This was a terrible experience. Over the phone we were told that the owner himself, Greg, would be coming out to inspect the job and provide an hourly bid ($54/hour) as well as a project bid on the spot. We were clear that we were in a rush to get these repairs completed before new tenants moved in. The owner did not show up, but sent someone else, John, instead. John provided us with no hourly option for fees, only one bulk cost of $450, much more than we anticipated spending. I asked John to take off the toilet install, and he said he could do the other 3 jobs for $300. He had no bid sheet or written materials, so he wouldn't give me a written breakdown of any of this. Almost as soon as he got started, he told me he didn't think he could fix the troublesome light fixtures as he lacked the skills to fix electrical issues. I asked him to please not even consider working on anything he didn't feel equipped to do and to take those items off the total cost. I certainly wish that I would have been informed that this is out of their skill area when I originally called and set up the service! I had to leave to make another appointment, but right before I did he offered to do the toilet install for only $100 since he wouldn't be doing the lights. I agreed in my haste. John left the job before I could make it back to inspect the work. He called to collect $350 over the phone, which did not add up since he didn't do the lights. He also mentioned that he couldn't get power to the bathroom fan but he assumed it was installed correctly. I asked to speak to the owner. The owner, Greg, then spoke to me and was very pushy about the price. I explained that what John had verbally told me during the work being done was to expect a total charge of $250. I spent nearly an hour on the phone with Greg with him haggling with me until we settled on $275. Later that day, when we returned to the home, we found that John had completely ruined our electrical box. The main breaker switch was broken off, the entire thing would no longer work and power was completely off in the home. We immediately called Greg to tell him this and learned that he had already known this. How could he charge us anything when they were aware that they had caused such damage?? Greg also told me he did not have the skills to fix the broken electrical box. We found an emergency electrician and set up for him to come out the next day. Greg refused to refund any money, and said he would meet the electrician to remedy the situation himself. We soon learned that the bathroom fan was installed extremely poorly and completely against electrical code. The electrician informed us that it was a major safety hazard, and I passed on the information to Greg. Greg never did show up the next day, continued to refuse to even partially refund the job, and it cost us $500 to have the electrician fix all the damage that was done. I've never written a negative review like this before, but I just hope no one else would have to go through the stress and expense that we did in this situation.
Description of Work: We hired this company to help with a few minor repairs on a rental we were in a rush to get rented. The job we hired them for was to troubleshoot 2 problematic light fixtures, install a new bathroom fan/light, and install a toilet.

I would like to start out by saying, We are committed to a high standard of quality work that is backed by our 100% Guarantee on all our work including labor and materials. We have, over the years built a reputation for excellent customer service and do not like to read that a customer is or was not satisfied with our work. We tried numberous times to rectify this situation with our customer, but had a bad experience from the get go. We would love to send the owner out to meet and greet all our customers, but unfortunatly that is not always possible. In your review you stated that no hourly rate was given just a bulk price of $450.00 and yet in the paragraph above you stated you got an hourly bid of $54.00. We gave you an option of a flat rate as well because you requested one. In your satement you also said you wish you were informed that we do not have the skills to do some troublesome light fixtures. We don't know what we are into untill we get to the job to look at it. When John got to the job, he informed you immediatly that the main breaker switch was faulty and you said you had someone out prior to us who kept turning it on/off. He did not want to tamper with it because it looked like it had some problems not to mention it was outside and exposed to all the ellements. Main breaker boxes are suppose to be installed indoors. In a garage or closet are okay as well, but not on any exterior of the property. Unfortunatly in order for John to do the job, he did need to turn the power off. The customer took off and he could not explain to her that the power would not go back on. We are licensed contractors, but we are limited on what we are allowed to do on electrical or plumbing repairs. We offered to go and meet the electrician their at the job and asked that we get a call when he is going to be there and Greg would meet him there. We never recieved that call. We were happy to come back out and fix any issues, but we are busy and don't want to go there and wait all day for an electrician when there is no confirmation on when the electrician would arrive. Right away before we even started working on your home, you had an issue with the price, so we took $100.00 off the top. Then you gave us the okay to perform the work. You say you only okayed the toilet install, but when did you okay the bathroom fan/light fixture install? Our guy would not have installed it without your consent. We tried numberous times to work with you on pricing and took off even more from the $350.00. You agreed to $275.00 We charged you and then you wanted everything done for free. We are not to blame for your faulty main breaker box that someone else tampered with before we even came out. We were still willing to come out and see if we could help to fix the propblem. We do not like to hear that a customer is unsatisfied with our service. I sincerely wish you would have called us when the electrician was coming so we could have solved this issue.

It was a long week because of the disruption to the house, but the end product was well worth it.
Description of Work: Greg did a great job for us on a living room wall repair and paint job that became more complicated as he moved through it. He managed every challenge calmly and did excellent work. He matched a textured wall pattern so that you can't see the repair at all. We plan to call Greg again for more work. He cleaned up at the end of every day. We are very pleased with the finished job and would recommend him to others.
