Mr. Handyman of SE Bellevue

We are prepping to paint the exterior of the house. There were a few pieces of cedar trim that needed to be replaced or repaired before painting, including about 12 feet of 2 X 6 trim around the top of the chimney framing, about 25 feet up. This trim was tucked under the edge of a sheet metal wind baffle. It was a difficult job because it was a tight area to get a ladder into, it was very high up, and tucked under the edge of that dang baffle. It seemed to present no problem for Mr. Handyman, however. He removed the old rotten stuff, cut the new boards to size, and neatly tucked them under the sheet metal baffle, all inside of about 2.5 hours while standing on a ladder 25 feet up. It looks great and he charged a very fair price. And I didn't have to risk life and limb trying to do it myself. This was considered a small job by several regular contractor-types we contacted, which they promptly declined (one quite rudely). We contacted Mr. Handyman through Angie's List and they responded to our proposal immediately and affirmatively--with no doubt whatsoever that they could and would do the job for us. We appreciated that very much. They also told us in advance that we could save money by buying the materials and priming and painting them in advance. We did that, and we appreciated that, too.

Estimator came, went around the house to a**** work that needed to be done and promised to get back to me by Tuesday the next week (that was a Saturday). I never heard back and never received any estimate.

The handyman wrapped some pipes in the crawlspace that had torn and had insulation hanging out. He did a very good job on this task.

Ed was the service person. He was punctual, polite and did a good job.

They were good. I've had various things done. I've had some floor wood put in and they did a very good job. They did everything I asked them to do. They have several guys working for them. In another time, I was pleased with their work but I can't remember what he did, it could've been outside work. They do a good job and I thought their prices are fair. The owner is a good person to deal with. They're on time and done right.

The main thing I wanted done was to fix a structural post with some rot that had been noticed by the inspector when we bought the house some years ago, which I had not gotten to until we were getting ready to sell it. I sent some pictures and the person I talked to (after some trouble with the transmission) said they could fix it. We actually had the house on the market by the time they could come when they said, no they wouldn't attempt to fix it for fear of liability issues. They fixed a couple of other things which the inspector noticed, but also were not able to fix a floating ground issue and a leak in a jetted tub. The tub issue was fixed in 5 minutes by a spa person, but relatively expensively. After the handyman installed an outside vent to the upstairs bathroom through the attic, the hall light tripped the breaker when turned on. The next day, electricians found that the handyman had stepped on the recessed lighting can and shorted out some wires there, causing the problem with the breaker. To their credit, the handyman's company reimbursed us immediately for the electrician's time. All in all, a mixed and expensive experience. The worker, it should be said, was very personable.

It went great. In addition to the work outlined above, Kevin painted behind the toilet and vanity as the new floor was lower than the former one and unpainted areas would have shown. He also leveled the floor under the toilet. It appears he has done very good work.

I did not use them for a service. I did get quoted on a services and would use them. The office staff was very helpful and professional

We last used his service about 10 months ago.I think it went very well, he was careful with the spraying and he made sure that it didn't get on the plants whatsoever.

The guy who came out was good. The guy was very professional and did a great job.

They had to order four doors before they got one the right size. They didn't charge for the wrong doors but they charge a huge minimum per visit so the total cost was unreasonably high,

Service was performed in a timely and neat manner. No complaints!

Note: We were referred to Mr. Handyman of Bellevue, since we were not in the service area for SE Bellevue. I have used Mr. Handyman twice and will not hesitate to do so again when we have a need. The service provider they sent was on-time, courteous and very well suited to skillfully complete a variety of household repairs. In both cases, he completed the repairs in the agreed upon timeframe. I think Mr. Handyman is a terrific solution when you have a multiple projects that don't require a specialist, but do require a skillful and experienced hand.

They did not charge me. I had explained the problem in detail, but they did not understand, I guess.

We asked Mr. Handyman to come out and provide a quote for a basement project we were working on. Brian arrived and we asked that he provide an estimate to drywall over our existing light boxes and install recessed lights in their place as well as patch drywall around a wall we removed. During the quote we talked through some different options for the work. The following day, Brian emailed with a ?time and materials? quote that we were happy with so we hired Mr. Handyman to do the work. The night the work was supposed to begin we realized there was a math mistake in the quote and the number of hours he told us the job would take and their hourly rate didn?t match the quote total, and didn?t include any money for materials (we had asked that they not include material costs, but it stated clearly at the top of the invoice that it did include materials). We emailed Brian and pointed this out. The morning they started working, we found out that the quote was increased from approx. $850 to $1000 due to their error and did not include any materials. That morning we also discovered that the quote they provided did not include the drywall patching and only covered the light replacements. We let them start working, which in hindsight, we should not have. Brian, our techinician, arrived on time at 8 am and left shortly thereafter to go to Home Depot to buy materials. He didn?t return until 9:45. After speaking with Brian and the technician they agreed to provide an updated estimate. By about 5:30, we had not received an updated estimate, only a bill for the day?s work which was approx. $1100. The bill included 9 hours of labor and materials which were marked up 25% - so we paid for his time at Home Depot and a huge mark up fee. Considering that we had already purchased all of the materials needed for the light fixtures, he was only picking up drywalling supplies, we were surprised this trip took 1.5 hours. Having completely overshot our budget on half of the project, we asked Brian and the technician to come in for a check-in before any more work continued. We proposed several options to move forward: 1. Stop working now and we?ll pay them $1100 for the work they did the day before. We would find someone else to finish the project. 2. Finish the entire project for $1500. Almost double what we had initially thought this would cost. 3. Finish what they could on Friday for $1500, and we would find someone else to finish the project. Brian and our technician Brad, agreed to contact their manager to determine their course of action. We made it clear we were unsatisfied with their progress, the vague estimate, and their lack of communication with us on the price increases. They chose to leave the project unfinished, with still several hours of work left and charge us $1566 total (that is apparently with a 10% discount, according to their general manager). We tried to be as clear and fair as possible with them and did not feel that they even attempted to meet us part way. We were able to speak further with the general manager and he sent someone out to do a little more work free of charge, but we will still have to hire someone to finish the work completely.

It was excellent. Bob came over the day after we called him, provided us an estimate, and the work was started the day after that. Their availability is incredible, especially considering the scale of our job. Our technician was Brad and he is one of the best contractors I have ever worked with. They even worked around the holidays to help knock out our job, which we greatly appreciated.

First and foremost, they arrive on time. They are very respectful and tidy. They stay on task, ask questions about preferences. They are very good and know how to fix just about everything.

Responded quickly to our request and provided a timely bid. Gentleman came out and really took great care in ensuring the work was done right. Very pleased overall.

I did not go with them but they were fine. I just did not go with them because they do everything and I preferred to go with someone who actually specializes in windows to do the work for me.

We found this company through Angies List and the favorable reviews are the reason we selected them - and we were not disappointed. Excellent, high quality work and a commitment to make sure we were satisfied with the results. This included repainting an entire wall that had some "bleed through" due to covering a dark paint. We would definitely hire them again. Their price is higher than some of the other estimates we received, but as we have seen, you do get what you pay for and there was no hassle or dispute about things that needed to be done.

I had several small "honey-do" type projects and called them for an estimate. Their quote seemed very reasonable and I set up an appointment. The technician arrived right on time and went immediately to work. He was professional, helpful and completed the work in a very timely manner. He was also able to accommodate my request to add 2 small jobs. I felt like the service I received for the price I paid was very fair and I will definitely be using them again. Also, the woman who scheduled my appt called afterwords to see if all had gone okay. I really appreciated their customer service oriented attitude.

Overcharged for a fairly routine job of placing protective screens; additionally, they were not able to finish the job!

Done in 2 days, very clean and very precise. Put all plumbing back in the wall and completely covered with drywall. Offered to come back after tiling to complete toilet install. Over and above and beautiful work.

They did great! I definitely recommend them. It's the second time that they've come out and they're really good. They just do what they're supposed to do and give you a fair price and no-nonsense. I really like them. There were no problems. I would just say it was excellent all round. They understand what they need to do and they do it. That's just really good!
