I needed a new furnace. Thankfully I found out my 25 year old furnace was on its last in August rather then in February, so I had the leisure of getting multiple bids from different contractors. Ballard Natural Gas was the only contractor out of three, who actually took the time to do a load test. Neil came in and measured each room, noted which windows were new in my 90 year old house and which were original single pane, we spoke about the insulation etc. He plugged it all into the software and came out with an accurate recommendation for a proper sized furnace. He gave me the bid on the spot, and we went over it. I had a few more questions and emailed him on Saturday, no sooner had I pressed send then he called me right back. The other contractors simply came in, looked at the old furnace, asked me if it kept me warm and wanted to replace it with the same size, even though it was about a third more Btu's then I needed. Ballard Natural Gas worked with me to streamline the process. They rerouted the water heater exhaust saving having to cut more holes in the siding to vent the new high efficiency Trane furnace. The installer was great, he spent almost 10 hours doing the work, and my basement looked cleaner then when he arrived. He was very helpful and took the time to go over any questions I had about installation etc. Ballard Natural Gas turns out to be, according to the installer a great place to work. They hire well, provide benefits and pay well. This is important to me, and it shows in the quality of their work and their customer service. Good workers who are paid well and have benefits stay longer and are often better at the work they do. This was certainly my experience. After the installation Neil came back for the walk through and the final paperwork, rebates, warranties etc. and went over the operation and features of the system. It was a great experience with a thoughtful, qualified contractor. At the time of install the installer showed me how dirty the duct work was near the furnace. I have never been a fan or advocate of duct cleaning, but after being in the house for 22 years, never having had them cleaned, I decided to take advantage of Ballard Natural Gas' installation discount for cleaning. The tech came in on time and did a fine job. Turned up all sorts of little treasures my kids had managed to force through the heating vents when they were much younger, along with a lot of dirt. Another good experience with Ballard Natural Gas. This won't be your least expensive bid, but it will be your most comprehensive and responsive bid, which for me was important. Having the properly sized furnace installed correctly was important to me. This isn't a purchase you make every day, and I may never buy another furnace again, but Ballard doesn't treat it that way, they work with you as if you are going to be a repeat customer for a new install every other year. It's a good business model. I will call them in the future for service, and have no difficulty recommending them.

Neil came out with a laptop and generated a number of quotes so I could compare different installations. He included the effect of rebates, discounts, and tax savings. He was also able to calculate energy savings with each model quoted. The installer came on the day assigned, and worked all day getting the old furnace out and the new one in. A tech showed up the next day to troubleshoot a connection that had come unplugged. Finally, their own inspection tech came in to check the work, give me some training on the thermostat and filter changing. He also presented me with two rebate checks, and the forms to apply for a PNG rebate. He also gave me a copy of the receipt to file with the IRS for the tax credit.

The team that came out spent almost an hour measuring our house and checking our layout. The proposal they provided was very detailed and we decided to upgrade to the heat pump instead of a replacement AC unit. We were able to find an open date that same week and the new system was installed without a hitch. The job took about 11 hours, and we were very impressed with the professionalism and courtesy of all their staff. The owner came out during the installation, and then again for the final hook up. He also performed the final inspection walk through to ensure the quality of the job met expectations. 2 days after the installation, their comfort consultant came back to make sure everything was working properly and to go over the thermostat controls with us. We are very happy with our new heat pump, and would highly recommend Ballard Natural Gas Services to any of our friends.

The experience was really good. I have had it done three other times. They were one of the best in terms of cleaning every single thing in the furnace. They took a look at everything and told me what I could do to make it more efficient.

We got great service there. They were thorough. They had competitive prices. We called in on them two or three times while we were deciding upon the insert to be installed. The guy from Ballard Natural Gas Service worked along with us regarding the insert. He just stuck with us. The guy who came home, spent a long time with us. He steered us towards product choices. I, along with my husband, chose an insert with a remote control rather than the one with the switch. As a woman who doesn?t love technology, I regret choosing that insert because it is more complicated to operate. With Ballard Natural Gas Service we had to get our own electrical contractors.

They were amazing from start to finish. I called during the "heat wave" and most companies wouldn't schedule me for another 7-10 days, especially because our A/C unit was installed by them. BNGS said they could come in the afternoon, but called me back and were able to get me in on a cancellation. Shawn showed up and quickly assessed the problem, which was essentially low freon. He was not indignant about the fact that our A/C unit is not top of the line, but instead set about trying to figure out how we could get this undersized, older model unit to work as well as possible given the current circumstances. What was especially nice was being told how A/C units work, how they are rated and what to expect from them in the Seattle area. Really helpful. He was fast, friendly, efficient and professional. We have "loft" areas in two upstairs bedrooms and so the air going into those ducts is a lot warmer than the rest of the house. He suggested an attic exhaust fan might make our AC unit work more efficiently. He called the main office and set up an appointment for me to have that estimate done.

They were very professional, prompt, and friendly.

They first gave me an estimate and were upfront with the price. They were pretty busy at one point of time when I called them and could not come out. But, they called me later in the day and said that they had an appointment that was canceled and they came over. I had a good experience with them.

We just bought our first house and knew we had to replace the furnace as the one we had was over 20 years old, was backdrafting, and wasting energy. We called Ballard Natural Gas and another company for estimates. We felt like the original estimate from Ballard was high so we had a long conversation with Geoff and had him break it apart into pieces so we could pick and choose what we wanted to do. The other company also did this and had some cheaper products but we felt like the quality and guarantee was worth paying for with Ballard. Ballard worked hard to bring the price down and I felt like we got a good deal for the quality of product we received. The installer came on time and although he didn't talk a lot he did a really great job installing by himself in the crawl space - It took all day. We then had a final inspection and discussion with Geoff and I felt very satisfied with the job they did and the service they provided. Our furnace works great and even keeps our house cooler in the summer!

The original tank was clearly beyond repair. The Ballard representative came out right away, explained what was needed and patiently answered all my questions. They came promptly the next day to install the new tank. They started it up, found it defective, and though we said we could wait until the next day for its replacement, they were back with a second tank and had it all installed and tested within 2 hours. They were prompt, professional, efficient, and honest. They did not add on unnecessary "fixes," as did another company which came out to have a look. We highly recommend Ballard Natural Gas.

Old Boiler stopped working. They came out and worked on it for a while and got it running again; told me no more parts availability and that they fixed it best they could. Suggest I call PSE if I smelled gas (gas smell was immediate and strong). I called back next day and asked them to fix the gas leak, they came again and worked for a while and improved the it greatly. Charge was $421.00. They told me that since I found out about them on Angies list I would get a 10% deduction. Never did. I called and remeinded them, and they said they would, but never did.

It went great. From the moment their estimator Taylor came over, we liked them. Extremely knowledgeable, including about the larger energy/environmental impact of different choices. Really walked you through the options. Just great people. Furnace has worked fine with now problems, but what I like is that they're always looking for ways to make the installation more efficient--came up with a great idea to boost the efficiency of an on-demand hot water heater they just installed this May. We'd at first talked to the company that installed our previous heater, and they were ok, but Ballard was just way more knowledgable, with comparable prices. (I gave them a B on price just because they were the same as everyone else, but with great quality).

I interviewed three service providers initially and I chose them from among the three. I liked the people I talked to and they did good work, and they had a good price. When a little something went wrong, they came back and fixed it with no charge. If I had a question, they answered it clearly. I have not had any complaints with them.

They were very professional and friendly. They were very honest as well. They weren't trying to just make money off of me. They gave me a quality consultation. They told me that the way my house was built and the gas lines were set up, it would be impossible.

Taylor came out and was very professional and went around the condo to deterine the furnace that would be needed to replace the old one. He then followed-up with a quote over e-mail, the price though was double the grouping at the bottom. I got a couple of quotes around this price and it appears certain furnace manufacturers for electric furnaces are very expensive. I went with the one that was more than 1/2 the price.

When the hot water heater went out I called several companies who were unwilling to come out. It was a Saturday and in addition, many companies do not work on tankless hot water heaters. But when I reached this company, they sent someone out within a couple of hours.

It went very well from beginning to end. I called for someone to come and give me an estimate and scheduled an appointment right away. The estimate was very professional and since I had done work with this company in the past (servicing my furnace), they were at the top of my list. The big was very similar to another company, so I scheduled the work. The technician was there right on time and worked quickly to remove the old water heater, move the water lines, bring the natural gas line to the other side of the house, hang the tankless unit outside, and then test everything. There were a couple of snags during the process, but those were handled quickly and efficiently. I love my new tankless unit!

Our hot water tank started leaking on a Sunday afternoon so we left a message with Ballard Natural Gas Service to call us back. We were called promptly on Monday morning and a representative was at our house later that morning. We discussed a tank less system with Geoff. He explained everything to us and what our options were. We had our furnace inspected at the first of the year and knew that we had at the most another couple of years left before it should be replaced. We decided to go with a tank water heater and go ahead and replace the furnace at the same time. Geoff had explained that there was a large tax write off for 2009 for furnace replacement so this helped us in our decision. Once we made our decision we were told that the replacement could start the next morning. On Tuesday morning the installers arrived at the scheduled time and explained everything that they would be doing and began replacing the hot water tank and furnace. They were done by the afternoon. When they finished they showed us how everything was done and how to operate the furnace. They did an excellent job in cleaning up the excess material and hauling away the old tank and furnace. We met again on Wednesday with Geoff and he went through the check list and once again explained how everything worked. He answered all of our questions and we did not feel rushed in any way. Our experience with the whole staff at Ballard Natural Gas was 5 star!

Ballard Natural Gas Service has good employees. They explained everything that needed to be explained and the furnace has worked great. They were very friendly but they were a little difficult to get a hold of over the phone.

My experience with them was very positive. They did a good job and cleaned up after they were done.

Very professional, responsive and thorough in every way. Most accommodating, taking care to keep everything cleaned up at the end of the day. Wouldn't hesitate to do business with Ballard Natural Gas again or recommend them to someone else. Great experience with no surprises or unexpected expenses. Everything explained carefully and clearly.

I didn't like working with them. They were not able to resolve the problem and they still charged us. They were there when they said they would be. They told us what it would cost to come out.

Perfect. Scott was right on time and showed excellent confidence in his abilities. He answered my numerous questions and gave me a lot of valuable information about possible modifications to our heating and cooling desires in the future.

It was a positive experience. They were prompt. They did exactly what they said they would do. It was an expensive proposition but the worked with me. I think their price is competitive.
