Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing

I hired Jim Dandy plumbing based on excellent reviews here. Sure enough, these folks are really really good at what they do. Their dispatch is attentive, helpful and very professional. Their plumber Ryan showed up on time, actually ahead of me. Ryan did an excellent job repairing my leaky water main shut off valve inside the garage. It was not an easy repair so it took him 2.5 hours. The reason for the 4 star instead of 5? I didnt realize they charge $158.00 an hour! I mean I am an engineer by trade with 27 years of experience and I dont make anywhere close to that. I own a BMW and BMW dealer charges me less than $150.00 t to repair my BMW M6. Yes, my fault for not asking first what their labor rate is but who would think plumbers now charge $158.00 an hour? So I called them the next day. I asked them to double check to ensure there was no error on their bill to me as it appears I was charged a little high and they said No errors Sir, yes our labor rate is $158.00 / hour...... The plumber worked on my main water shut off valve for 2.5 hours, 15 minutes on my leaky toilet shut off valve for a total of 2.75 hours. Total price including parts for less than 3 hours of work was $598.00. Whew..... I thought that was way expensive.

I never got the estimate. I called off and on for three weeks. I was told they had the estimate. . I never received the estmate. I called them about six weeks later and asked for an estimate to put a bathroom in the basement. I told the person what happened last time. He said he would email me and also send a letter. I never received the bid. I had other plumbing to do later but I won't call Jim Dandy. They are unprofessional and totally unreliable.

The big sewer pipe was backing up due to roots in the line. The company sent someone out less than hour after I called. Shawn was professional, courteous, and honest. He did a good job and didn't try to sell me on expensive services I didn't want. I am much happier with Jim Dandy and its prices and service than I have been in the past with better known companies like RotoRooter.

Job took twice as long as estimated; which ended up being $1000 rather than the $500 quoted. This was very stressful and disappointing. Rates are a bit on the high end. Left a huge mess for me to clean up. Debris and dust everywhere. Sloppy caulk job in one of the bathrooms. Leak in toilet required second contractor to come back the next day.

I couldn't be happier about my experience with this company. I needed a water line installed from my kitchen sink to my fridge, which needed to be installed through the ceiling of the room below the kitchen. They promptly got someone out to do an estimate, he cut me a deal on the rate, and I decided to go with them. The day the work was actually done the plumber arrived on time and got the job knocked out much faster than estimated. He was able to do the job with much less daage done to the ceiling than anticipated. I also had him look at a leaky toilet while he was there, and decided to have him come back to replace the toilet for me since I did not feel like dealing with it. I have nothing but positives to say about Jim Dandy. They were prompt, professional, did great work, and came in a couple hundred dollars below the quoted estimate. They will be my plumber for as long as I live in their service area.

I called several places for estimates based on Angie's List reviews. Jim Dandy was the best price. I forgot to use my Angie's List coupon, or the price would have been $25 less. They also had Saturday hours, but it ended up being more convenient for me to have them come early the next morning (Friday). Our issue wasn't an emergency, but they were great about scheduling the work right away. Jon was scheduled to arrive between 8am and 9am. He got there at 8:50 and went right to work. He did the rooter service first, but that didn't solve the issue of the slow flushing toilets so he checked them out and augared and cleared the jets in the toilets. They run better, but not perfectly. One of the toilets is maybe 30 years old and he pointed out that it may just need to be replaced, which is totally reasonable and I appreciate that he didn't spend a lot of time trying to fix something that was beyond what he could do that day. He recommended replacing the flapper on the other, but left me the option of doing that on my own to save money. I did so and it is running much better now. He also ran a snake in my bathroom sink that had gotten very backed up and was barely draning and pulled a whole bunch of hair out. He showed me how to clean the trap out by myself more often to prevent this issue. Jon was very professional and courteous. I appreciate his respect for my time and he got a lot done without costing me a ton of money. I would absolutely use Jim Dandy again.

They were easy to reach and came fairly quick. I had a leak in an outdoor faucet that the plumber replaced. He said there was a broken pipe in the crawl space that he replaced as well. I asked him to push the faucet farther out from the house which he did. He put a freeze resistant little blanket on the pipe outside. I did not put a judgement in the price spot above because I never know what is appropriate; plumbing prices always seem so high. I also cannot judge the quality of the work because I am not able to get under the house and look at what he did. It all seems fine so far and based on this experience I would definitely use Jim Dandy in the future.

I called Jim Dandy and they were able to have someone come out within a couple of hours. The gentleman that showed up was extremely nice and knowledgeable. He was very respectful and took his shoes off when coming into our house and cleaned up great when he was done. Overall the job took about 1h 45m. When we bought our house we had more than our fair share of plumbing issues and used a couple different places. I wish I had been an Angie's List member back then and saw Jim Dandy plumbing instead. I would highly recommend them and would use them again.

I checked Angie's List and actually arranged for another contractor to come out on Sunday. After thinking about it for a while, I decided to try and find another contractor who might be able to come out sooner. I called Jim Dandy and they had Ryan out there within 2 hours. The PRV in our house was a little odd and Ryan had to drive up to Everett and pick one up. Aside from that, he had the new one installed in an hour or so. He was very professional through and through. Nice young man who obviously knew what he was doing. I would recommend Jim Dandy Plumbing without reservation.

I was very pleased with this service. I was very impressed that they agreed to a special request. I had to have them move me to the front of the wait list because I had scheduling issues and they obliged.

I got two estimates. Jim Dandy's estimate was $600 cheaper than other estimate. He came and did the work quickly and was $100 cheaper than I was expected. Respectful of the house and everything has been smooth. Would definitely use again.

On Monday morning I discovered a leakage under the kitchen sink. I immediately looked for a plumber on Angie's List and picked Jim Dandy to come and give us an estimate. They came to our house in two to three hours; they replaced the broken pipe and also fixed the drianage problems we had in two of our bathrooms. These problems were not manage, but they were handled expeditiously.

Project is still in progress, but I give high review score.The David was very knowledgeable and informative. He recommend me to buy the oven before he moves the pipeline to avoid doing it again. Really like his advise.

The initial install went fine, the install guys are friendly and didn't leave a mess. However, problems begin after they left. 1) They didn't design a very smart system when they repiped. In our case, there were two particular problems. First, they ran an uninsulated pipe out of our heated basement and then under an uninsulated portion of the house to service an exterior hose bib - essentially a plumbing disaster in waiting. The did not insulate the pipe, they didn't install a shut off and best of all, they didn't tell how they had done it so I didn't find out until the pipe burst. Second, you cannot turn on a faucet while someone's taking a shower or you blast them with cold water. A well designed shouldn't have the problem... Installing flexible pipe is super easy, I wasn't paying them to drill holes and run tubes, I was paying them for experience & the expectation that they would do a better job than I could. 2) I called them out to fix the burst pipe under the uninsulated portion of the house. I contended the work should have been completed under warranty since they installed it in an uninsulated area and didn't insulate the pipe or install a shut off inside the basement, they disagreed and charged me $150 bucks. 3) During the same visit, I had them fix a different hose bibs that had a stuck plunger. They agreed this would be covered under warranty since it was a defective part, so they fixed it. I didn't ask how and they didn't tell me... I assumed they replaced the part. A few months later, the part was suck again and I called and asked them to fix it. They quoted me $150 or something and I told them they should do it for free since they apparently didn't do a very good job with the last repair attempt. They disagreed, and told me that if the plumber had installed a new hose bib when he was out to fix it the first time, it would have been covered, but since he just unstuck the plunger, I was out of luck since my original warranty had expired. Use these guys at your own risk... they do half way decent work, they're not cheap and their customer service is crap.

My husband handled it all since I was at work. The plumber from Jim Dandy was right on time and it didn't take him too long to clean the drains. He was informative and advised why the drains clogged up so we could keep an eye on future issues. We would use them again!

They did a good job, they were quick and very professional. They were very kind and I liked them a lot, I would highly recommend them. I was very satisfied.

I think Angies List should add Plus Ratings to this site, Because this should be an A+ I can not say enough about this company, The Service I got was nothing less than Fantastic, I was so Impressed with what was done that I am Planning an entire Repipe of my Home, and I want these guys to do it, and speciffically, Ryan. the Job he did was perfect. I know a bit about plumbing myself, and he was very knowledgeable in this trade. If I were his boss, I would give hime a raise. Initially there was a misunderstanding as to what needed to be done, but that was remedied and Jim Dandy came throught with Flying colors. I will be hiring these guys for any plumbing I have from now on.

They did a fantastic job. I have used them before for other services in the past, like plumbing. I am using them again in the future.

The guy from Jim Dandy was very prompt, courteous and fair. He saved us a lot of money, as we thought for sure the sewer would need to be dug up in the yard. Instead, he fixed it all working from inside the house. We are very pleased.

Great! I was happy with the prior work David has done for us and this time was just as happy with the results. He's effiecient and very courteous. Plus the area he works in always looks cleaner than when he arrived.

I had my regular plumber out and he said he wasn't able to unplug it as he didn't have a long enough rooter - so he suggested me calling Jim Dandy. The sent out a drain guy not a plumber - he said my plumbing was put in backwards (not true) Then they sent a real plumber - he went downstairs and ripped a hole in my room ceiling to get to the plumbing saying he found the problem - he couldn't fix it either - finally a 3RD plumber came out the next day and fixed it in 10 minutes. So inexperienced first two men and a huge hole in my ceiling that they didn't repair and first a charge of over $900.00 - then office manager took off the first guy that I had told to leave and charged me $800.00 and said he's pay any amount of money to have a kitchen drain fixed! He said they would sue me if I objected and didn't pay. Never use them for small drain work!!

They were on time, they cleared the drain quickly and their price was very reasonable. I would call them again.

I used him years ago. He didn’t charge me because he couldn’t fix it. I contacted the Insta-hot people and they referred me to somebody who found out the problem was totally different. The responsiveness was good. He showed up on time. He was very professional. I probably would not use him in future.
