I contacted them based on their ad on Craigslist. They were very nice in the beginning. We emailed back and forth a number of times before moving forward. We were trying to determine what kind of fence I wanted and based on the picture of a fence they had supposedly done in the past I chose to have that style built in my yard. Adrian came out and measured my yard but it took him a week to get me the cost even though he said I would have it within a day. It wasn't until I told them to forget it I would find someone else to do the work that he got me the info. We agreed to have him come to my job and pick up the first half of the payment (in cash of course). He was supposed to come set the posts on Friday and finish on Monday but ended up pushing it out until the next week to set posts. They did the work when I was at work but my family was here and said Adrian was very rude to his crew which was upsetting because I do not want to work with people like that. The day they finished the fence I came home from work and I was very disappointed with the work done. Adrian had said he would contact me to set a time to look over it and collect the balance of the payment. I didn't hear from him until Saturday I believe. He wanted to come that day so I agreed to meet him at my house. I asked him why there were gaps and he said that the fence was built with no gaps but the boards spread on their own. I asked why the fence was not level and he said because they were trying to match the neighbors crappy uneven fence (seriously?!?!?! why would you want to match someone else's crappy work?). I asked him why each section had a board that was smaller than the rest and he said that no section was exact so they have to split a board to make it fit to close off the gap. We went through and pointed out many boards that were split and needed replaced. We also talked about the huge gap in my gate and I told him that I have a dog and kids so I need that to be closed off. There were a number of other problems such as my gate going down a hill instead of on flat surface, the post caps on many of my posts are not even the same color and there are huge gaps between the boards, the boards are all bowing in and out, the posts have cement quite a way up the post, the fence is not level and has huge space under the fence where my dog and baby could try to get through, and many of the horizontal boards don't even match up evenly with the posts. Adrian promised to come back and fix the problems on Monday morning and asked that I go ahead and pay the balance anyway. Given that I trusted he would come fix it I went ahead and paid because I don't have much experience with this type of thing. Monday came and he never showed up so later that week I emailed the company and when I finally heard back (days or a week later) he said he would be out and again never showed up. At this point I left two voice-mails and numerous emails and heard nothing back from them.
Description of Work: Built a fence around my very small back yard.

Response from allstar fence and deck INC
Allstar Fence & Deck informed customer that this time of year is very busy and we are apprx 2 weeks booked out from date you sign contract and give 1/2 down for contracted price. We met with her at 6:30pm (after she got off work) and sent her a revised estimate the following day and left a message for her letting her know we emailed her estimate. We did not hear back from her until the following week when we tried calling again to make sure she received our estimate. She told us she apologizes and was out of town. She was very adamant about getting her fence installed and we made special accommodations to work her install into our schedule asap and once contract was signed and 1/2 down was collected we would get her job installed. She said she understood. We made special arrangements to work her into our booked schedule. We do not like to pressure, sell, or bother our customers and felt that she would contact us when she was ready to proceed. However, with all of the persistent emails and urgency to install fence we felt we should follow up with her before we change our install schedule. We did not hear from her until the following week until we contacted her again and she said she is ready to proceed but needs to go bank. We met with her, signed contract, and collected 1/2 down for her job and she expected to start next morning. We agreed and set all of her posts very next morning (Less than 24hrs) We then installed fence after fence posts dried and her job was completely finished 2 days later. We did not hear back from her until the following week when we called her to collect the final amount. She said sure after she goes to bank and after she gets off work. We met with her and collected the final amount due that same evening appx 7pm. (final payment is due upon completion and satisfaction of job). We never had any conflict with family (her mother). Her family asked for us to set boards to side and pile up. We had no conflict and kindly piled up boards per her family request. We explained prior to contract being signed that the ground is not level and when we install her fence and gate we will follow the ground contour. Customer said she understood and showed us where she wanted her gate and that is where we installed gate. The gate was built level but the ground where gate was installed was on a slope. We installed her fence and gate exactly where she wanted it knowing ahead of time there would be gaps because of her ground contour. She signed our contract which specifies "our company is not responsible for damage from excessive winds. And cannot guarantee wood products from splitting, warping, twisting or contracting." We modified customers estimate numerous times (per customer request) to get customer the best price. We set posts less than 24 hours after contract was signed. We finished install 48 hours later. This time of year is extremely busy and as stated before, we are booked out apprx 2 weeks. We lowered our price extensively, catered to her and her family, and completed her job in a more than timely manner to please her. We went above and beyond for her and feel as though she was trying to take advantage and get something for free. Every Conversation we've had with her from emails, telephone and in person...from beginning to end has been very pleasant in which she was very happy and satisfied. We don't understand her intentions.
