The service turned out great. The experience was positive. They came out on time, they did the work in a timely fashion, they did a good job, they cleaned up, they were very courteous while they were here, and they were very gentle with my kitty. I didn't want her to go outside and they worked around that. One guy had a very good sense of humor, and once we worked out the communication problem the did it. We didn't understand communicating through Angie's List, and that was the problem. The cost was competitive. Their bid was right there in the middle. They explained everything that they did, and they showed me what they did. My husband was gone that afternoon, and I was here just with my caretaker. I would hire them again.

I can't say enough good things about Switch Electric and especially Bryan, who spent 8 hours working diligently through all the issues with our electrical issues. We had bought a house several months ago - and the electrical work was suspect and the breaker panel was not labelled. I communicated with Tyler by email before the job - and got assurance that they could do the various jobs I had specified in their $399 Big Deal for 8 hours of electrician work. Bryan was very professional and very knowledgeable - and had to trace down many wires and circuits that had been installed in a non-standard and undocumented way during a prior remodel. After Bryan left the house I had a couple other intermittent problems and he came back a few days later and spent another hour identifying the loose wires in the breaker panel which corrected the problem - for no additional charge. I give Switch Electric and Bryan 5 stars in terms of the value and quality of work. Extremely professional up and down the organization.,
Description of Work: identified and labelled entire breaker panel; installed fluorescent lights in garage; troubleshot and resolved several strange intermittent lights and outlets; disconnected wall heater; provided access to outlet between two cabinets; fixed two outside lights; provided assurance that panel and wiring were safe;

The whole experience was excellent. Bryan arrived right on time, wore booties when he came in the house and worked very hard thoughout the day to finish all the tasks. I was especially appreciative of his care in cutting much of the opening in the new hardwood floors by hand. When I commented that it certainly looked like a lot of work, he said he preferred doing it his way because it was safer and more protective of the floors. He seemed to have good working knowledge and experience with all the elecrical issues presented. I definitely will use this company again and highly recommend them. I used a full-day service coupon from Angie's list and then there was an extra charge for some special conduit and wiring needed to complete some of the work. It was a great deal and I'm happy I called them.
Description of Work: Work performed: Installed a floor outlet in 3/4" hardwood floor, correctly repositioned and installed an outdoor light, ran new wire through the wall and installed a 30Amp outlet for a dryer, ran new wire through a dropped ceiling and installed an outdoor sensor light, checked and adjusted a light that had not been working.

This was a very good experience. Our upstairs bathroom fan had died and we had lived without one for a while because we thought we might replace it ourselves, you know how that goes. Weeks later, an Angie's List Big Deal came up to replace a bathroom fan at a very good price and we realized this was our opportunity to finally get it done. Switch Electric sent someone out to take a look, he went out to get the fan and within 15 minutes our fan was replaced. Coincidentally (if you're not superstitious), our downstairs bathroom fan spontaneously stopped working, and we called Switch Electric out for a repeat performance. The second installation went as well as the first, although we had a different installer. No problems to report.

I was satisfied with the rewiring of the house Switch electric did. The (unavoidable) damage to the living area was kept to a minimum. The guys were very friendly and came on time. My only complaint is that they need to clean up better. This was especially annoying since a short video on their website shows how they wear booties (not done), lay out protective plastic sheets (not done) and vacuum up all debris (done minimally). That said I can still recommend their service.

Dear Member, Thanks for the review! All of our electricians are supplied and trained to use booties and put down plastic when needed, its disappointing this was not done during the rewire process of your home and it was not left as clean as you expected, I assure you this will be rectified to prevent this from happening to any customers in the future as well as for you if you decide you need anything else done to your home. It was a pleasure doing work with you though and we appreciate you using us for your whole house rewire, please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any need for us in the future!

The scheduling process was very smooth. The electrician showed up on time and was friendly and helpful. He took care to minimize the impact of his work, including cleaning the walls and floor around the project areas, and he worked efficiently. I had purchased most of the fixtures ahead of time to minimize costs, but in addition to the wire required for the project, there were a couple of junction boxes, faceplates and dimmers that I opted not to purchase, figuring that the provider might have preferred materials. I fully expected that these items would be added to my bill, with some markup. I'm guessing the total retail cost of the materials was less than $100, but the total materials cost was $250. Maybe this is customary in the industry, but I couldn't help feel a bit gouged.

Phenomenal work and professional service across the board by Switch! Just had the elctrical inspector by today to sign off on the permit and even he was extremely impressed by the work that Switch had done. Jeremy was a superior technician with an eye for detail, personable and approachable nature, and a meticulous skill set that made me extremely comfortable about the scope and quality of work he perfromed. Ashely, in the front office, took four or five calls from me throughout the process and she was polite, professional, and extremely helpful. Tyler, also in the front office I imagine, managed all the electronic correspondence professionally, promptly and answered every question thoroughly. In the strange world of Pacific Northwest contractors who don't call back, drop off the face of the earth after making contact, or treat customers as if it they are bothering by us asking for their services Switch is the complete opposite and a breath of fresh air. Switch is neither the cheapest nor the most expensive of the contractors we had out to look at the work but the intangibles and organization they brought to the process have made them the only choice we will use going forward for our future upgrades and remodels that involve electircal work.

I just bought a house, as is. Estate sale. Yikes. I was in this one-owner, 73-year-old house for just a few weeks when I discovered an in-wall electrical heater?maybe 50 years old?mysteriously turned on by itself, burning so hot I thought the house would burn down. Along with home-grown octopus tentacles of dangerous do-it-yourself (ungrounded) wiring, I knew the knob-and-tube mess would have to go sooner than later. Much sooner. CHOOSING SWITCH I knew no electricians, so I tried Angie?s List and got bids. Switch Electric was not the cheapest, but owner Tyler Keezer was the most thorough in assessing what needed to be done, carefully addressing the serious safety issues, and then writing a very detailed work proposal--using an iPad! He was also just a really nice guy; good rapport. (You can see for yourself in his business video.) I realized my electrical issues were ?all or nothing;? impossible to do piecemeal work with the house and its non-code, do-it-yourself electrical mess. So I asked for a full overhaul, ASAP?for safety?s sake and to bring it all up to code. THE WORK Tyler decommissioned that mysterious wall heater as well as the knob and tube. Then, room by room, indoors and outdoors, he brought the electrical system up to code with outlets, proper grounding, lighting fixtures, 200A meter base, and so much more. He texted me updates during the day, and each evening emailed a full report of what been done, and what was next. EXTRA MILE Tyler and his crew are more than electricians; they?re decent folks. A supposedly winterized water pipe (so I?d been told before I bought the house) burst during today?s near-record cold. I was at work, but Jeremy of Switch Electric was at the house finishing the last electrical tasks. He quickly traced the source, shut off the main water, and called me with an assessment of the water break, offering the name of a reliable plumber (I knew none). End of the day, everything was fine: water pipe fixed, a reliable electrical system indoors and outdoors, safety issues resolved. And?I discovered through Angie?s List an electrical team, Switch Electric, that goes the extra mile in taking care of its customers, and their as-is homes.

Switch showed up promptly and on time. Even had an email reminder a day or 2 before which is much appreciated. One of my fans was upstairs and the other in a downstairs powder room. The electrician looked at both and then told me that it would cost extra to replace the second fan because there was no attic above it and it was hard piped in. In order to determine how much that might cost the fan would have to removed, likely destroying it. I asked for options and he suggested that I replace the motor on the ancient one that was there. It was nice that Switch was willing to apply the cost I paid for the second Dig Deal to the other fan but it would have been nice to know the caveat about the need to have an attic above the fan to actually get the deal price. I read the fine print several times before purchase and never noted that. The reason for a "B" rating rather than an "A". I opted to have them order a new fan motor for the old fan which they will do when they return. Turned out the first fan was hard piped as well so there were some install challenges but the work got done in less than 2 hrs. While they were here I asked for advise and quote to run additional power to my den. I have an appointment for that install in a couple of weeks. Overall a good experience. Obviously I will have them back!

Post-install, I was surprised that the invoice indicated we spent the full amount of -two- big deals when we only installed four cans. I knew that we were going to pay extra to have a circuit installed and a switch re-wired, but was still expecting to have quite a bit of value left on my coupon. The coupon clearly indicated that there was both a 'promotional value' and an 'actual value', as well as that any unspent value could be credited towards other work. I reached out to Switch about restating my invoice (by my calculations, I should have had still about $300 remaining available against my coupon). They assert that the promotional value is only for ceiling cans, and that the -promotional value- cannot be carried over to other work, only the actual value. Honestly, if I had known that, I would not have purchased two coupons in the first place. Overall, they did a fine job as far as an installation goes but the experience was a little disappointing. The lack of any estimate from the consulting electrician and the misunderstanding around invoice/promotional value/actual value makes me pretty clear that I would not use them again. Update: Response to owner's response: I stand by my previous comments and do not see in any way that I'm 'twisting' the coupon. The exact words from my purchase description from the coupon are: "offering four cans of 6" recessed lighting and a dimmer switch for only $399! This is normally priced at $800, saving our members 50%!" and "Promotional value expires six months from date of purchase. Purchase amount does not expire" Given that language, I feel it's fully reasonable to understand that the 'promotional value' of this coupon was $800. I fully respect that they might lose money, but it wouldn't be unknown to use something like this as a loss leader to pick up new business and so I don't think my view was totally unexpected. That said, once the owner responded to me directly to explain things and was very apologetic but clear, while I was disappointed I did not press the issue. However, I would refute their claim that they 'tried to explain several times that the coupon can be refunded'. Nowhere in our conversations did that come up. Nor did I ever ask for a refund or contest any of the expenses - as I stated in my review I was overall pleased with the work and the results. In regards to the estimate and invoice: it's curious to me that I received emails just fine from them for the appointment reminders and the follow-up invoice and correspondence but that despite repeated requests the estimate was never provided. I'm not refuting their comment that it was explained over the phone - it was summarized - but that's very different from having a copy of the estimate to review with figures. It additionally speaks to their representation of the facts in this regard that they state "when we arrived at the home we also went over it again which he approved" while I was not home for the installation. I would also add that it's not my intention to present the whole experience as a loss nor characterize the company or work as bad. I was very pleased with the responsiveness at the outset, and my interactions with both the owner and the receptionist were very professional and exactly what I would expect from a contractor. The work they did is very nice and we're pleased with the outcome. I never had any sense that they were trying to take advantage of me as a consumer or of the situation in regards to the coupon. I would not go out of my way to use them again, which is something I'm always looking for when I use a new service provider. The negative characterization of me in their response also seems a little harsh. Despite that, my summary is the same as before - overall they did a fine job but the experience was a little disappointing.
Description of Work: Overall a very mixed service. After reading the fine print on their 'big deal' of four can lights plus dimmer installed, I bought two. They were quick to communicate and happy to come out to 'consult' and discuss the installation before setting up a time to actually install, and even happy to reschedule it after -we- missed the appointment the first time. From there, it was less satisfying. After discussion, we opted to only install four lights in our living room. We discussed options and the fellow providing the consult agreed to follow-up with the quote for a couple different approaches we had considered, as well as information on which manufacturers and equipment were available. That quote never materialized. I called their office twice requesting they send me a copy of the quotes so we could decide on an approach and book the install. Apparently only the consulting electrician has the information so the receptionist - who was very helpful and understanding - was unable to send it to me herself. I know the email address worked as they were able to send the appointment confirmation (and, ultimately, the bill) with no issues but was unable to actually get a quote from them. Finally, I simply made the installation booking without ever having seen the quote (we were hoping to have the lighting installed before the holidays). |Installation went smoothly, they were fast and professional. Four cans installed and work beautifully, really helping the space.

Response from Switch Electric LLC
Dear Member, What you tried to do is use our coupon for cash back essentially towards other electrical work, which the first fine print detail clearly says not vailid for cash back, you purchased a coupon for $400 that was valued at $800 for a specific job to be done and decided you didn't want to do the can lights, (which he knew as he purchased the coupon) but thought you should receive an $800 dollar credit towards any other work you would like to get done, we tried to explain to him several times that the coupon can be refunded and then he could just pay for the actual work we did - or he could use the purchase amount towards other electrical work, not the promotional amount, and that the coupon is not for 50 percent off any electrical work up to $800 dollars, it is for can lights only. We are able to provide such a great deal to customers on this install because our vans come to the job already set up to do that specific deal, we also purchase the can lights in bulk as well as the trims and lamps and pass the savings on to Angie's List customers, if the customer had an option to not do the deal and have $800 to use any way they please, we would lose money on the job and not be able to offer this great deal ever again, and possibly put us out of business depending on how many coupons were sold. Also, no where in the fine print does it say "as well as that any unspent value could be credited towards other work, " as the customer stated. We also tried to send the estimate several times to the email address on file, the same one that we used to invoice and the same one we used for appointment confirmations, I know this because I was involved on trying to get this sent. So we went over what was on the estimate on the phone, he approved, and then when we arrived at the home we also went over it again which he approved. So even if he never received the initial copy we never left him in the dark on what was actually going to be done. Its sad to see a review on our company that is a misrepresentation of what we are, and tried to make it look like we took advantage of him, when the truth was it was the other way around, and we did everything we could to make his experience the best and show him that we care and what sets us apart from the competition, but that being said we can't allow a customer to try and twist the coupon into what he believes is right, and have to stand behind what is right, and unfortunately we received this review in the process.

Kory did an excellent job!! He walked me through each step of the way working to minimalize the damage to drywall and finding the best ways to pull the wires through the house. His professionalism and attention to detail including cleaning up afterwards was exceptional. This was one of the hardest jobs to do considering the home had no clear channel for taking wires from the top to the bottom. Yet he was able to this. In addition he is planning to come back out to do the final connection with the A/C once it is installed as he wants to be sure the connection is done correctly. I was impressed throughout the job and would highly recommend them for any work.

We have a light in the kitchen which is not working sometime. They came to check it and found loose connection above the ceiling, and fixed it. However, the problem occurred again. Upon inspection, I was informed (as I suspected) that it needed a total upgrade (from 60 to 200). I agreed to have the work done. I questioned the estimate from the employee on the tax assessed (did not take into account the "coupon"). The owner corrected the estimate & the work was scheduled. The day of it had to be rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances. The work was done as described in the time estimated. I had been incorporated into the city of Kirkland the prior year, but the on-line permit site still listed Bothell so the company arranged to have the inspector from Bothell, although I assured them I was in the city of Kirkland. The day of the scheduled inspection, I was called to advise the inspection had to be from Kirkland & the appointment was rescheduled. The reschedules could have posed a more serious problem for those who had to take time off from work. Otherwise, the work was performed as required and a blown outlet was replaced even though it was not part of the deal.

It was really good. I paid more because I got different cans. They were more expensive. It wasn't an easy install. It ended up being a bit more, like twice as expensive but that's because I asked for more stuff. The job came out perfect overall. It was more than the big deal because I asked for it specifically.

Jeremy was in the basement of my home when he installed an electric heater in a downstairs room. In researching where to get the power for the heater, he noticed that my husband, now deceased, installed a small breaker panel in the furnace room. This was during a remodeling job my husband did in the downstairs bathroom. Jeremy found the tripped switch there and after flipping it to on, the lights came on in the bathroom. The great thing is that he didn't charge me for this visit.
Description of Work: Jeremy came to assess why the lights and outlets weren't working in the downstairs bathroom. There was no breaker tripped in the breaker panel in the laundry room. Two men neighbors tried but couldn't discover what was causing the situation.
