Description of Work: The initial meeting/estimate with Jay Sr. was fast, efficient, informative. He did not waste my time or use pressure tactics as other contractors did. His bid was not the lowest but the quality of the windows was good and the installation process was more involved and superior to the other CHEAP providers. The minimal premium was very evident in the final product. Jay's crew was here as arranged, they got to work, and paid attention to detail. One issue arose and Jay was here Pronto and took care of it. It is evident that Jay is diligent in protecting his reputation. Jays Siding and Windows must be included in your bidding process.

Description of Work: I called Jay's Windows for an estimate, and he came out to my house, looked over the roof first, but offered ideas about the windows, too. He had a lot of ideas and seemed knowledgeable, and was very likeable and personable. He was the first company I spoke with for those jobs, and had others to talk with. For the second visit and estimate, we had an appt set up, and he did not show for it. I called several times to try to connect with him, and we were not able to connect. I was surprised since he had been there one time before. He sent me an e-mail later apologizing a bit for it, but did not call me back that day. He said he had lost my address and couldn't find me on the day of our appt. I had called his work to try to clarify our time, etc. so it seemed a bit odd, and unprofessional. I did not go any further with him or his company, as a result.

Description of Work: We used Jay's Siding & Windows to replace the windows in our house.

Description of Work: Tear down and build new deck. SERVICE NOT COMPLETED. The design of the deck was poor. What they described never materialized because they said part was not up to code, so they couldn't do what was written in contract. Because the deck was different proportion they originally calculated, the water and electricity had to be switched to a different area. We went without water on the deck for almost a year. The deck is in three pieces, two higher areas on both sides with lower area in the middle. The stairs that go down from the middle to the yard are all different sizes and the railings are crooked. The stairs are 6 inches, 6 inches, 5 inches and a 10 inch drop into an uneven yard. We asked before we started if the yard would be a problem and were told NO. Our hottub has been sitting in the yard for over a year now and was not put back on the porch. At one point, the contractor asked if we wanted to do the stairs over and I said we would try and work with them if he could make them the same height. That was never done, and the stairs are not up to code, so they need to be all pulled out and done over. The contractor has not returned my last call. We paid $12,000 for the deck and he says that he had to put in extra money since we couldn't do the original design. This was not our fault. He had someone working for him who screwed up the job and he was not there onsite to look at his work. I do not think he got a permit for the work, even though the Snohomish County Building Inspector told me that if the deck is over 30 inches high that he should have had a permit. We were originally supposed to have an opening to lead to the crawl space under our house. This didn't happen and he told us that if the deck was 12 inches high that was up to code for anyone to crawl under the deck to get to the crawl space. We also had a door put into my room to get to the deck. I went through the fall and winter with cold air coming in and it took him a year to finally get the door right. We also had a kitchen remodel and new floor put in. The kitchen is still not finished. They left cut marks in our wall, the floor was not put in well. The island and kitchen bar is not high enough to put chairs to sit at. The window box still needs to be finished with pieces of granite. There are parts of the flooring not done next to the island, some of the caulking is not finished and the edges between the rooms are coming up. They have been here on and off for a year. They don't show up when they are supposed to. They don't communicate with us. They don't communicate with each other. They do things wrong and then complain because it costs them extra. They are trying to branch out to other remodels besides windows. They should stick to windows anything else has been a disater. HELP HELP HELP

Description of Work: Replaced 4 windows, a large picture window, installed a garden window and replaced the sliding door containing a built in doggy door.
