I checked other repairers too, but they were too far out or didn't return my calls and one person never got back to me. It was a holiday season and it was snowing and one person was several weeks out and these people were maybe a week out. They fixed it after Christmas. I liked him. He knew the job well and brought the part with him.

When Tom was at the house doing the painting which I originally contracted with him for (and wrote about on Angie's List), I made an off-hand comment about my incredibly messy closets and storage area. Tom just mentioned in passing that he also helps folks organize these types of things. When I realized he was serious, I showed him closets jammed with papers, books, boxes of photographs, and old clothes. I was initially embarrassed but he seemed unfazed. He told me that as long as I was present to tell him what "stayed" and what "went" that he would be happy to box things up, organize the things I couldn't part with, and cart away all the things that I would probably never use or look at again. I cannot tell you how helpful it was to have Tom's help in this project. I have been carrying around much of this from previous houses, determined to "one day" go through it all. That day arrived when I felt comfortable in asking for Tom's assistance. Now I have closets and a storage area whose doors I sometimes open just to see how lovely and orderly they look. This may sound like a dramatic overstatement, but I really do feel like I have my life back under my control.

A year ago, water damage caused the paint around our baseboards to peel and look unsightly. It wasn't a big job so I didn't want to call in a major Seattle painting company. Through a friend I found Tom, who said that as long as the job was a minimum of 2 hours he was happy to take it on. Tom came with great references and so I decided to give him a try. Once we got into the job, I realized that I had some greater challenges. I had forgotten that the paint was a custom color and that I no longer had extra paint remaining. Tom told me not to worry. He scraped off enough of the wall paint to bring to the paint store, got it matched perfectly and had the repair done beautifully that same afternoon. He did such a great job and was so pleasant to work with that I had him touch up some other areas of the house which I'd been trying to ignore for years. Tom is not only an extremely good painter, he is the nicest of fellows and a great problem solver.

All trips went fine. One time I forgot to pick up a bag from the luggage claim and did not notice it until we were on the way home. Tom promptly turned around, I got the bag and he did not even suggest an additional charge....but we added to the fair anyway. Tom's rates were $50 each way.
