Jesse of Better Built Door was fantastic and I would recommend him to anyone. I tried to do this job myself and literally ended up in the ER eight painful stitches in my hand! I am a competent mechanic but these Giant torsion springs are very tricky -- if you need to have this done, observe the warning tag and hire a pro like Jesse. It is the best money you will spend. He came out the same day I called; he set up and performed the work in less than half an hour. He was also kind enough to answer all my questions and provide interesting details about the doors and why he did things the way he did. For example, I never considered that wood doors were heavier in winter than summer due to trapped moisture; he set the spring to provide a balance between the two conditions. In addition he adjusted the force in the drive motor to be more appropriate for heavy wood doors, and lubricated the screw drive. And he gave me a sympathy discount after hearing my story, seeing my hand, and noticing the dried blood on the garage floor! The door is now operating literally better than new, and Better Built Door has a customer for life. You would do well hiring this company for your job.

I really appreciated that he took the time to help me do fix my door myself, and I won't call anyone else when I have garage door issues.

I received 3 estimates before I decided on a contract. BBD were $1000 less expensive than the other two! I was able to get an appointment quickly with the company owner. He came out, measured the doors, discussed door options, gave me an estimate, and gave me some information about garage doors in general. He then sent out Rob, the installer to remeasure the doors and placed the order. The double garage door had to be special ordered and when it arrived, they made an appointment with me and Rob came out and installed the doors. Both men were very professional and accountable. It was a pleasure doing business with them.

Received 4 bids, one over the phone. Jesse was the most professional and I greatly appreciated his willingness to educate me on doors as well as answer numerous questions. He's been in industry for 20+ years. The price was mid / lower range and definitely lower than a competitor who sells the same door and who tried to "quickly" upsell me. Better Built had the courtesty to treat me like a customer, not a "stop by" when I have time bid. That said...we love the door. It makes the house quieter, definitely garage warmer, and looks great.

They did a great job! The estimator was very friendly and straight forward. The worker was on time and completed the job to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend them for any garage door work.

They arrived on time and were very professional, initially. They seemed to know what they were doing and made great recommendations. The problem was the clock on the wall control panel would not work. We spoke with Jesse, and he asked us to call him back and that he would come back to replace it. He came out and replaced the clock with a one that didn't match the original wall unit. This clock didn't work either, so we contacted Jesse again. He told us he had tested the original clock with his system(same as ours)and he claimed it was working properly. He then stated it was noise in the electrical lines preventing the clock from functioning properly. I called the manufacturer and they suggested a part (CPU) be replaced in the main unit itself and that Jessie's explanation of the "harmonics system" causing the problem didn't sound legitimate. We thought we had another problem as we thought we were erroneously leaving the garage door opened, but noticed that it was opening itself. I spoke with Jessie about my concerns and what the manufacturer had said, and was told he would contact me back. I feel I received faulty parts. Jessie will not come out to our home to fix anything nor even return our phone calls.

It went well. They are very customer service oriented.

All of the Angies List rated providers were quick to respond to my request for an estimate and all but one provided me with a written estimate within 5 days. Better Built Door gave me the best bid. They came when the doors were ready and they installed them in one day. Rob was the installer. His workmanship was very good. He also spent time explaing the operation of the controls and he gave me the door opener rebate forms that I needed to get rebates. The new doors look beautiful and I am sure that they will add value to our home..

They arrived on time (8:30am) and completed the work within the estimated time - no surprises and everyting went very smoothly. Looked like they had done this a thousand times before and were very professional.

Rob was quick to respond and arrived prepared with the correct size of gasket. (Turns out I had been struggling for hours to install the wrong type for the door.) He took care of the job in no time.

Selected this vendor from the list, called and described the work to be done, he was out two days later as scheduled to perform the work, was prompt, informative and very fast. Price was very reasonable.

Everything was very satisfactory. They arrived on time, were efficient, and knew what they were doing. Everything has worked perfectly since. They were very pleasant. The charge was also very reasonable.

The estiimate appointment went well enough, the only problems is that after several months and many phone calls and email requests to get an estimate, thus far, I have received nothing. Nothing in my mail, email, email junk folder, nothing, Hard to figure this out since I would think most people would want work in this terrible economy. Also, most of his ratings are positive, however, it appears another person had a similarly bad experience in 08,

The whole job went really well. The installers had with them all different door openers, so I could chose on the spot what I wanted and they didn't try to sell me what I don't need. I actually insisted on the more expensive model, because I wanted the fancier remotes. Since one of the installers was an apprentice, the other was explaining to him what to do and I was deeply impressed by the knowledge and desire to do the things right. I have seen many sloppy contractors trying to do the things somehow so they can get out ASAP. This installer was pushing to get the things straight, nice, firm and smooth, again very impressive job. Also the small advices he was giving to the apprentice were speaking of the incredible experience he had, he knew not only how to install it, but how to do it safest, easiest and perfectly aligned. In addition to installing the openers, the installer fixed (for free) one of the garage doors, which was falling apart, and re-stapled some cables that were hanging around from a sloppy job. And that w/o me asking about it. Lastly the job site was cleaned perfectly, which all by itself is rare achievement for a contractor in my experience. If I was to do the job myself, I could've installed one of the openers, even though for probably 4x the time. However I could not have installed the other, nor repair the door. So the installation was worth the money I paid for. And now I am hiring the same company to change my old garage doors, w/o looking for another company, just because of the professionalism of this installer.

Very well done - from the estimate to clean-up

Jesse replaced a broken spring, which had prevented the door from opening. He also suggested stiffening the door with a metal brace for an additional $25. He then adusted the entire mechanism and now it's as smooth as butter and better than new. Service was exceptionally responsive, he was at my house 30 minutes after I contacted him.

They did a great job from start to finish. The bid was straightforward and probably gave me the most information of all the bids. I didn't know that you could get an energy rebate if you put in an insulated door with vinyl siding. BBD was the only one to tell me that. The job took about 3 hours including install of new opener and removal of old door. Cleanup was superb!! Price was great.

Great service, quick, prompt and very professional. We got an estimate on a Friday and the work was done the following Tuesday. The price was the same as the estimate and was the best price of two other estimates that we got from companies that weren't as highly rated as Better Built Door. They came on time, got the work done in about 4 hours and cleaned up after themselves. No complaints.

It went very smooth. First, an employee showed up to survey my existing installation and give an estimate (which turned to be right on), week later (because I only could accomodate them on Saturdays) installation technician showed up and installed everything. Initially, he forgot to disable old mechanical door lock, which was promptly (meaning within hours) handled after call to their office.

Great! Jesse came out to measure and write up the bid. Very pleasant and professional to deal with. Jesse had the installer come by to check the door frame, which was an unusual shape, to ensure that they would have everything they needed to start the job. He let me know how to prep the garage so that they could get the job done. The installer finished in the time they said it would take. It looks good.

We set up the appointment for an estimate and he was right on time. The job came in at the estimated price. It was more of a custom sized door, called a high-lift door. The openers were also special. They are side mounted openers. They installed both doors in one day and took away the old doors for me. They did a great job and I would highly recommend them.

The owners main tech was busy on another job so he came out to fix it himself. Arrived about two hours after we called and did an ecellent job. Would definitely recommend this company again.

They came out and installed a new garage door opener and did an excellent job. They are a little more expensive but their services are worth it. I would use them again and would recommend them to others.

I was extremely happy with the service. With three days notice he showed up exactly on time (my preferred time of 8 am Sat. morning) and had everything done exactly as quoted. No hidden fees, tack-ons, or other charges and the doors work great.
