Great Job Moving and Storage

It was good. They did a really good job making it all fit. They were very upfront. Even though I didn't incur any additional charges, they went over the pricing and all the stuff that I could get, if I wanted. They did a really good job of explaining everything before they even started. There was nothing broken or damaged. They did a really good job.

It went great. Got G & J Moving from Angie's List. Contacted them via E-mail and received an e-mail back within a day. Called and explained that I was not moving but I needed some help moving large furniture to different floors in my three story home. They sent me their Moving Estimation Form and I filled it out and sent it back to G&J. The moving estimation form helped me determine how many pieces of furniture I needed to move. Two very strong gentlemen arrived on the agreed date on time. They very quickly looked at which furniture I needed moved and where I needed it to go. They moved everything very quickly and efficiently. Did not damage any of my furniture or my walls. These guys were very strong. I am going to be moving within the next 6 months and I will be calling G&J to move me.

The guys showed up early. While one was explaining how everything worked and was going over the paperwork the other was wrapping up the antiques for the move. The guys were great and would use them again.

Very hard workers; no breaks until the job was done. About 5.5 hours.

The service was fine. They were efficient and extremely hardworking. The work and the interaction with them was fine. It was a big deal purchase. I spent an additional $200.

The movers were in and out within one hour. Overall G&L was professional, prompt, and everyone I interacted with was quite nice. Months later when I requested a receipt to send my company, again they responded immediately and were incredibly helpful. Thanks again!

The movers were on-time, professional and extremely quick; they did not take breaks and they did not linger or otherwise waste time. Overall, a very positive experience, especially given the Big Deal. The reason that the price is rated only "Good" and not "Excellent" (especially considering the Big Deal) is because the movers tacked on extra cost for wrapping/packing the furniture and electronics equipment - while this was discussed up-front at the time of the move, I believe it would have been more fair to discuss these options with associated costs when I made the move reservation in the first place; after all, I had given the company details on what was being moved (large TV, one sofa couch, one sofa chair).

They worked fast in a very professional manner. A friend of my daughter will use them in the near future to help her move from her house in DC. I recommend to keep them on Angie's List.

Moved a one end bedroom from Fairfax to Arlington. Stayed within time, very smooth, will use again.

My experience went very well. The staff was professional and knowledgeable in their field. They took great care of my things and everything came out okay. The pricing was reasonable and I would recommend this company to others.

When scheduling, the movers kept trying to up-sell to a larger truck (which we didn't think we needed). Eventually caved into the up-sell, and then were told they only had the original size. The day of move, they were late and held up due to mechanical issues with the vehicle. Once they showed up, the workers got right to work and were efficient in the move. The truck was packed, and then they went over to the new property to unload. Unloading / move-in was also fairly efficient. Challenges and Issues: 1. We were supposed to receive 15% off of the supplies they used, based on the Angie's list coupon / contract. We did not receive. 2. The workers were such heavy smokers that the new condo smelled like stale smoke for a good day or so after they left. 3. [MAJOR ISSUE]. They somehow managed to break the box spring of a 3 year old Heavenly Bed. The value of the box spring was approximately $700. When I contacted them about it (and sent pictures), they offered an insurance claim based on weight so it amounted to ~$48, -or- to have it repaired. If repaired, it would result in the box spring fabric being torn / removed, and not replaced, and the box spring being gone for an estimated 10 days. I pushed on the value of the item and to no avail. Then, the company "went silent" and I haven't heard from them. Overall, extremely disappointed and displeased with the company's approach to service quality, and to honor discounts, merchandise value, etc. I would not recommend, and will not use again.

G&J movers moved us from one home to another on one day (including packing us up) and then moved two storage units across the DC metro area into the new home the following day. Both moves went smoothly, were on time, were well detailed in both expectations and results, and handled by a courteous and efficient staff. I highly recommend them for their service and price.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. My husband coordinated it, but I think it was fine. I know everything got moved so it was good. We went over the time of the Big Deal so I think it cost about an extra $100.

The movers were professional and courteous and handled all our belongings with care. They were very very fast which was great especially since anything over the 3 hour coupon I purchased would have cost me an additional hourly rate, but they didn't go slowly to make more money and they were able to move us from a third floor apartment into a house also with several floors in about 3 1/2 hours! Highly recommended.

The move exceeded all expectations. The weather was freezing rain, but you could not tell it from the way the move went. I recently retired from the military and have moved my family more than 14 times in 24 years, none of those moves had a more professional a moves or skilled crew. I still can't believe the pace at which the 3 person crew executed the move. Given that the charges were accrued by the hour and the weather conditions, this was particulary remarkable. The move was one third the cost of the fixed cost bid that we received from another company. If you want a no-nonsense, professional mover, I would strongly recommend you consider G&J Moving.

I had a very positive experience with G&J Moving. The night/early morning of my move there was significant snowfall. I was concerned my move would have to be rescheduled as a result. That was not the case at all. Three movers showed up and proceeded with my move. They took the time to wrap my items carefully and strap all items into their truck. There are several steps that lead down to my apartment. The steps were covered with snow and ice, but this did not deter the movers. They found a broom and cleared off the snow, and carefully worked around the ice. These guys were professional, efficient, and most of all had a fantastic sense of humor. There were a few obstacles with this move in addition to the weather, but they never complained nor seemed the least bit frustrated. In order to get my treadmill out they had to partially disassemble it. Once in my new place they made sure it was reassembled properly and working before leaving. It was also difficult to get my very large armoire out. In the process they scrapped some paint off my rail. Instead of pretending it didn't happen, one of the movers pointed it out to me. I understood and appreciated his honesty. They arranged all items where I requested once in my apartment and before leaving made sure I didn't have anything that I wanted moved elsewhere. This was my first time using movers; therefore, I was not aware that some items were extra (tape to secure covering they used to ensure furniture didn't sustain damage and plastic covering for mattress/box spring), but they explained this upon arrival. All in all I would definitely use them again.

The crew was very punctual. The move went quicker than I anticipated since I was moving from a 2 floor apartment on the 3 and 4 to a 3 level townhouse. The only problem I had with the crew as that the leg on my new nightstand was cracked. The crew used wood glue to correct the problem and since it was a small crack on the back leg of the nightstand I wasn't that upset. Overall Good service!

Arrived within the scheduled appointment window. Used special rug so as not to soil floors/carpets. Worked very quickly. I had moved 5 times over the years, using professional movers, prior to this move and these 2 guys were much more careful with the furniture than the staff of the big name companies like Allied and United. They loaded our heaviest and bulkiest furniture into a 16ft PODS container and were able to use only about 1/3 of the available space so that we were able to use the remaining 2/3s for our remaining belongings. we appreciate their efforts and highly recommend them... and we'd use them again.

Service and cost were great. Some of the best and hardest working movers I've seen. Used the coupon for "$359 for a 16 ft. Moving Truck and a Three Man Crew for Three Hours". We scheduled a starting time window on initial call and then they gave an estimated time of arrival in the morning on the day of the move. Because of traffic we went beyond the three hours for which they charged a partial hour. Overall, I would recommend.

2 movers, very professional, very strong, quick, polite and efficient. Very conscientious and careful to pad/wrap furniture and made sure to specify additional cost for tape etc (which had been outlined in the contract when I hired them so no surprises.) They pointed out if concerns with boxes - for instance, I had put a bunch of liquor bottles in a cardboard box without much padding, and they were worried about fragility. We got the move done well within the timeline- in fact, early. Nothing was broken or damaged. Very pleased with the move.

We had G&J out to our townhouse on Friday, December 27th to go over some details regarding an upcoming move. The gentleman that came out was on time and seemed very nice. We asked him to write up two different estimates, one with packing services and one with only moving services. We were told that he would get back to us on Monday the 30th with the estimates. We never heard back. My husband and I thought about calling to follow-up but after thinking about it, there are plenty of other companies that were more than happy to be attentive to our requests and show interest in our needs. Too bad G&J...you lost a potential customer.

Crew was terrific - on time, fast, and careful with several fragile items.

G&J were very responsive about my initial inquiry and need to move my things fairly promptly. I bought an Angie's List Deal for 3 movers for 3 hours and a 16 foot truck. Prior to the move they called me and asked if I wanted to upgrade to a bigger truck for $100 additional bucks and I said yes. On the day of the move, they called and said a bigger truck wasn't available. Oh, well. My fault on that since I hadn't originally made that request. Three movers showed up on time and I showed them around the house to the things I needed moved. There was no packing of boxes involved. Just wrapping furniture in quilts. Max was the lead and he had me sign paperwork and went over the additional charges of $3/roll of tape and $50/additional half hour. There was also a 4% charge for credit card use. I didn't and dont feel comfortable about slapping my credit card number on a piece of paper. Max didn't know if the office at least shredded the paperwork or not. Recommend they get a credit card machine like most other vendors. The move itself went fine. All three movers kept a very steady pace and it took two truck loads and a little extra time to move everything. I had a couple of back killer items and they handled them with ease. It's a move and some damage is to be expected. I did find a small hole in my stairway and a broken piece of plastic from my patio door where they disassembled it to bring in a desk. They also left a big ball of the used wrapping tape and all their empty beverage bottles and an empty cigarette box in my garage on the floor. Having been through countless moves, this was a good experience.
