They came out the same day (Saturday) for an emergency pipe burst, after the temperatures had dropped well below freezing. I called that morning and around 7pm a girl came out, and worked until about 11pm to fix the burst pipe and replace the outside hose nozzle. The service was outstanding.

Saved a bathroon faucet replacement job I started and was unable to finish. Long man was a real pro. Showed me the errors I had made, showed me eaiser was to do the job, provided the part I didn't have and completed the work in less than an hour. Two hours and 30 minutes from the time I called until the job was done. A bit pricy but worth every penny.

They called before they came, and arrived when they said they would arrive. The plumber was knowledgeable, pleasant, answered my questions, and showed me the cause of the various issues he was called to my house to fix. He cleaned up after the work and did the work in a timely fashion. He provided the prices ahead of time.
Description of Work: Removed old kitchen sink faucet and separate spray hose and replaced with a new single handle pull-down hose type faucet and soap dispenser (We provided the faucet and soap dispenser). Removed and replaced a leaking shut off valve for a toilet. Troubleshot and discovered the nature of a leak on an inside wall that led to the basement. Removed the toilet and found the broken wax gasket seal. Replaced that and re-installed the toilet.

I had actually written a review earlier when Mike came out on a Saturday evening and found a root growing through my sewer cleanout. At that time I believed my Home Warranty would cover it and I said I'd call them back if it did not. Of course after much run around from the home warranty company, they do not cover roots. I called Long's back and they scheduled Lawrence and Zach for Monday afternoon. I cannot say enough good things about these two gentlemen. They were patient and diligent in working through the sewer line and answered all my questions about the process. They snaked the main line and cam'ed afterwards. They did come back the next day when it was discovered the root had also caused a backup in an additional part of the sewer line, but they didn't even charge me for that work. Lawrence and Zach would only use the back door because they didn't want to get the house dirty. They cleaned up after themselves and were just nice. As a female I often have to deal with "attitudes" from guys thinking I am not worthy of any explanations. Not so with these guys. I already told them they had been added to my smartphone contact list and since I do need my cleanout replaced, I will work with Long's to get that done. I will write a separate review about that major upcoming work, but I fully expect it to go smoothly - despite the 12' hole required.

They had done the work 2 weeks prior to the toilet issue arising again Tip: Even for simple plumbing issues related to a toilet, always use someone from the plumbing category, not handyman. I'm sure My Hunny Do is fine with any other handyman type services - painting, etc. The charge I thought was really expensive but I think this is just standard. A real find would be knowing a great trusting handyman and I just don't have the connections to find one.

I had what I thought was a backed up toilet with it also causing a backup into my shower pan. It was a Saturday and I called many of Angie's A-rated plumbers in the area to see if they could come. Long's was the only company that was super nice on the phone and came through for me. They promised they would come out and would call me when they were of their way. Sure enough they did and Mike was great during the service call. Unfortunately my problems are much worse and I need to submit through my home warranty. I will not hesitate to use Long's again.

The plumber quoted me $322 to fix leaky a shower head and another $225 to fix a leaky toilet tank. I asked how long it would take and he said less than 45 minutes. When I pointed out that the price amounted to more than $600 an hour, he shrugged and pointed to his "book" of standard prices. I authorized him to fix the leaky shower head, which he did in a few minutes. The next day I noticed that the shower head was still leaking as much as before, so I had to call the company back and take more time off work a few days later. I was informed that the same plumber (Laurence) would arrive for the "first appointment" of the day at 9am. At 8:30am on the appointed day, the company called and said he was on his way. More than an hour later, at 9:45am, still no plumber so I called the company back, but they said they could not reach him on his cell phone. At 10:00am, Laurence finally showed up and re-fixed the shower head. But, he said he had no caulk with him on the truck to re-caulk the area around the handle that he had removed to make the fix. So, I supplied some caulk for him to re-caulk it. Will not use this company again.

About a week after Thanksgiving, the cold water hose to our wash machine burst, due to corrosion at the valve, flooding the first level of our townhouse. After replacing the hoses ourselves, the valves were still leaking, so we looked up emergency plumbers on Angie's List and came across Long Corp. They were immediately available to fix the valves and also made sure the hoses were on correctly. Everything was done quickly and correctly and we were very happy. Will definitely call them again for future plumbing issues!

We've now had Long Corp. out to our home three times. The first time we used Long Corp (Summer 2010), they re-soldered a pipe that had been leaking in our upstairs bathroom. They were so knowledgeable and responsive that we haven't considered another plumber since. The second time they came out in summer 2012, they installed a new hot water heater. The technician was skilled and patient with our incessant questions about what he was doing and how to maintain the new water heater. The most recent time we had Long Corp. out (December 2013), we had a leak in the drain pipe in our kitchen. Sherry was great to work with and replaced the leaky pipe. After all of that, we still won't consider using another plumber in our home. Long Corp. is professional, on time and does great work!

Moved into our house 6 months ago. We had bad odor coming from drain in master bathroom. Sherry came and checked and cleaned the drain. Smell is gone (one month later). She also showed me how to clean the drain. I also signed up for inspection of all plumbing systems. Sherry was really nice and very patient with my questions. I am a new homeowner so I had lots of questions and she was willing to answer all my questions. I also have three small children who were very interested in what she was doing and she was very kind to them, which I appreciated. Awesome job. Will definitely call again. No hesitation in recommending Sherry. She is very knowledgeable and competent.

Was it Jim Morrison who sang "No gets out of here alive"? Well, no one gets out of sewer line work for cheap. Quality is the key. And Long's is your answer. They came, they snaked, they dug. It cost a lot but I'm much happier having forked over my hard-earned cash to professionals like Sherry, Teresa and the crew with confidence than to the sketch dudes proposing bids 30-40 percent higher. We've had a several major crappy sewer line problems totaling almost $30k. So, I'm now almost a certified expert in line clearance and repair. I wish I'd called Long's three years ago. We've called emergency plumbers several times, each charging a minimum of $400-600 to snake , unclog debris and run a camera. When the BIG problems (tree root damage) came into play, excavation was required at $6000 (those rates can go up quickly from there based on pipe length and complexity of the dig). This last incident was a collapsed orangeburg pipe BEYOND the previous full sewer line excavation and replacement from 18 months ago. Arrgh! This required a $19,000 excavation below the street and sidewalk?.tacking on massive costs for permits and asphalt replacement. Long's took care of it end to end. Long's showed up for a non-emergency snake, camera and estimate the day after I called. Sherry went above and beyond two previous companies' efforts, breaking through the clogging debris AND clearing hefty collapsed pipe debris further down. She marked the damage spots and got measurements for an excavation estimate. Her work cleared the line well enough to get another month of regular use before the big dig would start. So huge points to Long's for having experienced personnel and good customer service going above and beyond. The dig was designed to minimize displacement and costs. Two deep holes were made (yard and street) then the crew burst out the old pipe while feeding new replacement pipe in. All done in a day. The alternative to this approach would have been a massive, deep 10-16' ditch. A secondary paving crew arrived later to do a VDOT-required finished pave -- a massive part of the expense. Overall, this was a totally professional and courteous crew. The intrusion was minimal. I can't say enough good things about Long's. They did a lot to ease the pain of this kind of major work. [Note for home buyers and Fairfax County residents: This work occurred in a 1950s-era development. Every month, someone in the neighborhood is replacing decayed or tree-crushed orangeburg sewer pipe. We did not think to inspect the sewer line as part of our home purchase inspection. Knowing what I do now, I'd demand it for any future purchase of a home older than 25 years. Also, In most every other place in America, the county/city takes responsibility for sewer lines at the sidewalk and beyond. in Fairfax, the HOMEOWNER is responsible for the ENTIRE sewer line from the home to the sewer main. Again, another hard lesson of homeownership in NoVa. I hope this helps someone else!]

The visit went very well, Sal checked out the faucet, thought at first it was a dirty aerator but that was not the problem. The faucet had just been installed a year ago. He replaced the faucet at no charge and then replaced the shut off valves under the sink as they were showing their age. Water is flowing well. Very polite, very nice young man.

work was done very quickly and professionally; there have been no problems resulting from the work performed; cost charged for work performed seemed high (even with use of $25 Angie's List coupon); ended up finding much better plumber arrangement (equivalent workmanship with much better charging rates) for subsequent plumbing work by source other than Angie's List

This is an follow-on review from August 27th. Sal- the original plumber came out on the 8/27 to find the water issue that was coming through our ceiling. He spent only a few minutes in our house, and misdiagnosed the problem. Needless to say- we were not happy. The water issue continued and we called back to the Long Corp and asked for a different plumber to come out to complete the repair. They had a plumber at our house in less than 2 hours. Sherry showed up- she was professional, very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. She took the time to show us what the issue was, how it happened and what was needed to be done to correct the problem. She repaired the faucet in the shower and asked if we had any other issues. I mentioned that the kitchen sink had a leak and she took a look, found he problem and told us that our faucet (Kohler) should still be under warranty- she called the Kohler company right then and was able to get a faucet sent to us free of charge. This is the service I remember 2 years ago when we called for a busted water pipe. Though I was very unhappy with the original plumber (Sal), it was great to be able to contact the company and have them stand behind their work and send out, what I am sure has to be one of their best plumbers. I will continue to use the Long Corp and request Sherry for any future work.

The plumber arrived at the beginning of the service window, assessed the project, and told me that the limited access and duct-work would probably force him to cut into the drywall in the basement beneath the kitchen. (This would also cost extra, as the over-the-phone estimate didn't take into account our complicated layout) He worked for several hours and was able to avoid cutting into the drywall, which was great. He connected the water to the fridge, talked me through what he'd done, cleaned up thoroughly, and was gone. An excellent experience, even if it did cost me a little more than I had expected.

We had a leak in our shower that came through our breakfast room ceiling. We called and made a next date appointment. "Sal" showed up at 5:05 and took a look at the ceiling and then went upstairs to look at the shower. He came back down and asked for a ladder (surprised he didn't have one). He said he would have to cut a hole in our celling, as he could not tell where the leak was coming from. He cut a good size hole in the ceiling and decided after about 3 minutes that there was no leak-our shower just needed to be caulked- and he didn't do the caulking- told us that we would have to do that ourselves and was out of the house in less than 20 minutes. He told us we had to pay a $150 charge instead of the $89 service charge, because he "did research".(And he left all of the wet drywall on top of our china cabinet) So for $150 we got a hole cut in our ceiling, and a trip to Walmart to buy our own caulking...and I'm not even sure that caulking is what the problem is. We used this company about 2 years ago and they were great- but today was terrible- we will look elsewhere for our plumbing needs.
