We hired Sierra Home Services to do a major remodel of the main floor of our home. What a disaster!!! The project was contracted to start on or about June 4, 2018 and to be "substantially completed by" August 31, 2018. Because of "engineering" and permit issues, the project didn't even kick off until the week after the 4th of July. The project completion day came and went, and we still did not even have drywall! During demolition someone from SHS was always there. They removed debris and swept at the floor before leaving each day. We were VERY impressed - until it came time to rebuild. We had done a lot of research of exactly what we wanted in our home. Bob was provided with a "proof book" which included all of the name brands, model #'s, SKUs and MSRP of everything - Tile, flooring, countertops, cabinets, appliances - everything - right down to the type of drawer pulls we wanted. We even gave him the formulas and sheens for our paint and a schematic of what was to be painted which color. It can't come much easier than that! But, we'd come home and find the walls were the wrong colors, the flooring was no-where near what we had specified, the door hardware was the wrong finish, etc. He chose a different cabinet maker than the one we had chosen and designed with – without consulting us beforehand. Now, I have a kitchen full of POT DRAWERS, for Pete's sake! They did not install headers under the drywall for our barn doors, and installed standard size doors in the openings - which were too large - so that the doors swung free and would not stay in the floor guides. Within a few days of the paint drying, we noticed that it was bubbling and peeling off the walls in long rubbery strips. We kept having to send things back because everything was wrong! When we finally started putting the squeeze on them about the delays and complaining about the product switches and poor workmanship, Bob fired our project manager, blaming him for everything. The new project manager was even worse! Work on the house slowed to a crawl. During one - the last - meeting we had with the new project manager, he threatened to come back "sometime" and take the flooring that hadn't been installed, (oh - did I mention that they lost our house keys?!) so I had my son and dad take the flooring over to my parents' house in order to protect our investment - after all, we had already paid for it. After that, they quit coming to the job altogether and later tried to claim that my 20 year old son (whose name and signature do not appear anywhere on the contract) had "fired" them! Bob himself hasn't responded to single e-mail/text or returned a phone call since mid-October. When we tried to contact the vendors and sub's that we knew had worked on our job to see if they'd help us finish what Bob had started, they all agreed that they would come finish their part of the job - if we'd pay them first. We'd already paid Bob A LOT of money, and he didn't even use it to pay his subs! We've been living in a construction zone for 10 long months. The job was supposed to take 90 days. We were without potable water for 8 months - paying a plumber for water in the kitchen was my husband's "get well" present following my back surgery - which Sierra Home Services was told about. We were promised that the house WOULD be done before my scheduled surgery date. Um - No, it wasn't... We've had to eat out or rely on the kindness of friends and family for meals for the past 10 months as well. The money we gave them specifically to buy the appliances, well... let's just say that they weren't ever ordered. We've had to hire a few independent sub-contractors to finish the technical parts of the house that were left undone, and pay - again - for appliances, new barn doors, etc., but other than that, my 75-year old parents, my husband and I have had to finish the house ourselves (which has included taking out and re-doing many of the things that Bob's team did poorly or wrong). And I must say, we've done a better job ourselves than Bob and his "team" could ever dream of doing!! We too have filed complaints with DOPL, BBB, and CPS, and hope that action will be taken against Sierra Home Services soon. These guys shouldn't be allowed to do to anyone else what they've done to us. STAY AWAY FROM SIERRA HOME SERVICES!!
