The plumber snaked the side sewer and thought he'd found the blockage, and put the bathroom back in order only to find the blockage was still there, so had to snake a second time, this time going all the way to the street sewer line. That took care of the problem! Thank goodness. Now I am more particular about what toilet tissue, etc is going down the line! This was the first time the sewer has backed up in over 40 years.
Description of Work: The side sewer backed up late on a Saturday afternoon. The plumber brought in a heavy-duty snake to go through the sewer system.

Person on the phone was helpful, and the service was good. He diagnosed the problem quickly, explained the issue to me, and fixed it without any issues. Overall, the service was great. My only issue is the price - 2 hours to remove a clogged drain at $170 per hour seemed high.

O'Neill Plumbing was great. I called them and set up an appointment. The 2-hour window that I was given was noon-2pm and Tyler showed up at 12:30. We discussed the issue, he got what he needed from his truck and went straight to work. He took special care to make sure that the washing machine wouldn't scratch up the wood floor by placing a drop cloth under it before he moved it. He finished the job within the hour. He also answered a couple of other plumbing related questions that I had.
Description of Work: Replace laundry washing machine shut-offs. The old ones were corroded.

They were quite responsive although the only challenge I experienced was that I thought the technician was going to call the house to set up a time but he showed up when I was not there. Luckily I had a friend at the house who knew somebody was going to call and come to do the work so he was able to get started without having to wait for me to get home. I had told the dispatcher I had to be gone for a while but that message was apparently not passed along. The job was a pretty messy one but the technician did not take too long to get to the trouble and get the vent and drain cleared. He also did a good job of cleaning up the kitchen area when he was done. Becuase of the timing being on the weekend there was an emergency weekend charge added even though it was during the middle of the day, so it turned out to be a fairly expensive job. But I had been advised in advance and I wanted to get the job done right away so that was the choice I made. I would call them again but would do anything I could to call during the day Monday through Friday to save the added expense.
Description of Work: My problem was a clogged kitchen sink which turned out to have a clogged drain vent.

Arrival was about an hour later than appointment time. I know that traffic was a real slog because of tremendous rain, and the office did call me before the appointment time to alert me to the possibility that arrival would likely be delayed 30-60 minutes. Once arrived, got right to work. Though I had specifically made the appointment for hydro-jet clearing of the line based upon the first plumbing company telling me that was what was necessary, O'Neill ended up using mechanical means to clear the line (the first plumbing company said that wasn't possible) and did not charge me for using hydro-jet. The gentleman was friendly, professional, and thoroughly explained what he found and what he recommended I do. Though I was prepared for additional (and major) sewer line work he was clear that he didn't think there was a need for that.
Description of Work: Sewer line from house to city line needed roots removed. One plumbing company dad already come out to do the job but failed to clear the line.

Steve, from O'Neill plumbing, came to my home and was able to retrieve the part from the pedestal and installed my new angle stop, supply lines and p trap on the pedestal sink. He also replaced the diverter on my bathtub faucet. He was very professional and courteous and explained the entire process.
Description of Work: A part from my bathroom sink drain fell down into the pedestal and I could not retrieve it. The pedestal bolts were rusted and it was impossible for me to remove them. My supply lines needed to be replaced. Also, my bathtub faucet diverter was leaking.

This service call began with a lot of stress on my part, due to the fact we were expecting to dig a new sewer line to the street based on previous visits from a couple of other plumbing companies. John, the plumber sent to us by O'Neill Plumbing, quickly talked me down from the proverbial ledge and proceeded clam my nerves by the quick and efficient way he determined and dealt with the issues. We have all heard about doctors with a good "bedside" manner, well, John has a good "toilet-side" manner. Clean and courteous, fast and efficient and best of all, a good listener. I would not hesitate to have O'Neill Plumbing back in my house. I have already recommended them to my neighbor and they reported excellent service.
Description of Work: Exposed main sewer line transition at front of house. 3" cast iron to 4" clay. Root mass approx 0~12' out. Cabled drain line and removed roots. Eliminated drain line to approx 12' and installed PVC-DWV w/clean-out. Installed Watts 3/4" PRV in crawl space. PSI set to 75 approx. Installed new PVC-dublar kitchen sink drain.

We live in a house built in 1925 with cabinets that are 4 inches too short for a full size dishwasher. I requested an estimate, the plumber came out and estimated a 6 hour job due to all the demo. I scheduled him. The only problem with the whole job, was the person who did the scheduling sent the wrong guy out to do the job. They did, however, quickly solve the problem and rearranged Nelson's schedule. He came as soon as he could and got right to work. He worked quickly and efficiently and did the job 2 hours faster than he had estimated. He was thorough and cleaned up after himself. He also suggested that my used dishwasher be checked for recalls. It turns out he was right and I had a faulty electrical board. I have since used this company and have been equally impressed with the quality of work.
Description of Work: A cabinet front and countertop were removed to make space for a dishwasher. Kitchen was plumbed for a dishwasher, and dishwasher was installed. Drain line was cleaned.

Plumber showed up on time and got right to it. He clearly knew what he was doing and had all the tools/parts to perform the job on his truck. He got the toilet out and cabled the line. Found some roots in there. Once done he inspected the crawl space to make sure everything was ok in there. We are in an old house and have no outside clean-out access. He recommended to get one installed. He reset the toilet and cleaned up everything before leaving. Excellent service. The only reason why I didn't give them straight As is that it took them a couple of days to get back to me after I've left a voicemail for their scheduling department. I'm not really sure what is consireded acceptable in the industry, but I was expecting a call back at the same day.

Seamless. Informative. Clean. On time. Terrific!
Description of Work: We'd had a mini flood in our daylight basement due to our washing machine. We initially thought we simply needed to replace the hose, but as we handwashed some dishes one night, more water leaked into our basement. We decided to call a plumber. O'Neill's home office is near where we used to live so we thought of them first. Scheduling was a breeze. John came out to investigate and only had to snake the line. We were fearing the worst: a root, a broken ceramic drainpipe, an unhooked connection; but after just a thorough cleaning, our water troubles seem to be behind us. John was prepared to do a scope of the pipes, but after success with the snake, he felt we would be just fine. As a wonderful side effect, we have much more water pressure to our washing machine and now can do laundry in so much less time. In addition, John suggested that we replace the hoses between the washer and the water pipe, as well as the on/off valves that had become quite rusty with age. My husband and I likely would have figured out how to do this, but felt it was simply easier for John to do it - he had the parts - so minutes later we had some new hardware as well. Incidentally, two days later, our upstairs shower lost its water and the new on/off valves for the washing machine water were gently leaking. We left a message with O'Neill over the weekend, and promptly, that Monday morning, we received a call to schedule someone to come take a look. When I got home that night from work, it was as if no one had been there and our problems were fixed - at NO CHARGE. O'Neill Plumbing has earned our respect and business!

One Thursday night we happened to be outside when our dishwasher was running and discovered the waste water was running through our rockery wall. Yikes! I called O'Neill first thing Friday and was told the earliest they could have somebody out was the following Monday. We called another highly rated Angie's List plumber who came out the same day. They dug down to the concrete pipe near the kitchen, broke a hole into it, and scoped/snaked it, trying to clear the obstruction. They were unable to do so and told me I'd be looking at 6K to pipe burst the line (they drag pvc pipe through the old concrete, splitting the old pipe in the process). After paying them $300 for this information, I decided to get a second opinion and O'Neill came out Monday. Long story short, they were able to dig down in another location where the pipe was thoroughly clogged with mud and roots, cut out that section of pipe, replace it, and power-snake the remaining roots out of the line. They also tied in a downspout that had originally been tight-lined but that a previous homeowner had directed onto a splash block, creating a pond by the side of our house every time it rained. They replaced the section of pipe that had been broken by the first company, creating a clean-out access point that makes it easy to scope and snake for roots in future, and re-did the pipe from the break to where it came out of the house. They were very courteous, even to the point of advising me that I might want to remove my dog from the house when they had to jackhammer out a portion of sidewalk to get to the obstructed pipe. In an odd coincidence, when they were flushing the line, a toilet on the lower level of my house starting seeping water out by the base. I notified them and they came in and opened up the main stack and scoped it to see what could have caused it. We'd never had any problems with our interior plumbing and nothing seemed amiss on the scope. Although they didn't have to, they did the right thing and sent a guy out the next day to pull the toilet, put a new wax ring on it, and re-set it. While they said nothing that they were doing could have caused the seepage, they didn't fuss or try to nickel and dime me, but went the extra mile. What a nice thing to do! O'Neill sticks to plumbing, they don't do concrete, but gave me a referral name and number for a concrete specialist to have the sidewalk re-poured. We elected to go with pavers for the time being, but the referral was appreciated. Cevin was my main contact and was very thoughtful, courteous, and professional, even lending his experienced hand to the process of grinding roots out of the line. The other guys on the job were just as polite, professional, and hard-working as could be. Going with O'Neill saved us $3500 over the bid from the first company and I would not hesitate to use them again. We were extremely grateful to not have the expense of having to pipe burst the entire run of pipe. We also know that we will have to keep a close eye on the line in the future and will use O'Neill for that service. They even came back several weeks after the job was done, and made a DVD of the interior of the line that we can use to compare against future observations. Just a professional, well-done job all the way around, and we couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Excavated and removed clogged section of concrete kitchen drain line. Replaced with PVC pipe. Flushed, snaked, and scoped drain line/side sewer all the way to the main. Removed tree roots. Replaced section of pipe where another company had made a hole to send scope. Created a new clean-out access to make future inspection and snaking/root removal. Made DVD of side-sewer line for our records. Tied a downspout in.

The person I spoke to initially on the phone was very helpful. An appointment was made for a few days out. The plumber had finished up his last appointment early, so I was contacted to see if the plumber could come to my place about an hour earlier. That was great. Plumber arrived, assessed the problem, suggested proactive way to resolve the problem, and was out within 30 minutes. Overall, the experience was a very good one.
Description of Work: The rubber flapper was disintegrating and no longer was attached to the chain. The parts on this toilet hadn't been changed in at least 17 years. Plumber suggested installing their basic kit since the parts were old. All this was done within the initial 30 minutes.

Nels arrived on time and listened to all I had to tell him. He gave the snake solution a try, just in case he got lucky, but he did need to cut into the wall. I was so impressed by the care he took to advise me to remove some special, breakable items from kitchen shelves, just incase the vibrations of the saw dislodged them. And he also cautioned that it might make a lot of noise so I chose to take my sensitive greyhound out for a walk while that was going on. He got the drain unclogged and installed some sort of "T" that will enable my handyman to access this pipe without recutting the wall should it ever clog again. I really appreciate that forward thinking! Nels was particularly friendly and professional and took extra care about so many things, leaving the place clean and making sure all my questions and concerns were properly addressed. The guy had already been working since 7am when he got here at 4pm and there wasn't one iota of lapse in professionalism. O'Neill has helped me with a clogged sewer pipe when I bought this old house 11 years ago, and just a few years ago installed a new water heater. I have always been impressed with their service and knowledge.
Description of Work: Excuse my lack of proper terms here, but my kitchen and bathroom sinks both drain inside the same wall to the same downpipe. There was a clog in the downpipe. My favorite handyman tried to ready the clog using a snake, but couldn't get it to make that 90 degree turn downward into the downpipe and figured we'd have to cut into the wall. He didn't have time on hsi schedule, so I call O'Neill Plumbing. I've used them in the past and they've always been great.

Everyone we dealt with was pleasant and professional. The make everything easy for the customer. The two plumbers who did the work were on time both times and did good jobs. I gave them a "B" for price only because I don't have anybody to compare them to,
Description of Work: This was a two-part project. We'd used O'Neill before and liked their work, so we gave them a call when a toilet plugged up. While they were doing that job, they pointed out the bowl was cracked (I already knew that). We discussed replacing it so I called the office and set up a second appointment.

We called at 6pm on a Saturday night and left my name and number with their answering service. I received a callback shortly from a dispatcher confirming their after hours pricing and if we'd like to go ahead and page the on-call plumber. They told me I should get a call shortly when he was leaving but it would be about an hour to get to our house. An hour later, we received a call from the plumber saying he needed to go to West Seattle to pick up some equipment and that it would be another hour and a half. I was a little disappointed about the expectations set on when we would receive a call back at this point. He shows up on time and starts asking a few questions. This eventually leads us to our septic system and after peeking inside he says that the septic system is the problem and there is nothing he can do. He charged us a half hour of service and left. I had another company come by on Sunday and work on the septic system. They tell me there was nothing wrong with the septic system, but the pipe from the house to the septic system had become clogged, causing the water backup issue we were having. They said the plumber should have easily been able to take care of the problem. I was disappointed that they came out and charged me to say they couldn't do anything to help me, when it turns out they could have. I ended up having to spend more money to find out they could have fixed the problem for me.

Response from O'Neill Plumbing
HI I apologize for the lack of communication you received from my staff when scheduling your project. It sounds like when [name removed] called into our emergency line last night at 7:30, our on call plumber returned her call and discussed the situation with her, then the two of them decided it did not need emergency service and it could wait until the next business day. This is when we dropped the ball. We failed to call you and or [name removed] back in the morning when promised, then you called and set an appt for 12-2:00. When we called at 12:00 to let you know we were headed to your home, you then informed us you had hired someone else to complete the job. I'm sorry for the miscommunication or lack there of between the two of you and my office staff and will use this as a training aid to better ourselves in the future. We do our best to help everyone in a timely fashion, and have received high marks for our customer service, but unfortunately did not provide that service in your situation. I hope your project is in good working order, and if you are in need of help in the future I would appreciate a second chance. Sincerely, Tim O'Neill

they were on time and did the job that needed to be done and not just the 'bare bones' to get the job done quickly.
Description of Work: I actually had O'Neill Plumbing perform several sevices over the past year including a water heater installation in December and a bathroom faucet installation in August. There were several problems that work successfully completed in August in addition to the sink faucet including correcting a shower water pressure problem, fixing a leak from tub into the basement and replacing piping at both the sink and the tub. I have had several different plumbers involved including John, Ken and Peter. All were on time, competent and professional.

Called several other plumbers on a Friday and none could come out until Monday. O'Neills was able to come out that day. They quoted their prices on the phone and with the coupon they offered on Angie's list I only paid $65 which was much less than I have paid for similar service from other providers before. The plumber was very professional and was able to fix the problem quickly. A very positive experience.
