Everything went great. Brian was very pleasant, prompt, patient and seemed very thorough on both visits. The work area was put back as it was prior to the visits. The circuit breaker for a pond tripped twice for no obvious reason and would not reset. I explained that the circuit breaker was installed almost a year ago when the new pump was installed. Brian said a breaker should not fail so soon and because it was for a pump located outside he would check to make sure everything dry and working properly on that end too. He found a loose connection at the circuit breaker. Before he started Brian gave me the price for the service call and the cost of the circuit breaker if he replaced it. The service call was a little more expensive than the company I used before. For the second visit, an appointment was scheduled for the following week. A day or so after scheduling the appointment Brian called to ask if he could come out later that day. He installed a new circuit breaker and while cleaning the work area the new one tripped. He rechecked the wiring, made sure the area the pump was located at was dry and found no problems. He put the old circuit back and said the problem might be the pump itself. Before installing the new breaker he said the price of the new breaker was lower because this was a second visit and there would be no service charge.
Description of Work: Brian, the electrician, tightened a loose wire for a circuit breaker. About a week later, the circuit breaker tripped again. Brain replaced the circuit breaker. While he was still here, the new breaker tripped so he again rechecked everything. Brian hooked the old circuit breaker back into the panel.

I purchased the bathroom fan install and was contacted promptly via the message system by Switch Electric. They provided me with the instructions to schedule the work and I elected to schedule online with them. They sent me back a confirmation almost immediately and also called me the day before the service date to again confirm the date and time. Jeremy arrived right on time, in fact a few minutes early which I found a great first impression. He introduced himself and explained what the process would be. He assessed the bathroom fan I wanted replaced and then explained that the work could not be completed due to ductwork incompatibility. He tested the existing fan and informed me that it was working appropriately and offered a suggestion that I might be able to purchase a new grill cover to update the retro look. He inquired if there was any other work I would like to discuss and I showed him an outside pole lamp that was no longer working. He made some suggestions and told me he would send me an estimate for the outside lamp work and I received it the same day. I was disappointed that the work to update the fan could not be completed but I was totally impressed with Jeremy and his communication, his integrity, and his follow through. He informed me that I should contact Angie's list for a full refund since no work was performed. I would definitely contact Switch Electric again because I was so impressed with Jeremy and his customer service!

By having them do the work, they refunded the $125 Angie's List home inspection fee for the earlier inspection they did. They stayed true to the original estimate. Kory was reasonably prompt, very friendly, and well-trained. He troubleshot the failure of one of my new light fixtures and replaced the light switch at no added cost to the estimate. Go Kory!

Bryan showed up ahead of schedule ready to work. We had him install several light fixtures which were not an easy task (vaulted ceilings that required an extension ladder and complicated fixtures). He also installed a ceiling fan for us where there was no box. He explained everything before he did it so that I knew what would need to happen to make it work. He accomplished everything ahead of schedule. I wish I would have bought more fixtures for him to install. Will definitely use them again in the future.

They did a fantastic job for us and they were very professional. They have a magnificent service. When he came out to do the work he had all of the parts that he needed and he was very clean, organized, polite, and considerate. They are good on follow through about the service, through emails; they’ve really got their computer system where it needs to be. Their billing system is wonderful as well.
Description of Work: I have had them out to my home on three different occasions. The first time they came out they upgraded my electrical switches and electrical box. The second time they came out they add a strip to the electrical box that was not there before. And this time they installed attic fans in my home.

It was AMAZING! The highlight of my day and week easily. I have been bragging to people about how my house is now awesome! Purchase of deal through arrival of electrician at my door: 9.5/10. - The company contacted me 2 days after my purchase with a number to call to schedule my job. I called, we got something on the calendar for a month later (due to my schedule constraints, not theirs). - I had it in my calendar, but was going to follow up with a confirm to them the day before they were supposed to show up, but they sent me a confirm the day before via email. - My only suggestion would be in the email confirm the day before, to include the name of the technician who will be showing up. However, I responded to that email asking who it would be and w/in an hour they responded with the name of our electrician - Brian! - Brian showed up right at 9:00AM! Electrician work by Brian: Brian gets a 10/10 - He showed up on time - I showed him all of our potential projects - he walked me through any issues the projects might face - - aka I can do this, but I'll need to make holes in the dry wall here, here, here - - He fixed all things I needed fixed, and many things I wanted fixed. - He wore shoe covers in the house, and cleaned up after himself - He picked up new pieces that we needed from the store but confirmed pricing before installing them - He was kind, explained what he was doing to the extent that I cared, and provided some insight for the future This was excellent! I will recommend Switch Electric and Brian to anyone I know with electrical issues!
Description of Work: I bought an Angie's List special: 8 hours of electrical work around our house for $400 (plus the cost of parts). We have had small things in the house slowly stop working over the past two years and some electrical that was weird when we bought the place. All of our issues were addressed. - front porch light wasn't working - turned out the fixture was bad, it now works - dining room light wasn't working - turned out the light switch was faulty - light in garage didn't turn on with opener, light in yard stopped working (was on a daylight sensor), light above kitchen sink didn't work - - embarrassed to write this, but the bulbs were just out - Brian didn't make me feel stupid at all and picked up new bulbs for us while getting other parts we needed. - both outlets in entry way were connected to a switch (so lamp had to be on to vacuum), now only one is "hot" - the light switch downstairs only worked if the light switch upstairs was on (very stupid), now the light switch downstairs always works - FIXED EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL IN OUR MAIN BATHROOM Went from: one light switch outside bathroom turned on the light and fan and electrical outlets. And the fan had broken. To...: switches were moved inside the bathroom, they were decoupled, so you can have lights on with no fan (now I can take relaxing bathes), the fan engine was busted - so we have a new fan on a separate switch, AND the outlets are now always on, so we have moved our Sonicare toothbrush charger back into the bathroom (from the office).

It was amazing. Tyler was the original electrician that came out to quote the job. He arrived an hour early (they called first). We had a line of lights that stopped working in our basement and a 1950's refrigerator with a missing electrical chord. Tyler did some troubleshooting, provided an interim fix, provided the quote and didn't bill for anything. He also noticed that the previous home owner had done the electrical work in the basement and the boxes weren't up to specs, so he included that work in the quote for free if we had them do the work. When he came back to perform the work with another electrician...the job was supposed to take 5.5 hours, i think they were finished in 2 hours or close to that. The refrigerator still wouldn't work after they fixed the chord, so they didn't charge for that and provided recommendations on how to go about getting it fixed. Thumbs up to Switch!!! You guys ROCK!!!
Description of Work: ACTIVITY QUANTITY AMOUNT Refeed existing downstairs lighting circuit that has lost its power.Circuit will be fed from entry receptacle and dropped down into storage room ceiling, where from there the storage room light will be fed with constant power, storage room receptacle will be fed with constant power, and the downstairs light switch will be fed with its new power source. All new wiring in storage room will be done in flexible metal conduit to prevent Sheetrock damage. Clean up existing receptacle make up in downstairs basement done free if charge with work done. • Install a new 12/3 grounded cord on the existing downstairs refrigerator.

I was disappointed at first, since Scott was late and had not called. He did show up just a few minutes later and apologized for being late due to a difficult start to the day. We discussed the work to be done and he offered that if it was a straightforward problem, he would do the labor for no charge. He found the GFI was not hooked up properly, so he repaired that, checked out the main panel and was done in just a few minutes. As promised, there was no charge and he again apologized for his tardiness. What was impressive to me is that he took time to show me exactly what was wrong with the hookup, gave me some pointers on avoiding future problems and told me it was most important that I was happy with the service... I would call them again!

Scheduling was fine - service provider showed up on time. Service provider kept things clean within reason - still some insulation left around the area, but for the most part everything was clean. It was a two person crew - one person was performing the work while the other person looked on - sitting on top of my bathroom counter-top - and it was obvious that the person performing the work was also being trained on it. Bathroom fan had existing 3" vent duct and I was advised by the provider to replace that with a 4" duct to quiet the fan down. Today I went up to the attic to perform that vent swap and then was able to fully inspect the installation. Mechanically, I can't think of how the installation could have been done any worse - the fax box was simply screwed right through the sheet metal on one side of the housing to a joist at the bottom of the attic. I can lift the fan box up with almost no pressure - basically the entire weight of the fan and housing is on the ceiling drywall. There is also a gap due to the flange at the bottom of the fan housing - a flange which is supposed to sit between the the ceiling drywall and the joist. I can understand not being able to get that flange between the drywall and joint on a retrofit application, but the housing clearly should have been bracketed between the joists in this case.

Response from Switch Electric LLC
Dear Member, Thanks for your review, we wish would have contacted us about these concerns and we could have explained to you a retrofit installation of a bathroom fan and why the install is actually done correctly and not done incorrect as you are stating in your review, the fan itself does not come with any brackets and is actually made to be screwed to the joist and to rest on top of the sheetrock in an install where sheetrock is already present, I realize the fan seems loose because the sheet metal they make the fans out of is really thin, but I assure you if the sheetrock was removed it would not go anywhere because of being screwed to the joist. I apologize you feel like we did not do a quality job for you and had we have known you were upset, we could've explained to you the installation process or suggested another fan that we could install for you that came with brackets, if that is your personal preference on how you want your fan to be mounted. We will attempt to reach out to you to see if there is anything we can do to resolve this situation, we really do care about our customers and if they let us know what they received is not what they expected, we always do everything we can to make sure they end up with what they wanted, or can at least have a chance to explain its the design of the product and not the lack of quality on our install, thanks again and hope to get this issue resolved with you soon.

The Angie's List deal was for installing the generator transfer switch and an exterior outlet that is not more than 20 feet from the transfer switch. In our situation, the back of our house has a covered area with a panel for an old spa pumping system. The spa panel is served with one 30-amp breaker from the main panel in the garage, which is about 30 feet away. We removed the spa and pumps several years ago. I asked Tyler from Switch Electric if it would be possible to adapt the old 30-amp spa service line to serve as the generator connection to the transfer switch. That would allow us to keep the generator out of the rain, and in back of the house for better dispersion of exhaust. He answered that same day and agreed, if the spa line was in satisfactory condition. Kory came out on the scheduled day and time, and completed the job in 1½ hours. The main power to the house was only off for a few minutes. He had to adapt the exterior connector to mount on top of the spa breaker panel. Kory did an outstanding job. There was a little mix-up with the billing from Angie?s List. They should have charged me only $749, instead of $799 that included $50 tax, since I paid Kory the 7.7% tax of $57.67. I contacted Angie?s List for a $50 refund, and received it within two days.
Description of Work: Installed a generator transfer switch for six household circuits, next to the main breaker panel in the garage. Also installed the 4-prong exterior connector for a 5500-watt generator in a covered location at the back of the house.

Start to finish a great experience. Quick contact after I bought an Angies List Deal. I wasn't sure how much could be accomplished in one day from my extensive list of needs and I was impressed by how much was not only accomplished, but also how nice everything looked afterwards. The old sconces that were replaced used to hang crooked. When he replaced them they were perfectly straight and flush with the walls. You know when you have that hallway where the light only really turns on and off from one switch and if any of the other switches get touched that whole program is off? Yeah, I had two of them and they had it fixed in minutes. I had begun replacing most of the lights in my house with LED bulbs and noticed several of them flickered a little. It turns out my old 1987 "standard" light switches (especially the dimmers) aren't made to support the LEDs so Switch replaced every single one in the house (about 50). This is another place where you really saw the attention to detail. I'm not totally OCD, but I like the screws on the light switch covers to be straight. Without asking, every single screw was done that way. I've also replaced a bunch of light switches myself in the past, and I don't think non-DIY'ers can appreciate how it can be very frustrating getting switch plates flush with walls. These were all perfect. I also replaced the non GFCI outlets in the kitchen with GFCi's, and again was pleased to find out that I could save a little by only having GFCI outlets on the two main runs and I could use new standard outlets around the rest of the kitchen. They noticed my laundry room wasn't GFCI outlets so we replaced those too. Finally, I have a lot of outside porch/garage/driveway lights that I need to figure out a way to have on when I came home from work. I didn't know you could replace the on/off switch with an auto programmable timer that Switch recommended. He didn't have one in the truck so he headed down to home depot and picked one up, not counting the travel time against my hours. Net/net - This is a great company. Great service, great work done, and a lot of work in a short amount of time. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Replaced all the switches & dimmers with updated hardware, installed new sconces on stairs, fixed three way switches that were not working correctly, installed and configured auto on off device for all the outside lights and upgraded kitchen outlets to GFCi.
