We had no complaints about the electrical work for the house remodel, which was done under the supervision of a general contractor so we had minimal direct contact with the owner of Corridor Electric. We were troubled by remotes that seemed to control the lights in more than one room, but the electrician told us the only solution would be to bypass the remotes and hard wire the fixtures, so we passed on that adjustment. Other minor issues were corrected promptly after we brought them to the attention of the general contractor. Several months after the house remodel was completed we contracted Corridor electric directly for installation of various systems in our newly constructed greenhouse: lighting, fans, heaters, a temperature controlled vent, evaporative coolers and a compressor for a misting system, including a humidistat. Sheldon, the owner, was very responsive and helpful in planning the work. He made several good suggestions, reviewed all the fixtures and equipment which I had ordered previously, and had his crew here when promised - very late October. During the installation the foreman on the job told me that the dimmer switch I had purchased for the LED lighting wouldn't work. I had purchased both the lights and dimmer at the same time from the same vendor, and when I called to check the vendor assured me that I had the correct dimmer and that I should have the electrician call the vendor for instructions. When the foreman came back to go over the completed work with me (Nov 14) he took the dimmer switch and vendor's phone number with him, promising to check into it and get back to me within a week. He also demonstrated the manual switching function to open and close the hydraulic vent, but told me I would have to figure out the programming for the automatic temp control myself. After he left I realized that a temp controlled heat lamp had not been installed in the housing for the compressor pump, which I had discussed with Sheldon, the owner, on his preliminary visit. Sheldon responded to my text promptly and came out himself within hours to install warming tape around the tubing to the compressor, which I agreed was satisfactory. It was several weeks before I studied the instructions for the automatic vent and tried to program it. The digital prompts were not as described in the instructions, and I finally gave up. I contacted the builder who had installed the vent, who said he thought he could help, but it would be January before he could get out to my place. A week or so before he was scheduled to visit we received a hand written bill from Corridor Electric for 6,300, with a hardly legible list of the work done and just one lump sum at the bottom. The bill was dated January 8. I decided to wait until the vent programming was completed to pay the bill. The programming prompts were not as expected for the builder either, so he called the vendor. Under the vendor's supervision he tried several things to troubleshoot, ending up with the control box sparking and starting a small fire. He then texted a picture of the wiring to the vendor and the vendor said it had been done incorrectly. Around Jan 20 I texted Sheldon to let him know we had a problem with the vent wiring but if he would send me a bill with the breakout of cost for the vent only I would get him a check for all the other work and we could start resolving the vent issue. We went into a downward spiral from there, and Sheldon's behavior was very unprofessional. Our objective was to fix the problem, pay our bill and move on, but Sheldon became very argumentative, accusing us of having messed up the wiring. I had asked him to come meet me at the house so we could talk things over, but to give me reasonable notice so I could be sure to be here. He texted me 15 minutes before arriving at the house at a time when I was at a physical therapy appointment -- I didn't even see his text until he had been and gone. He spoke with my husband, who didn't have all the details at hand, and left in a huff. Long story short, in order to protect our reputation in February we paid the bill in full, less $40 for the dimmer switch which was never returned to me or addressed despite several inquiries on my part. Note that we engaged an electrician with an A rating on Angie's list, and after reading the instructions and studying the vent installation he thought he understood what the problems were. He then called the technical support at the vendor who confirmed his assumptions. Unfortunately the circuit board had been burned beyond repair and had to be removed and replaced. When the new board came in, within a couple of hours the new electricians installed the board and rewired the vent and also installed the new dimmer switch I had ordered -- an identical replacement of the first one. As a final flourish, we asked the new guy about the crossed remotes in the house. He said that was a five minute fix, simply changing the code on one fixture, and he accomplished it in literally about 3 minutes. I regret that Sheldon was not willing to work with us to resolve the vent issues. We started out great and most of his work was fine. Because of his unprofessional behavior in dealing with problems, however, I would never use him again and can't recommend his services.
