Description of Work: Josh Haase was awesome. Haase & Sons was the third contractor that quoted my foundation repair project. The first two quotes ranged from $10,000 to $20,000. Because my foundation condition was borderline regarding required repairs to meet repair standards, Josh suggested we hire Jendusa Design & Engineering to provide us an engineer's analysis of what repairs are necessary. Josh felt that we could potentially save a substantial amount in repair expense. We did retain Jendusa and Josh was correct. The resulting repair quote was $3,500 less than my lowest bid. Josh's crew were excellent. They were very efficient, respectful of my home and they left the basement and exterior of my home cleaner then when they got there. I recommend Haase & Sons to anyone needing foundation repair.

Description of Work: "I had 4 estimates for my basement repair and Joshua Haase was the most knowledgable. It wasn't the cheapest estimate but not the most expensive either. I felt comfortable knowing that the job would be done right. My basement walls needed to be straightened and repaired. Joshua has been doing this work for many years and is easy to talk to and his explanation of the work to be done was great, honest and understandable. |Due to weather, the job was started 2 days later than booked, but the work was completed in a timely manner without much interruption of our daily lives. Joshua's crew were polite and friendly and very hard workers. |Outside excavation was completed, the outside walls were waterproofed and the walls were straightened. Everything was approved by our local inspector. |The crew cleaned up when they finished and everything went smoothly. |I will be using Haase & Sons again soon to put in a new patio. |I highly recommend them. Josh and his team were professional and thorough, installing plastic sheathing to control the spread of mortar dust. They were up-front about what to expect and their timetable and kept to that timetable. The job was completed as described and expected. We would hire his team again if we need this type of work done, as we were very happy with the results.

Josh and his crew arrived exactly as promised Monday morning and removed all of the concrete that was to be replaced and hauled it away. They built up a ramp at the end of the driveway and ahead of the garage so that we could use the garage that night to get our cars off the road. The next day Josh and his crew were again there bright and early as promised. They started by pouring the sidewalk then moved down to the driveway, several people pouring while others were doing the smoothing and texturing. They than moved to the back of the house to pour the (2) patios. I have seen many people in my area replace their driveway and have the area around the driveway look like a war zone. When Joss and his men were done, there was only the width of the forms between my new concrete and the almost un-touched grass. All I needed to do was put down some seed and you could not see where they had been.

This is not a customer of ours. We ALWAYS return phone calls and we do not accept payment untill the project is 100% completed. Thus giving us the urgency to get our project completed. Working with Angies List to get this figured out . Thank You Joshua Haase
Removed several bushes and constructed two retaining walls of different heights with a dirt planter between them. The retaining walls wrapped around my rectangular deck. They look like a large smile. From the high wall to the deck there is stone. From the high wall to the low wall there is dirt for plantings. Joshua went above and beyond my expectations. I will definitely use him again. On a different visit he replaced my concrete patio and fixed my drain tile in the basement and installed a sump pump. That was not part of this project.

Due to recent rain/flooding the timeline for obtaining an estimate didn't meet my tight timeline but they spent 10 minutes on the phone with me walking me through my inspectors findings, what they mean, what repairs I can expect, etc... While they may not have been able to come to my home, his 10 minutes of time was invaluable to me as it was the expert information I was looking for.
Description of Work: I called Haase & Sons looking for an estimate for a basement foundation issue that my home inspector noticed. D
Our family is growing which means our needs for more usable space in our home is also growing. We have an unfinished basement that some moisture problems and horribly pitted floors. We never had puddles or obvious water problems but have had lots of deposits left on our floor and walls from moisture bleeding through and evaporating. In fact, as our project start neared, we really started to see the lack of draining in the corners of the basement as puddles began to form. There was no way would could install walls and flooring without being fearful of mold and mildew growing behind the scenes. We started with general contractors, basement finishers, allowing them to quote not only the framing and building a finished basement but to also take care of the concrete, moisture issues. This was not the route to go and beyond the scope of their standard work. We moved on to companies where waterproofing is their specialty. I had a comfort level with Josh Haase of Haase and Sons from day one. He was thorough, confident, and really seemed to have a nice grip on what it would take. They showed as scheduled, got to work immediately, and did not miss a beat through the entirety of the project. They came on a Wednesday and were at 95% by the end of day on Saturday, leaving only a couple small items for Monday morning. I must add, seeing how rare this can be, that the actual cost of the project was $700 below the original estimate.
Description of Work: Remove and replace approx. 116ft. of interior floor. Tap cores of concrete block and install floor edging. Clean bleeders and back-fill new drain-tile using #1 washed stone. Replace cement as needed.Install 1/2 HP Blue Max pump in the preferred location. Sump to be installed in 24in child-proof crock with sealed lid. Install separate circuit and outlet for sump pump. Pull all permits and pass inspections. All work under a 10 year warranty. (extra needs requested by us)*Remove and replace entire sections of floor (20x12, 8x25)**Frame and pour a level pad for washer/dryer***Add additional electrical outlet

I originally called Joshua to see about getting a bid to fix the void under our front porch to prevent mice and other critters from taking up residence. He came over and recommended we tap concrete into the nest opening and continue the concrete 5-6 inches below the ground to discourage digging under the porch. He also recommended we seal the bottom edge of the porch and top of the walkway that had separated due to settling with a paste seal. He assessed the porch for us and recommended we not do anything drastic at this time. The porch was still holding steady and the settling, while creating a void and openings for mice to dig nests, was not very bad and could be fixed. He offered to fix it for free since I'd been patient after he'd had to cancel our first meeting. This project may have been too small for most contractors so I was very grateful he took an interest in helping us out by using concrete he had left over from a current project he was completing. Overall, I was very satisfied with the great customer service and attention to detail he showed.
Description of Work: Joshua added concret to the bottom of our front porch where mice had created entrances to a nest. In the 10 years we had had the house, the ground around the porch had settled. As a result the walkway leading up to the porch had sunk some 3 inches and an empty space had been created under the porch. Joshua not only added concrete to prevent the mice from digging under our porch, he also added a concrete paste to the bottom edge of the porch and walkway where a little space had opened as a result of the settling.

Everything was done to my satisfaction and both Josh and his crew made sure I was kept apprised of what they were doing at every turn. The job started on time and was done in the time frame specified. They moved the larger belongings for me (washer, dryer, stationary tub, workbench) and created the least destruction possible to the existing full bathroom. The only glitch was a problem with the battery, but Josh came out the following week and replaced it promptly. After several significant rains, I'm happy to report a dry basement and the sound of the sump pump still puts a smile on my face.

He dug around the whole foundation, fixed it and sealed it, he took out the floor and put in a new floor and repaired some of my driveway. The one side the blocks were leaning in due to the dirt and they pushed the walls back out and filled in the blocks around the parameter to make it strong. They did a lot. They did a very good job. They worked very hard. It took about 5 guys, but I am very satisfied with how that turned out. They are very thorough and easy to work with.

Called on a Friday to inquire about an estimate. My call was returned later that day and an appointment made for the following Tuesday. Meeting went well, and I was definitely considering hiring Haase & Sons for project. Mr. Haase told me that he would drop off or mail a written estimate by the next day. No estimate was received. I called the following Tuesday, and left a message inquiring about the written estimate. My call was never returned and no estimate received.

In the July 2010 floods, we got over 1.5 feet of water in our recently finished basement, and suffered tens of thousands of dollars in damage. Part of the floor heaved and another part dropped. We were in a panic over whether we had any serious foundation problems or safety issues. I contacted several basement contractors to get an expert's opinion. Josh Haase was the only one willing to come out right away-which he did. He assured us the house was not falling down and there were no safety issues. He said we needed to replace poorly installed drain tiles and advised us to consider adding a second sump crock. Josh never pressured us, and seemed genuinely concerned for our welfare. Having just gone through a very traumatic episode, we were very grateful for his low-key approach. His prices were reasonable, his terms were fair, and he was up front about all costs. When he and his people came to do the repairs, they were punctual, pleasant, respectful, and very accommodating. They explained everything they were doing, cleaned up the work areas very well, and did a great job on the concrete work. We had one small problem with the electrician doing an improper wiring job for the new pump, but Josh made certain the work was corrected to my satisfaction-even though I had already paid him in full. I had contacted two other companies for quotes. One pressured us during the initial inspection, and called us repeatedly over the course of a couple of weeks; the other one said made some very insensitive comments, including how we lived in an area that was making him a lot of money. I didn't appreciate his callous manner so recently after a major catastrophe. Josh's attitude was always one of caring more about helping us and doing a good job than getting rich. In a time of crisis, that's the kind of people you want working in your home.

I had water leaking down one wall in my basement and through the seam between the floor and the wall 3 times this summer and especially the time we had the tornado warnings where I was down in the basement and watched the water coming in. Because many people also had water problems that time, I had trouble finding someone to come out that week to diagnose the problem and fix it. I called Josh Haase and he said he could come out that day. I was very anxious with the water coming in the walls as I was thinking it would be thousands of dollars to fix the problem. Josh was right on time and was very professional and nice to deal with. He looked at the problem and thought that the outside basement wall needed to be sealed and it would cost around $1500. I was very relieved and pleased that he did not try to recommend more than what he thought it neded to fix the problem. Then the next time it rained, I got water in a another spot in the basement so I called Josh and he came back out and diagnosed the problem- putting in drainage tiles along one wall in the basement and gave me a total quote then of $2400. He set up a time for a week later. He and his crew showed up right on time and got the job done in one day- the time they said they would. They laid down coverings on all my floors, and set up plastic around my basement to contain the dust from the jackhammer for the drainage tiles. On the outside, they had to move all the dirt in my front garden bed away from the house and they were very careful not to disturb and more plants that they had to. They even raised one window well when I asked them to without charging me extra. The cement barely had time to dry before we got the next big storm so I was very worried whether the fix would work. The basement was completely dry and has stayed dry so far through all the rainstorms we have had since it was fixed even in the 500 year rain we got in July. I had no water in my basement at all from that storm!! I have been very pleased with the results and how Josh treated me and my house. I would highly recommend him and will not hestiate to call him for any other problems that I have.
Description of Work: To fix water leaking into my basement through two walls, they excated part of the walls on the outside of the house to about 6 ft down and sealed the walls using a vapor barrier. They then backfilled the soil and replaced the mulch. Inside the basement, they replaced the draintiles along one wall and installed floor edging. All work was guaranteed under a 10 year warrantly.

In November of 2008 I hired Haase and sons for my basement water problems. Josh did replace the drain tile and added some dirt around the house. He also did some concrete work. He took my money and did not finish the job WHICH WAS WRITTEN IN THE CONTRACT! In 2009 I waited MONTHS for Josh to add the additional dirt which was contracted for. He claimed I verbally told him I did not want any more which I never would have stated!! When I wrote to him on his e-mail I asked him if we could discuss this over the e-mail so we could have a record of what was said and HE NEVER EVEN RESPONDED! He did get the e-mails as he discussed this with a mutual friend. I specifically told Josh of an area between my house and my garage that pooled water and told him this was the one area I really needed to make sure did not pool water. After the first rain there was standing water there and I expressed my concerns and he refused to remediate the problem along with 2 huge cracks in the sidewalk with appeared the first month after the work was done. Josh was also to cap off an old sump pump and seal it off with concrete and this was never done. He put a flimsy plastic cap over the pipe and in the first thaw it popped off and rushing water came into my basement. He did come over around 40 minutes after I called him and put another cap on but has never finished this part either. I have had at least 10 people ask me who did my basement work and I cannot ethically recommend them as I wouldn't want my friends to have the same frustrations. A mutual friend has repeatedly tried to get Josh to finish the work and has even talked with him in the past two weeks with no results. I was also never given a refund so that I could hire a professional to finish the work Josh should have done. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HAASE AND SONS FOR BASEMENT REPAIR.

We put my Fathers house up for sale. After 5 days we accepted an offer. After the buyers had a home inspection done it was recommended that a drain tile test be done. We knew the basement was always damp but didn't think that there was a drain tile problem. We were wrong. It failed a drain tile test to the point where only the floor had to be opened in 4 places because at all four points there was standing water. No need to run a hose into standing water when you know it isn't going anywhere. Over the phone we received a quote from the company affiliated with the tester that was on site. I was not very excited about the impersonal over the phone quote that I received a few hours later or the price that was thrown at me either. We had to have this work done quickly as closing was supposed to happen by the end of the month. So I went to Angie's list to look for other members experiences. We found Haase and Son's and asked for a quote. Josh was an hour late coming for the estimate but had some good reasons for that. His estimate and description of the work that he and his crew would do had me feeling very comfortable on his knowledge and abilities. I told him that I was interested but that we had a problem with waiting too long as time was of the essence. He told me that he would make some calls to see if he could rearrange his schedule to fit us in with this very short notice. It ended up that he could so I had the contract signed, put down 10% and the job started 5 days later. Because there was only one other review on Angie's list I was a little nervous as to what would arrive on the first day. It made me feel a lot better when I saw them arrive in a large panel truck and dump truck both with their company name on them. This reassured me that they were a fairly well established company. His crew came when he said they would and they were done a LOT faster than I thought was possible. Of course some of that was due to the fact that the basement was nearly empty since we cleaned it out months earlier in preparation for the home sale. But it also is a tribute to Josh and his friendly well mannered crew. In the 1- 1/2 days that the work took Josh asked me several times if I had any questions or concerns and didn't treat me like I was just in the way. It was also nice to see the boss (Josh) working along side of his people.

We contacted Josh. He gave a verbal estimate via phone and altered it after evaluating the basement. He finished the work in the estimated time and for the estimated cost. He and his workers were professional and friendly. We have tested their work through the winter thaw and copious rain and have had no leaks after years of dealing with leaks. I would highly recommend their services.
