A-1 Garage Door

I called on a Thursday morning and received same-day service which is FANTASTIC, especially during this particular season. I spoke with a very pleasant woman who set up my service visit. She explained that she would be sending Charles out to my house between 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Charles did not arrive until 4:00, but his pleasant demeanor and expert knowledge of garage doors made him worth the wait. Charles was very polite and professonal. He is very respectful and displays excellent manners. His servicing of my garage door was quick and to the point. He was finished in 30 minutes. I had a fantastic experience with A-1 Garage Doors of Alexandria, VA and I would gladly hire them again! Thanks, Charles. :) ,

I called a few places on Saturday morning to see about an estimate and they were at my house within a few hours. Approximately 30 minutes later they had repaired and made the door work better than it ever has. They also called the next day to ensure I was happy with the work. Again, professional company all around.

Excellent experience. The office was very responsive and stayed in frequent communications. We were having problems with one of our garage doors opening only intermittently. Charles came out and first recommended just a tune up to see if that would help. It seemed to help but after a couple of weeks, the problems came up, and even worse. I called and asked if they would credit the cost of the tuneup towards the replacement of the motor, since when I initially called them, they had two deals on Angie's List - one for tune up and one for motor replacement with tune up, and I was not sure which one to purchase at the time. Since they recommended the tuneup, but then I ended up needing the motor replacement, I felt it was fair to be credited the tune up amount towards the motor replacement. They were willing to do that, which I really appreciated. Everything is working well now. I will be calling them when my second motor starts failing.

The entire service was excellent and I was very satisfied with the work done and the obvious attention to detail by the management to assure the service was fully performed to my expectations.

Charles arrived on time, introduced himself. Asked if we were having any problems and started the maintenance work. He changed all the door rollers, lubricated all joints and the door opener. Checked for proper operation when he finished. Work done professionally and work site cleaned before he left the job. Would definitely use their service again and would recommend them to other homeowners.

The rollers for the garage door fell off the track, and the garage door could not be closed. When A-1 was called, the repairman came in two hours, replaced needed parts, checked the operating system. The door is working smoothly since this vist. A-1 provided courteous, professional service, and they knew what they were doing -- unlike the previous company we hired to repair the door.

Was a great experience from the day they did the appraisal to the installation of the new door. Prompt, quick, efficient and clean...all in all a very professional job!!

From start to finish, it was excellent service. I was able to get a technician to come out to my house after work on the day I called, which was great because I had not been using the garage for fear of making it worse. The technician, Charles, was prompt and very courteous. He looked at the crack, and since it was on a joint he was able to fit it back together and put a metal brace on it as a repair. His work was meticulous, and he did an exellent job on the repair. He was very complete in his inspection of the door - so much so that he noticed the other garage door that had been repaired in a similar fashion, but not nearly as well - so he replaced that brace too. His handiwork was a huge improvement to the original fix on the other door. Before he left, he looked at both doors, adjusted the tracks a bit as needed, sprayed WD 40, and checked to make sure both doors were working properly. I was very impressed with the level of service I received from this company, and I am sure both of my garage doors are in better condition now than they were before! The icing on the cake was that this was all completed for a very reasonable service fee. I had expected to have make an emergency purchase of over $1000 for one or possible two new garage doors - but Charles has repaired the door so that I now have some time to decide on replacement doors. When the time comes, I will make the purchase with A-1 based on their superior service. I am so happy with this company, I can't say enough good things about them.

I purchased the deal for garage door tune-up. By the time i made the appointment, my doors were very loud and squeaking when opening and closing. I had a mix up the first time I tried to make an appointment, but Charles was very gracious and was right on time. He tuned up both doors and now I can hardly hear when the doors are opened. I would use them again.

Charles was prompt when he arrived to give us an estimate. He explained differences in the doors and answered our questions. Once we decided on a color and style he provided an estimate on the spot. Once we decided to use A1 an appointment was set up and Charles was on time. The work was completed in a timely manner and was very professional. The finish product was great, the doors worked as expected and Charles cleaned everything before he left. Overall this was a great experience and we would recommend A1 to anyone.

We bought one deal but we have two openers and two doors so he completed both for an additional charge that was very very reasonable. The technician was very prompt courteous and professional. We would definitely have him back if we require service in the future and would certainly recommend them to others.

This small company is the epitome of professionalism, timliness and responsiveness. Within 24 hours, my problem was diagnnosed, and installation completed. Fair pricing, courteous, I immediately referred them to a neighbor.

A-1 was timely for both the estimate and the installation. Charles arrived about 15 minutes early for the installation, installed the door and made sure everything was cleaned up and in order before hauling away the old door. He made sure to tell us to call if we had any concerns about the installation or operation of the new door. We haven't had any. A-1 telephoned a few days after the installation to check on us and ensure we were satisfied with the installation. We are. We recommend you consider A-1 if you are looking to replace your garage door.You won't be disappointed.

Charles expertly serviced my garage doors, and I am extremely satisfied.He was patient while I checked the doors. He thoughtfully placed a label with his company contact information on my garage wall above the garage door openers.

When our garage door spring broke at 6:45 in the evening on a Thursday, I went to Angie's List to find a contractor. A-1 Garage Door had a perfect 28 of 28 ratings and 24-hour service. I called and left a message and had a return call within 2 minutes. I was quoted a price of $270.00, which I thought was reasonable for after-hours service. I was told the technician would arrive within 2 hours. Charles arrived on time and 45 minutes later I had a working garage door. He also sprayed down all the rollers making the door quieter in operation than it had been in years. Charles is professional, polite and competent. When the garage door was failing to close reliably 2 days later, Charles came out and added a bracket to stabilize the door rail which solved that problem. Although unrelated to the original problem, Charles did not charge for the return visit.

Charles work was excellent -- he was on time, and did a great job with the installation. What was equally impressive was his office help -- they called to confirm the appointment, to confirm the work being done, the called after the job was done (same day) to make sure we were statisifed and she called back a couple of days later to make sure everything was working ok -- great customer service and excellent work on the gargage door openers.

A-1 was prompt, extremely neat, and charged a very reasonable price. I was definitely impressed with the service and the work, and I would certainly recommend them to anyone for garage door work.

I needed a garage door company to either repair or replace my garage door (being a layperson, I was not sure which service would be needed); two lower panels were slightly dented. On Thursday, 7/21/2012 I contacted A-1 Garage Door after searching Angie's List. A very engaged, and pleasant representative answered the call and agreed that Charles would come to the site between 1pm and 2pm the same day. He arrived after 2pm due to having directional troubles. He analyzed the door and panel condition, and made measurements. He explained that replacement of the two panels could be done. He provided an estimate of $300, agreed to also include replacement of the garage door remote; and stated that the work could be performed the following Monday. He was pleasant and professional.

Arrival was right on time. I was ready to do some cleanup after the doors, rails, and sensors were removed but was told not to bother and that cleanup would be taken care of. The doors were exactly what we expected. Installation seemed to go very fast and opening or closing both doors at the same time is about one half the noise of opening/closing one of the old doors. The installation was smooth and the whole area was cleaned up. It looked as good as the day we moved in. These doors and this company is the way to go and we highly recommend them. I would not hesitate to deal with them in the future. JOB WELL DONE!!

Very pleased with the work done and their overall responsiveness.

We desperately needed new garage doors and called three different companies (from Angie's List) for estimates. The first company told us we didn't need insulated doors and gave us a doable estimate. Second company insisted we needed insulated doors (we have a DETATCHED garage) - their estimate came in high. When Charles from A-1 Garage came over, he gave us the lowest estimate and said we didn't need insulated doors. I don't know anything about garage doors and typically believe "you get what you pay for" and wasn't leaning toward A-1 Garage but then Abbey in his office followed up within a few days and asked if I had any questions. I really appreciated the good customer service and decided to go with the "little guy" instead of the big name companies with the impressive looking estimates and trucks. And I couldn't be happier. Not only did Charles provide the estimate, he also did the work. We had to special order the doors we wanted but they were in within a week and Abbey called to schedule the installation. The entire process took maybe 2 weeks. Charles was polite, meticulous, professional and a HARD WORKER. He obviously knows what he is doing and does an excellent job and cleaned up everything afterward. Our doors are beautiful and the service we received was stress-free. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Charles for a job well done.

I got four different estimates, and they were by far and away the most reasonably priced. Abby in the office was very sweet and followed up frequently before and after install to see if we were happy and needed anything. The installation took approximately 4 hours; much faster than I expected. They were polite and cleaned up afterwards. I would definitely recommend them. I cannot emphasize enough how much cheaper they were than other people and they did a marvelous job....beautiful door.

I called A-1 Garage Door to repair a garage door and they were able to come out the next day which I appreciated very much. Charles assessed the situation and quickly resolved the problem. He didn't recommend any unnecessary work and gave us a full status report of the entire garage door system. He was very knowledgeable of garage door systems and how they work.Charles and Abby (in the office) were very professional and we appreciated their follow-up phone call to see if we were satisfied with their service. They are our "go to" garage door company.

We called at 7 am. Lady in the office said she would check and call right back to confirm. She called right back. Set appt for 12:30. Called to say they'd be 30 min late -- coming from a job across the county. Got there around 1 pm. Showed up, replaced the broken spring, tuned the opener up a bit. Finished in about 30 minutes. Its now working smoother and quieter than ever. Charged what they quoted over the phone. Told us how to adjust the opener in the winter went it sticks. Then called the next day to see if we we're satisfied. This company just plain "gets it". Would give them AAA if that was possible.
