They showed up and gave me an estimate. They gave me $100 off for having the project done right away. Their prices were pretty competitive with the other estimates that I had received. They showed up on time for the appointment and did the job. They made sure to clean up after themselves when they were done.

Jeff and his team are first class and I would recommend their masonry work to anyone (and already have). Our flagstone walkway and porch are beautiful, and we have received many compliments from our neighbors and those passing by. Price: Jeff's price beat those of three other masons highly listed on Angie's List; when I called, Jeff promptly responded, came out and gave me an estimate, and followed up; his price for the work was significantly less -- with no sacrifice in quality -- than the others that gave us estimates. Quality: Jeff used high quality stones from Pennsylvania that were two inches thick; many flagstone projects use the thin stones that you can buy at Home Depot/Lowes, which are not nearly as nice and don't have the coloration; their mason work was first class -- from the prep, to the concrete work, to the finish; excellent work. People: the quality of the people starts with Jeff, the owner, who is responsive, knowledgeable, and experienced; his masonry team was efficient and clean and got the job done on time; Jeff and his team are people you can trust. They exceeded our expectations.

The price was a bit high. The stone walkway was only about 7 feet long and about 4.5 feet wide and it only took them one day to build it. I was told it would be flush with the driveway, but when finished it was about 2 inches higher than the driveway. They came back the next day and added asphalt to the driveway next to the walkway to make it flush. However, I believe it would look better and need no maintenance if it had been built flush with the driveway as originally stated.

The two workers showed up early in the morning and were finished by late in the afternoon. They did a great job and we would gladly have them back to do other work. The new walkway looks great and we definitely got our money's worth. The estimate was much lower than others. They were able to come out and do the work just a day after we accepted the estimate.

Overall, it went very well. They seamlessly began and finished from the pouring of the cement base to the setting of the flagstones in an artful and skillful manner. The only problem I had was a drainage issue on the side of a garden bed. But we finally got it resolved to my satisfaction. I appreciated that Jeff stayed with it until it got fixed.

The guy came and started work, gave brochure, told us about Angie's List, The worker came and started working, only one worker spoke English. It took longer than anticipated, did not follow up with work, kept putting us off , the job was incomplete. We called company and complained and also came and clean up concrete left on flagstone. The most horrible job that we have ever seen. The company had a guarantee on website but was told they can't guarantee.

Jeff was one of three masonry companies I received bids from for the repair of a brick shed. His estimate was right in line with the others but because of the glowing reviews I read here, I hired him. We agreed on a day for the work to be done. He told me I did not need to be present. When I got home that evening, no work had been done and no note or phone call to me to explain why not (he had my contact numbers). I left a message on his cell phone to find out what happened. I didn't hear back from him until mid morning the next day to tell me that they had indeed shown up and that his masons said it couldn't be done for the price he estimated. Whatever. I asked him why he didn't call me as soon as there was a problem (which seemed like a no-brainer to me) and he said he was "afraid to call me". Bad customer service. I ended up having the work done by Masonry Specialists who were able to use each and every brick that had been shifted and did a beautiful job.

Overall, well. The estimate was fair compared to others, and the work was done soon after we requested it be accomplished. The work was done well. The workers did fail to caulk along a door as agreed - not a major issue, however.

The work was great. I still needed them to come out and finish the last part of the clean-up, but then something odd happened. I had paid by check, and I received a frantic call from the bank saying that they had cashed the check for much more than I wrote it for. The company has since been unable to be contacted, and they have not finished with the rest of my clean-up. The work they did was great, but it seems that there are some issues since the bank paid them too much money.

Jeff Mottern, the owner, and I connected after playing a bit of telephone tag. I appreciated that he kept trying to get me. Some companies don't even bother to return calls. Jeff came out on a Friday, and gave me what I felt was a good price for the job. He said that he could do the work on the following Monday, and I called him back later that day to give him the go-ahead. He changed it to Tuesday, but that was no problem. The crew showed up on time Tuesday morning. Since Jeff was not there, I went over the details of the project. There were 3 guys and they were very polite and professional. After our little briefing, I left for work. When I came home, I was very pleased with the brickwork (excellent color match with the bricks on my 44 year old house). The wall looked brand new. Excellent work. The railing had not been reinstalled, though. I called Jeff and his guys came out Thursday (PM) and had it installed more solid than ever, within a short time.

Free estimate; good price. They started the work quickly; added some additional projects which increased the original cost. Very professional crew and they cleaned up all the debris.

Jeff Mottern is extremely pleasant, professional and courteous. He arrived on time to give an estimate and understood immediately what I wanted. When we discovered he would be unable to do this job, Jeff called me with the name of another company who would be able to do so. The company Jeff recommended is another company, and I'll be happy to submit a report for them when project is complete. Kudos to Jeff Mottern! I don't know many contractors who would take the time to locate another company like he did. Jeff has won my loyalty, and I'd be happy to call on him for another job.

It was great. They offer a free estimate. They were very prompt and flexible to schedule an estimate time that worked for me. With my busy work schedule, it's often hard to find contractors who can come in the evenings or over the weekends. However, Jeff was willing to work with me to set up a convenient time and he wound up meeting me on a Saturday morning. He was punctual, professional, and informative. He provided a photo album with examples of other jobs his company had completed; this photo album included before, during the job, and after the job photos. The photos that were taken in the middle of the jobs were really helpful because they showed how the bricks would look before they were cleaned and what I could expect. His employees were knowledgeable, respectful, and did excellent work! They quickly repaired my problem and it looks wonderful. I am planning to have them back to install a stone patio for me in the spring. I would recommend Mottern Masonry to everyone!
