AFFORDABLE LAWN SPRINKLERS & LIGHTING

Went quite well. Somewhat surprised at the initial "destruction" of the lawn but was assured it would come back quickly which it did.

The project went very well. The crew was courteous and efficient and worked with us to design a system that works well for our property. ALS has been very responsive to any questions and/or concerns that have arisen since the installation. I would recommend ALS to anyone in the market for a lawn sprinkler system.

I contacted Affordable based on favorable Angie's List reviews and asked them to come out, turn on my system, which I assumed included an inspection of the sprinkler heads to make sure everything was in good working order, and I asked them to take a look at a valve that I suspected was bad based on a comment made by another company when I shut the system down last fall. I also wanted an estimate for re-working one of the zones because we had altered the footprint of the landscape and we wanted to add a few heads and move a few. The person showed up when he was supposed to and he told me, in very broken English, he was here to fix the valve. I told him that I was not sure what needed to be done with the valve and that I was only operating on what another company told me when I turned the system off in the fall. He had me turn on the system and cycle it through the zones. He looked at each zone, but really did not do a thorough inspection. We cycled though the zones very quickly and he told me all zones were working properly so there was no problem with any valve. I then reiterated to him what I was told during the fall shutoff and he agreed to look in the valve box where I suspected the problem was and the valve box was full of water. He said "Oh" and then said he could not fix the valve that day because of a huge rain storm that was expected within a few hours. If that was the case, then why did he tell me he was there to fix the valve when he first came to the door??? Nothing changed about the weather report in the 10 minutes between when he first knocked on my door and when he told me he couldn't do the work because of the impending storm. I said "OK" and that I was also looking for an estimate to re-work a zone and he hastily listened to what I told him and provided me with a very hasty verbal estimate of $500 to repair the valve, which included replacing both valves, the manifold, and the valve box. The estimate also included installing two new heads and moving one. He then implied that I owed $105 for him showing up that day and when I balked at that, he told me that it was no charge for that day and that someone would be contacting me from the office about the estimate. He also wanted me to change my control panel because he thought the panel I had was too complicated. I declined because it worked fine. As of today, 7/5/2013, nobody from Affordable has contacted me about the work that I need to have done. I have moved onto another contractor..still waiting for the work to be done...but at least their hourly labor charge is $65 vs $105 for Affordable. I was very disappointed in Affordable given their high marks from Angie's List members and I will certainly exhaust all other options before I would ever consider Affordable.

What a great experience. From the initial estimate walk through to yesterdays install, all went as promised. The crew was no nonsense, arriving exactly on time and the did an excellent job. I received a full walk through of the system and it operates perfectly. This was also a very good deal having had irrigation systems in the past. Thank you Affordable!

I selected Affordable Sprinklers and Lighting based on value. I had 3 companies inspect the site and Mr. Werner from AS&L made an impression on me right away with his preparedness. I subsequently had a pleasant experience with the installation crew, 6 men plus Peter the supervisor. they were punctual, very easy to communicate with and very responsive in helping with suggestions and final details. The final review and adjustment was done by Mr. Vernon but it was a very windy day so he did the best he could and will come back yet again to adjust the sprinklers heads upon my request. AS&L was not the cheapest I think but the best value for me. I had an excellent experience overall, communication was excellent, and I am very satisfied with their service. I was able to speak with Joe the owner every time I called his number and he was very pleasant to deal with. I think this is a good company with really great people. I will use AS&L again if I need and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

The whole event went very well. Rain leading up to the scheduled date forced them to have to reschedule, but their staff stayed in touch with me and we were able to make adjustments. The morning the crew arrived (right on time) they went to work right away. They clearly knew what they were doing and worked together as a team. The sprinkler system works great and the lights are wonderful. An added touch was a week after the installation they sent a separate member of the team to do a walk through, test the system, and tweak the system to ensure it is working perfect.

Great job done by the Affordable crew. They quickly responded to my concerns and corrected them immediately. The system works great and is comprised of quality components. The staff is very professional and sincerely interested in ensuring we are happy with their service.

I called to get an estimate and/or schedule a time - but the person who answered the phone said it was a $50 charge for someone to come out. I was calling to get a rain sensor replaced and she said they couldn't estimate without a service charge. I then asked if they would charge to have someone call me back and she said it was $150 per hour and then increments of 15 after that. She was very professional in a short, uncooperative way. My take was that they were not taking new business and that I should call someone else. Unfortunately, a lot people in this industry seem to have the same attitude, I guess it's the nature of the business.

Crew showed up on time as scheduled. Peter, the leader, walked me around the grounds and explained where the sprinklers would be placed. At my request, he had no problem moving a few to different locations to accommodate my needs. The whole installation was completed in 4 hours. All wiring and piping was done in a highly professional manner. They cleaned up the grounds upon completion. They exceeded my expectations. I was very pleased.

The installation went well. After two weeks of operation I discovered a small leak coming from one of the brass fittings in the unfinished part of my basement. Affordable Lawn Sprinklers was able to fix the problem during the followup visit. The problem turned out to be a faulty connection. Overall we were very pleased with the work performed.

Workers were friendly and punctual. Work was completed the same day as indicated. They were also responsive to questions during installation.

The crew finished the installation yesterday in under four hours. Due to my landscaping and the small size of the yard, the crew manually dug the trenches for the water hoses. They were very careful around my plants but one can easily see where they lifted and replaced the grass. I am very glad that I added a smart controller to my system (about 10% of my total cost). You program the type of soil (e.g. clay), type of plants (e.g. grass, annuals, shrubs, etc.), slope, plant density, etc. and the controller optimizes the watering schedule. The controller also includes a temperature sensor and rain gauge to automatically adjust the watering cycles depending upon estimated soil moisture. The controller will cycle the irrigation run time to prevent water run-off from slopes. It is also sophisticated enough to irrigate other zones, as needed, while waiting for water to soak in.

They were very professional and knowledgeable. Watching them work it occurred to me that in ground irrigation system installations are difficult; however, they took to the task quickly and thoroughly.

From the beginning of the proposal and design process through the final walkthrough Affordable Lawn Sprinklers were completely professional. They were on time, on schedule and provided the service exactly as we discussed. The crews installing the sprinklers left no mess behind and were courteous enough to move all the rocks they dug up off the yard to one of the stone beds we have in the back of our house. I was very impressed with the quality of work and will refer them to my friends with confidence.

From the initial meeting with Reed Libby, the owner, to working with Joe on scheduling to installation, everything went seamlessly. Reed took the time to understand our needs and Joe was patient with us on the scheduling end. The crew that showed up to install the system worked hard and had to pull up new sod in order to install the irrigation system. Our builder said that he had not seen an irrigation system installed with so little disruption to the newly sodded yard. Affordable sent out someone to go through the system with us and make sure that we understood both the irrigation system and the lighting system.

We went with this company based on the recommendation of a friend. Randy, one of the owners came out to give us our estimate and I was very impressed with him. He answered all of my questions, was open about pricing, and educated me about the winterization process. We had gotten quotes a few years ago from other companies and decided not to have a sprinkler systems installed at that time. After my time with Randy, Affordable Sprinklers was the only quote we got this time. Unfortunately,I wasn't as impressed with the company on the day of the install. Good news is that we have a working sprinkler, but the install wasn't as smooth as I would have hoped. I felt that it was a little difficult to communicate with the person in charge, they hit the swing set with the ditch witch (luckily, there was very minor damage), and they burned the insulation in the basement when they tapped into our main water line (laziness on their part by not using the fireproof blanket that they are supposed to carry with them to prevent just this type of thing). Although it is not their fault, since the ground was wet when they installed the system the ditch witch made a lot of ruts in our yard that will be our responsibility to fill and smooth out - I was not expecting this. There were also a few problems with the head placement that showed up after we tested the system for the first time after they left. On the positive side, they worked very hard to minimize the damage to our yard. The grass that needed to be removed for hand digging was put back in place and tamped down and using the ditch witch to pull the pipes through the yard made it so you could barely tell they had been here. A few days ago, they came back out to do our system walk through and a gentleman named Werner came out to take care of us. I was delighted with him. He paid attention to what I was concerned about and remembered everything I asked him to change (which was quite a bit). They added a few more heads to improve coverage in the areas that weren't getting watered, changed out a few heads to improve the spray pattern and moved the rain sensor to a less noticeable place on our house. He was polite and nice to work with. The real test of the system will come when the heat hits in July. All in all this was a fine company to do business with, but I would have liked a slightly better experience on the day of the install - after all, the install is what makes the system.

Ryan, one of the owners, was professional and knowledgable. What I liked about him was that he wasn't trying to do a hard sell but focused on the quality of the product. I would have gone with this company whose prices were very competitive, however, the other company had lights that had multi-lense feature...for what it's worth...

The company agent arrived on time for the estimate. Very knowledgable. Answered all my questions. Very satisfied. Company arrived on time to install. Very professional. Fast and proficent. Showed me how the system worked and explained to me in detail. Sceduled an appointment for a follow up. I had an issue a couple days later with one of the zones pressure. They sent a tech out in a couple days and fixed the issue. I am very happy overall with the company and install.

Great - the lawn gets watered, and it costs me less to have green grass.

Everything was fine, so no complaints. We have used them for five years.

We appreciated how the co-owner personally contacted us to ensure we had everything we needed. He was very responsive to our questions, and provided a color brochure with many details. The installation team arrived very early in the morning, and provided a thorough walkthrough of the new control programming panel. My only concern is that some sections of our lawn were destroyed and are now mud patches. We are hopeful that the grass will fill in those areas. Overall, a solid job.

l called for an appointment and was given one the same week. A gentleman came out- I think he was one of the owners (I'm terrible at names). He was friendly, professional , and informative. There was no pressure to buy or sign anything that day. Prices were clear. I was so impressed that I signed the contract that day. Paid a deposit and waited for my installation date. (We were also having some landscaping done at the same time by another company.) Joe- one of the managers called to set up the installation- I told him about the landscaping, and he contacted our landscaper to coordinate installation- I didn't have to do anything. The crew arrived exactly on time the day of installation. The foreman introduced himself and talked through what would be going on that day. Everyone went right to work and did a fabulous job. They cleaned up everything before leaving. The foreman told me someone would call me later the same day to schedule a walk through. I did receive a call as promised that evening. Since we are having sod laid, I am waiting on the final walk through until next week. But so far this company has been great! So easy to work with. I did call twice before installation with questions - they were pleasant, and patient and took the time to answer everything I asked. Update: The final walk through went great. The technician walked through the property with us and answered all of our questions and explained in detail how to run the system. He ran each of the sprinkler areas and made adjustments, even replaced a few of the heads to better water the hard to reach spots in our yard. Would highly recommend.

I called Affordable Lawn Sprinklers & Lighting to get an estimate for outdoor lighting. My call was returned the same day and an estimate was provided by co-owner Ryan Muniz the next day. I was impressed with the prompt response as well as the products and services that would be provided. Ryan provided various pricing options and gave excellent advise on the placement of lights that would accent the house, trees, scrubs and patio. Two weeks later the lights and transformers were installed. I decided on adding several lights, which were installed within a week. Installation manager Joe Clemons provided updates on all aspects of the process beginning with the installation date to final walk-through. I was very impressed with the quality of work and the professionalism from each employee. The end result was fantastic. In fact, several neighbors have commented on how great the new lights make the house look. I would highly recommend Affordable Lawn Sprinklers & Lighting to anyone wishing to improve the outside appearance of their home.
