I went to Home Depot. I went online to make an appointment and then went into the store. I made an appointment with a designer person. I have a rental property so I was trying to decide how to go about, I wanted to add some cabinets and add a little breakfast bar area in this kitchen. Because it is a rental I didn't want expensive cabinets and I didn't want expensive countertops either but they were running a sale so I thought well, I will go in there and look at the solid surface stuff. The woman that started the design brought in some measurements that I had given them when I talked to the people on the phone. They said they could give me an idea of what the cabinetry might cost and give me some ideas of what type of cabinets to get and so the woman that was in there took the information and for some reason or another told me that I needed to have 22" cabinets which I didn't, 24" would have been fine. She said that the only cabinets that I could get was the one because I was going with the 22". I don't know why we ended up with that discussion but we somehow ended up that way. I was walking around kind of looking for, at the different things they have there and saw that they had laminate for a reasonable price. It was a lot less than the solid surface stuff and that interested me. I also explained to her and showed her pictures and told her that this was a rental property and I don't want to put real expensive things in there but I would like to make it a little more conforming to the use that people have now days. I would like to have a breakfast bar and I think that I can do that fairly inexpensively and the cabinets I had, depending on the price I would consider replacing some of the other ones or maybe I would do a door replacement and a refinish kit or something like that. I was just trying to figure out how I wanted to approach this and make it look nice and not have it cost a lot of money. She apparently had a tragic problem with family so she was gone. When I called back to try and track her down they informed me that she had had this tragedy in her family and they gave me this other person to work with. He seemed to be friendly enough. I went in to meet him. I was unfortunately late but he seemed to be busy anyway. He convinced me that I needed to have a measure done and he said that I wanted to do a wall cut out and he seemed to be, yes, yes, they could handle all of that. They could get somebody to come in and cut out the little area that I wanted cut out of the wall and that that project they would be able to handle the whole project. So just explaining it to the fellow that I wanted to have the cabinet measure. So I paid my $49 for the cabinet measure. Bear in mind I have not gotten a price on anything which was my intention, give me some estimate at what I am looking at based on cabinetry for a cabinet install and what all you would be able to do. I was informed by Home Depot and their designer, 2 different designers, oh yes, we have people who can work your whole project, that includes cutting out the wall and moving the electrical sockets up to counter height. I showed them all of this with a picture. So, I paid for the measure, because I was told that this guy was handling the whole project and he would have people to do that. I met him up there, he was a very nice fellow. He drove 2 hours to get to my appointment because they didn't get anybody local. They went out of the area, out of the, 2 counties out. This guy drove 2 hours to get to my property because he does the installs for these stock cabinets that you can buy at the store but you can also order them and get a more customized design. For the install price was a good price, it was $79 for the install of the cabinet. I only want 6 cabinets, it worked really well for me, it all fell within the budget. They had a cabinet door and color that I thought I could do a nice match with and on, and on, and on. So, I was really excited to get this done. He gets up there to do this thing and he says, well, I came from Shelton, which is a 2 hour drive and I go wow that's an awfully long way to do such a small project. He said he thought I was in a different location. He didn't realize that my location for this property was as far out as it was and he didn't understand why they had sent him to that location either. I said I didn't set anything up it was the store that did it. So, they got somebody who was 2 counties away for a very small job, under $5000. He wasn't happy about that and then he informed me, because it was such a long distance he didn't know anybody to contract to do the electrical work that needed to be done or cut the wall out. He said, well, I can do the install of the cabinets but I don't know anybody in this area that could contract with the project to do the other stuff which was to make the breakfast bar. I was not going to settle for just having the cabinets done, what's the point? The whole point was to provide the extra cabinetry and then to also have a breakfast nook or a little breakfast bar area for that kitchen. I would replace the countertop on both sections of counter whether I replaced the cabinets or not. I don't know if he did the laminate install or not, I don't think he did, but he was vague about if he could coordinate any of it. He said he he could do the install of the cabinets and that he would do the measure for the cabinets. I said, I was told that you would basically do the whole project or basically help me with the whole project. He said, no, I can't because I don't know anybody up in this area to do that. He said everybody that I know doesn't want to travel up this far to do a small project. So, I said I was not going to do any of this because I am not going to settle for something other than what I have contracted to do and so he left and I left. He said he he was going over to the local store, I went to the store that was by my house. He was going to stop by the store in the location that was where my rental was, presumably I guess to inform them what was going on in case I decided to go up there and switch stores, I don't know. The next thing I know, I am at home and I am rather annoyed that they sent this fellow up there so I called the store. The person that scheduled all of this stuff for me and told me that, the designer was not in. He was gone for 2 more days or something. I said well let me talk to the store manager so I talked to the store manager and he said we will refund your money and we'll get you set up for another measurement. I get an email, so I have this in writing, from another designer that works there who said we'll get ahold of this construction company and we'll have them contact you to do a bid because they would be able to handle the construction, the cut out in the wall that I want done and whatnot. I've never heard from them. I've called them back a couple of days later and I said, well, I have received a phone call from a company that is a cabinet refinishing company but that's not what I asked for and that's not what your email said. Your email said I was going to receive a call from this construction company. Oh yes, that's fine. I've never heard from them. I've never talked to the construction company. I talked to the refinishing company and explained to them what I wanted because apparently home depot can't get anything straight. Everything they tell me is not quite right and I'm sorry that he has tried contacting me but that is not what I requested and I have an email that says a construction company would be contacting me that I've never heard from. I've never heard back from a follow up from anybody to see if they have contacted me or how I was coming along with this. I have been left with no where to go. They did refund my money. I got a refund. Apparently, what they did was refund the measure that I paid for and everything else is just confused. I never head from them. I have it in writing that they are going to send me this referral from this construction company and I have never heard from them. I wanted to do the laminate, which truthfully, even if I did nothing but went in and bought laminate from them with an install that should have been sufficient enough, I would think, to get their attention to make a sale, but apparently it's not. They are not interested in calling me back to see. I kind of got the impression from everyone that basically they are just waiting for a $20,000 job to go in and if they can't jack the work effort up to $20,000 or $30,000 then they will be talking to me but otherwise they would just as soon send me down the road or I can go over to the area and figure it all out for myself. I don't know if they work on commission. I've been through 3 different designers and I don't want to do business with them. They are friendly enough, they are just not interested in following up with a small project.

You have to track somebody down to help you. I knew exactly what I wanted but it wasn't there so I had to ask someone to see if they have one in their inventory somewhere. I chose them because they are closer. When I didn't have the product that I was looking for, they were able to help me pretty quickly. They can call other stores. They can check the inventory online of the other stores and then call them about the product I'm looking for.

I think he did a very good job. It took him a long time because there were all kinds of things he had to fix. We had an under the counter water heater and who had installed it the first time didn't do it safely, so he had to bring it back to code. He put in a safety valve, which required some plumbing and carpentry type stuff.

It took over an hour to do all the paper work. I came back the next day and it took almost two hours to get the product, then the guy lost my receipt and he pretty much told me "too bad." He didn't seem to care that my personal information was just lying around.

They did a great job and we were happy with their work. They worked very quickly and had it up in one day. I wasn't too happy about their cleanup they left a lot of stuff out.

THEY WERE ON TIME, INSTALLED PRODUCT, CLEANED UP... FOLLOWED UP 2 TIMES W/ CALLS TO CHECK ON JOB.

THEY HELPED ME LOCATE THE FAN I WANTED BUT SEEMED TOO BUSY TO HELP ME. THEY HAD A GOOD SELECTION I THOUGHT. THEY WERE ALL VERY FRIENDLY, AND TOLD ME HOW TO INSTALL IT.

THE EXPERIENCE WITH HOME DEPOT WAS GREAT. THEY HELPED US ALOT. WE DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HOT WATER HEATERS. WE WILL USE THEM AGAIN IF WE NEED TO MAKE A PURCHASE LIKE THAT.

I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THE WINDOW TREATMENTS I HAVE PURCHASED FROM THE HOME DEPOT STORE. THEY ARE ALWAYS VERY THOROUGH WITH THEIR HELP AND ADVICE.
