+ -1 moreIt was just OK, but not really all their fault. Because of my work schedule, they had to come THAT day. He arrived on time, but it was pouring down rain. He could not do their usual outside work. So the job was probably not their best. I still have ants. Also, there was a communication problem and I was billed from the company and my credit card was also charged from Angie's List, but this was resolved the following month.

+ 0 moreWe had them come out and do the termite inspection. That went very smooth and would use them next year for renewal of the contract. They did a thorough inspection and gave me a report and a warranty. The mosquito option was slightly less smooth. They scheduled 2x and rescheduled due to weather. That I understand, but they were supposed to leave a door hanger or report of some kind that indicated that they were there. That never happened and I have no proof they performed the service. I just have to trust that they did it. Then I got 2 calls for payment. It took some discussion to explain that I paid for that service with the Big Deal. That was resolved and we moved on. The recurring cost for the mosquito treatment was simply 10-15% more than other companies providing that service. I think Southern Pest is a good company and will use them again for other services. I would prefer to use them for the mosquito treatments as well if the cost was competitive with other providers.

+ -1 moreI have now hired this company on a 2 year contractual basis because ants DO NOT die or go away on the first, or even fourth treatment...you need a long-term contract. Southern is very responsive, professional and seemed genuinely concerned about our issue. After multiple treatments (fingers crossed), the problem finally appears to be under control. I'm thankful to have the company on-demand for all future needs.
Description of Work: First used for a one time treatment of an ant problem that won't quit in newly purchased home. Purchased coupon through Angie's List, process worked well...ants live on.

+ -1 moreIt's been a mixed experience. The technician that came out was very professional and knowledgeable. However, following the spraying, we actually saw more bugs than before (although they were different bugs). He actually explained that we may see this, since the treatment may disrupt the bugs. Although I'm not completely satisfied at the moment, I realize that it's not completely the fault of the company. The real results will come a few months down the line. I'll see if I'll stay with them after that point. UPDATE: It has now been two months since the treatment, and we continue to have bugs in the house. The treatment may have been correctly applied, but it certainly did not have a and quot;preventativeand quot; effect. If anything, just the opposite. It looks like we will have to start over, but not with this company.

+ -1 moreI was very pleased. They came next day at the scheduled time. The provider was pleasant and thorough. The mutant ants that had been plaguing me are gone and so far have not returned. I would call them again.

+ -1 moreThey were easy to schedule the appointment with. The Big Deal was for first time customers and we had purchased this deal last year as well. They still honored the deal and even provided us with options to use their services in the future. They treat most of the entire yard and try to concentrate on areas where they think there could be issues. We have a garden and they are careful to not spray into it. They completed the work from our front to our back yard in about fifteen minutes. It was a good experience.

There were a couple of bugs seen a few days after the treatment, but there has been no further evidence of bugs since that point in time.

The treatment took 4 visits in order to get it completely under control, which concerned me. But it was ultimately effective and successful.

However, when Southern Pest Control came out, the service professional charged me $85.00 during the time of the service. So I will need a full refund from Angie's List since apparently, Southern Pest Control did not honor the voucher or was unaware that I had purchased one at all.

We spoke about the purchased service and he verified each step, which involved spraying both inside and outside, and told me not to let anyone walk barefoot in the sprayed areas while drying. Because I have a toddler there were certain areas that I requested not sprayed and he was very understanding. He heavily treated outside and carefully treated inside. We have not had any issues with bugs for a little over a year. I was pleased with my purchase and HIGHLY recommend the company!

The technician was a few minutes early for his appointment and gave us time to finish cleaning up while he started spraying outside. Didn't take very long and we only had to leave the house for an hour after completion. For someone that only wants an insect or bug service once or twice per year, this was a great option.

They weren't too good at spraying the inside, I don't know what they did on the outside because it didn't seem like they did much. The wife and I got in the car and we drove around for 5 or 6 minutes and by the time we got back they were gone. I won't be using them anymore. I didn't spend anything extra.

When he arrived he was very clear about everything he was going to do and how long it would take. + -1 moreWas experiencing problem with small black ants in yard areas close to exterior of house and they had invaded the kitchen (even getting inside the dishwasher, when not in use) on inside of house. In preparation for spraying, took a great deal of time moving furniture and other items away from the base boards of interior rooms and garage for adequate coverage of what was sold as a perimeter spraying. In the kitchen, even removed items occupying lower cabinets. Upon arrival technician, quickly sprayed primarily only corners of rooms including kitchen. Extra attention was paid to kitchen and exterior areas where the ants had been seen. Was advised by the technician a one time spraying may not solve the problem and that Southern did offer a 1yr. pest control service ($386) with unlimited visits. Ants stayed away approximately five days from kitchen before returning in full force. A friend has later recommended liquid ant baits by Terro ($6) which were purchased and the baits have eliminated the ants from the kitchen for a much longer time and have yet to return.

+ -1 moreThe rep who came to the house seemed very nice, punctual, and efficient. I am not sure if he was misinformed or if he was hurrying due to time constraints. Either way, he sprayed the house as requested, but did not do everything the way the coupon indicates. Perhaps they should change the coupon description? I wrote the office representative right after the visit and asked her why we were still seeing ants. She did not reply. We have had successful email exchanges before this one, so I know she receives the messages. That is why I am rating the responsiveness and professionalism as low. Overall the experience was fine, hence my overall rating of Fair. I'd say we got pretty much what we paid for: a deal. I am grateful he didn't try to sell me more than I wanted or needed.
Description of Work: This is what the provider was supposed to do: Here's the Deal:$64 for a preventive one-time interior and exterior pest treatment (does not include rodents) This service will include a one-time treatment to the exterior perimeter of the house, as well as the interior of the home Exterior sweeping of eaves and overhangs for spider webs (first story only - our Technicians do not have nor do they climb ladders). It will helpreduce populations of ants, roaches, spiders, crickets, camel crickets, mole crickets, centipedes, millipedes, silverfish, clover mites and earwigs - Valid for homes up to 4,000 square feet; larger homes can be treated for an additional fee I walked the polite, on time representative through the house, indicating places it was important to spray. He said they will do all the walls (not just exterior) of kitchens and bathrooms upstairs and downstairs, and spray the exterior walls inside and out. He did not spray the inside of the basement however, despite the fact that I requested it. He also did not do the exterior sweep of the home that the coupon includes. I do not believe the office communicates well with the technicians. Perhaps giving the tech a print out of what the client is expecting would help. The tech is supposed to be at each house on the hour, which means he or she can only spend about 1/2 an hour - 45 minutes at each property. Initial visits, in my opinion, may take a little longer since they are entering a home for the first time. Five days later we are still seeing ants, though there is a reduction in number, we are seeing them upstairs, which we hadn't before. The representative told us they are carpenter ants.
