 + -1 moreJesse came out to give us an estimate and even brought a sample piece of the insulated steel door we were considering. His estimate for the 5 doors, opener and installation was the lowest for what we considered the best door. Even though the oversize doors were special order, Jesse gave us a reasonable installation date, noting that it would take two days to finish the job. Rob was the installer and we were very impressed with his work. He had the 5 doors and openers all installed in the scheduled time, made sure everything was working to our satisfaction, and did a nice neat job. Overall, we couldn't be happier, it was a great job!
Description of Work: We needed 5 new garage doors, 3 average size ones for our house and 2 oversize doors for our detached garage plus an opener for the largest oversize door, all installed. In addition, we already had 3 door openers that we wished to reuse on the new doors.

 + -1 moreAfter getting disgusted with trying to work with Better Built Door. We called another company. They came out very quickly. Very professional and responsive. Communications very timely and well and we made some changes along the way. Now our door is ordered with them and so we're very very happy with the other company.
Description of Work: Wow. How do some companies stay in business. Not once, but twice, we had the guy from Better Built Door to our house to estimate putting in a door. The first time, after the initial responsiveness and visit, resulted in never hearing from them again. We put off the door for the summer so it didn't matter. But at summer's end we called them again. He couldn't find any documentation of his prior visit. So he came out again. Same drill. After two weeks, no estimate. We called. "Oh I'll have something in the mail on Tuesday." That was three weeks ago. What on earth. I am not a conspiracy theorist but my partner and I start to wonder what the deal is. If this happens often they can't possible run a business. Moreover it doesn't agree with any of the "A" reports and glowing comments other members are posting on their behalf. Curious to see who else and what sort of people are having this experience.

 + -1 moreThey did a great job! They hauled the old doors away. They've been running well since they were installed. They gave us a very custom job. Their promptness, courtesy and ability to work with our schedule was wonderful. This is a small company and so they were really marvelous to work with.
Description of Work: They installed two new garage doors. This included everything, including motors to replace the old ones.

 + -1 moreJessie and I traded voice mail for a couple of days, then one of his guys came out. He was right on time and told me about all of my options - replacing the door, replacing all the springs, or just replacing 1 of the springs - and the pluses and minuses of each option. I chose to replace all 4 springs, and once he confirmed that he had everything needed to do the job with him, he did. It took less than 2 hours, he was super nice and courteous, and the garage door is working again. In addition, our garage door opener seems to be running more smoothly now that the total load on it is evenly distributed.
Description of Work: We have a VERY heavy garage door that breaks 1 of it's 4 torsion springs every once in a while. When one of the springs is broken, the garage door opener is not strong enough to get the door open. Better Built Door replaced all 4 torsion springs so that they can evenly share the load and last longer.

 + -1 moreAs above. I would absolutely recommend him to others and feel that he is totally dependable and reliable. He is honest and went above and beyond what was necessary.
Description of Work: I spoke with Jesse about replacing my garage door which was in poor repair. He came at the time we agreed on and gave me an estimate to have the work done. He explained that the door opening was very tight and that he would be able to replace it but the options were limited due to the tight opening. I have an older home and wanted to keep the look of the original door if I could. He recommended someone who would be able to repair the existing door and even called and set up an appointment for me. He did not charge me for the service call. I really respected his ethics.

 + -1 moreI have arthritis in my fingers and sometimes it catches my finger print and at other times it does not. They came back and fixed it for me, but I still tend to use the garage door opener, which would have been cheaper than the finger print feature.

He is honest and advised that we should just purchased one new opener, as opposed to two (as we originally thought) because one of our opener is still working. I appreciated that he thinks from a customer's perspective and tries to save $ for us. Another gentleman came for the actual work. He arrives on time and finished the work within the time frame promised. The work is beautifully done. Our garage looks bigger after the new door installed.
Description of Work: Remove 2 old garage doors, install two new garage doors, install one new garage door opener (material included).

 + -1 moreI called for an estimate and Jesse came out the next day exactly as scheduled. The estimate seemed very reasonable so the job was scheduled about a week later. Rob (installer) arrived that morning, again as scheduled, to start the job. I almost expected he would have someone with him to help, but he had no problem getting the job done by himself. The speed and ease with which this job was completed was impressive, experience always seem to make things look easy. By early afternoon both doors and garage door openers were installed, adjusted, and looked great. Rob explained all the features and controls of the openers, helped me set up the keypad (included at no charge), and patiently answered all of my questions. After a manufacturer's rebate on the openers, I ended up paying a little less than the estimate. From start to finish, a positive experience.
Description of Work: Removed and disposed of 2 wooden doors, related hardware, and one garage door opener. Installed 2 insulated steel doors, vinyl door stops, 2 Liftmaster garage door openers, control panels, and keypad.

 + -1 moreAfter a slight misstep, Jesse and his team displayed tremendous customer service. Jesse agreed to send out an installer at 8 AM on a Friday morning to replace our two garage doors, but when the installer hadn't arrived by 10 AM I gave him a call. It turned out that Jesse had written down the wrong date for our installation, but he quickly responded by shuffling his team's schedule for the day and coming out with his installer (Rob) that afternoon to get our old garage doors ripped out and the new ones put in place. On top of that, he installed at no charge the two new garage door openers that I'd purchased and planned on installing myself - a service that would normally be $80 per garage door opener. Needless to say, I was quite impressed at how Jesse responded to the scheduling mix-up and was also very happy with the work he and Rob did.
Description of Work: Replaced two garage doors and installed two garage door openers.

Robert(?) threw in numerous spare parts that I had managed to mis-place and gave me all kinds of useful advice. Great job!

He did not try to sell me something I didn't need and was very helpful in what I did. They came out a week later on time and finished on time. They left the area clean and all garbage taken away. I would definitely recommend this company.

 + -1 moreHe showed up 15 minutes early, introduced himself, listened to our problem, investigated the problem, offered his recommendations to resolve our problem, and clearly went over all our choices. Went to work and cleaned up after himself. Through an error of mine that I noticed after he left, I called him and he came back and he fixed the mistake I caused for no charge.
Description of Work: Trouble shot the old opener and door, replaced the broken opener, tuned all 3 garage doors even though he was really only working on the one.

 + -1 moreCalled Jesse and arranged for an estimate. He was able to give an estimate for the work the next day and later that same day we scheduled the work for 2 weeks out. Our schedule was flexible and he was able to move us up several days in the schedule. The work was completed in about 4 hours including the removal of the old door. I was extremely pleased with the quick response, the good work and the reasonable price. As a followup, the door required some adjustment after several weeks of use and Jesse was able to schedule someone out in just a few days. The adjustment was made and the door is VERY quiet now. There was no charge for the adjustment. I would recommend Better Built Door without reservation.

 + -1 moreOverall, it went very well. The installation process took about two hours. The technician did a very good job and spent a lot of time explaining the unit and how it worked. He noticed a safety bar that was not on the top of the door and asked if I wanted one installed. It only cost an additional $25 and I didn't feel pressured into purchasing the mechanism. The tech did not leave until I understood how to use the unit and took me through he manual in layman's terms.
Description of Work: I had a garage door opener (Liftmaster)installed for my home. I can't remember the technician's name, but he did a fantastic job of installing the system and recommended I install a safety bar on the door, as one was not installed when the doors were originally put in.

 + -1 moreCalled them on the phone, they setup an appointment to come out and do an estimate within a week. Jesse was very knowledgeable and friendly...gave great advice. They came 1 week later...took about 3.5 hours, and they even lowered my garage door opener so that it would work correctly for free. Excellent service and really nice guys...you definitely get your money's worth.
Description of Work: New 16'x7' insulated double sided steel garage door with windows, as well as new trim to seal the door, and disposal of the old door.

He worked diligently for several hours. When he was finished he showed me how to operate the units and also installed a key pad. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable.

 + -1 moreTook advantage of the special $390 installed price per unit. This included the opener, backup battery, remote, interactive wall pad, and outside keypad. The price for these units installed was hundreds of dollars cheaper than other local competitors. Jesse showed up right on time. It took him less than an hour and a half to install two units and to adjust my garage doors. Jesse was very professional and informative. I am very happy with Better Built Door and would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Installed two Liftmaster 3850 garage door openers with battery backup. Also replaced defective spring pulleys.

 + -1 moreFor me to save money, Better Built suggested that I go to the store and buy the two openers. I thought that was very nice of them. They are a small family owned business and they do great. While they were here, they noticed that my wall was crooked so they framed out the door, so that it would open and close. They did a fantastic job. My neighbor now uses them across the street, too.

They let me know what the cost would be and how long it would be before the door was ready and they were right on for both. When it came time to install they did a great job with no problems at all. Their price was approximately $800.00 less than a competitor for the exact same door.
