We hired Tony to tile the shower in our Master bathroom. He was nice and did an excellent job building a water proof area to install the tile. The shower pan looked very well done. Unfortunately, the tile install was not up to our expectations. The edges along the seat in the shower were uneven and some other edges along the wall and corners didn't look very professional. To be fair he did offer to redo or fix these problems (but this was after the tile had been set for a few days). I wish it had been better quality work when they were installing the tile the day of. Also, to complicate matters, we didn't like the tile we ended up picking out so there was no point in allowing him to even fix the mistakes because we were going to tear it all out anyway and start over. This was our first time going through a remodel process so perhaps we should have communicated much, much more about how the finished product should look.

I was extremely unhappy with the job. I paid a lot of money and he did a very sloppy job. A lot of the grout was missing and there was other problems with the bathroom. I called to tell him this and he hung up on me. I had to have someone else do the job and it cost me $300. I wanted him to pay me the money and he would not do it. I am an elderly person and he took advantage of me.

It went great! Tony and his assistants were completely professional, reliable and careful. Tony listened carefully to me and gave me good advice when I sometimes asked for more than was really possible. He made every effort to please me. He cleaned up very well at the end of each day and covered the adjacent room with plastic to keep the dust off furniture and used tarps to cover the floor where they walked to and from the house. I have no complaints whatsoever and hope to have the opportunity to work with Tony's Tile Company again. Check out the photos to see the before, during and after of this job. We love it!
Description of Work: The primary goal of the project was to make the bathroom handicap accessible. The secondary goal was to correct 'old age' problems with the vintage 1988 master bathroom. Tony replaced a damaged shower window with glass block, tore out a 5" step down at the entrance of the shower stall, added a 'pan' and poured concrete, being careful to provide adequate slop for proper drainage. He extended the shower stall by 1' to better accommodate a wheel chair and health care aide. Then he replaced all tile in the shower and bathtub area, added a bench, torn out all glass partitions and built a tiled wall with niches. Then he installed a granite countertop and all fixtures.

I ordered the Angie's deal because I have a small area to tile. Tony came to look at my home and said the job would need additional labor (existing tile needs to be removed, subfloor, grout added next day). In a follow up conversation he told me it would require at least 8 hours of work. He said that I could request a refund if I didn't have the $ or desire to have the job done.

Description of Work: Replaced broken tiles in the master bath, and then did an acid spray ($75.00 extra) of the walls and the bath area now looks 100% better!! Anthony worked with my rather hectic schedule, came back a second day to complete the job with no extra charge. And he worked more than the four hours that the coupon called for without an additional charge.

I called Mr. Salas and asked him if he would come out and give me a quote on re-tiling a bathroom. After asking some questions on the size and scope of the project, Mr. Salas informed me that he had an opening in his schedule to perform the work. We agreed on a time to meet and Mr. Salas arrived as promised. During the initial meeting, Mr. Salas asked many questions about the project. Even though I had a general idea of what I was looking for, I asked Mr. Salas for his opinion based on his experience to fill in the gaps. His answers seem to fit what I was looking for. Mr. Salas informed me he would call me with a quote after that weekend. He called as promised and explained his quote which I accepted. The tear out was completed in a day. The majority of the new work was accomplished in two days and a half days. The completion of the project was delayed at this point for a few days. A border tile which I has requested had to be special ordered. Besides waiting on the special ordered tile, the project went very quickly. During the whole project, Mr. Salas kept me informed of the progress of the job. Mr. Salas and his crew did a wonderful job. Very professional and created the look I wanted.
Description of Work: Removed existing wall tile and flooring and replaced it with new tile in the bathroom. Also installed pedestal sink and removed old sink.

Mr Salas was very professional, polite and pleasant. He was very punctual and always made sure that I was happy with the progress at various points in the project. He also makes recommendations and listen to what I want. He also assisted me in some other things around the house that he did not charge for. He cleans up everyday and take great care when moving stuff in and out of the house. Great guy to hire. Will use him again.

Tony's Tile used a subcontractor to do the work. The quality was good except for uneven tile heights and missing grout, which were not noticeable until the days after they finished. The missing grout could have been fixed easily, but fixing the uneven tile heights would be a major repair.

He was scheduled for an appointment on a Saturday. I changed my plans to make myself available. I had to call him when he hadn’t arrived. He sounded confused and told me that he must have had the appointments mixed up, and stated he wouldn’t be able to come out. He then asked when I need the work done because he wouldn’t be available for 6 months. I didn’t understand why he didn’t state this on the initial call. He then proceeded to tell me he wouldn’t be able to help me. He didn't even apologize for the missed appointment.

Tony's Tile Company completely repaced our kitchen backsplash. We provided the marble tile and the company provided replacement waterproof sheetrock, thinset, grout, etc. (The stated cost includes tile and labor and supplies.) The entire surface (including the sheetrock) on which the original tile was mounted was removed. This process eliminated the excessive dust we dreaded from having the work done. The project was completed in 4 working days. We are very pleased with the results. Tony is a professional and does fine work. We would not hesitate to call him for future projects.

After receiving several bids for our master bathroom remodel, we chose Tony primarily because he stays on site for the whole job and does much of the work himself. We were also impressed with Tony's promptness and how he took the time to understand what we wanted to accomplish, and provided us advice to help us manage the cost and get the best bang for our buck. We scheduled a date about six weeks out to begin the work. Tony began the job on time. On the first day, Tony began demolition of the existing shower, countertops, and flooring. Our existing shower had a very large bench that consumed more space than practical, so we were anxious to see what was under the bench. Tony had forewarned us that there could be vents under it, and if so that might complicate things and require him to build a similar bench. Sure enough, there was a vent there, but Tony did not give up. While he continued to tear out the rest of the bathroom, Tony continued to brainstorm on solutions to maximize the shower space. The next day, Tony installed the granite countertops and also brought in a plumber to help him creatively reconfigure the pipes that were under the torn up bench. The end result was they were able to totally relocate everything, which greatly opened up our shower space. We were thrilled! The plumber also installed the new shower valve and all our new plumbing fixtures. It did cost us a little extra for the plumber, but Tony had discussed the potential for additional costs at the time of the estimate and involved us in the decision during the construction. As Tony began to build the shower pan and prepare the rest of the bathroom for the new floor, I could see that he definitely does things the right way. No preformed shower pan here....Tony builds the pan from scratch taking care to give the proper slopes for drainage. Tony also uses moisture barrier on both the shower walls and the rest of the bathroom floor. Our prior tile had been installed right on the plywood (this is a 2nd floor master bath). Each new day, Tony continued to make progress. Once the shower was basically complete, Tony arranged for the estimate and measurements to be completed for the shower door (Tony does not handle the shower door installation, but I had asked him to get me a good person to do it. It is actually nice Tony does things this way, as you aren't paying Tony a markup price but rather working straight with the glass company). After installing the floors, Tony consulted with us about whether we wanted wood baseboards or for him to use the floor tile. We chose to use the travertine as the trim, and Tony made it look nice. He also tiled the window box over the tub. The entire job took about 1 1/2 weeks, which is exactly what Tony had originally estimated. About a week later the glass company called and we had the shower frame and door installed The cost I listed was my approximate all-in cost, including items that I bought myself such as bathroom faucets, lighting, shower door, and subsequent painting that I had done. If you are planning a remodel, one of the biggest 'ouch' costs was replacing all the faucet fixtures. Those roman tub faucets are expensive. Overall, we were very pleased with Tony Salas. My wife felt very comfortable with him in the house, he was always cordial, and does high quality work. I would highly recommend Tony!

Before beginning the job, I stressed how important it was that the tile be laid evenly on the floor, but unfortunately this was not consistently done, and quite a few tiles had to be removed and replaced. When removing these tiles, most of the tiles next to them ended up with chips on them. Mark, the person installing the tile, said he and Tony talked and that he was going to slow down and make sure things would be done right the first time and that Tony would stop rushing him. Mark worked on one bathroom surround and it was going well, but he became ill and someone else was sent to finish installing some tile and do the grouting. This work was done very poorly, with crooked tile and poor grouting, even leaving a 1/2" hole under one shelf. I asked Tony to come the next morning to see the problems, but he did not come. Mark showed up later that morning and replaced some tiles and re-grouted many other areas. Tony had some good ideas on the floor patterns and his price was good. He kept telling me that any problems could always be fixed, and did try to fix them to the extent possible, but I would much rather have the job done right the first time and not have time and material wasted on re-doing work. Also, the amount of tile ordered by Tony was incorrect and after having the other bathroom completed by someone else, I ended up with 9 1/2 extra boxes of 12 x 12 tile, and then ran short of the 18 x 18 tile because of the tile replacement stated earlier.
Description of Work: Ceramic tile was removed from kitchen and bathroom floor and tub surround. Porcelain tile was installed on kitchen floor, bathroom floor and tub surround. Estimate also included another bathroom, but it was agreed that they would not be working in the other bathroom and we parted ways. Tile I selected was ordered by Tony, but I paid for it separately.

From start to finish Tony and his crew were prompt, courteous, concerned about my needs and desires, and willing to work with me through all aspects of the construction. Tony was booked out for a few months, but was able to work with me to accelerate the scheduled work. The workers showed up on time each day, and CLEANED UP each day!! I have never had a crew so meticulous about keeping the construction area neat and vacuumed when they left. It was remarkable! They did two bathrooms at once and then the third bathroom after the other two were completed. Tony came to personally help on numerous days and inspect on a regular basis to see if I was happy with the construction and if there were any problems or concerns from me. We were able to make some changes as we went along as the need arose, but Tony took everything in stride and all aspects of the construction were well coordinated. His crew was VERY hard working and wanted to be sure that I was happy with each stage of the construction. Very few problems arose during construction and the work was completed in a timely fashion. We had a little trouble with the subcontracted glass aspect of the job, because of a manufacturing problem, but the glass also turned out beautifully! Tony checked back with me a few weeks after construction to see if everything was still okay. The follow up aspect put a nice finishing touch on the job. I HIGHLY recommend hiring Tony's Tile Company and will definitely use his company in the future if the need arises!
Description of Work: Tony's Tile Company remodeled three bathrooms for me. The cost was about $18,000 for Tony's Tile plus about $6,000 from a subcontractor who did the glass work. This price was considerably less than the other estimates. Tony's price for all three bathrooms was what one of the other contractors would have charged me for one bathroom!! I had Tony's Tile replace tile in three shower stalls and on all three bathroom floors as well as tile one of the bathrooms halfway up from the floor with a decorative border on top (the top half I had painted). Each bathroom had a different tile accent. I had them install two granite counters with new sinks on existing cabinets, but kept my pedestal sink in the third bathroom. I also kept the three toilets I had because they were relatively new. I had one wall removed halfway down and had the bottom remaining portion tiled with a granite top to match the sink. Electrical wires were re-routed to accommodate the changes. New lighting fixtures, new exhaust fans, a medicine cabinet, and faucets/hardware were put into the bathrooms. The bathrooms turned out beautifully!

What went well: Initial interactions with Tony were very good, he was responsive, flexible with my availability, and came with contract in hand as he stated. Tony was patient and responsive to all my questions, gave me good advice about my master bath remodel. I think Tony and his team are experts in shower pans and working in wet areas, they did a good job on this. What didn't go well: Before covering the plumbing with drywall and tile his team did not take a photo of the plumbing so now I have to guess at where the plumbing is and hope when I mount my vanity it is accurate. I even asked the worker to take a measurement of this plumbing locations but he forgot. The crew had levels but I don't think they knew how to use them. Both on wall and floor tile the tile is uneven and in some obvious areas the light really catches the tiles which are raised and not level with the wall. DO NOT let Tony's people install drywall for you. They left large gaps in drywall, didn't drywall to the appropriate spot over the door header, just sloppy. You may be irritated to know that they use nails, not screws to hang drywall. I'm paying another contractor to come out and fix it. Tony had suggestions for where to buy tile where he could get a discount - the only problem was he had me running all over town to locate the shops which he didn't have updated information on. During a busy lunch hour this was not fun. In the long run, I wasn't pleased with any of the tile options and I ended up purchasing online as I originally planned and was very happy with my choice. Overall I think Tony's group is ok to use for some things but I'm surprised his company has the name TILE in it because that is an area where they did not do an outstanding job, the issue of not leveling the tile is just an amateur mistake. The quality of work is why I gave a C, but Tony and his team were still professional and responsive.

It has been a great experience and pleasure to work with Tony (Tony Salas - Tony Tile Company). He has been very patient and listened to what all we had to say or ask. We have taken quotes/bids form 3 different contractors as this involved some investment and finalized on Tony for the clear communication and willingness to listen and take time to our needs. Tony is excellent in communicating and responding to our phone calls and came several times to our home to discuss what all is going to be performed. We are very very pleased with his workmanship and great crew he has. He was willing to do small works that was not originally discussed as long as we supplied the material. He gave me references and took me to one of the previous jobs to show his workmanship, which was great. Tony knows what a home owner looks for and he always make sure that the home owner is happy. He kept us asking, is every thing OK to your satisfaction? and he really means. Although originally the tile size and grout spacing we wanted is not what he recommended, he went along with what we were wanting and as the project was progressing, he thought that was the best decision as it turned out to be master piece that simply another boring flooring work especially the Front Foyer. We requested some intricacies in design with medallion and he was more than happy to oblige our request. Also, one of our transition tile work, he asked us how it was and after that was done, he thought that if we changed a little bit of pattern, it would look good and once we said OK, he told his crew to change it even after that work was completed an hour ago. That is paying attention to the details and wanting a perfect job. The job site was kept very clean every day before leaving and had made accommodation to allow for elderly mother to move around. Cleaned the final floors several times till it looked perfect before leaving the job at the end. He also asked if they can wash my van since, some dust fell on the van and boy, the van looked great like it came from car wash folks, great service. The valve put in was leaking next day after they left and I had out of town guests for long weekend. I called him and he was ready to come from his vacation to help us the next day and he was bent on doing every thing before he recommends calling a plumber. It ended up that he was able to replace the valve parts and it was fixed and he did not charge an extra penny for that. He means service. I can go on and on but, simply put, he is excellent, dependable and trustworthy. He is not the cheapest but his prices are very reasonable and I can go on to say, he delivers more than what he says he will do, to me that is professionalism. I would recommend Tony to any one and will definitely use him again for another job that we are planning in another 6 to 8 months. A BIG THANK YOU to Tony.

I bought a coupon for 4 hours of tile work and Tony came out promptly to assess the scope of the job. In addition to the tile work, I wanted the existing tile removed and a new waterproofing system installed. I fully expected and understood that I would be paying additional costs, but I was surprised at the final verbal bid. Tony's final bid was $1,800 to $2,000, which seemed a little high, but not excessive. I had asked him to email a written bid for the work, I never received anything. I called and left a message. I never received a return call. I had to move forward with my job, so I hired another bathroom remodeler. I felt Tony was rather arrogant when giving me the verbal bid and the fact that I never heard back from him was extremely frustrating and set my job back, forcing me to reschedule other trades that were ready to get to work.

It was awesome and it's beautiful. I had other quotes done before on the backsplash and couldn't believe how expensive it was. It was only labor and did not include the tile, but it would include things like the mastic, grout, and the sealant. I already had bought my tile from a local company and measured the space that I needed, so it was a perfect fit for me. I had the tile for several years and just had to find somebody that could put it in. I'm picky and had to have a rather complex design and there was no way that I was going to be able to do it on my own and I knew it and was looking for somebody for a while and the "Big Deal" kind of fell in my lap and I called them. He came right out and was very prompt, very professional, and was very kind. He's been doing tile for 20 years and just did a really great job. He has a young man that works with him who is his assistant and he's been with him for 7 years. They're like a team and they just get in there and get it done. They were fast because I thought it was going to take about a day, so I was really impressed. There was actually some design involved when they installed the tile because what I thought I wanted to do wasn't going to be as easy as we thought. He has such a repertoire of doing all this tile and has seen a number of different things and has done a number of different things so he gave me suggestions on ideas of what I might want to do when he came out to do an assessment of the work and to explain all the things that needed to be done. We agreed on a pattern and then him and his assistant showed up right on time and 15 minutes early. They protected my floors and came in and did the work and did not take a break for lunch and worked straight through until about 1:30. The deal was really for labor and not material, so any tile I wanted to have done anywhere he would've done it. We did all those little things and then it had to set up and dry and get stable. The very next day they came back at the exact same time and right on time. They did the grout and everything and cleaned up. It was beautiful work and I paid him because everything was done. It did cost more than just the "Big Deal" because it's one person for four hours or two people for two hours. I knew it was going to take longer than that and it was going to be additional fees, so when he came out and did the assessment he told me that he needed to give me a quote for the additional time. I told him that I wanted to at least get a discount on a piece of it and he said that they're doing that all the time. He's booked solid until August and I'm so excited for him because he does wonderful work. This coupon thing has worked fabulous for him and has opened up a number of doors for him. Whenever you do grout you put it into these little holes in between the tiles, but if there's an air pocket behind it you may not no until the grout starts to dry and then you'll see the hole. We had one little section where we had some little holes and I called him the next morning after everything was dry and he told me that he'll be right there. I told him that I couldn't do it that day and if he could come on Thursday and he said he'll come first thing in the morning. He was here again at 9:15 and right on time and made the little repairs. He came right in and fixed it and there were no complaints. He did great work, but it was the service as well. He wanted to make sure I was happy and I am and I've been singing his praises ever since. He's very good. I sent him $2,000 although I know he's busy and has a lot of contracts now, but I want to do some more work with him later in the year to change the bathroom tile on the floor. He told me he could do it with no problem and told me exactly how much tile to get. He measured it for me without any fee at all and told me when I'm ready to go buy the tile for both bathrooms and we'll schedule it and do it both on the same day. We're excited, so not only do I have my plumber I also have my tile guy. I told him that he could leave a flyer in my yard and I asked him for a bunch of his cards and I passed them out to friends.
Description of Work: I bought a "Big Deal" from Tony's Tile Company for four hours of tile work and they did the backsplash in my kitchen. They even replaced some broken tile that I had in my family room and master bathroom all in the same day.

Tony and his staff have been very professional while on the job. The work area is always left in perfect condition after they leave each day. Tony is very talented and it shows in his work. He wants the customer to be happy. Tony is good about giving suggestions for different pattern layouts. Perfect if you are like I am and can tell someone what you want but have no clue what the pattern may be called. Overall very statisfied with the job and it isn't even finished yet. Look forward to seeing the finished product.
