AFFORDABLE LAWN SPRINKLERS & LIGHTING

We decide last fall that it was time to install an irrigation system for our established lawn and landscaping beds - approx. 1/4 acre lot. We called a few companies for quotes, including ones recommended by our neighbors. Andy came out and was excellent in terms of talking through what we wanted/needed the different types of systems ( they use RainBird ), and how they work. He also was responsive to my follow-up calls/emails with questions. Their quote was very competitive, and they were able to accomodate my irrigation needs for all our landscaping, including working around a vegetable garden bed that I had an separate, existing system for. It turned out that we were not able to get the installation done until this Spring, however - Affordable honored the original quote and were very good about quickly getting us on the schedule. The installation went exactly as Andy described and the work crew arrived on time, were very, very good about being careful around my large existing trees and the trenches cut for the irrigation lines did not chew up as much of my lawn as expected. They returned after a few weeks to show us how to adjust the sprinker heads, review how to set/use the system and make adjustments. All went very smoothly, our lawn looks great - we are very satisfied with all aspects!

Everything was done in a professional and punctual manner, from the survey and estimate by Alvaro, to the installation by Osgood's team, and final walkthrough by Werner, including requested adjustments and understanding/demonstration of the system and excellent Rain Bird equipment. We are very pleased with this contract.

Affordable Lawn Sprinklers and Lighting installed the irrigation system for our single family home. Our experience with this company was pleasant and smooth throughout the whole process. They came on time and installed the system in half a day and showed us how the system works. A week or so later a representative came to show us in detail how the system works and what we should and should not do. Throughout the process Joe Clemens kept in touch with us via e-mail or phone. We will definitely use the company in the future for any maintenance and when we need winterize the system.

I was very impressed with this company. They came and gave us a quote, came up with a great design that will allow us to modify/grow in the future, delivered exactly as promised, and then . . . get this . . . came back a week later to follow up and make sure we were happy. They also spent a considerable amount of time training us. I am very very pleased.

Very happy with the company. The installers were competent and professional and did a great job.

We are completely satisfied with the work. The firm always worked around our schedules. They came for the estimate on time and promptly provided me with the estimate and an explanation of the proposed work and how it would be performed. They kept in close touch with me about installation dates that were convenient to my slightly crazy schedule. They came as scheduled to perform the work, which they did as planned. They left the yard clean and restored. They explained the work to me the day of the installation. They then returned in two weeks at my convenience for a detailed walk through and explanation of how to operate the system. The firm accepted no money from me, not even a deposit, until the final walk through. The firm was one of the easiest to do business with of any firm I have worked with in years. I would recommend the firm without hesitation.

I always wanted a lawn irrigation system. I have previously requested an estimate from other companies years ago. This year, I decided to bite the bullet and go for it. I called two companies and this company immediately returned my call, scheduled a day for an estimate, I was so impressed on how easy Ryan made it look for the installation, I decided to hire them. Provided a deposit and waited for the day of installation. Ryan said about three weeks about but I got a call and they said that they can install it earlier. Much earlier. In fact, two weeks earlier. Needless to say, I was a little skeptical when they said it wouldn't take more than 3 - 4 hours. Honestly, never have been so excited about an irrigation system. Anyways, the installer crew was prompt, courteous, and definitely knew what they were doing. They made it look real easy. Too easy. To top it off, they didn't require the rest of the balance once installed. They wanted me to get acclimated with the system before another technician came onsite about a week and half later to make sure everything was great and then I got to pay the balance due. Never been happier with the whole process. Money well spent for sure. I wish they can do other work. Their professionalism is astounding. Communication was excellent throughout the whole process.

Called in mid April, Got the estimate a week later. Gave me an angie's list discount which was appreciated. Did the work the first week of May and came back a week later to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The crew was very professional and tidy. Great experience.

Great experience overall from response to initial inquiry to explaining the process from start to finish to handling all permit applications with the county and to reacting to low water pressure. When I finally decided I had dragged the last hose across my lawn to water our early lawn seeding, we contacted Affordable Lawn Sprinkler and Lighting for an estimate for an in ground sprinkler system. These folks responded right away, come to our home for an evaluation, and gave us a detailed drawing and estimate that seemed very fair. They took all the time we needed to understand the system and how it could take care of our watering needs for the foreseeable future. The system is now installed with a minimum disturbance to our lawn and we are happy campers! Affordable did a great job. All employees were punctual, very competent, polite and completed their work in a professional manner. During the final walk-through at completion we asked for a few changes which they were able to do on the spot. The company is top notch, we would not hesitate to use them again and we give them our highest recommendation.

Excellent. Worked with us on pricing to get what we wanted within our budget; showed up on time every time, did excellent work; always responsive same day with questions, etc. One of the best contractors I have ever hired!

All went well except for the Verizon cable that was cut. This was not the fault of Affordable Lawn - Miss Utility had failed to mark it. They let me know that if I incurred any cost for the repair that they would be responsible for it.

Overall, it went superly. Every aspect of the process, from meeting w/Joe Clemens to discusss my requirements, to installation (They actually worked me into their schedule earlier than originally forecast), to orientation on the system was flawless!e I used Affordable several years ago to install an irrigation in my home in Burke. I was so extremely pleased with theier service that upon moving to my new home in Ashburn I did not hesitate to request a quote from them for an irrigation system for my new home. I am a 2d-time user of Affordable. I would not hesitate to use them a 3d time should the need arise!

They did a nice job with the installation. They put in 6 zones and took only 4 hours from start to finish. The crew had six guys and they got it done quickly. They cleaned up their mess and the lawn looked okay afterward. They spent some time showing me how to use it and I have had no trouble so far.

Although I did not use them for the project and instead used someone who works regularly in the neighborhood, I was extremely pleased with my interaction with them. They were quick to respond to my request and scheduled an appointment for an estimate. I was 15 minutes late and by the time I arrived, they had prepared a picture of my house with a proposed lighting diagram. This was followed by a very clear explanation of what it would take to install the lights and how we could manage costs. One of the most refreshing things was that at no point was this a sales pitch. Very pleased!

I was referred to them by a commercial irrigation company. The whole process was smooth. The sales guy arrived to sketch out the irrigation plan and to provide an estimate. He was more a technician than a sales guy, which is to say that he was very informative and not at all a high-pressure sale. The installation was scheduled about 3-4 weeks after signing the contract. The installation crew arrived in the morning and completed the work in about 5 hours. Oscar (the foreman) put flags where the sprinkler heads would be placed and walked me through the layout of the zones in case I had questions. He was also very patient with me, as our neighbors were very concerned about the water coverage area and how it would impact them. I was surprised with the minimal visible damage to the lawn, as they do bury pipe. It's been 2 days since installation and it's hard to tell that work had been done in most areas. The day after installation another person came out to adjust the sprinklers, walk me through the system, how to make my own adjustments, and how to use the controller. He setup the system before he left and this morning I had the lawn thoroughly watered by 7:30am!! I'm very happy with their service and knowledge.

It went very well. We got the permit for the plumbing from Arlington. That reduced the cost.

I was referred to this company be a friend; I had seen their work at the friend's house, and was not disappointed when they completed my installation. More accurately, I would say I am delighted. This is because of the professiolism, dependability and pricing of this company. The installation went smoothly, with very little disruption of my yard (or my life). A company representative returned about a week later to test and adjust the system, demonstrate all the features for me, and collect the final payment. Throughout the process, from initial estimate to completion, they were in communication with me regularly so that I knew what to expect and when to expect it. They provided reminders by email and phone, and showed up as promised each and every time. How many service companies can actually perform and communicate equally well? They were fantastic from beginning to end. Very responsive to my initial inquiry. Answered all of my questions punctually. Made every appointment on time. And most importantly they did an excellent job. Their instructions were thorough and thoughtful. I'd highly, highly recommend them!

I met with several sprinkler installers and went with Affordable Lawn due to their professionalism and prompt responses to my inquiries. I had some questions regarding PVC vs poly and they were answered to my satisfaction. Ryan, one of the owners of the company, came to my house to discuss my options and cost. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. I was able to schedule an appointment, but had to delay the install due to the inclement weather we experienced in early march. It was a little inconvenient to re-schedule, but I understood due to weather constraints. The only real problem I had was during the install day. When I had received a quote from a competitor, one of their main arguments to go with them was that all their employees spoke english as their first language and there would be no issue with communication during the install day. I had expressed this to Ryan and was assured that the person overseeing the install spoke english well. However, on the day of the install, this person, who happened to be the only one who spoke even a little bit of english, was difficult to communicate with. Although I was a little disappointed in this, it ended up being fine, as I was able to schedule a follow up walk-through with someone else, who was able to explain all the details of the sprinkler system. I think that Ryan and Joe, who is the person who handled the scheduling and any other questions I had, were professional, knowledgeable and easy to work with. The installation crew was prompt and on my property as scheduled very early in the morning. My only complaint would be the language barrier I faced on the day of the install. Overall, a good experience.

We wanted to install a sprinkler system before moving into our new house. I solicited quotes from 3 different companies and felt the most comfortable with Affordable Lawn Sprinklers. They have installed many of our neighbors' systems and they get top reviews from their customers. They were also the most competitively priced. I liked their company philosophy, the fact that they are locally owned, and they are available to help us with future maintenance. We are very satisfied with our selection of Affordable Lawn Sprinklers to install our system.

I used this company for the first time for an installation in 2005, and gave them repeat business on a new installation in 2012. Needless to say, my experience has been poor the second time. My biggest concern with this company has been the service. It is nearly impossible to call the company and speak to a live person. Usually you just have to leave a message. My experience has been that the office staff doesn?t return phone calls. The reason I decided to write this review on Angie's List today is because of a conversation I had with Affordable Lawn Sprinklers this morning. I first contacted the company at the end of February to schedule my spring turn on service. I was actually able to speak to a person on the phone. I was told they were working on their routes that very day and would call me back in a couple of days to schedule. I never heard back. I subsequently left a few more messages for the company over the course of the next 6 weeks. Never received a return phone call. Finally last night, exasperated because I need to schedule the sprinkler system turn on for the season and I can?t ever reach anyone at this company and can?t get a return phone call, I sent an email through their website basically saying I'm trying to contact you, please call me to schedule the turn on, and if you aren't able to service the system you sold me, have the courtesy to let me know that as well. This morning Lisa from Affordable Lawn Sprinklers responded to my email. She was rude and annoyed with me. Told me they have responded to each of my messages. I'm not certain that is a true statement because I have a cell phone, and there is no record of any incoming calls from their number or a similar number. I questioned how bizarre this was because I don't know how they could have been leaving me messages when I haven't received any messages and don't have any record of their incoming calls . Perhaps did they have the wrong number for me despite my leaving my number each time with my messages? Lisa snapped at me and said that they have one number and it's the number that I use to call them. She couldn?t be bothered to even confirm the phone number for me. She was full of attitude, and clearly had no respect for me as a customer. It was a take it or leave it attitude. She was unapologetic, and informed me it will be 3 weeks until I can get on the schedule. This disappointed me given how I've been contacting the company since February trying to schedule the service. but it is what it is I asked what time the appointment would take place. She responded that it's an automated system and they don't know what time. Usually I am given the courtesy making a note to request a morning slot, or after a certain time in the afternoon to accommodate carpool times. I wasn't even given the opportunity to do this. As I started to ask for Ryan the owner's phone number, she talked over me to say goodbye and hung up the phone on me while I was still talking. Being hung up on was absolutely the rudest I have EVER been treated by a company. As a customer of this company for almost 8 years, it disappoints me to be treated like pond scum. They want your money when you purchase a system but don't demonstrate any willingness toward customer service or valuing their customers once you buy that system. The purpose of my calls was very simple. To pay them money to turn my sprinkler system on this spring. Never did I expect they wouldn?t have the courtesy to return calls, and get so angry at me for simply trying to schedule an appointment. I sent Ryan, the owner, an email. I have received phone calls and emails back from both owners. They have offered me $50 off my service. I?m not looking for a discount. I?m looking for a company where when you call you can speak to a live person, and if you have to leave a message, they are happy to get back to you. Affordable Lawn Sprinklers is a small, local business. The reason I hired them in the first place is because I do support small, local businesses. I hope they will realize that they good customer service is needed to retain their customers. There are plenty of other companies out there who will install and service the Rain Bird products that Affordable Lawn Sprinklers sells.

Outstanding from start to finish - Reed (the owner) was exceptional at gathering info from me about my needs and then taking the time to help me understand the different options. In almost all instances he recommended an option that was both better priced and better targeted to achieve what my plants needed. The installation crew was efficient, friendly and very professional. The install, which required significant digging in beds, etc., was truly flawless - after they left, it was as if nothing had been touched - even our tempermental bulbs were unperturbed. I put off getting sprinklers for years because I thought it would be so expensive and harmful to my plants (in the short term) - in the case of working with Affordable, I was wrong on both counts.
