 + -1 moreThe install was great. Our door is the envy of the neighborhood at a price that was less than some other options we looked into. Our installer cleaned up all of the old, installed (beautifully) the new, and even fixed the light on our garage door opener. Very professional.
Description of Work: We were in need of a new garage door on our 27 year old house. The old door was warping, peeling and although still functional, it was an eyesore. I did some research on the internet and then went to my local home improvement store which was no help whatsoever. I was unsure and it just so happened that the Home Improvement show was taking place that weekend so off we went to see if we could find a new garage door. I went to Joe Wilde and was very disappointed with the person we spoke with at their booth. I guess we didn't look like serious spenders or they have enough business that they didn't need ours. So on to see what Geis had to offer. Night and day going to this booth. We were greeted by Jim who helped us and showed us examples of things he thought we might like. He had us fill out a card and said he would contact us in the next few days. He called us the next day, set a time to come to OUR house, and was more than helpful without being pushy at all. We felt very comfortable with our decision. He said the door would be ready for install the week of March 4th and so we picked a day and they took care of the rest.

 + -1 moreI didn't have any complaints. They came out promptly and I am very happy they could do it. They could do it right away and it was on a Saturday. They came here, knew what the problem was exactly and did the work. The guy was very pleasant and told me why it happened. He gave me some advice and sounded very informative. I would assume it was a fair price and I will use them again in the future.

Description of Work: The representative from Geis came over the same day I called. My garage door was becoming very difficult to open. The service man adjusted the springs to alleviate the problem. He also lubricated it and tightened all the bolts. It works much better now.

 + -1 moreI phoned the office and explained my problem; they said they could come the following morning. I asked what "morning" means, and they said 8:00-12:00, so I said the earlier the better. Chris received the request as "as early as possible," and arrived at my garage at 6:50am, which was beyond the call of duty, but delightful for me. Chris explained the problem was not with the machine, but rather with the connection with the door. He adjusted the connection, fixed a roller, and cleaned everything up. I had been bracing for the whole unit to have to be replaced, but all that was needed was the service call. Chris was very pleasant to interact with and explained everything thoroughly. A great way to start the day.
Description of Work: 13-year old garage door opener wasn't working. Chris checked it for damage, wear, error codes, etc., and found the machine itself was fine. The chain had gotten stuck on a bolt. Chris adjusted the connection to the door, fixed a broken roller on the door itself, and oiled everything up.

 + 0 moreAlthough the motor of the garage door was running, the door would not come down. I called several places and they estimated I probably needed a new unit. Some places not only wanted to charge extra for getting rid of the old unit but couldn't do it right away. I called Geis Garage Doors because they had also put in new doors for me last Summer and I was very satisfied. They charged more but said they could do it right away so I went with them. I got a call from the person that was suppose to replace my system and he said he could "fix" it because it was just a chain that needed replacement!!! So instead of paying $300.00 for a new unit, I only paid 139.99. I really appreciated their honesty, they could of easy replaced it. I would highly recommend them!!

 + -1 moreThe door they originally ordered was supposed to be almond in color and was supposed to be painted to match my trim. I provided the desired paint. When the door was installed, I noticed several white specs and that the door was white and not almond color. They did not remove all the hardware that was no longer necessary and didnt pick up all the pieces. They did come back and checked out the door. They reordered a new door that was the correct color and installed it correctly. The garage door looked perfect, but a week or so later it started peeling. They are sending someone out next week to touch up the door.

He arrived on time, removed the old door and operator, and installed new ones, explained the functions of the operator, cleaned up thoroughly and hauled away the old door and operator. Everyone was very knowledgeable about their products and procedures.

However, when I asked if they had evening or weekend appointments the woman bluntly replied, "We're only open until 4:30." We weren't interested in using a vacation day to schedule an appointment, so we instead scheduled appointments with four other companies with more flexible availability.

He was very efficient and he was very kind as he told us about the $10 coupon that was in our current phone book which we could use to pay our bill. I was very grateful for that. He was a very nice person. He worked quickly and efficiently. We were very satisfied with his work.

Makes the house look great. Great job of cleaning up. Hopefully, this one will last a lifetime, so don't anticipate using them again, but they are highly recommended.

I waited until the end of the following week to see if an estimate might have been sent in the mail..no luck. They never came out and I never received an estimate.  + -1 moreExcellent, The service man took the time to explain everything to my wife, pointed out to her what the problem was, and wha toption we had. She consider the options (do nothing, replace one spring, replace both springs) and decided to have both replace. The price was fair, and he was able to do teh whole job in about an hour. We will reommend them to anyone who needs work done on their garage door.
Description of Work: The spring on my garage door broke. The service man from GEIS BUILDING PRODUCTS came out, examined the garage door with my wife, and gave us a complete report on what we needed, and the cost to do it. The price was resonable, and they replaced both spring within an hour.

 + -1 moreSince I was hoping to deal with Art because he had so many good reports, I was disappointed. Going to the showroom did give me a lot of actual doors to look at that assisted in my decision.
Description of Work: I called looking for Art Pope (per Angie's List recommendations) and was told he is no longer working for them. I stated I was looking for a garage door and they said to come in to pick one out. Since I live in Racine, this was NOT what I was looking to do, but was not left with any other choice. After a small wait, someone finally waited upon us and we picked out a great looking garage door with windows, fax wrought iron handles and hinges. They scheduled an installation date and did a great job.

 + -1 moreThree days before vacation, we couldn't open the garage door (manually or with opener) so that we could pull the cars out to get to work. Called Geis and arranged for technician to open the door that day, and then repair it early the following day. Technician determined that roller and roller attachment were bent; he opened door sufficiently so that we could pull the cars out. He called in the repair information so that it would be available for technician the following morning for the complete repair. Next day the technician did not arrive as scheduled and Geis had no record that one was scheduled. They agreed to come out early the following morning. Repair was made in an hour and the door now works smoothly.
Description of Work: Repaired garage door that wouldn't open.
