We first hired Shenandoah Shutters to provide shutters for all of the windows and doors in our new home shortly before we moved in last summer, then recently hired them to do one more window in the basement after we finished a bedroom. I just love the way the shutters look; we never tire of them. We had shutters in several rooms in our prior home, but had contracted with other companies for that work. The quality of the shutters that Shenandoah Shutters provides is vastly superior to what we had in our other home (I think some of those shutters were manufactured in China). Shenandoah Shutters manufactures their shutters in Richmond, VA, which in addition to requiring less lead time to produce, also saved us some money because we weren't required to pay sales tax. I thought the total price of $28,000 was a bargain for covering 38 windows and 3 doors; they gave us a nice discount because of the size of the order and payment by check instead of credit card (passed the savings on to us). Amy Gordon did a great job taking all the measurements for the windows and doors, and the installation team was led by a great craftsman named Eddie. We couldn't be more pleased with their work and recommend Shenandoah Shutters highly.

The gentleman arrived at our home on time . Was very professional and went about installing the beautiful shutters in the house. Impressed with how efficiently he went about and did the installation of the shutters and cleaned up afterwards. Also it didn't seem to take very long at all . I have used them before and that is why we wanted them to install shutters again. Their product is wonderful , made right on site and you do not see any hardware on the outside like other shutters. I also like that they are made here in Richmond ,VA. and the product is guaranteed. I would definitely recommend them .

Shenandoah is hands-down the best shutter provider in the area. The quality of the shutters is better than anything we've seen in Richmond. They have a patent on a design style that hides the hinges and rounds the corners so the shutter looks like its all part of the molding, rather than a box sitting on top of the window. It's amazing how much that matters! The construction itself is sturdy and the louvers have a substantial feel while still carrying off a modern/stream-lined look we wanted. And the customer service is one of the best of any business we've encountered. Marcia, the sales consultant, even brought us a move-in/welcome basket the week we moved in! She went out of her way to make us feel welcomed in the area. A note about the price: I rated them a "B" because we outfitted our entire home in Texas with a comparable high-end/made-on-site shutter company. The quality was about the same as Shenandoah on construction and customer service, but the painting was much higher quality and the price was about 40% less even with the discount. So we decided after the Shenandoah install to run an experiment. We had the next best shutter provider in Richmond (Mann Kidwell) install shutters on our garage windows. Their shutters are also wood and handmade, but are made in Georgia. Their price is about half the price. Our plan was that if the quality was good enough, we would use them for when we do our upstairs windows. Unfortunately, we didn't think the quality was that great (VERY flimsy and thin with cheap hardware)--okay enough for the garage, but not for the inside where they'd get more use. So...the moral of the story is that it's not Texas where things are so much cheaper, and Shenandoah's quality really is that much better in ways that matter. So, you get what you pay for in Richmond! We will be going with them for the rest of our windows, maybe one window at a time as we can afford it!

They took us into the shop and showed us the process of making the shutters. All hand made-LOCALLY. Lovely experience. One day we will do the windows upstairs too.

This company is fantastic. From the first contact we had with them (visiting their showroom) to the final installation, they are #1 professionals. After we visited the showroom, the salesperson came to our home, showed us a sample shutter, and made recommendations (and gave different styles) for our windows. She promptly sent an estimate, along with several cards of other contractors (we need to have other work done). After we accepted the contract, she made an appointment to come out and do exact measurements. That was on a Tuesday, and the expected wait was four weeks (they are all custom built). On that FRIDAY, she called to say they were ready, and the installers came out less than a week later. We love our new shutters, and every element of this contract could not have been better. They even left a jar of VA peanuts!

This company is a top class act. I interviewed five companies before hiring them. They came right out to measure all the windows, they even put up paper blinds on the windows since the home was new and had bare windows. There was no rush or pressure to make decisions. When they were installed all thirty-seven shutters fit exactly. I received a can of Virginia Nuts as a thank you gift. There was plenty of follow up in the form of mailers and phone calls. Yes, they are very expensive. I don't know but it was into the thousands. I would purchase from them all over again.

I couldn't be more pleased with these shutters! The sales rep was wonderful to deal with, the installation scheduling was professional & the installation was perfect. I highly recommend this company. I love the shutters & had an overall great experience with this company.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. A BIT PRICEY BUT WORTH IT. THE QUALITY IS UNMATCHED. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. THEY COME TO YOUR HOME, DO THE MEASUREMENTS AND MAKE SUGGESTION ON THE TYPE OF SHUTTERS THAT WOULD WORK BEST IN YOUR ROOM.
