While he was just a little late, he did call earlier to let us know he was running a bit late. This was appreciated. He checked our old furnace carefully, inspecting all different components, including the wiring. He also instructed my husband on locating and washing all the air filters. Given that the furnace is so old, I felt fairly certain that we would be advised by anyone in the business to purchase a new furnace, and would be quoted a very high price. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that he indicated that it is still going strong (at least presently), and that everything seemed to be okay. There were no efforts made toward trying to either sell us something or to steer us to some colleague to purchase something. I had also expected that there might be some extra fees or taxes charged, and so was prepared for that. But it turned out that the coupon I had purchased from Angie's List was all he needed, and there were no additional fees/charges. I was very pleased with the services received, and would call them again.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They were fine. They suggested a lot of improvements which were probably needed. They came back and did it. The cost came out quite high with the improvements. I'm never quite sure the improvements needed to be done but they were not pushy about it. They said if we couldn't do it, then we were going to have trouble. They showed up on time.

The service worked out fine. They pointed out that I had one filter inserted incorrectly.

They came out on time, but I had to email several times to schedule the service date after purchasing the deal. I told them during scheduling that I had an electronic air cleaner that required a specific filter, but when the serviceman arrived, he didn't know anything about that or have the correct filter. He was able to use the one I had on hand. I don't know what he would have done if I hadn't ordered an extra one earlier in the year. I might hire this service for a basic job since the price was good, but probably not for anything more complicated than a standard furnace.

The young man came on time, did the work we expected, gave a good clear report of it all and so forth. Inexpensive insurance that our furnace was in good working order.

He was friendly and professional and showed me some problem areas to be aware of. It is an older furnace.

He was prompt went right to work.After the tune up he explained i would need a new furnace within a year. He was did not pressure me to replace right away. He sent me a bid with several choices of furnaces. I would consider the co. for a new furnace.

I purchased a big deal coupon for this company. The biggest frustration with them was getting an appointment. It seemed to be when we signed up it was stated it would be within a week or a few days but we eventually had to call them and it took us about a month or so to get an appointment. That was a little frustrating. But when they came the person was exactly on time and he was very good and he went over the things on the furnace with me and answered all the questions I had on it. I was very happy with the service itself. It took two weeks to get through to them on the phone between their answering service and their limited hours and them not calling us back. And then when we finally did get through to them we had to go through three different people to get to the person who was handling the Angie's List appointments. And then we had to wait a month for the appointment.

The service was great. We have used them more times. They came out & we had them look at the second water heater, but we had talked about the price before. They didn't charge anything that we didn't know was coming. They were on time and they did great. They were pretty honest about the things what we need.

My only problem with the company was their ad on Angies List said they have "rapid response" and will respond to my request within 48 hrs. Well they did respond to my request within 48hrs but just with an email saying to call them to organize a service! How stupid! I could have just called them in the first place if I knew that would be the response. So I called and called and eventually got someone and the first available date was in about 6 weeks! Hardly rapid response. So their technical service was very good but I would think twice about using them anything urgent such as a furnace replacement since their response is awful and the complete opposite to their promise.

We purchased a furnace inspection/maintenance deal. Our furnace was not running badly but we thought that after several years it should be inspected and perhaps tuned. The service man poked around and said it looked like the motor mount may be loose. He then proceded to apply force to the mount screws with a long handled screw driver. After this service, the furnace made a new faint vibration that wasn't present before and which grew louder over the course of the past year. We finally called a different company to examine our furnace and found that the mounting screws had been striped. Universal's service man apparently damaged our furnace rather than providing any helpful service.

It was very good. The tech was good, he did everything, gave me a lot of information and he talked about that they do service for water heaters as well. He was on time, neat and tidy. He did a good job.

After paying for this service approximately Sept 2013, they were supposed to call and schedule an appt within 48 hours. I emailed them and requested a refund after several weeks and no call. They responded without giving a refund and eventually we made an apt for 1/21/2014. They cancelled the appt and we have not been contacted by them since. I am requesting a full refund and will choose not to use this company again in the future. I realize that more weight is given for people who actually got service, but since they don't bother with customer service, they can weigh it any way they like. Not impressed and I want a full refund

I spoke with the provider and we determined that there was not an available appointment time within our desired time frame.

It went well and they are okay. I would not use them again in the future.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I had to wait forever; it was like months. It was kind of annoying but they did do it. It was kind of frustrating having to wait so long. It was a really good deal except for having to wait so long. Once the appointment was scheduled, they did come out when they were supposed to. It was pretty unprofessional to advertise something that they couldn't deliver on a timely basis. I would only use them again if they could deliver in a timely basis.

I asked Heather for a quote to replace an electric hot water heater at a rental property. She flatly refused to discuss pricing over the phone, sounding annoyed that I'd even ask such a thing, and instead insisted on an in person meeting at the property. I would have had to schedule a time with the tenant, drive 40 minutes each way just to get a quote, then do the same to have the work performed.

Excellent service and well worth the price. We just moved into the house recently, so this was a great way to learn about the age and operation of this 20 year old furnace. The technician was polite, friendly, and he provided a wealth of knowledge. I would use the service again and strongly recommend them to others.

Right now its a C, but the deal needs to be more care, as we are dealing with a residential furnace. If the company does not want to move forward we do request a full refund, and we will go with another company to help us out. We do need to know immediately as another family will move into the home soon.

They really listened when I explained the kind of unit I (and others in my building) have - several other contractors proposed replacing this unit with a different kind that would have required extensive re-construction of the wall where it would be installed, and considerably more cost. Although Universal provided the lowest estimate we went with another contractor who took their time, and found a heat pump with almost the identical dimensions as the old one.

They billed me for a furnace tune up, and in the past I have had tune ups that have only taken about an hour to complete. When the guy came out I asked how long he thought it would take to complete the tune up and he said only 20 minutes. When he opened the access door to the heat exchanger and said that the heat exchanger is cracked. He said that when this occurs it is very dangerous because is leaks carbon monoxide into the home and it could cause death. I explained that the crack may have been there for some time and that nothing bad has happened yet. I had another company come out for a second opinion and he gave me the same explanation that this was an industry wide issue and they could not turn the furnace on again legally until the crack is repaired. I did some research online and discovered that we had no signs of carbon monoxide in our home. I found an article that said that a crack in the heat exchanger would not allow carbon monoxide into the house. I also went to the fire department and they advised me to buy a brand new carbon monoxide detector which I did and the monitor has never gone off. At no time did he offer to pull out his carbon monoxide meter and read the levels in the air.

It just took a long time to get the appointment.

Can't say much except the house is still warm, maybe just a little warmer.

Price very reasonable. Service was prompt. Very knowledgeable.
