Kohler Heating And Air Conditioning

I am really disappointed in Kohler. They installed the Ductless Heat Pump system in my house back in 2011/2012. They were competitively priced and did an outstanding job. I gave them an all A rating. You can read it 3/18/2012. In may of 2018 I needed the fan motor in my outside unit replaced. The technician came out, to the tune of about $150.00, and 15 minutes later said you need a new fan. Ok, I understand, the logic. You don't want to send someone out, tell you the problem, and then not get the business. No issue with that, but then I asked if the cost to look at the unit would be applied to the repair. Answer: "No", but I was stuck now. They received the fan and another 20 min and $643.00 later the unit was fixed. I asked the tech if he can see anything else I might need to be concerned about. "No can do, looking at anything else would be another $150.00 or so. Only came out to fix the fan." While it is all working great, I feel like I just got screwed. The tech was not interested in even talking about other things, at least not without another $150.00. The fix was also ludicrously easy and if you added up the time from both visits it would be less than an hour. Now I need an inside head looked at. The louvers are not swinging. Guess I need to shop around. Very disappointed in Kohler. I really thought they were a better company.

Always punctual and courteous. The system's still running very well. They provide options rather than always recommending the most expensive repair.

They did a good job. ?I had 2 estimates. ?The guy came out and measured the whole house and described options with me. ?It took about a day to make all of the changes. ?They tore the old system out. ?The guy who put the sheet metal together didn't do a very good job. ?He didn't finish insulating the entire ducting all the way to the ceiling. ?I had to go down to Home Depot and finish the job. ?The garage work was not 100%. ?He did a sloppy job and some of the tape came loose. ?I thought the insulation around the sheet metal was poorly done.

They filled the leak with leaking coolant. ?I had to pay for it. ?The warranty was only on the replacement of parts not the labor. ?I never got a copy of the warranty which was another issue. ?It was fine. ?The refused to find the leak. ?They refused to find a cause.

I called them up. ?The heating system was just dead. ?They sent their big guy out and he looked at the installation. He poked around and discovered the compressor was leaking, that the auxiliary heater coils were faulty when they were installed, that the thermostat wasn't connected correctly so the auxiliary heat would never kick on, and that he dryer was too small. ?He saw all these things and was very good about telling me all these things. ?He made a list of stuff and said he had to go over the parts. ?He came back in a couple of days. ?He replaced the compressor and those things are like $3,000. He replaced the auxiliary heater coil with one that was not broken. ?He replaced the thermostat. ?He never talked about price or what my obligations for this repair bill was going to be. ?He never said a word. ?He did all this work in one day. ?He did a beautiful job. ?He was a nice guy. ?The heating system to this day has just worked beautifully. ?I was very, very pleased but they never sent me a bill until last week. ?It was for $1800 which included a $100 late fee. ?So I called them up and talked to the receptionist. ?I told her the story. ?The nice thing about it was they just dumped the bill. ?They said no charge which was nice. ?I had no chance before to discuss fees with them or what parts I would willing to pay for. ?I never got a bill. ?That's a problem. ?You don't wait 5 months and then send a nasty note saying you are overdue. I had no visibility about the labor costs because I assumed it was under warranty. ?It was less than 5 years old. It works now. ?He was very professional. He was very cooperative. ?He was a good communicator, but on the other hand though, as a business person, he failed miserably. ?From a legal and business aspect, it was an absolute failure on his part. ?They waived the fee completely. ?The system has worked perfectly for the last 8 or 9 months.

The first step was to get competitive bids. Their estimator did not upsell and even showed me the economics associated with not upgrading to a 96% efficient furnace. I received a good bid and hired this company over 4 other bids. The installation phase started on time with the HVAC & electricians all showing up at the same time. All permits were obtained by Kohler. The personnel (Randy & Jose) were used to working together so everything went smoothly. I had thought out how I wanted each part of the install to go for esthetic reasons. The Kohler crew were ahead of me and had it laid out perfectly. Last was the clean-up phase which was done very well. I did receive the bill 🙁 when they finished. I had no problem paying for such a good professional job. I see no reason to hire anyone else for HVAC services.

Could not have had a better experience ! And when the new heater was uncreated and found to have been damaged in inter-state shipment, the Kohler team found another one the same day and an expanded crew of 5 came to ensure it got installed that afternoon.

Member Comments: Interactions with everyone at Kohler from the front deck to the installers was timely, professional and friendly. Since I had to work , my daughter meet with Greg for the estimate and he called me at work after he viewed the home to clarify my needs and provide me with options. I very much appreciate that Greg was able to accommodate my working schedule and that he was able to provide an estimate on site. The bid was comparable to others I received so I choose Kohler since they are local and prompt. Greg again worked with my schedule to do a walk-thru with me late in the evening prior to installation. He advised me of any issues that might arise due to the uniqueness of my home ( it is a 1940 bugalow that has an addition with a foundation which the installers had to drill thru), however, there ended up being no problems. The crew showed up on time, worked fast and efficiently, kept me informed throughout the project of what was happening, gave me advise on a plumbing issue they noticed after the furnace was removed and patch work that will be needed. They cleaned up completely and were a delight to work with! I very much appreciated their enthusiasm for their work and a job well done! I have worked with many contractors over the years and I could not have had a better experience with Kohler.

There was unexpected damage at the start of the project, with a water line being punctured within a wall...essentially a chance occurrence but maybe avoidable. There was water damage to drywall, and a plumber required to do repairs. The final repair of the damage done was marginally coordinated, and created some issues with scheduling. The system installed appears to work well. Explanation of new equipment and function was not done fully initially, and required calling back the company to finish description of function and how to best utilize the system.

They arrived on time and were very efficient. It took about a day and a half to complete the job. It has been problem free for the first couple weeks.I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Excellent results. They did a fine job exacty as we wanted. They are not a cheap date but we are well pleased.

Contacted half a dozen contractors for bids. Greg Rich, the Kohler Desigh Specialist, was professional, prompt and very respectful of our home. We negotiated over the price and although their final quote was a bit higher than others we selected Kohler as our choice. Is was important to us to select a local company near our home in Gig Harbor. We had a few issues develop during the initial installation on April 13th, 2012 which finally got resolved yesterday on May 2nd. Some frustration on our part over the amount of time to get the job completed and the lack of follow-up by the company to stay on top of the project. However, in general we are very pleased with the job that Kohler did for us. Mike

WOW is all I can say. The system is unbelievable. Where it was costing me over $300/mo for a cold house, I can now keep the whole house at 70 plus for less. To keep my house this comfortable with my old system would have easily cost $600 +. Was it worth it - Every penny. The crew who came out were very friendly, polite, and thoughtful. The layed down tarps where ever they walked. When cutting holes in the ceiling they used a vacuum to catch the wallboard powder. When they left, there was no sign of their presence other than the installed system. The service and system is A+. I highly recommend their services.

Excellent and efficient service! The problem started with the rotten egg smell at my gas stove. I called Puget Sound Energy who came out and detected that the gas shut off valve to my stove was leaking gas. He shut off the gas to the house which meant no heat (it was snowing outside at the time) and no hot water, but at least it was safe. So I was really pressed to find someone to come out right away to make the repair before the house turned to ice. I checked Angie's List immediately and called Kohler based on the A reports the company had previously received. I spoke to a real live person immediately and she got on the phone with one of the repair men to see if they could make an emergency call. I was given a 45 minute estimated wait time, but they were here in about 20 minutes. Josh and John were very friendly and professional and got the gas leak repaired quickly. I would definitely recommend Kohler to others.

I had several meetings with the Kohler sales rep, who answered the (many) questions I asked, and he provided me with several quotes to consider. My subsequent discussions with co-workers with the same HVAC equipment confirmed all of the claims made by the sales rep. The installers showed up exactly as scheduled, and worked a very long day to get everything installed and tested. They were very courteous, professional and efficient. They also patiently answered the (many) questions I asked during the day, and they stepped through the system programming of the new thermostat. There was a follow-up and quot;commissioningand quot; visit to further test the system and record data required for energy rebates; this fellow arrived on-time, too. Afterward, the air duct sealers arrived as scheduled to measure leakage and seal air runs under the house and in the attic. We required one follow-up visit to address the wiring of the pre-existing electrostatic air scrubber into the furnace controller; it was incorrectly wired into the new system. While there, he repaired a wiring problem with the motorized fresh air damper; this was a pre-existing issue that I asked him to address. He was 1+ hour late for the appointment, which was near the end of the day.

They were thorough and honest. I was glad that they discovered that they discovered that the heat exchangers were cracked and it was still under warranty. I would rate them high overall and would use them again in the future.
