The cleaning portion of the service provided was fair enough. I happened to be home on the 2nd visit and while I was in my bedroom getting dressed for work I heard one of the cleaners knock something off of the wall. I make most of the things I have hanging on my walls from recycled materials so I knew something was probably broke. I also thought ok it was just an accident and I could probably fix it no problem. When I came out of my bedroom I noticed the piece was back hanging on the wall with the broken piece stuffed back in where it didn't belong and nobody said a word about it. This could've been remedied rather easily if someone would've told me. I called the Cleaning Authority to cancel the service and spoke with a very nice lady who felt bad and apologized for what happened. She also stated that it is the company policy that their employees are to tell the home owner if something gets broke. That communication got lost on the visit to my house.

We contacted this company via search on Angie's List. We met with and received a bid from one of the owners, John who is a very nice gentleman. Shortly after our meeting, we asked that he provide us with at least three references that we could check on. He provided only two. We did contact the two references and the reviews were very positive. In addition, we requested a copy of his business license, liability insurance, worker's compensation insurance and his insurance bond. Verifying this information with any service provider is recommended by Angie's List, various consumer protection agencies, state licensing and contracting websites, etc. In fact, many of the service providers we have contracted with have provided this information in their bid packet including the paint contractor we are currently working with. Our paint contractor provided us with voluminous information including all of the above as well as pages and pages of references. The contractor is highly rated on Angie's List and a multiple Super Service Award Winner. To my disbelief, John said that they had never been asked for this information in the five years they have been in business! It is hard for me to fathom that someone would allow a cleaning service in their house or on their property without performing such due diligence. There are potential liability issues for a homeowner but more importantly the security of one's family and property. When we conducted an internet search on The Cleaning Authority franchise we found pages of consumer horror stories regarding poor customer experiences with various franchisee's across the country (theft, drug use, property damage, poor service, etc.) which was all the more reason to request the information that we did. Furthermore, providing such information is plain and simple, a best practice for a service provider. I was actually taken aback by the resistance and reluctance to provide the information we requested. I had never encountered that before. John and his partner Shawn wanted me to pursue the liability information with their insurance agent which I considered their responsibility. A service provider needs to earn my business not the other way around. Even when their insurance agent agent provided a copy of their liability insurance, it was incomplete and did not indicate if their policy was in force. John and Shawn did not know how to go about providing proof of their worker's compensation coverage or insurance bond. The bond is critical in case of theft or damage. The bond provides a tangible avenue of recourse for a consumer. In the event of a loss, the consumer can make a claim against the bond. In the end, it was apparent that John did not want to be bothered further by our request and was willing to allow a business opportunity to walk away. Apparently, they have enough business and don't need additional work. This spoke volumes and made it easy for us to seek out another service provider who possess a better business acumen and is willing to earn our business. This is a simple case of buyer beware if you elect to do business with this company or any company who states they are unfamiliar and/or unwilling to fulfill a request for proof of current license, bond and insurance. The fact that this company claims to have never been asked for it is a giant red flag to me. I can't believe that there is not a savvy consumer among their clientele, particularly if they are Angie's List members. After all, there was a reason this website was created (kudos). Perhaps John and Shawn will take from this experience the idea of adopting a best practice platform in their bid process and providing this basic information when a customer makes such a request. They seem to have a tangible service to offer a homeowner if they truly execute and deliver on their promises. I have my doubts given that we could not even get past a preliminary business screening but I wish them well with their business venture.

CA was out second cleaning service, the first being fired for poor quality. They alternated the cleaning areas, deep cleaning different parts of the house on different trips. Kitchen was cleaned each time, bathrooms alternated. The sheets were changed on the beds each trip, all floors vacuumed. Kitchen floor cleaned each time. Overall, the work was satisfactory, though we had to discuss the quality on about three different times. CA was responsive to our requests, they showed up on the days that were scheduled, and were flexible with the schedule. HOWEVER, we are terminating the service this year due to breakage. They responded well, usually, but the last straw was damaging a drape rod holder, and the wall, and doing an inadequate repair.

Generally the work is pretty good, however it can depend on the cleaning crew that I get. But the managment has been very responsive to any complaints or concerns that I might have. I'll continue to use them in the future.

They are very thorough. They come in and get the job done efficiently. Their job was excellent. During the first visit, they worked for 3 hours on my house. On a subsequent visit, they spent about 2 hours for the cleaning.

Once again, Angie's List provided a great referral! I emailed John, the owner, on Monday and he got back to me the same day. I was able to schedule a walk through and estimate for the next day. Shawn, the co-owner, arrived right on time and was very professional. He told me exactly how much the first two "deep cleans" would be, and how much it would be for bi-weekly cleaning after that. It was very reasonable! I was able to schedule my first cleaning just two days later. On cleaning day, 3 people showed up right on time and did a fantastic job on the entire house. So far, this has been a great experience.

They are very responsive, trustworthy and if I have any questions or concerns they always address that immediately. Management also comes by and inspects the work frequently.

They focus clean different areas each time and spot clean all other areas, they use a rotating cleaning system. We have had a few problems with the deep cleaning, and when I informed the owner he did come out and correct it. Overall I had been reasonably pleased.

I have used cleaning people for 25 years and they are the best that I have ever had. They are always very responsive and flexible.

I like that they use a checklist that has to be completed each time. If something isn't done, they will come back out (within 24 hours). I have recommended them to other people.

The cleaning was okay. There were two or three individuals each time, but it was seldom the same people. That should have been my first clue that perhaps this was a bad idea. Three weeks ago was the last time they were here. At that time some medication was stolen, and it was medicine my husband was taking regularly (every four hours), so it was easy to determine that the people who cleaned our home that day took it. I was actually home the entire time they were working. We involved the police once we discovered the medicine was missing, only because we didn't want this to happen to others. I was not happy with how the Cleaning Authority handled the matter. As was customary, I had given the people who cleaned that day a check (before I had discovered the theft), and I stopped payment on the check immediately. The Cleaning Authority had the nerve to call and demand immediate payment. No mention was made of the time I spent dealing with the matter that day. As business owners ourselves, we understand how difficult it is to find and keep good people, but we would definitely have dealt with our customers in an entirely different way if they had a justifiable complaint. I'm cleaning my own home for now, but hopefully Angie's list will help me find someone truly trustworthy!

I really wanted to try The Cleaning Authority because I like the way they set up to do more detailed cleaning of rooms on an alternating basis. I called the Oregon City number because it was the closest to me in Milwaukee. The first thing asked was what my zip code was. When I told them, they told me there was no cleaning available in my zip code at this time. I asked if the Oregon City franchise couldn't cover this area and was told no. I guess the company goes by zip codes only and if they don't cover your zip code you are just out of luck.

Always been satisfied and the owner is VERY punctual on any mistakes and does drop by inspections personally, during the time the girls are cleaning - unannounced.

I fired them at 2:05pm. It appears to be a national franchise with a local owner. But if you can't show up on time the first appointment and no one calls to say they will be late then this is not the company I want working in my home.

I am extremely impressed with this cleaning service. After talking to other people that have house cleaning services, I did not expect the quality and thoroughness of the work performed by The Cleaning Authority. The personnel at the Cleaning Authority have cleaned around and under knick knacks, children's toys on display on book shelves, around plants, pictures, televisions & video players. These people have been excellent at cleaning a house with a mix of children and pets.
