Description of Work: The job itself was OK. I had to ask them to close up obvious cracks. (That they would have otherwise left without repair ) Some rocks and debris were not cleared properly and subsequently sealed into the driveway permanently. Otherwise, the materials used and then final effect to seal the driveway was overall satisfactory. My issue is not with the work. In fact I probably would not mention anything if it was for my interaction with the salesperson. My main issue was the demeanor of the salesperson who picks up the phone. I had asked him why I was charged $100 more vs a friend who had a similar job. My question was poised in a frame of trying to understand the price difference but his attitude was argumentative, defensive and short. He told me I was “further than the other property”. For purposes of clarity, the other property is in Rockville and I live in Kensington. This sealing company is in Sterling, VA. He also said that his driveway was smaller. I actually took the time to measure both and they are similar in size. (He used google maps). He was pretty quick to tell me how many homes they have sealed in the DMV area (I didn’t ask and it was not relevant to my question ) The point really was moot. In the end, it was my fault I did not get multiple quotes as I had no point of reference. That said, in these uncertain economic times, a service oriented company should be more careful how they speak to clients. Particularly in the age of social media. The salesperson seemed young sounding on the phone. He should know better... There is no excuse for mistreating a paying customer.

+ -1 moreI was not entirely pleased. There are a lot cracks on the driveway they didn’t seal very well. I called them to come back. They came back and patched the driveway and sealed it a 2nd time. The source of the problem was created by the original installer, not Academy, but I feel like they could have done a better job the first time around.

A lot of these places will leave a mess and leave stuff on the sidewalks and grass and stuff. We saw them doing someone else?s driveway and asked them if they wanted to come over and do ours as well.

+ -1 moreWe had good expectations of this company as they had sealed our driveway last summer and they were easy to deal with so, when a postcard arrived in the mail, we followed up by placing an order. We also told them that the price quoted was probably unrealistic for our house. They said that once they came to perform the service they would reassess the price. Given the poor winter weather, we also expected a delay on the time quoted, originally a week/10 days from our first telephone call. Sadly, and despite keeping faith with this company for many weeks, we were fobbed off every time we telephoned to ask what was happening. Eventually we heard back from them that they would not, after all, be able to perform the work.
Description of Work: Gutter Cleaning - we responded to their postcard offering this service for a quote of $75. Service was not performed.

We decided if it's good enough for our neighbor, it's good enough for us, considering our driveway is only 1 car length 2 car width, while our neighbor is a long 30-40 yards. They didnot schedule a date b/c they don't need us to be home, they only said they'll be working on our driveway one day during a certain week. We never saw them, but the driveway looked good and small cracks were filled in.

I called them on a Sunday and was surprised that someone answered. He said they would do it the next day and he would call by eight o'clock in the morning if the could not do it because of rain. They showed up at eight thirty and within two hours they were finished. They did a very neat job and I am pleased with the work.

+ -1 moreI was not happy with the work done, as it was not well explained. I was given the impression that the company would arrive at 9. I waited for an hour, they never showed. When I returned, the driveway was sealed. I contacted the company as I had wanted some cracks treated. My expectation when I set up the appointment was that I could discuss what was to be done and order additional services to achieve my desired results. Unfortunately, when I contacted the company to inquire about the completed work, the individual I spoke with was almost confrontational about my errors as to a specific time appointment, and that their flyer states that cracks of a certain size will remain. I didn't measure the cracks in the driveway. I expected to have professionals show up at my property, discuss my concerns, provide recommendations, and I would then pay for the service. When I realized I wasn't getting anywhere on the phone, I ended the conversation indicating that I was dissatisfied but did not choose to debate it. The individual called me back to berate me for ending the conversation. It was an awful experience. Do not use this company, at least the group in Ashburn..
