The office staff at Bellingham eye Physicians is exceptional. Staff is courteous, friendly and welcoming...top notch! My eye exam didn't fare as well. I feel Dr. Ford hurried the exam. I do not think he obtained the correct previous prescription off my glass as a reference point. During the refraction exam, he hurried the lens strength choices and I was not given the chance to select the best, clearest lens power for my best vision. I didn't think we were finished with lens power choices and all of a sudden, we were. Even when I could have chosen a more powerful, clearer lens. Yes, I should have stopped, said something and made sure my vision was the best it could be but I did not...he was the doctor...my lesson learned. Kristy at the optical shop noticed right away that there might be problems after looking at my new prescription. I selected new frames and waited for the new lenses. After receiving the new glasses, I tried for three days to get used to the new lenses. I could not wear them and see clearly. Back to the office I went for a new refraction test...at no charge. Dr. Ford tried to tell me that my blood sugars must have been in a wild swing during the first appointment. However my blood sugars have been steady and stable for many years now. I made sure that this time I did not leave the exam room until I was positive the new prescription was better and clearer than before. My previous prescription had my vision at one time down to 20/15 vision. Dr. Ford's prescription got me to 20/20 which for all the hassle of these two appointments was good enough. I've been to many an eye exam and I feel this was one of the least thorough exams I've ever experienced, especially for an ophthalmologist. These were the first lenses that I could not wear and had to return in the 50 years that I've worn glasses.
Description of Work: Having recently moved to the area and now due for another yearly eye exam, I contacted Bellingham Eye Physicians where Dr. Ford is one of the doctors. He was available in just a couple of days so I made an appointment. Due to the fact that I have Type II diabetes, I'm picky about my eyes and like to see an ophthalmologist whenever possible.

He was amazing. When he did the first surgery, he didn’t want to go too far with the surgery and have it not closed, so he went gradual until my husband had to have a second surgery about a month later and this one is perfect; so we are very happy with him. The second surgery wasn’t because he screwed up on the first one; he just wanted to be careful. He did two follow-ups at no cost; it was all part of a deal and we are his patients now. He explained everything, and he made sure the treatment worked. They shuffled patients around to get my husband in for the second surgery because it was very important. We love the staff and the office environment.
Description of Work: My husband developed a disease that was affecting his eyes; they were both closing and he didn’t have any control on it. So he used Dr. Ford, an ophthalmologist. The last time my husband saw him he had his second surgery.
