Doug Adams, owner, was very helpful with the initial consultation. During our 1st meeting, he spent time explaining everything to us, inquiring as to our preferences, and offered suggestions as to how to make corrections to uneven parts of the floor and staircase. He went under the house to the crawlspace to inspect the humidity and subflooring.
Doug and his crew were extremely hard working, completing the job in a couple of weeks, which included installation and staining of new stairs. Doug would also send text/photo updates to show progress. They were always very neat and clean as they worked, protecting the floors at all times. Overall, we are very satisfied with the end result and service we received from Adams Hardwood Flooring. Our floors look great and definitely improves the look of the entire house! We intend to finish off another part of the house later on and will definitely use Adams Hardwood Flooring to complete the work.
Love the final look! We had existing hardwood that Doug tied into. Looks really nice and we love the looks of the stairs as well.
Very professional. At the end of each work day, the tools used were put away neatly, contained in one area.
My husband and I both were very comfortable having Doug and Brad in our home.
Mr. Adams was one of three providers interviewed for the work required. His estimate and scope of work needed was mid-ranged and he offered the best hardwood restoration without major construction required by other providers. Mr. Adams is an on-site manager and laborer with his team. His team worked within his quoted schedule on time. At the start of the project, Mr. Adams offered three stain options to cover the stains in the floor. With my friends offering suggestions, he convinced me of the best option. When the work was completed the new stain was amazing, crisp and modern! They removed carpet, tack strips, filled holes, replaced unsalvageable hardwood flooring, sanded, stained and sealed. All debris was removed from site. An amazing restoration!!!
Following hardwood floor restoration, I requested a quote from Mr. Adams to lay porcelain tile in a den. His price was more than fair and he included an attached utility room in his price. It was his idea. First, he needed to remove carpeting and tack strips. Not only did he order and pick up the preselected porcelain tile, but he installed it himself. There were two complications which held the work up. My carpenter was still working in the den and the tile was delayed in shipping. Mr. Adams also had the daunting task to remove a solid concrete step attacked to the concrete floor. That said, he managed to moderate his schedule to finish the job before my move date. In this task Mr. Adams and his team removed carpet materials, debris from site. Then Mr. Adams personally did the underpayment, set and grouted the tile, removed the concrete step. The floor pattern made the rooms look larger and was precise. Again an incredible result!!!
We were particularly impressed with how well they were able to match our existing hardwood floors. In the photo I've uploaded, the downstairs landing and floors are original to the house; Adams Flooring stained and finished the stair treads.
You'll notice I only gave them a "B" for price. That is because, while I certainly feel we got our money's worth, I don't feel entirely able to compare. Most of the pricing information I obtained from the internet: I was only able to get one other actual quote and it was not very detailed. While I made several other contacts, Doug was the only contractor who took the time to talk with me about our needs and show me what our flooring options were.
Doug and his staff were friendly and they got the job done on time and on budget (except for a $52 upcharge for stain which we were told might be necessary in advance). They even repaired a split board on my existing hardwood floor. When I mentioned to Doug that one of our doors was sticking on a new threshold that had been installed, Doug popped by a few days later to shave the door down for us.
We couldn't be happier with the quality of the work or the service.
