Description of Work: Prices were competitive with local area. Quality is hard to judge on repairs you can't see, but since the muffler was replaced (I can hear that) and the problems were fixed so I'm good with the quality. It's the responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism that will have me return if I need repairs. I took my vehicle in early Saturday afternoon knowing they closed at 4 and weren't open on Sunday. They called me on Monday with an estimate and repairs were done on Tuesday. All work done was clearly explained before I authorized it and when I picked up my vehicle and it was detailed on the receipt. They did a really good job for me.

Description of Work: Pleasant and responsive. I have only one complaint, but it brings it down to a "B" in my opinion as it would cause me to not return. I bought the used car inspection and the person who owned the car I wanted to buy agreed to bring her car there. I expected a full inspection. They didn't call me with the report until after they had finished the inspection and the owner had driven away. The report had some good information but then it had the following broad and unhelpful statements: "FURTHER ASSESSMENT OF THE BATTERY, CHARGING SYSTEM, COOLING SYSTEM, AND ALIGNMENT READINGS ARE RECOMMENDED." Did the air conditioning work or was it just not covered by the inspection? Same question for the rest of it. I called right away but the person who had performed my inspection had left for the day and I had to let the owner know that evening. I got the impression that might be standard language in the report. We are still glad we got the inspection as it helped us to decide not to buy the car (Skyline noted evidence of multiple collisions and subferior repair work). I'm thankful for that, but had there not been other problems I would have been at a loss as to how to interpret those statements.

Description of Work: They replaced various sensors and the catalytic converter relating to my "check engine light". They also did additional work for my car to pass the safety inspection. They were very helpful and professional, and found parts quickly for my 2001 Corolla, but I felt that the price was very high. They claimed the candlepower of the front headlights was too low to pass the safety inspection due to corrosion on the plastic, which they cleared up for $120. Did it really get so much worse in a year that it passed last year but not this year? In addition, after driving the car less than 100 miles more, the check engine light just came on again last week. Will review again after bringing it back in...

 + -1 moreBrought car in for horrible squealing sound. They determined the car needed new rear brakes. Told me the front breaks also could be replaced, but not as urgent. I opted just to replace the rear, service was performed on the spot while I waited. Took little over an hour. Friendly staff. I am happy with the service.

 + -1 more***Update, November 30 2010*** A week or so after my original post below, I was contacted by my service representative at Skyline, who wanted to set things right. They called and said that they would re-examine my vehicle at no additional charge, and would even refund me $100! When I brought the vehicle back into Skyline, they attended to it right away and were sincerely apologetic about the whole episode. I've lived in the Northern Virginia area for six years, and never, never received customer service this good, period. Simply said, the team at Skyline has set the bar very high in terms of customer service. I was quite steamed over the whole thing, but the way they resolved the problem was completely to my satisfaction. There are nice people left in the D.C. area, and they work at Skyline Automotive. A+ guys, thank you so much for what you've done. - Original Posting - I've used Skyline before, and they have always fixed the problem. This time, however, not only did the problem not get fixed after a $1400 bill, they performed work on the car we did not authorize. When I took the car in, the service rep gave me an estimate for $1200 based on what they had found upon a diagnostic test. The service rep also told me that we could replace the timing chain for an additional $100 and no additional labor charge. I asked whether or not this work would correct the diminished gas mileage we were experiencing, and we could not get a straight answer from him. I was told repeatedly that the "code coming from the diagnostic computer indicates a problem with the engine timing". So after a few days thought, we called back and authorized the repair, without replacement of the timing chain since it was still serviceable. When we finally heard back from Skyline that the repair was completed, we were given a bill of over $1500. It was at that point we learned that they had replaced the timing chain, when I told them specifically they were not to replace it. While Skyline agreed to take off the shop charges from the bill, we still ended up having to pay for the work I specifically did not authorize. We have had the car back for two weeks, and the "maintenance required" light in my wife's car is back on, and our gas mileage has not improved. While I have been pleased with the work Skyline has done for me previous to this job, I will not be returning to Skyline. They were not forthright with me, they performed work I specifically told them not to do, and the work they did has not fixed the original issue.
