This was the first time I hired a painter and I was very hesitant. I am the type of person that walks into a newly painted room and immediately sees a minor imperfection. Admittedly I am the type of customer that a painter probably hates to have. Well I am pleased to say that I couldnt be happier with Einar's work. We are doing a lot of work on a new house and I have observed an overall theme from professionals (carpet, painting, plumbers, etc) that theme is - over promise to get your business and then under deliver. I had another painting company quote me a price and tell me it would take three days to complete my project. Einar was very direct and advised he wasnt the cheapest and said there was no way our job could be completed in less than a week, even with a team. I appreciated that and he was absolutely right. Einar was the exact opposite of other professionals we have worked with - he set clear expectations, met/exceeded them and completed the work as if he was working on his own house. I rated Einar's price an "A" not because he is the cheapest (he's not), its that what he charged was inline with the quality of work he and his team demonstrated. In other words I felt like I received a fair price for the services received. I would rather pay more for a professional who takes pride in his work and meets my admittedly high standards. I also have three small children and having someone in our house for any period of time is a little uneasy. Einar was extremely patient and even let me son paint a little bit (thank you Einar). I look forward to hiring Einar's team again in the future.

He was difficult to schedule. He did not do all the prep work we discussed. He did not give me a bill for hours worked and has not followed up even though I do owe him money.

This was just a very mixed experience. The owner was very responsive, very professional and very nice. We agreed on a price and date. The person in charge of the job was also very professional and very nice when we met to discuss details. I also liked both paint crews that worked in my house. However, when the job was over, I called about paint along the edges of my kitchen cabinets and about a spot in my bathroom that was not done well. The person who came to look at it repaired the spot in the bathroom and said that the kitchen cabinets needed to be caulked and then the person in charge of the job called me to say that they don't do caulking. Well, it was not caulking, it was paint on my cabinets. I have now noticed paint on the woodwork in the rest of the kitchen and in the upstairs hallway. I finally talked to the owner who said that they would come out to fix it, but I did not have time to schedule it at that time. There was also a misunderstanding about painting the woodwork in the living room. I assumed that they would and they didn't. That may have been my being new to hiring people to take care of my house, but they were not very nice when I called about it. Although someone did come and do the trim for free, but left some paint on the wood floor. Then there were just things that happen. I didn't check and the refrigerator ended up being unplugged for 3 days. There is a small dent in my bannister. There is a mark on my new kitchen floor from the refrigerator being moved. Generally they were so nice that I really wanted to be able to give a good recommendation. From the other reviews, my experience seems to have been an anomaly.

It was alright but they change the dates of the apparent time off to work and there are still some things that I'm not happy about that I'm just living with, I would actually like to call the man and have him fix it but I just didn't, and they broke a few things that I am unhappy with.

I had contacted the provider for the "big deal". He came to my house to see the scope of the project and what was covered in the 40hs of the offer. He grumbled about the Agnie's List deal and how this was not a good deal for him. After i purchased the deal I tried setting an appointment with him, either through Angie's List or through phone and he never returned my calls or messages. I had to get a refund. Very unprofessional. If he didnt understand the what he signed up for with the BigDeal then he shouldnt have done so. It is unfortunate because his website projects seemed very professional and he responded initially very well and promptly to the visit.

The project manager, Kendall, and the painter, Alfonso, were knowledgeable, friendly and responsive. Our stairway and bathroom turned out beautifully. The flat paint on the ceiling peeled a bit around the edges in the basement -- apparently, this can happen when it's cold -- so Alfonso came out a couple of times to do touch ups. The work is now finished, and everything looks great. We bought the paint ourselves, so that is not reflected in what we paid the company. When I consider everything they did and the time that it took, the price seems fair.
Description of Work: We had our backdoor landing, basement stairway, and bathroom painted, as well as the ceilings, trim and doors from the top of the stairs down through all four rooms in the basement.

These guys did an absolutely wonderful job. We had to put the project off several times due to timing issues and they were great at working with us. They showed up on time, did a very professional job and cleaned up beautifully. I really appreciated the care taken to make sure the paint blended with the old paint and making sure the accent walls had crisp lines. Overall we couldn't be happier.

I bought the Angie's List special, "interior painter for a week" for $1399. I hoped that they would put a fresh coat of off-white paint on the ceilings and walls of my vacant rental house. I ultimately chose to get a refund because they refused to do the job I needed. They had a set formula that did not take into account the conditions of my job at all. Here is part of the message Kendall sent me when I pointed out that my job did not require "Level Three" preparation or two coats of paint: "What we provide is a standardized approach to these 40 hour deals. The level 3 work is referring to the extent of what we are held reliable in fixing, it is not relating to your case directly. As far as coats of paint are concerned, applying two coats is our standard minimum to ensure that we did the job we guaranteed." The contract they offered me describes "Level Three" preparation as: "Level 1 ? Basic: Cleaned, No Patching - Requires only basic cleanliness of surfaces to ensure the adhesion of new finishes, with less concern for the adhesion of existing paint and quality of appearance. Obvious loose paint will be removed, but no smoothing of the existing surface profile will be done. Includes washing or hand cleaning. No Warranty ? Level 2 ? Standard: Basic Patching - Requires all of Level 1 as well as the examination of existing coatings to assess their adhesion. With this level of surface preparation, good adhesion and longevity of finish are of primary concern and appearance is of secondary concern. Includes basic patching, filling, dulling of glossy surfaces, spot priming, caulking, and light sanding/abrading to address surface profile differences exceeding 1/8 inch. Excludes matching texture and taping cracks. ? Level 3 ? Superior: Detailed Patching ? Requires all of Levels 1 and 2 with added emphasis on the quality of appearance of finish painted surfaces. Includes detailed patching, filling, properly taping cracks, approximate matching of textures, and thorough sanding to address surface profile differences exceeding 1/16 inch." The only level of preparation needed for my job is level one, but they insisted on figuring time for level three preparation--time for work that would not be done. Frankly, I was stunned by how little they were going to do in five days of work. My rental house is vacant; there's no furniture to cover, and no patching or texturing of any kind is needed. The electrical covers have been removed. There's no priming, caulking, sanding, filling, or taping needed, and it has no woodwork trim to be masked off except door frames and baseboards (no window frames, etc.), so total prep for the living/dining room would be masking off the front door frame and baseboards and laying a tarp over the carpet. The walls and ceilings are done in the same paint, and the new paint is the same color as what is already there. The ceilings are standard 7.5' flat ceilings. So the upshot is, they calculated two full days to paint a modest 12x14 living room with an 8x8 dining L (only two walls since it's completely open to the living room and kitchen); two full days to paint a 14x21 rec room, and a full day to paint three bedroom ceilings (9x12, 9x13, & 10.5x12). Seriously, I don't know how it could be possible to spend that much time simply rolling paint onto flat, mostly unbroken walls and ceilings. I've painted that living/dining room in less than 8 hours myself; ditto for the rec room plus the walk-in closet behind it; I've painted all three bedrooms plus a walk-in closet--ceilings and walls--in a day and a half. Unless you used a 2" sash brush, I don't know how you could drag it out to 16 hours per room. I didn't want to do it myself this time because I'm 68 years old and only 5'2", so I need a stepladder to paint the ceilings, whereas an average height man would need only a long-handled roller. I bought Behr interior eggshell paint and primer in one (one of Consumer Reports' top ranked paints) in the same off-white that is already on the walls and ceilings of the house. Nevertheless, as quoted above, they insisted that they HAD to do two coats of paint on all surfaces in order to meet their standard. Any painter who can't do a satisfactory job with one coat when the new and old colors are the same shouldn't be in business. By the way, it cost me less to buy the paint myself than getting the contractor's discount by buying the paint through them would have cost. I have previously purchased a couple of Angie's List deals for "a Painter for a Day," and those painters (North Beach Painting and Scribner and Sons Painting) did at least as much in 8 hours--painting walls and ceilings or doors and woodwork--in my fully occupied residence with cathedral ceilings--than Bjornsson Painting offered to do per 20 hours at my rental house. Both of those companies looked carefully at what I wanted done and did exactly what I needed; the quality of the finished jobs by both companies was excellent. Bjornsson Painting Co. also scored low in professionalism and punctuality because the estimator didn't show up for our first appointment. When I bought the deal, I included a description of the job, which was to paint the interior of a rental house in Eastgate. Kendall, the project manager, emailed me asking for possible times to meet to go over the job. I sent him this email: "Hi, Kendall, This week, I can be at the house at 2:00 or later tomorrow; between 10:00 and noon on Thursday; between 10:00 and noon on Friday; between 10:00 and 4:00 on Saturday; between noon and 3:00 on Sunday. Next week, I can be there anytime on Monday, anytime until 4:00 on Tuesday, or between 10:00 and noon on Wednesday. The house is located in Eastgate at /////////////////, Bellevue, 98006. Let me know what will work for you. My phone number is //////////////////." I went to the house and waited an hour before giving up and driving back across the bridge. Apparently, Kendall never received the original Angie's List email from the company owner and didn't read my email to him well enough to know that the job was not at my home address, which is where he went at our appointment time. He simply took for granted that the job was at the address Angie's List has on file for me. It's hard to think of anything positive to say about this experience, but I will say that Kendall is a pleasant, courteous, and personable representative of the company. I feel sorry for him for having to represent a company that has imposed such a rigid formula on the deals that they offer through Angie's List. Nowhere on the description of the deal did I see any of the limits that were imposed on the job, or I would not have bought it in the first place. I appreciate the fact that Kendall offered me a refund and the fact that Angie's List guarantees a refund within the first 30 days if the deal doesn't work out.

Bjornsson & Co Painting came out to provide us a quote. Their quote was higher than every other quote we had. It almost appears as though it is higher by the amount of the coupon. For example: At Bjornsson & Co, we pay $1399 for the coupon which gets us a set amount of hours and labor. Their quote was for about 20-30 more hours of labor than each other company we were quoted by. So each other company's quote is the same price as Bjornsson without the coupon. With the coupon we end up paying more and needing to purchase additional hours. To me it looks as though they inflate the hours needed to make up for the coupon's price. Not a good value at all.

I liked the people who actually did the work, but I did not like the contractor. I did not like the conversation and the way he reacts. The workers were excellent and exceptional. Any company who employ people like that are really fortunate. They did not waste any moment of time. They were so meticulous. I have all the appreciation for the workers and not the contractor.

Job estimator E Bjornsson showed up on time. Gave a clear explanation of the estimate, timeline, etc. Answered a question I emailed him quickly. Submitted a clear and easily understandable bid. The paint crew, lead by Bianca, arrived punctually all days, and worked quickly. They painted the ceilings of several rooms, the kitchen, a bathroom, the TV room and the office in three days. They took great care to do a neat and professional job. The house looks very nice.

Spoke with a rep at first contact and was able to schedule a consultation for the following week to get an estimate on painting three bedrooms and a laundry room. However the appointment came and went no one showed up, no one called. I called the next day to see what had happened and to try to reschedule but my voicemail message went unanswered. Maybe it's that Issaquah is too far away from NW 56th St in Seattle to be worth it, maybe it's that we were only looking at a doing a couple of small rooms, but either way I'm disappointed given the other rave reviews. For what it's worth, the person I spoke with - when I was able to speak to someone - was really nice. Went with a different service provider.

We just purchased a house and needed several rooms painted. An offer from Bjornsson Painting came through for 40 hours of painting and we tooke it. The owner, Einar, came to our home to size the project. He was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of guidance. Once we scoped out the work we arranged for a crew to begin painting. The only thing we need to provide was the paint, which Einar was more than willing to assist with purchasing if we hadn't already. There was some miscommunication between Einar and myself that caused us to start a week later than expected. However, the team that came out were wonderful. They were courteous, professional, and communicative. They prepped everything, painted and cleaned up so quickly. We will definitely contact them again when we are ready to finish the other rooms.

Initial contract was to paint our (old) basement walls. They did a really good job at that (on time, on price, quality work), so we then asked them to paint the entire exterior of our house. Our exterior surface was in bad shape and needed extensive preparatory work - which they did. They have just finished the exterior painting and again they were on time, on price, high quality work. In addition, the painting crew was excellent: pleasant (it was very hot and humid during the period they were working), hard working, responsible and, most importantly, they seemed very interested in doing a job that we would be satisfied with. Which they did - and we are. Lots of contact and feedback with the CEO of the company, and we felt that we had jointly navigated a very complex operation. We would recommend them to friends and neighbors.

He promptly came to my home and advised me how much could be painted in the 40 hrs. I purchased. His visit was professional and helpful. The date set for the work had to be changed by two days due to weather problems at a prior job site. I was given adequate notice of the change. I was told it would take 2 1/2 days. The new start time meant the work started on a Thursday so I asked if that meant they would complete the work on Saturday, or if it would have to be completed on Monday. I was told he would staff the job so that it was completed on Friday. Two painters arrived on time at 8 a.m each morning and left around 4:30. When it appeared Thursday that the work would be difficult to complete on Friday, I was asked if it would be inconvenient to complete it on Monday. I had already scheduled a carpet cleaner and the house was basically unusable except for the bath and one bedroom. I told him it would be inconvenient and reminded him that he had said he would staff it so that it was completed Friday. The work was completed on Friday. He explained it was not pristine as they were rushed. I didn't feel the rushing was my fault as he changed the date and apparently understaffed. The painters missed two small areas, but arrived promptly the following Monday and completed the work in 30 minutes. I would rate the painting an A as well as most of the fill work. However, larger holes were not expertly filled; for instance a hole where the door knob had been bumping the wall. That fill is very obvious. Before the painting I had a two inch hole repaired where there had originally been a wall phone. This was done by a person with a good amount of experience and the repair is not visible. Therefore I would rate some of the fill work a C+. The furniture and rugs were well protected. I only have one small visible spot on the rug. The painters were at all times professional. My B rating for Quality was because of some of the fill work and I would have preferred to give this a B+ rating, but it was not available for use. My home is a 1969 split level and I believe had more fill work needed than newer homes. I would recommend this firm.

Owner looked at our small house, 2 br, living, dining, kitchen, bath and laundry and bid $4500,we checked with a recommended painter from a friend, their bid, $1850. If it was close we would not have cancelled. I believe any contractor can charge what he wants, but 1299 was to be a value of over $2200. We would have owed 4500 less 1299, which we paid you, so over 2500 difference was a big stumbling block., please refund to our card.
