Bill fixed the blockage in our sewer line, then ran thew camera down the line to be sure the problem was solved. We will be calling him for any future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: The day after we moved into a new home we experienced the sewer backing into the basement and flooding the utility room. Bill came out and snaked our sewer line. He was professional and friendly. He knocked something out of the sewer line. The next day we had him come out and run the camera through the line to be sure everything was ok (no broken pipes or blocks that would cause problem to reoccur).

They looked with a camera, saw the issue, we priced 3 others and they were middle range, but with best warrenty. They explained everything to start with and gave us a daily progress report. We appreciated the fact that there was no foul language or krass humor. When they came each day they worked the whole time and did not stand around. If I ever have any plumbing issues, they will be the ones we call!

Steve came out and looked at everything and told me the water heater was fine, and that it looked like the leak was coming from an air conditioner condensation pump. He told me there was no reason to replace the water heater, and for me to call an HVAC company to look at the pump. The honesty from Steve and the company he represents, Bulldog Rooter, was refreshing. Although they did not sell me a water heater, they have a future plumbing customer.

The guys were professional , friendly and courteous at all times. They explained everything that was going on to ensure we understood the problem. They were conscious of the mess they were going to create and cleaned up everything when they left. They also identified a potential problem that would need to be fixed in the future if I chose, and took the time to explain the pros and cons to the problem. There wasn't any pressure to fix it right then nor did they try to set-up an appointment to do it. They weren't out to pull more funds from my pocket, just let me know the situation. They provided options for the future fix to keep expense down to a minimum for me. Super team, very enjoyable, and knew their profession. Thanks They have my business for the future!
Description of Work: Use these guys. Scoped and Jet blew main line, renter had put cat litter or something which solidified down a below ground toilet and created a solid blockage. After they cleared it out they cleaned the pipe and ensured the obstruction when to the main street line.

They arrived on-time, and things looked promising at first. We have a washing machine that was not draining properly, and it seemed like a simple snake job. When they looked at the drain, they mentioned that they would not be able to snake through the P-Trap, which seemed logical. He then tried to remove the plug, but it was rusted closed. At this point things stopped going well. He spent 30 minutes trying to get the snake through the P-Trap with no luck. He mentioned he would then have to hacksaw through the kitchen drain, the vent, and the washing machine drain and replace the fittings. I fully expected him to do this then and there, as we had no ability to run the washing machine. He mentioned that he was not an actual plumber, but the boss's son, and only worked on drain issues, but could not help me with any actual plumbing problems (so much for calling a plumber). He then said I could also pipe in a utility sink for to drain the washer in, or move the washer to where my utility sink was. Since there was already water pipes there, I said, okay let's do that. But his lack of being a plumber prevented him from doing that as well. The only positive thing that came out of this experience was that he did not charge me for the visit. Since nothing was accomplished, I don't feel like he should have made me feel like he was doing me a favor by not charging me. On his way out, he tried to sell me more services that they provide for water softening, which did not sit well with me either. Call me crazy, but I feel when I call a plumber to come assist with a plumbing issue, they should send a plumber and not leave until the job is finished. It was completely unacceptable to waste my time to send someone who could not help me.

I called and made an appt for a bid and was able to get a plumber out the next day. On the day of the appt, the plumber called and asked if he could come early, which worked well for my schedule. He evaluated the problem and determined that he could fix it for the minimum labor charge plus parts. The visit took less than 1 hour and solved the problem.

Bulldog recommended a service they provide. The second opinion company does not provide that service, and was able to fix the problem without the expensive solution that Bulldog seemed to indicate was our only option. Eventually we may have to do what Bulldog recommended, but for now we were happy that a different company was able to solve our problem in a much less expensive manner.
Description of Work: After talking with this company, we obtained a second opinion. The second company was able to solve our problem in a noninvasive manner, which Bulldog had indicated was not possible. A good illustration of why getting a second opinion is often advisable.

I had worked with Bulldog Plumbing before this job and had been satisfied. The actual faucet installtion went well. Here is the reasons they received low scores in price and professionalism. Bulldog Plumber was the plumbing subcontractor on my kitchen remodel, that was in process when I decided to replace my bathroom faucet. So I hired Bulldog Rooter separate of my remodel to install my bathroom faucet. This did not go thru my kitchen remodel contractor and was not included in my remodel contract. Also he failed to get a permit for the Kitchen Remodel. Which I found out after the project was complete. No quote was given before the plumber for Bulldog Rooter installed the bathroom faucet and I was not aware of the amount until after it was paid. My husband had received the bill in the mail and payed it. He did not know that the work had been done without a quote. When it came time to pay my kitchen remodel bill there was a charge for my bathroom faucet. My husband showed our contractor the check receipt showing we had already paid Bulldog Rooter Plumbing. This was the first time I had heard the amount of the bill we had paid to Bulldog Rooter Plumbing. When I divided the bill by the hours It came to $120 per hour for labor. I had provided all the parts and the faucet. Then our contractor also build us for the job. Now, not only am I being charged for the second time for my faucet installatio but the bill from Bulldog Rooter was almost twice the amount that my Kitchen Contractor was charging me. The fact that my contractor billed me for a project not under the scope of our contract made me suspicious, :( FYI, I have already reviewed my Contractor under the Kitchen and Bath category, but it alerted me to call Bulldog Rooter and clarify the situation and price. At this time I called six other plumbing companies to get their hourly labor charge. I got a range of $65-$110 per hour. Then I called Bulldog Rooter to ask them why the amount was so high compared to what my contractor billed me. I was told to talk directly to the plumber.. Why doesn't the buisness office handle this, I thought to myself. I called the plumber, he did not negotiate on the price and he did not know why our Kitchen Contractor added it to remodel bill. Also, Bulldog Rooter only got a permit for my Kitchen Remodel after I tried to get an inspection from my city's building department and it was discovered that no permit had yet been purchased. I felt scammed into paying a premium price for a faucet installation by a company that did not follow City permit laws until after the fact and when asked to by city officials.

Response from Bulldog Rooter
[Member name removed], First let me say that I am sorry that your kitchen remodel went so poorly. I hope that the litagation you had with your contractor was favorable. When we recieved your call about being double billed for the work that we did for you in the bathroom we assured you at that time that we had not billed you and then billed the contractor in question. We can verify this. Unfornately nobody asked us too. I did follow up with the contractor to ask him why he would submit a bill to you when we did not bill him for the work performed in the bathroom. He was unable to give me a satisfactory answer. I left several messages on your answering machine so that we could talk. You never returned my calls. I assumed at that time that you were being advised by your legal representative not to talk to us? As far as pulling permits we had agreed with your contractor that he would be responsible for pulling the necessary permits. We did ultimately after the fact pull the permits and paid the fines associated with this. With that said we billed and recieved payment for this from your contractor. It is my understanding that no permits were pulled for this job at all which does not suprise me now. In closing I am 100 percent certain that we did nothing ethically wrong here. If we failed you, its because we did not address your concerns as well as we could have. I am open to meeting with you and providing our documentation. Sincerely Butch Jumalon

This morning I noticed a drip coming from the drywall ceiling in the garage--not a good sign. I immediately recalled seeing water on the garage floor earlier in the week, but with all the melting snow we've had, I didn't pay it too much mind. I called Bulldog Rooter just after 1:00pm. Steve N. said he had two other jobs ahead of me and asked if he could call me when the second job was done. As today is Superbowl Sunday and I had made plans to visit a friend to watch the game, I said sure. He called me later (6:30pm) to tell me he was on his way and arrived at my house at 7:00pm. After a brief inspection, and a small hole cut into the garage ceiling, we discovered the the leak was at the base of the master bedroom toilet. His next step was to pull the toilet. He discovered that one of the bolts that holds the toilet down had snapped, which allowed the wax ring (seal) to break, allowing water to drip down onto the insulation and drywall beneath it. He put in a new set of side bolts and wax ring and was done by 8:00pm. Although the labor charge was $126 for one hour (the parts were only $9.00!), I figured that to have someone come out on Sunday evening (and Superbowl Sunday at that) and take care of my problem I was happy to pay it. Oh, I did get a 10% discount for being and Angie's list customer. Steve N. was very amiable and professional. He quickly determined the problem and fixed it--and left my bathroom looking as if no one had ever even been there. From now on, Bulldog Rooter will be the first one I call with plumbing issues
Description of Work: The toilet was drained, pulled from the floor, and a new set of bolts and wax ring were installed, and the toilet was remounted.

My husband and I just bought this home and the basement is somewhat unfinished. The ceiling is completely open and you can see all the plumbing for the entire home. This was great for the inspection. After we moved in I was in the basement and discoved some water dripping from a pipe. I looked up Bulldog Rooter on Angies list and they have a good reputation. I called about 2 pm and explained the issue. They said that the Steve was just finishing a project and would be able to come and look at the pipe in about an hour. I was so surprised to hear that someone would be able to come immediately. We just moved from Seattle and you can never get anyone for any project to come immediately. I was very happy to hear this. Steve called me about 15 minutes later to say he was on his way. He arrived about 20 minutes later and was very courteous and professional. He looked at the pipe and immediately gave me the solution to fixing it. I asked how much and he told me a fair price and said he could fix it immediately. Done. He replaced the leaky cooper pipe with a bigger pvc pipe and made sure that coupling was done correctly. This all was done in less than 1 hour. He made some future sugesstion for the remainder of our cooper plumbing. The basement has plumbing in place for a future bathroom. We will be calling Bulldog Rooter to do that whole project in the future. I look forward to working with them for any and all plumbing needs in the future.

We recently sold a house and the inspection report stated that we had leaking pipes from a bathroom sink, we couldn't find the leak, but wanted to call a plumber in to evaluate the situation as a good faith effort to the new owner. Bulldog came in on a very busy day and evaluated the situation, could not find a leak, I wanted to pay them for their time. They declined the payment no matter how many times I tried to get them to take it and wrote an invoice stating their findings for us to give to the new home owner. They were honest, hard working people who I felt comfortable to have in my home, their communication before and after the appointment was also exceptional. They called to let me know they were running late, which is very appreciated.

*** See updates at the end (12/27/12) I had a problem with a sewer line that backed up for the first time that I'm aware of, and was able to get it flowing after renting a drain cleaner. 4 days later, however, it was blocked again. I had All Drains come out this time, and they got it flowing again. They stated that the pipe felt "broken" and that was all they could say. Less than 24 hours later (on Saturday) the line clogged again, and I had Bulldog Rooter come out, asking them to unclog, and then camera the line. They came within a few hours, and did unclog the line, but were unable to effectively run the camera, as this was an apartment complex sewer line and people were still using the system. The charge was $150, and we agreed they would come back out on Monday, after I had a chance to ask people not to run any water, re-camera the line, and do perhaps an hour or two of root cleaning (since they didn't believe the pipe was broken). On Monday, they worked for 3 hours or so, including camera, before deciding they needed to return with a water-jetter to finish the job. So, on Tuesday, with the line already backed up _again_, they worked for another few hours, utilizing the camera, before finally observing and deciding that the pipe was broken and needed to be replaced. The total bill at their normal billing rates was something like $1800 (or so). They discounted it to "only" $1000, so I appreciate the fact that they didn't try to insist on collecting everything. However, spending over a thousand dollars just to find out that the pipe was broken is a tremendous sum. Other than detecting the broken pipe, none of their work ultimately offered any value, since the entire line was replaced shortly thereafter. I did pay the bill, because I didn't believe that anyone was trying to cheat me, and they did in fact spend several hours working on the line. However, with more thought about it since having paid, I can't help but feel that it shouldn't take $1800 worth of work to identify a broken pipe (even if it is discounted). I'm sure there is a legitimate argument to be made that the camera can't do a good job with roots in the way, but my gut, and some other plumbers after the fact, tell me that this shouldn't have come to more than a couple hundred dollars. I rated price badly based on their overall price, although I think their hourly rates are not unreasonable. I rate their professionalism badly based not on the way I was treated, but simply because I believe a true professional would have identified the root cause of these repeated sewer backups much, much quicker. In fact, they were very courteous and answered all my questions. I rate their quality as excellent, because for all the pipe leading up to the break, they did get it very clean (free of roots), as the camera proved. If they pipe had not been broken, I'm quite convinced that they were doing a good job getting it clean, which was hampered by the fact that they were cleaning a 6" pipe through a 4" cleanout. That said, I'm sure any plumber could get the pipe clean with the number of hours they spent on it. Ultimately, I will probably not call out Bulldog Rooter in the future. *** Update (12/27/12): I received a call from Butch, the owner. We talked for some time about their work and my experience - overall a very good conversation. Without my asking, he offered to refund $400 without any strings attached. Obviously, that was a very well received gesture. It doesn't change any of my thoughts above, but it certainly speaks well for the company and reinforces the "no one was trying to cheat me" comments I've already made. Butch did in fact send the money he promised to, bringing the total cost down to about $700. I upgraded the overall experience from D to C, Price from F to D, and Professionalism from F to D, again noting that everyone's actions felt very professional... it's just a question of whether professionals should have diagnosed the broken pipe earlier.

Wouldn't you know it, the kitchen sink drain plugged tightly Thanksgiving morning. We were still able to finish a very nice Thanksgiving dinner despite the fact our kitchen was only partially functional. I called Bulldog Rooter Friday morning. Found out then that they don't charge extra for holidays. Pat and Jesse arrived on schedule. around noon the same day. Pat corrected the slope of the kitchen sink line from the trap to the wall. On further inspection he pulled major debris from the flapper valve that was blocking the flow from our kitchen and laundry. They correctly sealed a WC connection on my daylight basement level. I asks that they run a video of the pipeline so I had a better image of what had been done by the previous owner. Done, cleaned and out by 2:00 PM. Excellent service! Grant

I had 3 different companies come out to access the issues we were having and give us a bid. The Bulldog people were great about putting things is simple terms and answering all our questions. They were the middle price but had the best warrenty n there work, plus they would come in the Spring to see if anything had settled wrong and if so fix it. They came out and marked what would need to be taken out (walk and driveway) got all the stuff they needed from the city and were ready to start at *am on Tuesday. They arrived on time and got right to work. Each day they were here, every man on the job was working and not just standing around. They did run into an issue, that the city map was wrong and the place to connect in was not where the city said it was supposed to be. They were able to find a solution, and save us a lot of extra cost. They worked hard not to have to remove the city sidewalk adding more cost for us, and they were successful (for which we were very grateful). When they were done installing the new pipe, they worked hard to put al the sand back and make our property look very nice, adding rock to the driveway and walkway along with a black border and even replanting the tree in front of the window. Before they left they power washed the street and sidewalk, leaving the place looking very nice. We were very impressed with there conduct while they worked (no foul language and stuff like that) and with there caring attitude. ,
Description of Work: Talked with us about the issue (orangeburg sewer pipes collapsing) gave us a couple options to fix them along with quotes. Explained exactly what was involved and how long it would take. Then they got the cty to mark lines etc outside, then they marked which parts of walkway and driveway would need to be removed (this happened between Friday pm and Tuesday am) The removed the walk and driveway, then used a backhoe to dig down thru the sand to sewer pipe and began changng out pipe for new one. They also installed a new acess and overflow which is now required by the city, but covered it with nice green box. They then put back sand, sprinklers and tree, plus put 4 inch black bedding thing to keep rock from going onto grass and sand on the driveway. They also added a piece around the tree in the front yard. They added gravel to where the walkway and powerwashed the street completely cleaning up the mess.

Bulldog Rooter suggested I should have the line camera scoped before end after so I would know how bad the problem was and how effective the cleaning was. Because of the information gained the obstructed area was given an incredibly thorough cleaning. I have always had this done every 2 years. I am confident that period can be extended, though I will have it scoped at the normal interval to confirm what I suspect All in all I was pleased in every way and gained reliable information on what has been a significant upkeep issue. Thanks Butch and the gang.

I Called Bulldog Rooter with a backed up sewer, after finding them on Angie's list...was told they would be out @ around 6 pm, but they called @ 3 pm wanting to know if they could come now (well of course...thank god)...Mark an Jesse arrived ready to do battle....Our pipes were really backed up and so was the basement drain...not so much water just real FUNKY...Going right to work "The big Dog" was used to clean out all of the roots that had grown into the pipes. Mark noticed how really bad our utility sink was draining so he attempted to snake that...Was not going to happen. I agreed with Mark that it needed to be replaced so he arranged to come back and tear out the old sink and replace it with a single one and do all new pipes and water lines...Then Mark came back on Monday he and another worker (sorry don't remember name) got to business and completed everything within a reasonable amount of time including...Mark taking the time to fix our crumbling front cement step...You did a wonderful job on everything all of you and I will for sure be calling Bulldog Rooter for any and all of my plumbing needs...Thanks guys!
Description of Work: Came and rooted out our sewer applied RootX then replaced our outdated concrete utility sink, replaced the pipes and gave us a new facet plus new water hook ups...Mark also fixed our crumbling front step!
