Deck Pro

Our 30 day project took 6+ months, was never completed. Deck Pro did not submit correct plans for permitting so we have had to hire another company to complete the work and a structural engineer to work with the city to get project properly permitted.

The deck looked great for the first 2 months. Unfortunately, after that time the problems started with the deck boards popping up due to broken screws. We had loose deck boards in some places and sagging boards in other places creating a lot of sharp edges and trip hazards where vertical boards meet horizontal boards. All of the window trim and planter boxes literally fell apart due to the use of sub par materials (including skinny short nails without heads) and poor craftsmanship. The company supposedly has a 10 year warranty. However, it usually takes well over a month of constant attempts to even get a call back from the owner (Dave). When he did call back he acted put out like he was doing us a big favor by returning our call. Getting him to actually do anything about the endless issues with our deck became so problematic we finally gave up. Easier to pay someone else to repair the many deck issues left behind by Deck Pro. Unless, you have time and money to waste, DO NOT hire this company!

It's a timber deck and it's quite expensive. The quality was very good. There was a misunderstanding but when he put the deck in the corners didn't seem to be finished. The deck looks real nice except for those corners.

Overall, I am delighted with Dave's work. He worked with me to pick a deck/railing color that accented our house color well. The materials he ordered on my behalf were of excellent quality. He educated me on what went wrong with my prior deck and how to prevent problems in the future. He and his crew tore off the old decking and railings. They then cleaned up all of the old nails and added bracing/substructure where needed to allow proper nailing of new decking and rail supports. They created an attractive pattern that optimized amount of wood required to be purchased. They even moved my hot tub to one side and then back to get the job done and relieve me of the problem of getting someone to do that. And he cleaned up all the debris leaving the job site clean. The results are incredibly beautiful, of very high quality and something that should last for years. The only thing I would fault Dave on is communication regarding scheduling. It appears that Dave was a bit over committed this summer. Due to this, the job took longer than I expected and communication about when his crew would show up was not as forthcoming or as proactive as I would have hoped. But when I reached out via e-mail to Nicole, I received the desired updates.

It went very well and Dave had great ideas all along the way. He was a gem from the start with ideas on design and excellent throughout with always an eye for perfection. He added another board around the bottom of the deck for the same price agreed to even though it cost him some additional labor and materials. It turned out beautiful and it was done with great care and professionalism. You could not go wrong in selecting Deck Pro.

Dave provided excellent drawings, and had some great inputs. My deck has an integral elevated hot tub platform. I had the deck permitted through Snohomish County. | |Very happy with the work they did. My neighbors had a deck built by another builder, and Deck Pro has actually been helping them FIX the issues they've had. However, it is very hard to fix things like incorrect ledger attachment, so you should really read up and make sure your deck builder is following acceptable building practices. It doesn't matter "if that's the way they've been building decks for 10 years" You will be liable for your deck if it collapses. Make sure it is built correctly. The easiest way to do that is to make sure it is permitted. | |DeckPro did a great job. I had the deck pre-stained, and so I restained my deck after about 12 months. This is normal. I am now using TWP1500 deck stain, and am very happy with how it is wearing. However, we will still be stripping, and staining every 18 months. It is worth considering alternative decking. I used tight knot cedar. I have black aluminum balusters. They are unaffected by the deck strippers I used, and I am thankful not to have to strip and stain them :) | |Good luck. Educate yourself before hiring a contractor to do any job. There are so many bad ones out there. If they can't take the time to answer your basic questions, it is because they know what they are doing is not "best practice".

After leaving 2 messages for Deck Pro and never receiving a call back - we decided to try and go a different direction in getting our leaking deck repaired.
