They were good and I was happy with them. Jeff was very good. He explained everything. He came out and gave me the estimate and we talked about the time it could be done. He recommended some guys to finish a pergola we put up. The guys worked very well. They lifted the air conditioner and worked around it. They did all the prep work in a couple of days. They cleaned up all their mess. They did the whole thing within 3-4 days. It went very smoothly. The patio looks great and they like it so I don't have any complaints. The guys were very pleasant and they answered any questions I had. They were here when they said they would be. They were very professional.

Jeff was very professional through the entire project. He arrived on time to provide the estimate. He offered several suggestions and improved the final design. His crew was prompt, clean and did a quality job. I would recommend them to anyone and would use them again myself.

They were great. We too had a job that seemed to small for many to even respond to or do for less than what seemed unreasonable for what we needed. Jeff came out the same day we called and provided a couple of estimates, all very reasonable for the services provided. The job was scheduled and done within the month! This company is the real deal....the owner consulted with us in person,helping us select brick and style off stone that would accent the house. His suggestions were spot on...his portfolio of work was very impressive. The project delayed a bit as my wife and I couldn't make up our minds on color of the brick and stone pattern. They were very patient and scheduled several more visits until we were all in agreement on the scope of work and the design and color of the material. The final result was worth the wait....

This job was too small for many concrete contractors and too big for a handyman, so getting bids was difficult. Mottern Masonry looked at the job and called me with a bid that was significantly lower than others. I had questions about what they were proposing to do, so we talked about their bid on the phone. Jeff came back for another look and made suggestions that were great improvements over what I originally asked him to do, (he proposed to relpace part of the front walk with one that sloped up to the stoop so that the step up on the stoop was smaller and safer, for a price increase of $100.00). The job was scheduled for a Friday.The cement truck had a last minute problem and could not deliver as planned. They did the job the following day, a Saturday. The results look great. The house entry is solid and safer. Working with Jeff was hassel free. The communication was excellent. The price was the lowest I could find.

Mottern Masonry Design lives up to the saying in its brochure "There is no substitute for excellence" as the quality of the work was excellent. After the initial visit, Jeff sent me different options for the replacement of the stoop, walkway and driveway by e-mail. Jeff was prompt on answering any questions I had. I contracted to do my project in December. Jeff had a project pushed back a week and offered to do mine in September. They had to take out the stoop, walkway and driveway. Then reinstall all new brick stoop and walkway on a concrete base. The driveway was enlarged and a 6' by 6' area for trash cans was done in concrete. I have a 50 year old home and the brick is no longer made. Jeff made a great match and the stoop and walkway match the house and are beautiful. They also did a small repair on the chimney. The workers were highly skilled craftsmen and very professional. Because of the death of the father of one of the workers the week was cut down to three days. They were still able to complete the job by working long days, except for cleanup which was done the next week. I am very pleased with all the work they did and would highly recommend Mottern Masonry Design.

Mottern masonry is a great company - simply superb! The owner was very prompt in providing an estimate, the price was very fair, and the quality of the work was outstanding! Mottern completely replaced a 40ft long flagstone sidewalk leading to our front door with new 4" thick flagstone and portland cement. This involved removing the old deteriorated flagstone, patching the cement foundation, leveling and filling where it had settled over the last 50 years, and then fitting, cutting and placing new flagstone in mortar. The result is a beautiful sidewalk - the craftsmanship shown in the masonry is very evident - almost too pretty to walk on! The 20'x30' flagstone patio was deteriorated as well - but not as bad as the sidewalk, so the crew removed the flagstones, cleaned and leveled the cement foundation, and then reset the old flagstones in fresh mortar. The results are also superb - looks brand new! The crew cleaned up the job site thoroughly, completed the project on time, and ensured we were completely pleased with the result before departing. In summary, Mottern Masonry has my strongest possible recommendation - they are outstanding!

It went well even when we discovered the chimney was in worst shape than was thought. they found a way to solve the problem without increasing the price. Honest estimates and follow through with high quality work. the Best!

The owner came in while I was at work during the day to evaluate the repairs needed. We spoke on the phone afterwards and he gave me an estimate. We agreed on a date for the work to be done. Mottern's crew showed up as planned, did the work, cleaned up and left. It was flawless, efficient, and DONE. Just the way I like it!

Work crew arrive on 15 August and broke up and completely removed old concrete and red brick decretive edge. They installed the necessary forms and poured all of the concrete and finished it with a slip resistant surface. The crew left the work area each day in a very clean and neat manner. Back patio door transom was repaired with a #4 rebar insert and patched.

Jeff personally did the site visit, brought a book of design ideas, helped us determine which design would be best, and provided the estimate. His workmen arrived when promised, worked steadily and finished on time. All of the work was excellent and the front of our house looks so much better. Jeff is pleasant and easy to work with. I recommend his company.

They showed up on time on the appointed day and did a superb job of removing and replacing the pavers and brickwork so that it no longer leaked through into the garage. They cleaned up after themselves. The only miscommunication occurred when the crew left without repacking the seams between the pavers. When I asked, Jeff told me that they needed to let things set first and that they weren't finished. The crew returned as scheduled and completed the job to standard.

It went very well, Mr. Mottern came out to give us an estimate. He gave us one price and a discounted price if we accepted in the next two weeks and if we would let him work the date into his schedule. Since we did not have to be home for the work to be done, this was fine with us. He showed us that the bricks actually extended past the cement base of the walkway and that was a big reason that the border bricks had come loose. Sure enough, one day we got a call that his workers would be there the next day. One man showed up early in the morning, power washed the entire walkway and took out all mortar in areas that needed to be redone. In the afternoon another man showed up and together the re-mortaring began. We were told that they would be back the next week to seal the walkway. All of the work was completed and the walkway looks brand new!! We couldn't be more pleased!! As a matter of fact, they extended the cement base so that the edge bricks won't fall away again. Thank you very much!

Jeff responded quickly to our request for an estimate and made good suggestions for improving the job. We had gotten several estimates and chose Mottern Masonry Design. The 2-man crew arrived promptly on the scheduled day of work (we were advised of plan B if it rained). They finished the work in one day and followed up a couple of days later with a thorough cleaning after the mortar had dried sufficiently. We are very happy with the results and would certainly recommend them/use them again.

Delayed by half a day because of rain, otherwise all on time. The 2 workers were very skilled stone masons. They worked efficiently and diligently over the course of 3 days. The outcome is stunning. Several neighbors stopped by to watch the progress and made note of the company name and phone number. We have already scheduled them to do another job for us on Nov.

From the initial contact with Jeff for an estimate, to the finished product, we were very happy with the level of professionalism shown by this company. We felt all of our questions were addressed prior to the work beginning. Jeff is rapid fire with email responses! The workers were prompt and extremely efficient. They listened carefully to my concerns and told me exactly what they would do. We had several picky details that the team had to take into account and they did so beautifully. For example, we wanted a variety of colors and textures for the flagstone patio. They picked out the perfect combination of stones and they look wonderful all together. We also have two areas where the bricks needed to meet an existing asphalt driveway. In one area they put in a smooth patch of concrete to keep things level. In the other area they were able to slightly incline the bricks to make a seamless transition from asphalt to brick area. Amazing! The high level of skill and craftsmanship is very evident. Our yard was completely cleaned and cleared of debris at the end of the work. We feel confident that we went with a great company for this job!

I was very pleased with this company. Jeff, the owner came promptly to give me an estimate. He actually advised against doing one project I was contemplating since he thought the cost would outweigh the benefits! They were not able to start on time but came the next day. The workers were polite and professional and obviously took pride in their work. A very positive experience.

They did a terrific job! We called them because the chimney was leaking water very badly. They came out promptly, and correctly diagnosted the problem. The repairs were performed quickly, and the problem was solved. We liked them so much that we had them put in a Flagstone patio. We were very picky about the colors we wanted, as we did not want to end up with a mostly grey or blue patio. We wanted a full range of colors. Jeff and his team listened carefully and did a wonderful job picking out and placing the stones, so that we now have a beautiful full color Flagstone patio. It is gorgeous! We had a very very good experience with Mottern Masonry, and we would highly recommend them.

I emailed Jeff, the owner, to ask him to give me an estimate on repointing a brick sidewalk that is 29 yrs old. His initial response was that it needed to be replaced, not repaired, due to its age. He asked me to email some pictures, which I did. When he saw the sidewalk, he said he felt it could probably be repaired and would come to look at it in person. It became clear to me that what he wanted us to do was replace the sidewalk. He did quote a price for both the repointing and the replacement, but I felt he was stressing replacement. Given its age, we were concerned about getting brick to match the few places where bricks needed replacement. So Jeff dropped off a couple bricks that were close in color, but not close enough for my husband. So Jeff suggested we go to Glen Gery brick in Manassas to check out their selection ourselves. He assured me they were open on Saturday. Well, they weren't. I was foolish not to check myself before driving the 60 miles. Needless to say, we weren't pleased, but told Jeff we would be back in touch with our decision as to how to proceed. Indeed, on Monday, my husband called Jeff to tell him we would just go ahead with the repointing, not the replacement. We have never heard back from Jeff. While Jeff is a nice person, his business practices are not to my taste. When he gave me the original estimate, he told me he'd give me a discount if I contracted with him by the end of the week because he "had a cancellation" and wanted to fill the space and keep his guys busy. If I had a nickel for every contractor in this area who has said the same thing, I'd be a wealthy person. Second of all, if he didn't want the repair job, all he needed to do was tell us. Instead, we felt "pushed" toward a total redo (almost $6000). Sorry, I just don't think I'll ever do business with Mottern Masonry again.

They were great. He came by within a few days to give me an estimate. He did a great job matching the brick color, curvature, and pattern. I would highly recommend them.

From start to finish this was perfect. Jeff came out when he said he would and gave us a quote. I had 4 folks come to give me an estimate and Jeff was the highest, but in the end, it was worth it. We wanted a bluestone sidewalk with stairs and wing walls at the bottom. I also did not like the bluestone with any red color to it so Jeff said he would handpick the pieces so we didn't end up with any red, and he did. The bluestone is crazy thick and will hold up forever. The wing walls he built were with actual stone pieces, not the thinner veneer pieces that other companies quoted. All the cuts are straight, the sidewalk is level and the curved pieces were cut beautifully. His workers were all polite, easy to communicate with and cleaned up at the end of each day. In fact, they came back a day after the sidewalk was complete and two workers spent almost an hour going through my yard with 5 gallon plastic buckets picking up all the tiny pieces of stone and mortar that were leftover after the job. By the time they left, it looked like they had never been there....other than the gorgeous sidewalk. I'd highly recommend Jeff and his crew.

I am extremely pleased with this company. They are very impressive. They were very professional and it turned out great.

Just adequate. Had to negotiate date and time. Came when said they would. Performed work. Nothing extra. All perfectly fine. Nothing to write home about.
