Pioneer Pest Management

The rep from Pioneer Pest (Wally) was very attentive, polite and informative about the ants we had a problem with. After he educated us about these ants and why our store bought products weren't killing them... it all made sense. He did a visual inspection inside and out of all the structures on our property to see if he could find some ants. He found some active ants outside on the far side of the garage... that I never even spotted before. He showed me the trail and asked me to squish one so I could smell the scent they use... it was pretty strong! I knew ants used this scent to follow the food trail, but never knew it was used to convey danger warnings to other ants if spray was being used, etc. The spray we were using before was Home Defense and little did we know that the second we started spraying the ants were being told (via this scent), to run the other way and look for another place to reside. The ants don't even have a clue something is wrong with the spray that Pioneer Pest uses. They just walk through it, it sticks to their legs, they bring it back to the nest... and it's curtains for all of them! We agreed to have the initial spray done for the entire house, garage and out building for $199.00 and $99.00 each quarter thereafter to prevent their return. Even with my Angie's list coupon and being a Senior, that was the lowest he could go for the size of the house. He also left traps to use (on the interior of the house only), if we saw 10 ants or more. The traps had something inside that would attract the ants. We were told to put these traps away from the line of ants, not in their direct path! They would eventually find the traps, bring the ingredients back to the active nest, ingest it and kill them off. This process would take about 3 weeks to fully do the job and if we saw ants in the meantime not to panic. They guarantee their work and will come out immediately if we encounter any other ants after 3 weeks. The spray they use is also pet friendly which was a plus for us. We haven't seen an ant since his arrival and we're very happy with the work Pioneer Pest did. The initial price of $199.00 was a little steep for being on a fixed income, but we can handle $99.00 every 3 months. We believe it's worth every penny knowing we will never have to crawl under the house again to spray for ants... these bones are just getting too old to be doing that anymore! :-)

I'd had an issue with sugar ants for several months. I used an ant killer spray that would work for awhile - only to have the ants return in another area! Mick did a great job explaining that the spray wouldn't eliminate my problem - it would only force the ants to move to another area. He placed bait in areas where I had seen ants (kitchen, bathroom and perimeter of dining room) and left me extra traps in case I needed them, explaining that the ants would carry the bait back to their colony and essentially wipe out the problem. He also set the expectation that it would take 2-3 weeks to eliminate the problem and asked me to call if I was still seeing ants after 3-4 weeks. I also have a lot of spiders outdoors; I decided to sign up for a quarterly foundation/window spray to deter the spiders and other insects. The bait worked; it took a few weeks (as Mick had indicated it would) but I have not seen an ant in the past 3-4 weeks. My next quarterly spray is scheduled for June. I really appreciated Mick's patience in explaining why spraying wouldn't eliminate my problem...and for doing what appears to have eliminated my annoying ant problem!

They assisted and listened to me with my problems. I have bug issues. They sprayed for more than what was necessary at the time. He took a look at my shrub and gave me some pointers. He gave me advice about pulling back the shrub so the bugs do not jump on the house. I was very happy with outcome.

They came when called and took care of the problem immediately. Which was good because it was not safe to use my front door untill the yellow jackets were gone as they were very aggressive.

They were very good. They quoted me $199, they waived the inspection fee since they found no trace of raccoons. They had amazing customer service, friendly, thorough and right on time.

Before calling Pioneer, I had tried using unused dryer sheets to drive them away with the smell. Didn't work. The next week, I bought plug-in rodent repellents. That didn't work. Third week, called Pioneer on Wednesday afternoon, Mar. 27, and spoke with Becky. She asked a number of relevant questions to ascertain what the technician might be dealing with, along with my availability to meet with the technician. She informed me they would probably be able to send someone out Friday sometime to consult but they wouldn't know until Friday morning the 2-hour timeframe of arrival. (She had asked when the best days/times would be convenient for me.) The next morning, Thursday, I failed to have my phone within hearing range and missed Becky's call to say a technician would be there THAT day around 10am. He arrived promptly, rang the bell, I didn't answer (I was not presentable yet). But by now, I was near my phone, which then rang and I answered. Turned out it was Wally, the technician, who had rung the doorbell. Making apologies, I quickly got presentable and let him in. He inspected the first floor and garage, and shined his flashlight around in the crawl space. At every point, he showed me the evidence of entry points -- feces and fur (those mice can squeeze into some very small holes I wouldn't have imagined they could get through). I then followed him outside where he inspected the vents in the foundation and pointed out all the places they could/did get through. I opened the shed for him and he pointed out the obvious nests made from my bags of grass seed and other yard/garden materials. We then went back inside and discussed how to fix the problem and the costs therein. He indicated several choices, including just this initial visit, whereby I could do all the work (set traps, plug holes), up to his doing all the work. I indicated I was willing to replace the wire mesh covering vents around the foundation as well as clean out the shed to remove their nests if he would immediately place rodent traps and sticky glue boxes in and outside the house, and in the shed (turned out we had mice AND rats, who'd been living amongst us for way too many months). I felt it best if, after all the entry points had been covered up (and after we were sure all the rodents were gone), he would come back quarterly for the rest of the year to make sure there weren't entry points missed. This contract will cost approximately $130 every quarter. The initial visit and trap placement on Thursday included a revisit approx. a week later (included in first visit's payment of $299 plus state tax) to see how well the traps were working (I promised I'd take pictures of the trapped rodents and where I'd found them before disposing of them, so Wally could see during the next week's visit). I found Wally to be pleasant, professional and more than happy to educate me about the prevention of future infestations. It wasn't but a few hours after his visit, I found a mouse trapped in the garage, which I promptly added to the garbage can which was to be emptied the next day. I haven't seen any more trapped but did hear a few snaps that night, which may have come from the ones near the crawlspace entry. Overall, I found the company and its employees easy and pleasant to work with.

I've had an infestation of ants, and Wally took care of inside and outside ants, plus spiders. He also left me with bait plates if any ants spring up in other places of the house.

It was good! The guy took his time and was very thorough and we felt like he knew what he was doing! We signed up for their quarterly service.

We began to see mice in our house. We called them and a service technician came out. He set glue traps inside and box traps outside. I believe that the mouse infestation was a one-time thing. We caught none in the house and a few in the box traps outside. They offered a regular monthly service, but did not pressure us when we refused. We have had no more problems.

Bill from Pioneer Pest came out and evaluated my home. He sprayed for pests and recommended that I sign up for their quarterly program where they come out every quarter for maintenance spraying which I did. About 2 weeks later, I was still having a ant problem so they came back out for FREE and took care of the problem. I've been without ants since that second visit. They are always friendly and super professional! I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I'll most definitely use them in Spring, when ants will be back in force.

They came out in two visits. They set some traps to catch them, but they were unable to catch any rats. I thought the price was high. They come out fairly quickly and they were prompt. They were good to deal with.

So far, we have been pleased with the service. I have referred them to someone else.
