.Went to Honda dealer twice after having the car stop moving or disengaging but since "no codes were loaded" they were clueless. A friend had his Saturn transmission worked on so I asked where he went and he pointed me to this business. This shop is 200 feet north of the Honda dealer in Burien. I called about getting in for a review of the problem and he said to just come on in and told me he already had a good idea what the problem was. Went to the business and he drove it but no symptoms showed but he told me this model and year of transmission was used in Acura's and Hondas and they typically break sometime after 100,000 miles. He gave the estimate of $3500 and I gulped and said go ahead. He told me it would take 2 weeks as he had scheduled work. He called me about 7-10 days later and asked if I could put down a deposit on the job. I went in and he took me back into the shop and showed me the torn-apart transmission. Showed me the stripped gears and the parts that were still ok so I could see the differences. The problem he thought was the issue was part of the problem but there were more stripped gears than he expected. Only the gears that were failed were replaced and the others were reinstalled. Picked the car up about a week later and drove it around in the manner I was told to. We had few drops of fluid on driveway to he told me to bring it back ASAP. They replaced a crush seal that failed - they stopped the work they had and worked my issue right then and drove it. They apologized for the failed seal and told me to come back after 500 miles. This guy and his business have been around for decades and I would go back in a minute if I needed to. I just wish they did more automotive repairs as I would go here for them. After I wrote something about my experience on Facebook and I had two other friends talk about this business and their positive experiences. The only reason I did not rate price as an A was that it is an expensive job.

Gary is amazing; he is super friendly and makes you feel instantly at ease. This guy is a motorhead who knows and loves cars, and his mechanics are pros. This place isn't the cleanest I've ever been to, but these people know their craft. They are honest and instill confidence. They do more than transmissions too. First visit, I thought I had transmission problems; a 20 minute test drive later and was told I just needed plugs and wires - what a relief. I left the truck in the morning and it was ready as promised at the end of the day. I used to sell auto parts and know my way around a vehicle and how much things cost. I don't remember the cost exactly, but remember it being reasonable and thinking I finally found a place I can take my car and not have to worry about getting duped or receiving poor quality work. That first experience sold me on this place. My most recent trip had them diagnosing a check engine light. Again I left the car. Diagnostics indicated I had a bad fuel cap - a 15 dollar part (you can get them even cheaper at discount parts stores). I think the diagnostic fee was around $40. I was out the door for around $50. They could have told me anything and done nothing, but that's not how this place operates; and because they don't I would unreservedly recommend this place.
Description of Work: I had a check engine light on my Ford Truck. I had been to Accutran previously on a recommendation from another service provider in Sodo for a different issue. I was impressed on my first visit and equally my second time in. Doesn't sound glamorous, but they performed the diagnostics and recommended the repair. I dropped it in the morning, had a call from Gary around lunch, and picked it up after work.

Outstanding. Gary Tischer, his family, and service people were courteous, professional, and prompt. They checked out my transmission as soon as I arrived, then squeezed me in immediately. They identified the problem that had been plaguing my car for over a year: a leaky pan gasket. Not just any pan gasket, but a specific one for my transmission. The problem with the run-of-the mill pan gasket is that it allows leaking due to the unusual design of my transmission pan. That's why all the former changes of the pan gasket resulted in more leaks. Another shop suggested a rebuild based on slippage I didn't feel. Gary verified my gut on this: nothing wrong in the test drive and nothing fishy when they dropped the pan. Accutran strikes me as remarkably trustworthy. While I was there, someone wanted to replace their transmission even though the problem could not be recreated; Gary wanted to ensure the transmission was the problem before allowing money to be spent. Accutran is HIGHLY recommended.
Description of Work: Checked transmission fluid leak; checked for slippage; performed transmission service (new filter & pan gasket).
