Above Grade Septic

Above Grade is great. They are always timely and professional and provide a really high degree of expertise and crystal-clear explanations for the work they're doing. I'm always surprised by how quickly they've been able to track down the problem and fix it. I had bad experiences before I was referred to Above Grade, so now I'm really glad to have someone who I trust to do a great job.

Great team, family-owned business. Reliable and fair, and fun to work with. Very transparent about the work needed, with fair prices, and a high bar for quality. We will always use Above Grade for our septic system. Great work, great people.

This was a two day project. The people were professional, explained everything along the way and cleaned up each day. Although the cost seemed a bit high, they did a lot of work to fix a number of problems or potential issues. They did a very good job, and I watched every step to better educate myself. I would definitely hire them again.

Dustin was great! So very nice, helpful, and just a pleasure to have come and work at my Uncle's house. He came on time diagnosed the problem quickly, showed us the cause of our problem (tree roots), and fixed the issue. Awesome job!

After calling multiple septic companies and leaving messages to obtain a quote to pump and inspect our septic system, I decided to use Above Grade Septic for several reasons: 

1.) Exemplary customer service! -  Shortly after leaving a message for a call back, Dustin called back and explained their process and was able to schedule an appointment to have our septic tanks pumped in the same week.

2.) Expert Knowledge! -  On the day the pumping occured, both he and Travis arrived early to prep for the pump truck. Dustin reviewed the scope of the job while Travis took various measurments of liquid levels, performed pump and filter checks, etc. prepping the system for pumping. Both Travis and Dustin answered ALL of my questions in great detail and even provided valuable information which I was completely unaware of. 

3.) Trustworthy & Professional!  - After the tanks were pumped and it was time for payment, the tank truck charge ended up being more than he had originally quoted. After paying the gentleman directly, I mentioned this to Dustin who immediately stated he would adjust the final billing to reflect the mistake. I also purchased a custom filter which they would have to return later to install. I also mentioned to him that I wanted my septic system to be "worry free" and asked if they had a monthly payment plan that included a system "check-up" every 6 months, pumping every 3 years, and in the event of an emergency situation, I could call for immediate assistance. Without hesitation he responded SURE and told me he would get back to me with a price. On the day of installation, Travis arrived early (NOT LATE), and immediately went to work. Once again, he took the time to answer all of my questions in detail.

4.)  Peace of Mind & Reasonable Cost! - When the job was complete, Travis handed me an invoice for services rendered (which included the adjustment for the pumping), and a VERY REASONABLE monthly maintenance quote. We have since had them recalibrate our system, flush the lines, and perform a somewhat extensive (but not  astronomically expensive) repair. I highly recommend AGS for all of your septic system needs.

The project got off to a slow start with contractor who walked away due to complexity of design and limited work area for his equipment.  Above Grade was contacted and after an initial visit, Dustan arranged a site meeting with Designer and County Rep to discus the permitted plan.  A proposal for the work was accepted and I was on the waiting list.  My main concern beside the necessity of having a viable septic system, was to preserve as many of the mature plantings in the area to be used.  After a short wait the equipment and 2 workers Marshall and Micah arrived.  Marshall was able to set his equipment in a way that enabled him to follow the plan by reaching between the trees and bushes.  It took him a bit more time to adjust and set the machinery and I benefited from his efforts. Micah worked in the trenches with the depth stick and placement of the parts for the gravel less system.  Yes, my backyard still looked terrible, but the gardens have remained and the mature plants are showing signs of survival even though there were some roots that had to be sacrificed.   I lost one bush due to my transplanting it out of the way.

Because of the extent of the excavation, approximately 45 yards of soil had to be transported from the front of the property to the back yard , through a just wide enough gate up a curved pathway to the back yard.  Micah made the trip multiple times without incident, and helped spread and smooth out the topsoil.  It wasn't a landscaper's rake that was used, but the front and back were graded by the equipment to match up with the existing yard.  All residual parts and garbage were removed. 

Everyone from the company that I met were courteous and answered all my questions.  Tara who managed the office would always get back to me if I'd left a message - I always felt my project was receiving the attention that I thought it deserved.

After a really bad experience with another septic company a few months later the alarm went off. On a weekend. I called Above Grade based on a referral and he had me do some basic checks to avoid the extra fee of a weekend service call. They were out promptly on Monday and quickly diagnosed the issue. The prior septic company had not even reconnected one of the fittings for the pump. But the drain field was also clogged and needed to be cleaned out. Above Grade made the repairs the other company had caused, cleaned out the drain field to restore proper flow and we were back to normal again quickly.
Two things really stood out:
1) Great service - they were extremely courteous and prompt in all their responses, so unlike other septic companies I had worked with in the past.
2) Fair price - they really could have gouged me on this and did not.
Super impressed and will definitely be using them again in the future!

From start to finish I am super impressed with this company. I called first thing in the morning and I received a prompt call back to have someone come out. Travis was super knowledgable when he arrived and gave us recommendations to prolong the life of our system.

Above Grade Septic was recommended to us after having our tanks pumped and discovering that our drain field was in the process of failing.  I called Dustan, and he came over later that same afternoon.  Dustan walked us through the process explaining everything thoroughly, and answering all of our questions.  I felt very comfortable with Dustan so I hired him to do the job.  Even though the permit process seemed a little challenging because of demands from the County Health District the job was completed to my high expectations.  Dustan is very knowledgeable, patient, and very easy to talk to.  Since I knew absolutely nothing about septic systems I had lots of questions about cost, installation time etc.  I would highly recommend that you at least talk with Dustan if you are having problems with your septic system, you will be glad you did!

Dustan was helpful before I ever hired him (or knew I would need to). He spent nearly an hour on the phone with me about what permits to get and what the best and worst case scenarios would be for my old drainfield. We did use Above Grade Septic and are happy we did.

Project was done in a professional and timely manner at a good value  without  additional cost or delay.  Dustan did an excellent job in communicating
 with all those involved and in particular with the adjoining neighbors regarding right-of-way access  for sewer hookup.
