This was a very positive experience from start to finish. I emailed O'Neill's directly from Angie's List, and owner Tim phoned me within a half-hour. I explained the problem and asked him to please send someone who could appreciate the beauty of old plumbing and original plaster. Tim was professional and amicable, and he really thought about whom he would send. He had people available the next day, but asked if I could wait a couple of days so that he could send one of his more senior people. I felt utterly looked after. Dale and Jessica arrived right on time on the date of service, and Dale was able to diagnose the problem quickly. He asked me whether I wanted to keep the old pipes (yes), and he warned that when he removed the decorative plate from where the pipe entered the wall, it could cause some damage to the paint. Within an hour, the problem was fixed, and the work was immaculate. No damage to the wall or the original pipes, and the area was left cleaner than when they arrived (Dale even took time to remove a calcium deposit on the tile floor under the sink, which had been there since we moved in six years ago). He and Jessica were professional, courteous, and thorough, and they didn't waste a moment. Dale was clear about pricing and spot-on about the amount of time the job would take, but I was a little surprised by the estimated (and actual) cost of $175 for this work. The truth is, however, that I don?t have enough experience with plumbers to know whether this is competitive. Dale did say that the job would have been faster had he been allowed to replace some of the older hardware (remember those beautiful pipes I wanted to keep?). All in all, the cost is a minor gripe, because I found the people at O?Neill?s so capable, knowledgeable, and, yes, I have to say it, NICE. Oh, and I got to avail of an Angie?s List coupon, which knocked $30 off! Thank you!
Description of Work: I have a tiny hanging basin in a tiny main-floor powder room. It has separate hot and cold water faucets, and beautiful, vintage pipes and hardware that are totally visible. The hot water pipe was leaking slowly where it connected to another pipe at the wall, and the result was a thin ribbon of dampness down the wall to the tile floor. Dale and an apprentice, Jessica, arrived and replaced a stripped nipple, leaving my original "angle stop" and "riser" intact.

After flushing then plunging a second floor toilet, the toilet overflowed quickly and powerfully when it was flushed a second time. My son cleaned up the bathroom and while taking the towels to the basement heard a dripping sound in the living room. He emailed me at work and I called O'Neill Plumbing Co to explain the situation. They were able to fit us in the schedule that afternoon. Because I was at work, I could only picture water dripping through the living room ceiling. The voice on the phone was knowledgeable, calm and reassuring.

Prompt, expedient, thorough, tidy, fairly priced.
Description of Work: A water pipe broke within the wall of our home. By the time we discovered it, our downstairs basement bedroom carpet was sodden. O'Neil came on time, worked expediently to fix the problem, and cleaned up afterwards. A few small non-essential but annoying other small bathroom and kitchen problems were also repaired on the same call. Service men were professional. There was a small issue of insufficient communication on the part of the service man; the scope of the problem was larger than I had anticipated and I was not made aware of this till the work was done. I had not question that the work done was appropriate, it just would have been nice to know as they discovered the magnitude of the problem. I communicated this to Tim O'Neil, the owner. He is very professional and responsive. I have since had O'Neil out for a clogged kitchen sink and, John, the serviceman was prompt, speedy, clear, tidy and the job was done well. That job was $97, with the Angie's List discount $77.

The company was very responsive and courteous over the phone when I called and they were able to send someone out within a few days of my call. On the day of service, the plumber showed up 30 minutes late due to a previous job, which would have been OK if he called to let us know. I had to call the company and ask when he was going to show up. Once I did that they put me straight into a manager who gave me detailed information. When he showed up, I explained what needed to be done and he gave me an estimate on price and time, which ended up being right on. He was careful to explain what could go wrong with each job before he did it and did not do any extra work without asking me first. He was clearly an experienced and knowledgeable plumber who gave us helpful advice with the house. Unfortunately, he was not able to resolve the gutter drain problem due to old pipes, but called for one of the company's estimators to come out free of charge that same afternoon to give us further advice on the problem. The estimator was very intelligent and knowledgeable about the problem and gave good recommendations for possible solutions. Overall this is a good company with a professional staff. We have faulted them only for their punctuality and their price, which is definitely on the high end of the spectrum. The plumber works at a rate of $160.00 per hour.
Description of Work: Snaked 4 gutter drains (and could not open them due to a larger problem), helped band-aid a failing toilet and repaired leaking sink drain.

Checked Angie's List for reference. Picked O'Neill based upon ratings. They indicated that they could not make emergency service calls but I opted to use them anyway as the leak was not that bad. They arrived on Tuesday morning as agreed. The repairs were made quickly and efficiently. Nels did an exceptional job. Will use again if any plumbing problem arises.

We needed a plumber to install a kitchen faucet, instant hot water dispenser and soap dispenser, and time permitting, replace a bathroom faucet. All communication with this company was great. The plumber showed up on time and was very professional and personable throughout. As it turned out, he did not install the instant hot water dispenser (he said it was too cheap of a product) or replace the bathroom faucet, but gave an approximate estimate (a cost that would be 3 times more than the cost of the faucet) should I make another appointment. After he left, I had to tighten the soap dispenser because the base was loose. Also, the base of the kitchen faucet was loose. Luckily, nothing is leaking, which is the most important thing I suppose!
Description of Work: We needed to install a new kitchen faucet, instant hot water dispenser, soap dispenser, and replace a bathroom faucet. The actual work that was performed was installation of the kitchen faucet and soap dispenser, but not the instant hot water dispenser or bathroom faucet.

I felt very satisfied with how things went. I appreciate a company that can work with me around issues of cost. I am happy to pay a fair price for specialized work, but I need to save on things which I can do myself or I can hire unskilled labor to do. That makes some projects possible on my income. There was a surprise in the bill which I phoned the company to question. It had to do with an erroneous assumption the billing department had made and was corrected without any problem.
Description of Work: My old plastic water line had started leaking and I fixed it myself in about three places over about 5 years before finally deciding to have it replaced. The first company I talked with was very professional but suggested a trenchless method, which I really didn't need because I didn't have any landscaping worth saving. Alternately, they would have dug a trench, but that was expensive, too. I asked about digging my own trench and discovered that would save me almost HALF their estimate! The estimator was OK with that, however he did make it sound a bit over my head (which maybe it was). When Cevin from O'Neill came out, he was very supportive about that approach and we agreed that I would do the trenching and they would replace about 50 feet of plastic pipe with copper, and do the connections between the meter and the house on a time and material basis. The trenching was a bit trickier than I anticipated but Cevin coached me over the phone and I got that completed for about $400 using laborers I hired. The O'Neill plumber came out on schedule and completed his end quickly and efficiently. I paid a day laborer $100 to help me fill in the trench using a couple pointers from Cevin, such as keeping large stones from contacting the pipe.

Great. John was very kind and a great worker.
Description of Work: Our hot water in our kitchen sink had slowed to a small trickle. John came out, told me what he was going to do to assess the problem, did it and fortunately was able to fix it quickly. A piece of rust had lodged in the stem. He installed a new supply riser after flushing it into a bucket, unclogged the stem, and it now works like a charm!

He did a good job as far as I know. He arrived on time. He parked on my grass parking strip with his large truck. I asked him to move it so it wouldn't crush any of the pipes underneath. He worked pretty slow and they charge by the hour. He did find a lot of issues, he changed a pipe prior to asking me and I think he should have asked for approval beforehand. There was a major communication problem with this. The total price did surprise me.
Description of Work: They snaked out the drains and because they said one of the pipes was questionable, they replaced the pipe. He also hooked up a portable dishwasher. He fixed a bathtub stopper.

It went very well; Nels worked quickly, efficiently, gave direction following the conclusion of the work, left the area clean and neat.
Description of Work: I needed the pipes changed under the kitchen sink; they no longer met code. I couldn't turn the cold water shut off valve, the dishwasher next to the sink was leaking and I wanted water hooked to the ice maker in my frig. Nels arrived promptly on time, was courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. He changed out the pipes, told me the leaking dishwasher could be from the hose needing to be higher where it entered the garbage disposal, replaced the cold water shut off valve and prepped the "water to the frig" valve. Since I was having new hardwood floors installed in the kitchen, he suggested I wait until that job was completed to drill for the frig water line.

He arrived on time and diagnosed the situation quickly. He worked quickly and I was very impressed with the precision of the work--it just looked really tight all those joints in that small space done very elegantly.
Description of Work: He re-plumbed a very large kitchen sink, including garbage disposal. He removed existing plumbing under the sink and replaced with new. I ordinarily do plumbing myself, but the space was very tight and I didn't have the skill to get everything connected in a tight space.

They came out on a Thursday at 8 AM to fix a leaky toilet. Problem was diagnosed as a worn gasket/seal or two, which were replaced. Later that night, I went to see if the toilet had been leaking and in doing so, put both hands on the top of the tank to lean over to look behind the toilet. When I did that, I immediately saw water shoot out from around one of the bolts in the tank. I called O'Neill first thing the next morning and they sent someone out later that day (this was Friday). He took off and reset the bolts going into the tank and it has not leaked since. They did not charge for the return visit. I found Ken, who did the service, to be punctual and professional. The dispatcher was very nice and helped facilitate quick turnaround time on appointments. I gave them a B for quality because it took a return visit. Since I know next to nothing about plumbing, I don't know if checking the bolts to the tank should have been done on the first visit. I gave them a B for price because their rates seem to be a bit above the industry average, but not egregiously so. I really appreciated that they did the return visit as a no-charge extension of the first. I would hire them again for any plumbing issues in my home.
Description of Work: Toilet was leaking. They came out once to fix it, and spent about an hour replacing a few parts. Later that night, the toilet leaked again. They came out the next day and did a few minor adjustments that have solved the problem. They did not charge for the return visit.

We discovered a leak in a vacant rental house's water tank on a Sunday. Since the house was vacant we just shut off the water to the whole house and the power to the water heater, rather than pay for an emergency visit from a plumber. The following Monday we called O'Neill. They were very responsive, gave us a "flat rate" for replacing the water heater of $950(which included 1.5 hours of labor), and had a plumber out within an hour. They quickly disconnected the old water tank, and installed the new one. They did good work. The only problem was that one guy can't really haul an old water tank out. So, they brought along a second plumber (or plumber helper, I wasn't sure which). So, the labor was a bit higher than the "flat" $950. So, I would suggest that they forget about the "flat" program, and just let people know that it will likely be a few man hours to remove and install a water heater. The most frustrating part was when they were waiting for the old water tank to drain. Everything was completed, the new water heater was installed, but they had two plumbers standing there for a good 45 minutes doing nothing but watch the water drain out. I was really impressed with the response time, and the installation work, but was very anxious about the guys standing around while on the clock. Objectively, I know that there wasn't much they could do except wait it out. But in the end, I think they knew that I was frustrated, because they dropped one of the guys labor by an hour. But still, it ended up being $400 more than the "flat rate". So, I still give O'Neill an A--but wasn't completely thrilled with the price in the end.
Description of Work: O'Neill replaced a leaky hot water tank.

We purchased our home in 2006 and had several things either replaced or fixed by O'Neill Plumbing. They are number one on our list... They are courteous, on time and very much into customer service which is number one for me. They put booties on their shoes when they enter your house, they leave the area clean, and they are always on time. It has been a pleasant experience to actually find a company that does great work and cares about the customer. If the service was bad I would not have called them ever again... A must try if you need a plumber.
Description of Work: We have had O'Neill out several times over a 2 year period. The first time was to help repair a leak that we discovered in the powder room wall. The second time was to replace all 3 shower heads in the house with new shower heads, and the most recent was to unclog the kitchen sink and snake out the clog. All service calls were done in a timely manner with no issues and with total professionalism.

We had a leak in our ceiling. A plumber was sent out and spent an ample amount of time. He wanted a second opinion before he started making holes in walls. A second plumber came out and gave us the advise to locate the problem by using/not using shower, toilet, sinks, etc until the leak stopped. He didn't want us to have to put holes in walls either. Once the location is identified, we will call them back. We were not charged for either visit.
