Sparkle Drain Cleaning

Our house is older and has some complicated drain issues, so we end up using Sparkle Drain Cleaning every two or three years. They've always been prompt, quick, and reasonably priced and I trust them completely. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

Instead of coming and taking my money, he described exactly what I needed to do to clear the drain myself. It worked! I saved the money and had it cleared before the hurricane. I would definitely call him again!!

Company was quick to respond and did good work.

Called on a Monday. Left a message. They called back in a couple of hours and said they could come by Tuesday afternoon. On Tuesday afternoon, they came in and snaked the main drain, alleviating all of my problems. Would use them again. Satisfied with the work and price.

No worries - if all you do is drains, then you're really, really good at it.

Called Sparkle on Friday morning to request emergency service after I found them on Angie's List. I had called other plumbers based on neighbors recommendations with no success. Sparkles office was able to have someone at the house within 2 hours of my call. The guys that came were fabulous - explained the worst case scenario and the best case scenario for this particular problem. They were very careful to not make a mess and cleaned up thoroughly after themselves. After completing the work (the best case scenario) - they explained what they had found, what they did and how to possibly prevent it from happening again. I would use Sparkles again for future plumbing services.

Great job. Quick to respond and quick to get the job solved. Just a very straightforward job.

They were wonderful. This man has had the company for years. They were just delightful people. They provided a lot of information. Very imformative. I loved him!

Even though not an emergency, they came the same day and quickly solved the problem. Discreet and clean. Friendly and professional.

Overall, it was a very good experience. They were punctual, explained what the procedure was, gave a history of my neighborhood and similar problems, and was honest about whether I would need further services (which I didn't).

With a lot of hand waving he said this is very difficult, I can't possibly do this, its going to be very complicated and you are going to have to remodel the plumbing, it's too complicated and then he left. He was unpleasant, unprofessional and didn't want to do the job for whatever reason. We had another plumber come out from another company and they were here for 15 minutes, fixed the problem and left.

I am very happy with them and my overall experience with them has been good.

Our drains are working fine now. They came the day I called and completed the work within an hour. They were very efficient and professional.

Instead I had a 20-minute conversation with Larry who was very familiar with the sub-division I live in. To make a long story short, rather than selling me a service that I did not need, Larry provided me with valuable information to correct the problem I was having with our toilets. As a consumer I VERY MUCH APPRECIATED his honesty, the sharing of his professional knowledge, and his putting "customer satisfaction" ahead of "making another sale".

They were courteous, on time, and friendly. They were polite. They did there job quickly and very well.

Sparkle Drain, including Larry George Sprankle, their senior plumber, came to our house the next day with five men. I took them downstairs to see the overflow into the bathroom, downstairs hallway, and laundry room. They then began to shout at us that they had properly completed the job they did the day before, while actually standing in the excrement in the hallway that conclusively proved they had not done the job properly at all. (Guy Ferguson, a Master Plumber we hired to clean up Sparkle's mess confirmed that Sparkle had failed to clean out the drain, which Ferguson did successfully two days later.) Sprankle accused my daughter of stuffing the toilet with toilet paper, which was a completely false accusation, and shouted that we would have to pay for another job to clear the drain. I told them I would not pay for another job, and they should complete the job I had already paid them for the day before. Sprankle and Sparkle Drain Cleaning not only refused to fix their failure to clean out our drain the day after they had supposedly cleared it, but loudly and menacingly berated us and verbally abused us because it was still clogged and excrement had run out all over the bathroom and hallway floor. Sprankle said we would have to pay for another cleaning, though we had given them a check for $340 the day before for the same job. I had to order the men out of our house when five bellowing big men from Sparkle stood in the excrement and terrified our daughter and her baby, who live in the room next to the downstairs bathroom. Four of the men immediately left and went outside to their truck. As he continued to shout as he left, Sprankle demanded the return of his shoes that he had taken off at our front door, and my daughter tossed them to him, hitting his chest. I was an eyewitness just a few feet away, and the shoes came no where near his head. We stopped payment on the $340. check I had written the day before for the work Sparkle failed to do. In March, 2011, Sprankle's lawyer threatened to sue us for $1,835 in damages for dental work on Sprankle's rotten teeth that he said was caused by the shoes my daughter had thrown back to him. (There was no relation between his dental work and the shoes that hit him on the chest.) I immediately wrote back that if he sued, we would countersue him for breach of contract, and intentional infliction of emotional distress on our daughter and her baby. I have heard nothing further from Sprankle and his lawyer since. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

Called on a Sunday morning, and they showed up on a sunday morning, fitting me in to their emergency calls. Shower drain was snaked out with a power snake - clearing was successful (and fairly quick). No particular cleanup - reassembly was complete, and they tested the work. Kitchen sink drain was a lot more work for them. They tried to clear this for about 30-45 minutes - got a lot of snake run down the drain, but was unable to clear the blockage. They did good lay-out to keep this from being a mess or damaging anything. A good, honest effort - it just failed. The lead guy (Larry) of the team had some recommendations and advice for me as to how to deal with the situation. I think his advice was exceptionally honest and useful. I'd use them again in a minute.

We've used Sparkle Drain Cleaning several times. They are on-time and professional. This time we only needed one drain unclogged, but we've had them take care of several issues over the years. I will definitely use them again.

We have previously gotten great service from Sparkle on two occasions, and have previously written a positive review. Upon hearing from a tenant about a clogged drain, we naturally reached out to Sparkle again. Today, however, upon asking if we could send payment via check after service or have the tenant pay on the spot (as we have day jobs, couldn't get there ourselves, but didn't want to delay service for the tenant), the man from Sparkle went into a rant. Rather than just politely declining our business, he raged about people in the real estate business - reciting all the bad experiences he's had with people who aren't there to pay him on the spot,. He mentioned that he has a plumber friend who is owed a million dollars, which may explain why he wants payment on the spot, but certainly has nothing to do with us. Perhaps we've just been lucky, as this was by far the most unprofessional response we've ever gotten from anyone found on Craigslist.

After the hurricane, I noticed that the walkout stairs had flooded. I called Sparkle. The guy who did the scheduling wasn't super friendly but very down to business. I called later to change the phone number and was greeted by a very friendly lady. I think I just called too early for her to be in the office the first time. Anyway, Larry and (Danny??) came out the day after calling for an appointment. This was a Saturday, which was quite nice. They attempted to snake the pipe because based on the age of my house, that drain should be tied into the main sewer line. The initial snaking did clear the stairwell of water but when they washed down the well with water from the hose, it trickled slowly down. Unfortunately, the snake wouldn't extend more than about 20 feet. They tried a second (larger) snake to no avail. He had no idea what was causing the blockage. It wasn't dirt/leaves. They recommended I call a plumber to figure out what is going on. They recommended if it was a decision of ripping out the basement floor to find the problem with the pipe or installing a sump pump, they recommended the cheaper and less messy option of the sump. They were incredibly helpful and explained everything they were doing in addition to different drainage systems.

I am completely satisfied with the services they provided, including the advice of the other work I needed to have done.

In preparing to write a check for his services, Larry quoted me $185.00, which took me by surprise!! I expected to pay him upwards of $350.00. He explained the kitchen sink drain did not require clearing, thus, he was charging me for the sink. Now, that's an honest business man! I highly recommend his services. He's a delight to work with. One thing to note is his service is specialized. While Sparkle Drain Cleaning is listed under "Plumbing," in Angie's list, he does not provide plumbing services, which makes things easy!

Sparkle was scheduled for Monday, arrived the day before after calling to see if it was OK - they were on another job in the area. Checked drain from outside (roof) and inside, used power snake to clear, offered detailed instructions on how to avoid future blockages. Very professional, cleaned up after job was done. Would use again without hesitation.

The gentlemen from Sparkle were very prompt. They explained what they were goign to do. They took over my bathroom and went to work. They accomplished a difficult drain cleaning as I had hoped. The one thing I didn't care for was they left sprayed gunk that came from the drain on my walls for me to clean up. I thought the price was excessive for 30 minutes of work but they did a good job.
