Jeff was great to work with. He understood our need and made good suggestions for completing our project within our price point.

The initial consultation was helpful in deciding what to do. The crew was polite, on time, and very hard working. They did a great job and we are very pleased with the result. They even pressure washed the walkway behind the house, at no extra charge.

Great. I had been looking to replace my gravel stones outside my sliding door, and under my deck, with either pavers or a concrete patio. After getting several estimates, I decided on Mottern Masonry for a stamped concrete patio. The design looks similar to pavers with what appears to be less maintenance and hopefully fewer issues in the future. Jeff Mottern was professional and understood what I was looking for. He also noticed some concrete between the bricks under my front steps that needed to be filled in and through that in as well. After working through the challenges of the HOA approval and all the rain, they were finally able to complete the project and I now have a nice patio that I can enjoy. I would hire them again for any other concrete work I might need in the future.

Mottern installed a flagstone front door stoop and pathway. The crew with leadman Salvador Ventura and Elder Salguro did an outstanding job. Salvador was very professional, accurate, attention to detail and even artistic in selecting the right stones to achieve an overall pleasing pattern.

I think I'm pretty picky when it comes to projects around my home and I usually don't have good feelings with contractors. Many don't seem to take the time to listen to the customer and don't provide the the level of craftsmanship that I want when paying a contractor. Mottern did a really great job from the initial consultation to the install. Jeff did a great job answering my questions and steering me in the right direction. His crew was really great. When things came up they discussed my options and provided great advice. They all worked really hard to deliver a great end product. They are one of the few I'll add to my list to recommend to my friends and neighbors!

Jeff and his team are true professionals. They drew up beautiful plans and executed the project as planned (see before and after pictures). We were given a timeline for the work and the project was monitored by Jeff Mottern and completed right on time. We are very pleased and plan to have Mottern do additional work for us.

We had a positive experience with Mottern Masonry from top to finish. We appreciated the time the owner (Jeff) took answering our questions at the beginning of the project. Some of the other masonry companies we talked just gave us the price and said "We can do that", but Jeff helped us think through the pros and cons of our ideas. We had ideas, but we definitely needed professional input to help us decide which materials to use, how wide to make the drive and the walkways, etc. Once we established our final vision, Jeff provided us with a detailed contract and timeline, which they adhered to throughout the project. The price was mid-range compared to other companies we talked to, and they were worth every penny! The crew was courteous and professional at all times. They take great pride in their work--as they should--and were fun and easy to work with! The end result is a driveway and walkway that make me smile every time I drive or walk up to the house. We were very pleased with the work performed by Mottern Masonry on our BBQ Island and Patio. This was our second project with Mottern Masonry (the first being a stamped concrete walkway 5+ years ago) and Jeff and his team were professional, fair and focused on delivering a quality job. During the initial consultation, Jeff offered numerous helpful suggestions that improved the overall aesthetic, while also offering several alternatives which ultimately saved us money. Our project was understandably delayed by extensive rains, both in starting the job and during the build, but Jeff did a great job communicating their plans on a daily basis and the crew worked over several weekends to get back on schedule. Jorge, our project foreman, was a true artisan and his crew was extremely professional and a pleasure to work with. We also had some very specific design requirements and Jorge skillfully incorporated them all into the finished product. In the end, the BBQ island and Patio looks like it was always meant to be there and we couldn't be happier.

They called me and were very professional. They recommended that I fix the crack myself, because their cost would be substantial. They gave me pointers on how to fix it. I was pleasantly surprised that they suggested a cheaper alternative. When I need more substantial concrete work, I would certainly use them!

We are very pleased with their work and can recommend the firm highly. The Mottern manager was excellent at communications. He kept us informed about their schedule for starting, stopped by in the evening to check project status and told us when to expect completion. The final cost was as we agreed. The Mottern Masonry team of workers was professional and very skilled. They were flexible when I realized the wall needed to be stepped up and down to allow for the line of the hill. In hindsight, I should have asked for more guidance on placement and asked more questions when the crew spray painted the locations early in the project. Overall, the wall, patio and walkway are lovely and work as beautiful additions to our home.

The folks at Mottern Masonry worked very hard, were responsive to our questions and provided high quality work. The owner came through on our request to finish the project under a tight deadline prior to a graduation party.

Jeff Mottern and his crew did an amazing job on my project!!! From the beginning Jeff (the owner) was honest, knowledgeable and very fairly priced. I was so pleased with George (my crew's foreman), he is a very skilled craftsman and he did a great job leading and working side-by-side with the crew. My backyard went from shabby to chic ... it's literally a backyard oasis after the magic touch of Mottern Masonry Design!

Mottern Masonry did an excellent job! Jeff responded to my phone message within 24 hours and gave us a free estimate. His team arrived on schedule, worked quickly and was able to tweak the design a little even after they started. When they were finished they cleaned up really well and there was minimal impact on surrounding grass and gardens. We've already received many compliments! Will upload pictures when time permits. If you are reading reviews for a mason, you have come upon the right company. Look no further, these are the guys you need to hire. This was our second experience with Mottern Masonry and again, they did not disappoint. Our first project with them was for front steps/walkway and porch. They installed beautiful tread stone and adjusted the rise and width (at their suggestion) to accommodate mobility issues. So happy with the end product! Our most recent job was to remove and replace an aggregate driveway with pavers, and to mediate drainage issues that have plagued us for years. The pavers were installed over new concrete reinforced with rebar. To say they did a fantastic job would be underselling it. The guys, starting with Jeff Mottern, and including all of his crews, know their business and are true artisans. The drainage on our new driveway is absolutely perfect. On both of our projects, there is not one single thing I would change. I can't ask for better than that! Give them the opportunity, they will take good care of you!

Excellent! They came up with a really nice solution to repair and cover the existing concrete slab using PA blue stone and added a different shade of rock for the facing. Turned out very nice. They even saw cut the concrete lip down right under the storm door and finished that the same way as well. The guys showed up early in the morning both days and got the job done fast.

Great experience. Jeff called me back promptly to discuss my work needs, and tell me a bit about his company. He explained up front that he has a $1900 minimum but he thought that what we needed done would easily meet that minimum. I was a little skeptical, but had him out for an estimate anyway, along with a couple other companies. He was right - we did meet the minimum. He didn't try to upsell anything else (unlike another provider who gave me a quote) and he didn't "girl" me (as did a third vendor). We set up the date for the work - his team showed up right on time and worked steadily until the work was done. They were neat, professional, and quiet. The brick work now looks better than ever.

Absolutely fantastic job from start to finish. High quality job preformed by true craftsmen. I would recommend Mottern Masonry Design to anyone. (I wish I had used them for the original build!) Honest company that delivers on its promises - you cannot ask for more than that!

Could not be more pleased with the job Mottern did. The whole experience from estimate (responded quickly to our request and provided a competitive bid), to the work done (design, construction, interaction with the crew), through billing was excellent. The walkway looks terrific !

Jeff and his team are consummate professionals -- very knowledgeable, diligent, and courteous. We were looking to put in a patio. Jeff thoroughly advised us on all our options, was generous with his time, and was willing to talk through many possibilities. He also kept his initial appointment even though it was in the middle of a snowstorm! As far as the work itself, it is clear he and his team are the best -- they really care about quality. His team also worked quickly and completed the job before schedule. Couldn't recommend him more highly. We love our patio!

Replaced 20 year old brick patio with better brick, concrete base and improved design. Project was completed on schedule and at the price quoted. Installation technicians were highly skilled and very courteous and helpful. The work of Mottern Masonry Design exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend them.

I never really do reviews on contractors but Mottern deserves a great review and recognition. They did a beautiful job, came in at a reasonable price, were excellent at communicating and showed up when they said they would. We are really happy with the finished product....great work! I would highly recommend them!

I was in the process of building a new home, so no water, power, and only a construction driveway. I contacted several masonry contractors to obtain bids to add Pennsylvania Bluestone pavers to an existing concrete patio. I was working between construction milestones to ensure overall home build stayed on track and needed the project completed within a one month period to ensure additional projects (railing, trim, paint) were not delayed. I contacted Mottern Masonry and explained all of the above. They sent out an estimator, Guy, to estimate and provide a proposal. Guy reviewed the project and conditions at the construction site and submitted a bid based on those conditions. Guy's proposal was right in the middle of other contractors bids. Based on pricing and the high reviews on Angie's List, I decided to sign a contract with Mottern Masonry and provided a 50% deposit. Fast forward to scheduled install, Jeff (owner) at Mottern Masonry decided not to move forward with the project even though we had a signed contract and they accepted and deposited my down payment. Initially they blamed sight conditions (no water) as the issue but after offering to source water containers for their use and work through other issues, Jeff explained that his estimator underbid the project and sent me a revised bid that added 20% to the project and would not move forward unless I accepted the new terms. Needless to say, I was shocked since Mottern has stellar reviews on Angie's list. Ultimately I decided not to sign the new proposal. Jeff did refund my deposit but it took over two months of emails and calls before I received a check. Overall, a bad experience that caused delays on other projects with dependencies on completion of the porch. Ultimately it delay the final completion of the house and issuance of residency permit by the county as I needed railing installed before county would issue the permit.

We were very impressed with Mottern Masonry and all aspects of the job. The initial conversations and ideas about how to approach the project were very informative and resulted in us going with them as opposed to 2 other companies. We felt that Mottern really cared about the quality of the job and ensuring that it met our needs and desires. Our assigned crew was also extremely knowledgeable, skilled, and friendly. They worked very hard, ensuring the job site was in good shape at the end of every day, and validating that we were happy at every step. We are extremely happy with the final product. It ties in well with the other surfaces on our house and looks like our whole house has been updated.
