Jim the Handyman

Very well. I had 2 different guys. The first one (too bad I can't remember his name but he was great) fixed the bedroom door and the closet door. Professional, friendly, neat, and the repairs looked good. The second guy, Franco, re-caulked 2 showers, and installed a house number and a water hose hanger on a brick wall. He was on time, professional, neat, checked with me to make sure he understood exactly what I wanted, did a great job.

The work done was very good. We went back and forth over whether to install a vinyl or wood railing, finally settling on wood. I asked them to match what was existing on my porch. The handrail matched well, but the balusters were made from a lower grade wood with visible knots and defects, where the existing was clear pine. The handiwork on the railing was excellent. It is too bad they didn't spend a few more dollars on materials. The painting was good, although they failed to fill in dings and nail holes on my existing porch. Again, how much time does that take to go from a good job to an excellent job? After I wrote the above, someone came out from JTH to apply putty to the defects in the balusters and fill in the holes on the existing porch, then he re-painted. He was most kind about making it right. I pointed out to him that the painters painted around things on the porch that could have been easily removed, meaning some paint got on the door knocker and on the natural brick face of the house. There was also some spillage that I noticed after the job was done. We would not use them again for a painting job; we might consider for carpentry.

I have been raving about Jim the Handyman to all of my friends and family! I desperately needed my master bathroom shower corners and around the pan re-caulked. I also needed new peel and stick tile laid in my guest bathroom where I had builder grade 1990s vinyl tile. Jim the Handyman did an estimate with a reasonable price. The installer showed up on time, was friendly, professional, worked hard and did a beautiful job on both things. I will be using them again for other jobs. It is hard to find a good handyman, especially one who will do the smaller jobs and be reasonably priced. I highly recommend them. Give them a call!!

This is the second time I am using their services. Neal did an amazing job. He was on time, professional and courteous. He answered all my questions. I am very pleased with the work done. He also addressed and fixed an additional small gap next to the seal. The company was very flexible in working with me to setup an earlier appointment by putting me on a wait list for a confirmation.

We had 3 different crews from Jim's perform work on our house. 1 crew performed mostly carpentry work (interior base trim and a wood ship lap wall) and provided very high quality work. 1 crew painted in the nursery and did not put protection over our windows and got paint on our blinds that had been installed 3 days earlier. 1 crew painted our bathroom and did not put protection down and we had tiny paint specs all over our toilet / sink / shower. Additionally it appeared only 1 coat of paint with no primer was done since the old blue paint showed through the new paint in over 30 locations (the bathroom is 5' x 5'). Jim paid to replace our blinds and have the bathroom cleaned, but even when they sent the painter back out to repaint the bathroom there were paint spots on the toilet and sink again from them painting. At that point it was not worth further arguing and we were glad just to have the work done. I would recommend Jim for carpentry work based on my experiences, but I would not recommend them for any painting work. Go to an actual painter for that.

The project went very well and I would recommend Jim the Handyman for any of a homeowner's maintenance projects. The crew arrived on time, did the work expected and the work performed was excellent in quality and price. I was given a $200 discount off the price quoted as I painted a door that had been included in the estimate. This is not the first time I used this contractor and will use them again for other home projects that I am unable to do myself. They are an A+ contractor.

Staff quoted, scheduled, we soent tons of money in paint, staff showed up and said they didn’t like the amount of time quoted for job and would deliver satisfactory work for the amount in contract and just drove away. Attempts to contact owners fruitless

Everything went very well. The cost included an additional (unexpected) $100 in supplies but the rails look great. The estimate seemed very thorough, so the additional cost caught me off guard, considering someone came out to view job before the estimate and the additional cost came into play before the techs arrived to complete the work.

My experience with Jim the Handyman was great from start to finish. They responded to my initial inquiry promptly, sent someone to thoroughly assess the necessary work, and then met and exceeded my expectations when completing the work. I needed several repairs to set of French doors. One company wanted to replace the entire door set for $3500. Jim the Handyman did only the necessary work for $285. I appreciated not only the quality of the work, but the honesty about what was required. I'll now use Jim the Handyman for a variety of projects around the house when they come up. Kudos!

Igor did an excellent job repairing a number of rotted window frames. Very conscientious & thorough. I would highly recommend Jim the Handyman.

A rep from the company came to take an estimate. Said it'd be a couple of days before I'd hear about an estimate. No estimate was ever sent. Tried to contact the company a week later. Left a message and no response.

Hector and his son were absolutely FABULOUS! They really went above and beyond what I was expecting - fixed everything perfectly, had me inspect each area after work was completed, very friendly and professional workers. Hector is a drywall "artist". Very nice to have someone who knows how to do drywall the right way! I will definitely request Hector the next time we need services. A+++

Brian came out to figure out how we could change the configuration of our bed frame which did not conform to our new mattress. We spent tons of time figuring out how to re-configure the bolts that did not easily conform. (I was having back problems from the sagging mattress.) Brian was excellent in figuring out how to re-construct the frame and listened to all my concerns. When his assistant, Aaron, came at my request because the new King-size mattress could not be moved by one person, we were in business. Both men solved the problem with expertise and efficiency. It took longer than they expected (which I suspected it would), but the results were absolutely to my satisfaction! Brian, in particular, was awesome -- he knew exactly what was needed. I have been a past customer of Jim the Handyman and have been recommending them to friends. But this job put them at the head of my list of people to hire for a difficult job!

Brian replaced door knob and patched cabinet wall efficiently. Medicine cabinet replacement took two visits due to size differential between new and old cabinets but he was able to fit new cabinets. A well done job.

It went fantastic. I thought I would need a whole new cabinet but Brian, who used to be a cabinet maker, fixed it perfectly saving me about 3 times compared with what they charged. Now it glides in and out silently. I trust Jum the Handyman service people with everything I would need. They are efficient and friendly. Always clean up and the price at $95 an hour is more than reasonable. Very professional.

Brian did excellent work on a somewhat difficult job. He was careful and patient, knowledgeable and friendly. I would ask for his services again in the future.
