Great, the plumber was on time and was very knowledgeable, describing to my husband exactly what he was doing, it was apparent that he was trying to become "our regular plumber" and now he will be (hopefully we don't really need a regular plumber, but you know what I mean) we were extremely satisfied and thankful that the price was affordable.

I caught the end of the tubing (it had been disconnected because it had sprung a leak) and aimed it into the sink, but if I put it down, then it would spray wildly, so I was stuck. Until I remembered I had my cell phone in my pocket. So I called O'Neill and said that I now had an emergency and needed help right away. The dispatcher was sympathetic and said she'd so the best she could, but no one was near my neighborhood. Eventually, Ken, my hero, arrived, and fixed things. It was one of those horrible, funny experiences, but Ken is a great plumber, no nonsense guy, with a good humor. Doesn't waste his time or your money.
Description of Work: I had just called O'Neill Plumbing and made an appointment for the next day for a plumber to come out and fix the copper tubing connection at the refrigerator end. However, the very next time I turned on the kitchen faucet, the old plastic valve that had been shut off under kitchen sink broke catastrophically jetting water all over my new wood floors! Yikes!

The people I spoke with on the phone were very friendly and helpful, and scheduled a plumber to come out at the arranged time and date. We had discovered while doing some remodeling that the main gate valve in the house for shutting off the water was not closing properly. This is a fairly common problem with this kind of valve. This valve would be difficult to replace because it was placed very close to where the pipe comes out of the concrete floor originally. After some discussion of the options, the plumber recommended that we leave the existing valve which was basically stuck open, and put a secondary valve downstream of it. He pointed out that since we were planning on doing some more extensive plumbing in the future, this would be an affordable and fast solution for now, until we are ready to move the water heater, cut into the concrete, etc. The plumber then performed the agreed upon work quickly and expertly, and was very friendly as well. As I'm a pretty advanced DIYer and have researched a lot about future hot water plumbing systems, he even spent a few minutes chatting with me and giving advice about the alternatives and pros/cons. Very awesome. I will definitely be calling O'Neill again at any point where I get in over my head, or perhaps just want something done faster than I can do it myself. :)

The journeyman plumber showed up on time and did a fantastic job. The guy that I bought my house from did a pretty lousy job with the powder room plumbing. He fixed all of the shoddy work and reinstalled the toilet after I had the hardwood floors refinished. I was rather surprised by the labor rate being $160 per hour, but the work done was great.

They were prompt and did a great job digging down to the source of the problem and making repairs. When finished all the dirt that was taken out was put back in and settled nicely.( A minor complaint was the picking up of cigarette butts.) No more "creek" flowing in the basement! I scheduled another drainage job with a starting date of Oct. 9. No shows and no call. I called in---would start Oct. 12. No shows again and no call. I called again and was told that since the rainy season has started would have to put it off 'til summer. My deposit was refunded. Must admit that, even though a good job was done with the first project I'd hesitate in calling again.

O'neill replaced a broken faucet assembly in 2/08 and at the time appeared to do a good job, however only 2 years later it was leaking badly. O'neill replaced it again. They did a good job again, but because the original faucet assembly only lasted 2 years I was hoping to get more of a price break on the new one. I realize that it was out of the warranty range, but the plumber did indicate that they usually last 6 - 7 years

You want a company with a good service ethic, call O'Neill. Personally. After they performed my plumbing work, there were lingering concerns which hadn't been addressed by the plumber on site. (These were largely the product of miscommunications between the plumber and myself.) Feeling to blame for these mistakes, I posted a less-than-satisfied review on Angie's List, and the next day I received a call from Tim O'Neill himself seeking--on his own initiative and for free--to address my concerns. I accepted, and he had a serviceman out at my house within an hour, fixing everything to my satisfaction. The mark of a good company is not only the quality of their work or their punctuality, though those are of course important. But really good service that goes above and beyond the call? That's how you know you've made the right choice.

I started with a drain cleaning company chosen from the Yellow Pages. Their bid was $7000 up. That was enough to say "STOP" and get another bid. (The company dropped their bid to $4400). I got two names from Angies list and both bid the same work for 1/3 the cost. I selected O'Neill Plumbing Co. They arrived when scheduled. They were friendly and professional. They even put down plywood, rather than tarp, to minimize lawn mess. They did not go over bid, and I had no surprises. I recommend them and I WILL hire them again if I need any kind of plumbing work. .
Description of Work: Sewer line blocked. O'Neill Co gave me 3 quotes, depending on severity of damage. They dug 6' down to discover sewer line broken, missing sections of pipe. Had to dig a trench 9 or 10 feet deep, 10' long, and replace all the pipe to reconnect to city sewer.

We'd been finding water under the kitchen sink off and on for months. Last weekend, we finally determined the source of the problem, the cold water intake, so I called to schedule a visit. The person I spoke with on the phone was polite and courteous. She was able to schedule an appointment for the next day and gave me my choice of times. The plumber arrived on time. He quickly fixed the leaking cold water intake and showed us where our kitchen faucet was also leaking. We hadn't noticed that. He said he had a replacement faucet in his truck that was similar to the one we already had and offered to replace it immediately. He quoted both the cost for the faucet and materials and the amount of extra time it would take to install it. While my husband and I talked it over, he checked the bathroom drain, which we thought was draining too slowly. My husband asked him if he'd snaked the drain in the bathroom and he said he had not because he didn't think it needed it. We decided to replace the kitchen faucet. He performed the work efficiently, finishing sooner that he'd estimated. After he left, I noticed that he left a mysterious roll of paper towels on the kitchen floor and that his tool cart had left hard-to-clean black marks on both the kitchen and bathroom floors. Later, when I used the bathroom sink, I discovered that it still wasn't draining as well as I'd like. Overall, our experience was good, but not stellar.

I'm very satisfied with the work done. The bill reflects the 4 hours plus several new parts required, but there was no extra charge for having the second fellow come out, plus, Ken cut his 1/2 hour lunch short (15 minutes) because he wanted to try and get back at the problem. He also remembered to take $30 off the bill (Angie's List discount) without my even asking for it. I've found this company to be honest and thorough.
Description of Work: Vacuumed out standing water (which also had a bottle of Draino Gel in it) from kitchen sink; removed clogs, snaked out pipes -- in this 50 year old house, thick black sludge had developed in the pipes leading from the kitchen down through the basement. Ken cleared out the upper pipes but the sludge in the lower pipes through the basement stubbornly refused to clear despite snaking out 60 feet (I think). Ken called in to the office and a second fellow came out (Steve) and together they devised a plan to try and pressure the sludge out to the main line. This worked!

The guy who came out was great. He checked out the problem and did a couple of tests with the pipes to figure out where exactly the leak was coming from. He went through a crawlspace in our garage to get to the wall of the bathroom upstairs, found the leak and corrected it. He also did a little bit of drywall work and made it look like he was never there. I would definitely call him again. He knew what was going on. He came out and did a great job.

Technician arrived on time and proceeded to analyse and test the water supply system in a logical fashion, starting at the street meter and working toward and then inside the house, from shutoff valve to shutoff valve. He found three shutoff valves (one exterior, two interior) were closed. He looked for evidence of leakage along the entire route and throughout the entire basement. He could not look under the carpet, which covers linoleum tiles which cover a concrete slab. Finding nothing, he concluded that the cause was not a broken pipe and probably was not a slow leak. The next step, he said, was to pull up the carpet to look for tell-tale evidence of the water source. It appears the source is ground water, but the point of entry is as yet undiscovered. The next day, we brought out Wu Construction for a free estimate for improving the exterior drainage system.
Description of Work: Inspection to determine if a water pipe to or inside the house had broken, causing the water spillage we found in the basement over the weekend. if so, then fix the problem.

I had scheduled another plumber until I turned to Angie's List. Based on the recommendations of others, I called O'Neill at 11:00 at night. O'Neill Plumbing did not call the next morning so I called them. They said they did not know what happened to my voice mail message. Nevertheless I set an apointment even though it was 2 days after our problem began. The plumber, Steve, was excellent, professional, reassuring to my wife and kept things clean. He finished his work in a timely manner. Had it not been for the office's failure to return my call, I'd have given every aspect of our experience an "A+".

I was treated very rudely and the sales team failed to follow through. I'm incredibly disappointed and would never recommend O'Neill again. I was scheduled to meet with Randy sometime between 10:00 and 11:00 AM. I never heard him knock, so I called at 11:15 to find out what had happened. Randy said he was there at 10:30 and knocked but I didn't answer. (He was telling the truth - I later found his business card stuck in the door.) I called O'Neill's office to find out what happened and the receptionist transferred me to Randy. He explained he had come by and I told Randy that I was in the basement and must not have heard him knock. I was stunned he didn't have the presence of mind to call me, so I asked him why he didn't just call me, especially after I had given him my cell phone number the day before. I invited him to come over right away and take a look. Instead of apologizing, offering to come over right then or explaining that he couldn't do it now but would love to reschedule, he began to berate me for being in the basement and not hearing him knock. Randy never explained why he didn't call when he arrived and didn't explain why he didn't call earlier that morning or when he was on his way just to verify the appointment was still on. He didn't even try to call me when he got back to the office to try to find out what happened and see if I would like to reschedule. He just stuck his business card in the door and walked off. That's a pretty stunning lack of follow through for a sales professional. Based on my interaction with him, Randy doesn't care about making sales and is so disconnected for his responsibilities as a salesperson that he thinks it's O.K. to be outright rude to a customer because the customer didn't wait by the door for his arrival and the customer questioned why he didn't bother to call before arriving, when at the door or after he returned to the office. The really sad part of the story is that O'Neill was the only plumber I called. I'd used them several years ago, bid out the work and their pricing was competitive and the work was decent quality. Had Randy not botched his job so badly, this would have been guaranteed business for them. "B" for responsiveness because I was able to get through on the phone easily. "C" for punctuality because he arrived on time but failed to call at any time to verify the appointment or to try to find out why I wasn't answering the door. "F" for professionalism because he was exceptionally rude and never apologized, even if just to say "Sorry for the mix up." There are other Seattle area plumbers with excellent ratings and I'm happy to use one of them. I'll never call O'Neill again.

I am truly sorry for your disappointment with my sales staff. I have spoken to Randy @ great lengths regarding the details you have provided, and he has another side to this matter that you may or may not be aware of. I am happy to meet with you @ any time to discuss our differences of opinions. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience we have caused you. Sincerely, Tim O'Neill

We have used them over the years, but when we saw them on Angie's List as an "A" company, we decided to hire them for this job. They gave us a coupon because of Angie's List. They were very interested that we found them on the list. We had a flooded basement and they went in and analyzed the situation. They eneded up installing 165 feet of drain seals in the front yard. It was an emergency because the basement was flooding, and they met us out there the very next day after calling them. They walked us through all of the options. They were very knowledgeable about everything that we could do inside the basement and the outside. They came up with the most reasonable and practical to do this time of year. They were more reasonable than the water-proofing people who wanted to dig everything up. We were very pleased. The people who answered the phones were very polite and followed up. We were able to contact them over e-mail while we were traveling. We have used them in the past for some of our other properties, but this was just above and beyond.

Our bathroom sink didn't drain very well and toilet was always clogged up. Dale cleaned the drain and told me how to clean next time when it happened.
