EXCELLENT SERVICE!! Right from the start of the moving process Campbell Moving was top notch. I had to coordinate a move for my company and as protocol dictates, I had to get three estimates from moving companies. Andy, with Campbell Moving, gave me an estimate right on the spot, whereas the other two companies took 48 hours to get their estimates to me. Andy was also prepared with their COI, gave me great advice for getting organized and got us our moving supplies immediately. Our move became quite complicated; items needed to be moved to various locations on different dates!! I was feeling the pressure and was quite stressed as the first date approached, but thanks to Andy?s calm demeanor and that of his very professional crew, my worries were quelled. Campbell Moving accommodated all of our needs without a hiccup. The crews were professional, friendly, on-time and stayed on task until the job was done. The crew supervisor, Hector was an absolute pleasure to work with and his crew worked well for him. I have had plenty of experience with movers over the years and can honestly say I have never dealt with a more experienced, knowledgeable, professional or friendly company than Campbell Moving. I will use them for all of my moves in the future; personal and professional. Thank you Campbell Moving for making this a great experience.

They were AWESOME!!! Jonathan and his team did an amazing job, and we were extremely impressed with how hardworking and helpful the movers were. They arrived on time, and worked for 6 hours loading and unloading the truck, which probably saved us at least 20 hours and broken backs. They carefully wrapped all of our breakable furniture items to ensure a safe trip up to our new home. We could not believe how much they could carry! They were very polite and professional, and we would strongly recommend them to anyone about to move.
Description of Work: Moved all of our furniture, packed boxes and a huge, custom bar from a townhouse to our new single-family home about 25 minutes away.

Bill and his crew showed up a little early and got right to work. We had sold our house and were having a new house built. As we should have expected, our new house was not going to be ready on time, so we rented a furnished apartment for 3 months and moved our stuff into storage. We foolishly thought that would be enough time to complete our new home. We only had 3 months to use as our rental was already promised to a new renter at that time. Bill calmed me down explaining that he had seen this many times before and it was not our fault. Bill found us a storage solution instantly and put our stuff in storage telling us that he would do everything he could do to fit us in whenever our home was completed. We got the builder to put us in s hotel for the 3 additional weeks it took to finish our new home. As soon as we got a settlement date, I called Bill. He told me that as it would be at the end of the month, it would be hard to work us in as they were usually booked solid at the end of the month. Bill kept working on the problem and finally called me at 10:00 in the evening and told me that he had a crew and truck ready for us on the day of our move. I met the truck at the house and they again went right to work. Being a new house, we were worried about the new floors and walls as well as our large collection of furniture that we gathered over 14 years and did not want anything damaged. Well you would have thought Bill was moving into his own new house. He seemed to anticipate every path and location of every piece of furniture and box on the truck. He directed his crew with professionalism and expert control. Every floor and wall as well as piece of furniture looked just as new as before the move. I can't tell you how comforting it was working with someone with the level of experience he brought to a very tense and difficult time. He calmed me and my wife down and gave us confidence that all was well and would turn out right. The price was worth every penny and more. We had never been so upset as we were with our builder but Bill helped us keep things in perspective and realize that it was not our fault. Our faith in others has been restored thanks to this experience and we would recommend Campbell Moving and Storage to all of our friends. Thanks Bill. W.J.C.

The crew arrived 45 minutes late to move us. They had brought no tools with which to disassemble and reassemble our beds. I found this out when the foreman came to me with my own drill gun, telling me the battery was dead. He had drained it after using the tool without my knowledge or permission.The crew carried our mattresses down and loaded them into the truck without wrapping them in anything. They were completely exposed to sweat and dirt. Once I discovered them sitting bare in the back of the truck, I insisted they wrap them. The foreman told me they had nothing to wrap them in. He then decided to shrink wrap them.The crew did not wrap the banister in our apartment to protect it, as I had been told me they would. They did not wrap the furniture they picked up at our storage facility, I presume because they felt pressed for time. As a result, our dining room table sustained a deep gouge on the table surface, and our armoire was chipped.When moving our furniture and boxes into our house, the crew did not wrap our banister. At one point I saw one of the crew drinking from my wife?s drinking cup without permission (the only cup we had with us that wasn?t packed). I witnessed the foreman kick one of our boxes to get it to fit on the dolly at the storage facility. When the foreman was settling the bill with me, he asked me to sign-off on having received everything in perfect condition. I told him I hadn?t had a chance to inspect anything, therefore I was not prepared to sign. He left and did not leave me a copy of the receipt.The foreman informed me that I did not have insurance coverage, because I didn?t discuss that with him the day of the pack-up. But he never brought it up that day, therefore I assumed I would talk about insurance on the move day. Since he didn?t bring it up on the move day, I called the Campbell office and was told I had an automatic $10,000 insurance policy for furniture damage. I told the gentleman over the phone I wanted to purchase the additional coverage, and he said he would call the foreman. This never happened.
Description of Work: They moved our things from a two bedroom apartment and a 10x10 storage unit to a four-bedroom house three miles down the road.

Tough one to respond to. Thinking that the 45 minutes late may have set the tone for the day and destined the job to be less than our best. We try very hard to be on time and most often as stated here in the reviews we are early. Negotiating morning rush hour in a truck can be sometimes more than just difficult. The rest of the complaints you mentioned here will be addressed with he crew foreman. My thinking is that they may have indeed tried to cut corners to make up for time realizing the late start. As for the issue that the mover used your drinking cup I can only say I am sorry. It is usually a good idea to have some paper cups or bottled water available for moving crews when the temperature is high. Most times our crews will carry bottled water in the truck but than again ...... I believe that your move got done without any damages and in the time frame estimated and that is the good news here. I do apologize for the inefficiencies on our part that particular day. Very rare day for us. Bill Campbell 703 435 2242

7.5 hrs charged- estimated 9.5 hrs (they charged 1.5 travel time fee) They did a good job of transporting all of my items in perfect condition. No items were broken, chipped, or damaged in any way, which I think is the most important thing in a moving company. When booking them, I was a little hesitant because they were 50 to $75 more per 4 man hour than other companies, but they were very kind to give me a discount that had otherwise expired a month before. There was a four man crew and 2 of the workers were very good and were hard working. They loaded the truck in about 2.5 hours, they left while I loaded up my car with personal items. I opened one of the closets and it was full of my husbands clothes that did not get packed. This was a closet that I had opened and showed them initially to pack and I was also told I would get 8 free wardrobe boxes with the move. They only brought three, I called them back to have them come back to the house (they had only been gone a couple minutes), they informed me they did not have enough wardrobe boxes and could not get that closet (they had only brought 3 wardrobe boxes that day). I was frustrated, but what could I do. I left house 20 min after them and arrived at the new house, but no truck in sight, I assume they were driving slowly/taking a different route ( they left at 12 pm and arrived at 1 pm). The unloading process seemed to take a long time, and 2 of the men when I would tell them where the boxes went, they seemed to understand, but then put them in other areas of the house (i.e. basement items ended up in the living room). The foreman and one of the crew were superb, strong and were constantly moving, however, the other 2 in the crew, were much slower and took their time in assembling the bed frames, one of which I just saw was not properly bolted to the headboard. But, they did a great job with disassembling and reassembling my son's crib, I would not have been able to handle that. Finally when all was said and done, they gave me the quote for 1230, not trying to be difficult but I asked about the clothes they forgot and what they could do about that. They said they could go back and charge for that time, I felt that was unacceptable and we called the office. The office rightfully said that it was their fault and would send the crew back to get the closet full of clothes at no charge. When all was said and done they gave me the final quote and it was for 1417 and I was very confused as to what had happened. It turned out that he had originally made a calculation error, but I was frustrated, because when you give a client one price and then give them another, it is difficult to swallow. I also felt that the 12-1300 was a more reasonable price for the service considering 2 of the men took their time and were less professional than their counterparts. I spoke to the owner and he was a little short with me, but in the end gave me the discount because the four man crew was really 2 to 3 rather than 4 men. He said that he would talk to those that were not performing up to the job. Even with the frustration of the 2 issues, I still think they are a good company and would work with them again as long as they sent me 4 good crew members next time. I do think they offer a premium service and they do everything they can to minimize the damage to your items by wrapping everything.

Great experience. Great company. Great group of movers. Would DEFINITELY use them again.
Description of Work: They moved our entire townhouse which wasn't easy. We have a lot of things. They didn't break a single thing. The ONLY complaint i have is that they did NOT carpet the ENTIRE stairwell when they were moving us in to the new place. I was distracted so I didnt notice until later and I was already tired and didn't feel like fussing over it. So that patch of stairwell had stains and needed vacuuming. Not a huge deal but still. Besides that, extremely punctual, extremely respectful, and extremely hard working. They do NOT waste time at ALL. Very impressed with ALL the movers work ethic.

They took one 30 minute lunch break when my sister brought in some pizzas. The team treated my furniture as though it's all as beautiful and new as I only wish it were! The guys were all friendly, polite and patient with each other despite the inevitable frustrations of tight spaces, climbing temperatures and a slow and clumsy customer in their midst. They made a highly stressful and traumatic situation bearable. You really get the feeling they have respect for you and your possessions, even if you do have too many of them. The move ended up taking 10 hours, which was only 1 hour longer than Wayne projected. mostly due to the rental office over-booking the freight elevator. I would plan any other move around Campbell and ask for the same team, especially Robert who laughed at my lame humor and Carlos who was truly nice and patient and who might yet have a career as a diplomat.
Description of Work: Wayne gave me a very accurate estimate and booked my move less than a week in advance. Of course, he honored their coupon on Angie's List and kindly gave me an additional break because I have advanced MS. Robert and his five-man team were enthusiastic hard chargers, who worked incredibly h****** this difficult move. They arrived on time or slightly early with two big trucks and emptied a jammed storage space filled by a lousy moving company of all my worldly possessions packed by rank amateurs in a huge hurry.

We moved all of our boxes ourselves, but needed professional movers for our furniture and heavy items. Some of our furniture is one of a kind pieces and very delicate so I was nervous about the whole process. I received an estimate via phone. The gentleman I spoke to inquired about each of the rooms in the house that were being moved, and gave me a quote. It seemed reasonable so I scheduled the move. Alex, Carlos and Ramon were the three guys that showed up. They were right on time. They gave me an estimate of how long it would take to do the move after seeing everything and it was close to the estimate over the phone. These men worked incredibly hard all day long. They wrapped up all of our furniture very well, and NOTHING was damaged during the move! There was no slack time. They were like machines and worked non-stop! On top of their great worth ethic, these folks were very polite and humble. We couldn't have been happier about our moving experience with Campbell. Moving can be a very stressful experience. It's great to know there are companies like Campbell to help make that process go smoothly. Thanks so much for the great service!

Hello member, Thanks for your time to come back and review us. We only wish every customer would do the same. We are finding that about one in four write the follow up review. You mentioned a few things that make us proud. First thing you called us was "hard chargers". The men are conditioned to do this kind of work as hard as it is by doing it almost every day. I am now 58 and been out of the physical end of the work for some 15 years but I too like to think of myself as a "used to be hard charger" when working on the trucks. I appreciate the difficulty. Another other thing you mentioned was the careful wrapping and concern we had with a "one of a kind " piece of delicate furniture. you had. Our men are creative and can build a soft crate to match anything they may find on a customer job. Lastly, the men stay busy from start to finish and there is never any "slack time". "They agreed to pack the day before, but put the papers in the wrong file. To compensate, they worked on the moving day with some additional personnel. The overall experience was good. Unfortunately they scratched the floor in the new place and some furniture got broken.

All in all, a very good moving experience. I am a happy and satisfied customer. I would not hesitate to recommend Campbell Movers to any of my friends or neighbors. Thanks guys for making my move a little less stressful.
Description of Work: The gentleman I talked to about my move was very polite and helpful. The pricing structure was explained up front with no hidden fees. They supplied all the wardrobe boxes and packed the items for me. The movers arrived exactly on time. They did an amazing job wrapping and protecting my furniture. Not one scratch. You can tell these movers know what they are doing. Everything that had to be disassembled was done by them and reassembled upon arrival at the new location. They were patient with rearranging the furniture.

We are predicting that we might move as many as 1,000 members this year and we know that all these moves are not going to be 100% perfect. We are capable of mistakes and would like the opportunity to show you how much you mean to us. As an example, if a move is going slower than anticipated we have the capability to to add men to a job at NO EXTRA CHARGE, to offer discounts, to providing an extra truck at no extra charge. What is most important to us is not the profit margin on any particular job but that our reputation stays at a high level through the course of a year. We cannot help unless you call into the office and give us a chance. There are 5 of us in the office and 2 dispatch managers available. We are all capable of handling and supporting our customers on short notice. They showed up on times and went right to work. A 4 man crew In less than an hour had most of the big furniture removed from the living area while one of the guys started packing the kitchen. My wife is pregnant and I didn't want her packing and moving even in a short distance any boxes. So we were basically completely un packed when they arrived. They had everything on the truck in less than 5 hours. Then getting it all out was much quicker. Plus we didn't have any tricky corners and stairs in the new home as we had in the condo. 2 hours everything was in the right room and the furniture was reassembled where relevant. Nothing broke everything was there. Excellent Job. Would highly recommend.

First the good: 1. The office staff and estimator were very nice and professional 2. There was no damage to either residence or to my belongings 3. The actual movers showed up on-time or early for both the move day and the packing morning 4. Everything was packed with great care(sometimes too great, more on that in a minute) Now the negatives: Packing day - This happened while I was at work and my wife and toddler were home. I had already packed 30+ boxes so they needed to do the kitchen, books, and assorted odds and ends in the other two rooms. My wife asked them to start in two of the rooms so she could keep the baby away from everything and then switch when they were done. They either ignored her or didnt understand English and split up into the entire apartment, one guy in each room. Fine, whatever is quickest. They get to work but my wife noticed that things seemed to be taking a long time. We found out why during the unpack. Moving day - My turn to assist the movers while the wife was at our new home. As I said above, the team showed up about 10 minutes early. I thought this was a good sign. As it turned out, I ended up doing more loading than 2 of the crew members. The foreman was good but the other two guys moved like snails and tended to disappear for extended periods of time. They had an extra dolly so I grabbed it and got things moving. If I had not done this work, the move would have taken hours longer. Anyway, the slow pace continued for the entire move with me providing a good amout of the labor. During unloading, the labeled boxes didnt all make it to the rooms labeled. Not a big deal if it had been done quickly, but considering the pace, I would expect them to at least be in the correct room. Unpacking - When we unpacked we realized why it had taken so long on pack day(other than the fact that they moved like snails). Literally everything we owned in the kitchen was wrapped seperately. Plastic leftover containers were wrapped individually with tons of paper. Our food processor's METAL assesories were taken out of the storage case, wrapped seperately with paper, and then packed into 3 different random boxes. Absolutely everything was wrapped in so much paper, you'd have thought they were protecting the Mona Lisa. I spent just over $2,000 dollars on this move and ended up working harder than 2 of the 3 crew members who moved at a glacial pace for the whole day. They wasted a good amount of time wrapping things that were not breakable and seemed to find ways to move as slowly as possible. For perspective, we moved with another company 1 year ago from a townhouse into the apartment while our new place was being built. Some of our extra stuff went into TWO full size storage units. I emptied the storage units myself for this move. However, even though the other company charged $15 per hour more(Angies list discount) than Campbell, moved twice as much stuff, and had to make two trips from Lorton to Fairfax to get everything, that move was still less expensive than Campbell's due to the Campbell workers riding the clock. Overall, they did a good job and nothing was broken which is a big plus, but the value was subpar due to the lack of speed. Based on the prior move, this one should have been a minimum of $500-$600 less than it was. I really wish there was a local mover that would quote on the job like the big national companies instead of by the hour. Then if the workers take their time and mess around, the customer isnt the one getting ripped off. --Update-- Bill, Thank you for the response. I agree that the total amount paid for the move was less than the initial quote, but as you mentioned, this was entirely due to me putting in a day's work, packing a ton of boxes myself, and providing most of the packing supplies. If I had not been there pushing them, the total would have been more than the estimate. Your labor rates are pretty much identical to the other highly rated movers. I have no complaints about the quality of work your team did since nothing was damaged, but when I can consistently take two loads down the same elevator in the time it takes one of the guys to do one, something is not right. The foreman even agreed with me during the loading process that he didnt know what was taking them so long. The guys put in the time and I paid the rate we agreed on, but based on my experience with the other company(also doing no damage and using the same elevator), and the fact that I moved two full size UHaul trailer loads myself, I just feel that the same work could have been done much faster and cost much less had the guys moved with some urgency. Great job on everything else.

Hello Angie`s List member, We would just like to point out a few things that are confusing us. Wayne Brown is our estimator and did come out to your home for an in-home estimate and here is the estimate and results. 1) Packing estimate was for 5 hours and we billed for 4.5 hours 2) Packing supplies estimate was $297.00 and we billed for $189.00 (we understand you did some of your own packing and approximately 30 boxes) 3) Moving estimate 8.5 hours and we billed for 6.5 hours. (your apparent help did indeed take a couple hours off the estimated time of the move.) We came in more than $300.00 under the estimated cost which equates to approximately 2 hours. The confusion on our end was that all 3 estimates (packing,moving,materials) were below what we represented to you. Sometimes on elevator moves such as yours was,it can appear that the men can "dissappear" as they will be taking furniture down the elevator and then packing/loading the truck. We are glad that you mentioned that you had zero damages on your move. This result takes some time and effort on our part. The men are trained to treat everybody's belongings the same way. It is possible you may not have required the level of safety we work by. The one thing that did stand out on your concerns was the fact that the packers used a lot of paper wrapping plastic and Tupperware. I agree that that is a very legitimate complaint. To be sure we are going to retrain this crew and write them up so to make sure this cannot happen again. Please members, if there are any concerns that you have during a move please call into the office so we can display our ability to support you and correct ANY situation. They were great, they were top notch. I have recommmended them to others. I would use them again in the future. They were highly professional, neat, clean, and organized. Nothing was broke and they put everything where I wanted it. They worked with me on my budget. They were the best price after I reseached competitors. The level of service they gave me was wonderful, it was above and beyond my expectations. Every piece of furnature was professionally wrapped and handeled with care. They were very serious about their work, and did the job quickly.
Description of Work: They moved from a very large home to a much smaller space, it required two trucks and it was an in town move.

I'll say up front that the move didn't go perfectly. But I believe it's just as important to judge a company by how they recover when things go wrong as it is when things go perfectly. Campbell Moving was able to schedule me with only a few days' notice, which was much appreciated. We agreed on a 2-person team with a truck, a charge of 1.75 hours of windshield time (they had to drive from VA to Baltimore) and a truck. The team arrived with a three-person team, but I'd only pay for two of them, and the windshield time would be 2.00 hours. I thought it was a bit odd, but agreed. The team came with a full supply of tape, packing materials, blankets and protective panels & mats to prevent dirt from being tracked into the house. They were very prepared and professional. The truck loading took about an hour longer than I had estimated, but I think it was due to the extraordinary care they took with all my goods. They often repacked/re-taped many of my boxes (I had everything boxed before they arrived) which I appreciated, but didn't think was always necessary. But it was way better than them being cavalier with my stuff. I gave the team written directions to Andrews AFB and the specific gate they had to enter through for the truck inspection. They followed me as I drove out of Baltimore on 295, the shortest route. I was surprised to see in my rearview mirror that they took the I-95 exit. I had already passed the exit, so I lost them entirely. I got to the gate at Andrews AFB and expected to wait for them 15-20 minutes (the truck maxxed out at about 50 mph, I guessed). After about 45 minutes, I got concerned and called the third member of the team whose cell phone I had and also had the best English skills. It turns out that he had the maps and they had dropped him off somewhere along the way for another job. So he tried his best to relay my directions to the guys in the the truck. It turns out the team in the truck had never been on Andrews AFB before -- or any military installation, from the sound of it. So they hadn't been prepped very well and the language barrier made things more complicated. At about the 90 minute point, I ended up placing a call to their office and the fellow I spoke was very concerned and said he'd make some calls and get it resolved as soon as possible. As it turns out, the guys in the truck called me and we were able to determine, despite the language barrier, that they were near the main gate of the base. I drove off to find them, which I eventually did, and they followed me to the correct gate. We ended up losing almost three hours of time, but once we got to the right gate, things went smoothly. The fellows worked very hard, asked questions when they weren't clear on something, and were great to work with. More importantly, nothing got broken (so far -- I still haven't unpacked everything). I have a custom-made solid cherry gentleman's chest that I was very nervous about, but they handled the heavy bugger up and down two flights of stairs with no issues. I chose not to pay them the balance due on the spot, which made the workers a bit nervous, but they accepted it. Instead, I called the office the next day to give them a rundown of the day and to pay by credit card. The agent I spoke was very concerned about what happened -- so much so that I felt I had to put it all in perspective for him: everything got moved that same day, nobody got hurt, and nothing was broken. Regardless, he INSISTED that pay a significantly reduced price for my inconvenience. So the job got done to my satisfaction, with a little bit of inconvenience, and their customer service recovery was excellent. I'd use Campbell Moving again without hesitation.

I can't say enough positive things about Campbell Moving. From start to finish, from the first phone call to the final goodbye after we were unpacked, we have only excellent things to say. Each person on the team is professional, motivated, hardworking, friendly, and always willing to do what the customer wants - even when you change your mind. Moving is not pleasant - this team made it as pleasant as humanly possible. There was a bad storm headed our way for the pack out, so fortunately, Campbell called and arranged to pick up a day early in order to get us to our destination on time. Thank goodness, because the scheduled day would have been impossible with the weather. They got us to our new location with no problems as scheduled. We had the feeling the entire time that Campbell Moving is truly concerned about their customers and their needs. Kudos, kudos, kudos to each and every member of the Campbell Moving team.

Wayne at Campbell Moving was extremely nice on the phone, scheduled a time to come out for an estimate, arrived right on schedule, gave me a great overview and informational packet along with a very reasonable estimate. The crew came in a packed everything extremely thoroughly the day before our move. And when I say thorough, I mean thorough... In the unpacking process I found keurig k-cups that had been wrapped in multiple layers of paper! Needless to say, not a single item was damaged in our move. Moving day went without a hitch and when I had a question, Wayne called me right back to address it. The crew worked their rears off getting all of our furniture and boxes in the house where we wanted them. The grand total of the bill was actually several hundred less than the estimate which made both my husband and myself even happier campers. I would recommend Campbell to anyone, and in fact happily passed their name along to my sister-in-law recently.
Description of Work: Complete packing and moving of a two story, three bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, den, and full basement home into a larger 4 bedroom, two story home.

The movers arrived on time. They did not have sufficient supples to cover certain mirrors and lamps which caused me concern. Not sure if there was miscommunication between the front office and the movers or whether I did not make it clear to the moving company representative (Andy) what needed to be moved. The movers were a bit disturbed by not having the supplies. I provided some items from a prior move and the movers took precautions to minimize the risk of damage. It was a snowy/rainy day and the ground was wet. The movers covered our rugs to minimize dirt from being brought into the house. This effort was truly appreciated. One item (a rug cleaner) was cracked but I took responsibiliity because I let the movers take a short cut through the garage and a laundry room. Trying to turn a 55 inch TV in a confined area, one of the movers stepped on the cleaner and cracked the case. In retrospect, I would have asked that all items be brought through the foyer which had no tight turns.
Description of Work: Arranging the move was not a problem. Campbell personnel were flexible on the date and the movers arrived on time. I had one problem-- the movers did not have sufficient packing material for lamps and certain mirrors. I attribute this to miscommunication between the moving crew and the "front office" or possibly my lack of clarity on what was being moved (furniture and related items from a 2-bedroom apartment). I was worried that some items would be damaged but nothing was broken. The movers minimized dirt/mud and related water from getting on the rugs by covering sections of carpeting before they moved the furniture. I appreciated the extra effort.

Hello member and thank you for your review. Sorry about the cracked rug cleaner. I am happy that all else worked out to be a job well done. As far as the lamps and fragile mirrors, there was a miscommunication about being properly packed prior to our arrival. Sometimes a customer will do a self pack and preperation job to save the cost of our labor and materials. This is fine but we need to know that upon our arrival all fragile items are already boxed as the moving teams don't automatically have a van full of packing boxes and packing paper. With notice when scheduling a move we can have extra materials if necessary for items such as lamps and artwork. These types of items can not just be taken to a truck in moving blankets. I am only typing this so that any future customer is aware of what is expected by our moving teams when a self pack is done for us.
