Response from Randles Landscape & Design
"Well the reality of this situation is we never actually worked for you doing a landscape installation. You signed up for a $ 50 dollar service, for me to come out, design and draw out a landscape plan. This service was done, and drawing submitted. The drawing actually turned out very nice. You did re- contact me to further draw one area of the landscape, and I was a bit slow getting back to you due to a very busy schedule. That is indeed my fault, and I apologize. I am 100% willing to reimburse your $ 50.00. We do aim for 100% customer satisfaction, and I'm sorry I did not perform to your expectations. Again, I am willing to refund your $ 50.00 if you like. Just would like it known, that we did not install a landscape for you, rather, I furnished a drawing and consultation. Thank you, Derek Randles...owner."

THEY DID NOT LISTEN !!
In February I first met with the foreman, & discussed everything I wanted. He told me they could get to it within 2 weeks, being small enough to fit in between the couple big jobs they had going.
I called later & was told there were all kinds of people in front of me & they would let me know when.
I waited, waited & called many times to question approximate time, I had other things to schedule. Every call took at least
2 to get a call back. I heard nothing from the foreman, though the boss kept saying he would have him call. They moved several appointments, one for a week as their truck was broken, yet ended up coming a week later, still without the truck.
By then we were into March. I was very excited when they showed up, then the foreman said he would only be here for an hour as he had another bid to do! The entire crew left. I cried.
They came back & what they did looked beautiful. BUT....it had been so long he had forgotten most of what we had talked about & had not written it all on the original bid.
I decided I could not live with not getting what I had asked & paid for so I wrote to the owner. Here is the body of the letter:
I am unhappy keeping the boxwoods, which are not what I requested. Same goes for my buying more sod because Todd didn?t listen when I told him I wanted the lawn to go to the fence at the end & to just in front of the rose bushes, thus he didn?t
bid/ order enough. He didn?t write down anything we originally talked about. I am sure it?s difficult to recall what each job wants between the time of bid & time of install, that?s why it should have been written in detail. I tried to show him pictures which he didn?t really look at let alone keep the copies I had for him.
I will accept that I should have insisted on a more detailed bid. It was my first time hiring a landscaper & didn?t realize that.
I am disappointed. I had read positive reviews & your BBB standing seemed to speak highly of your company. With all that plus scheduling delays & repeatedly not having calls returned, the job was not handled professionally. The quality of labor completed was good, just not what intended. END
I then got an email & a call saying they deserved a chance to make it right, their reputation was top with them...."they wanted to make me happy".
The foreman did come out a week later, he argued with me about what we had originally talked over. I had pictures & had done a scale drawing of my own so I know what I said. He told me the rock not covering more area was something he spoke to my husband about. My husband had barely talked to him & does not recall this. By the time he left I just wanted to be done. A few
weeks later he came back and & put in the missing sod with remnants of a bigger job, which were not in great shape, moved the few ground cover that were in its way, & replaced the boxwoods.
So they did, in the end, do what they said
they would on the bid. But it was not all what I had originally asked for.
They are skilled & knowledgeable plants etc., but the lack of communication was too unpleasant
to make it a happy experience.

The quote was very detailed & precise - especially in comparison to other quotes. They took me to the quarry to pick out the rocks I wanted. They were very flexible but professional & had very good ideas. They were excellent workers - They kept the street clean & cleaned up after themselves each day. They were considerate of the neighbors & treated my property as if it was there own. I'm extremely happy with the job they did. They were super about everything. They even did some additional trimming & allowed me to put some additional trimmings of my own in their haul-away waste.

They were her promptly and were here on time. They gave me a quote and after I accepted the quote their crew got here promptly. They finished the job in half the time they had estimated. The results were terrific. I’m very pleased with their price, it was better than any other bid that I got.
