Texas Allied Landscaping/SISCO said they service my area which is 25 miles from their office. Their technician diagnosed a simple wire problem from my sprinkler system controller to a valve box less than 10 feet away. Rather than run the wire through the existing conduit from the controller box to the valve box, the technician strung an external wire and said he would have to come back later to do it properly. The problem is that they charged me $397 of which $265 was for driving. To do the repair properly, according to their front office, I would have to pay another $265 for driving plus the onsite time. $530 of driving charges for a sprinkler repair 25 miles away is price gouging. Most of my service companies come from San Antonio and no one charges fees like that.

I have a large yard with lots of landscaping, so it was a big job. I was told it would take 2-3 days with a 3 man crew. Instead, it took 4-5 weeks working one day per week, sometimes a few hours and some full days and sometimes 1 worker and sometimes 2 or 3. Once it was all done the yard looked good, not great.

They are a great company to work with. If they can't make it on thei scheduled day they come out the next day. The only reason hey don't make it on their scheduled day is because of weather.
Description of Work: They maintain our yard throughout the year. They have done an excellent job and always respond quickly. They did a great job with our initial clean up. During the growing season last year the yard look fantastic all year.

This is a great landscaping service that I have used in the past for other projects with excellent results and very competitive rates. This project involved removing a fairly large section of dead/dying grass next to the pool, replacing it with decomposed granite and drought-tolerant plants (Texas superstars with variety of blooming plants and vines to run along ranch style fence). We had a weed bed (not my original plan!) along the other side of the same fence that they removed and covered with large river rock. They added very large flagstones to function as a patch across our back lawn to the entrance to the pool deck (and a Y-turn to a sport court). They also mortared a flagstone path from the gate to the pool deck, perfectly matching the existing flagstone deck. The price was less than I expected for the project and it was all done exactly as drawn up. I would not hesitate to use Ray and Texas Allied Landscape again. In fact, with new construction next door, I will be calling them soon to add a berm and some tall foliage for privacy....
Description of Work: Installed a decomposed granite bed with xeriscape/drought tolerant plants; added a river rock border along a ranch fence; added large flagstone steeping stones through yard; mortared flagstone path through grass to pool deck edge

The work was done many years ago (I just guessed at the date I posted). They added a few new plants to our landscape, but it was a small job. I gave them an A but honestly don't remember much about the experience, other than the price seemed high for the amount of work done.

I have used Texas Allied Landscaping since 1999 to improve the landscaping and maintain the sprinkler system which was in place when we purchased the home in 1992. It was a very basic builder sprinkler; this latest job vastly improved the coverage while using less water. Individuals who stand out include Roy Wilkinson, the owner, Tom Chegrin, an onsite supervisor and in sprinkler maintenance, Eddie and Dave who have been there for years. Each time they came out they did an excellent job cleaning up. I was always at work but my neighbor said the crew was was not loud or offensive. They showed up, did the work, cleaned up and left. No complaints from the neighbors.A strong point for the company is the communication and their responsiveness to questions or what could have been issues. Customer satisfaction is clearly important to the company. It is my belief that you might spend less on a job with another company but the results will not be as good. You could spend more at another company and the results would be no better.I can recommend Texas Allied Landscaping without reservation.
Description of Work: Texas Allied Landscaping installed landscape lighting, added additional plantings, revised the planting beds, improved the back yard drainage, added a rock bed to replace St. Augustine grass that could not thrive in the shade and added a defined "river" bed with a gravel bedding and carefully placed "boulders".

It was before the drought hit San Antonio. Now obviously we can't use our sprinkler system as much as we would like to, but it does work on occasion. We can only run it once a week. When we get to stage 3 it will be worked every 2 weeks. It's not doing very well. I have Bermuda grass and I just water it enough to keep it alive, but it is dormant. It goes brown and yellow and doesn't look very good. It will be back if the rain comes. If we don't have any rain, it will look like it does. I have new construction. If you buy the installation of the sprinkler system with the builder, the builder gets a cut of that. Not only are you paying the company to install but the builder also gets a cut. What I paid was probably $1000.00 less by going directly to someone to install the sprinkler system. What would have cost me $5000.00 cost me $3900.00 to get the sprinkler system in. In addition to that, I had them do $2500.00 worth of landscaping. I have also done some additional landscaping on my own. They gave me a good start and actually about half the landscaping in the yard is mine now. The landscaper gave me a good base to start. They are very good in what they do. They are very professional. They are on the higher side in terms of price. I could have gone very very expensive with them, but you get what you pay for. They are a bigger company so as an individual home owner I knew I wasn't going to get highly personalized attention. The gentleman in charge there, Nick, is a very good communicator. You do have to follow up with them if you want something done. They aren't going to automatically do them. There was an issue with a plant because we had a pretty cold winter and the plant didn't make it and they replaced it, but you have to follow up with them on it. They do a lot of commercial. They are not in tune to the individual home owner. They are more into commercial projects. They did a very good job with our landscaping in front of our sub-division so I thought I would give them a try. They were okay and they did a very good job with the sprinkler system itself. The landscaping was good. It wasn't great, but I didn't ask for a lot either. I had them do a couple of beds, one in the back and one in the front and the rest of the work I did myself. They did a fairly good quality job. The work done was primarily the sprinkler system. That was most of the cost. They did a very very good job. They had done a lot of installations of sprinkler systems. They were there when they said they would be there. They were on time. They were good at communicating when they were there. Overall, they were very professional. They did what they promised and they did it on time.
Description of Work: Texas Allied Landscaping came out in May 2010 and did some landscaping and also put in the sprinkler system.

The work was good and done according to the plans. They were expensive, and the original design was not well thought out for the type of lot I had. I own a 1.25 acre lot slopped to the front. They did not account for all the drainage needed and I later had to go in and spend another 10K to get that done right.

They were very professional and showed up on time. They followed through and sent a four to five page contract. I ended up not using them because they wanted a full contract and we are under a drought and I did not need them to come out on a regular basis. The cost was way too high.

We ended up getting three quotes for services, and Allied was in the upper/middle of the three. They did a fantastic job of planning the entire system, professionally drawing it, and explaining the layout before we even signed a contract. Neither of the other two companies did this. They began the work some days after they had planned to start, but not enough to cause issues. They had all of the utilites located before work, performed all of the permitting and inspection themselves, and generally created no extra hassle for us. In the end, the system we recieved was top of the line. A very knowledgeable employee came ot our home to setup the installed system and give us instructions on how to operate it. They did everything as promised, and even provided us with a better rainbird control box than was included in their quote (for no additional charge). Afterward, they gave us a sprinkler head drawing of our yard, to help us locate all of the heads. Because of the complexity of our system, this was a huge help to us. We've had our system for more than a year, and it works flawlessly. We did break off a head during a construction project 6 months later, and they arrived promptly to fix it for free (as promised in our contract). During that time, they also rearranged the drip system in another bed to accmodate new plants (also for free). Additionally, they provided us with spare parts and instruction to enable us to rearrange our drip system ourselves. Sprinkler systems require maintanence, and we're glad we chose the company that we appreciate doing business with. We could have gone with a cheaper system, but those systems do not include rainbird parts or controllers. We think the price was more than fair for the quality and service they provided. We will not do business with another company. I've read another review which complains about their lack of responsiveness. I did not encounter this problem with Allied. I find their guy who answers the phone to be pleasant to talk to, and I find Rick to be more than reasonably responsive. Yes, the system did take several weeks to completely install, but good things are worth waiting for.
Description of Work: Allied installed a sprinkler system in our yard. We have a complicated layout of turf and beds, and our lot is 1/2 acre, which is reflected in the price.

They are very good. They are very expensive. Some of the plants died a year later. They were under warranty but I never heard back from them. They are not very responsive. Once they are there and give you the estimate, they do a very good job. The guys they have from landscaping are phenomenal. It's the follow-up. They are really nice. Rick is really nice. He came out in July and I never heard back from him until late August or September. Then all of a sudden in October they showed up to redo the work or to do the okay. I told them the work that I wanted them to do. I can understand the July to September time frame because in San Antonio Texas you don't really want to plan anything with a time frame. But at least we could have worked on the follow-up a little bit better. From the initial time that we talked about what I wanted them to do and asked them to come back with the design and the plants they wanted to add, it took a while for him to come back. That was the thing in getting the follow-up. They never told me the date they were showing up. They just showed up one day in October but once they were there they did a phenomenal job. They are expensive. Last year we had a terrible drought here in Texas and the temperatures were between 60 and 100 degrees so some of the plants died. I told him about it and he wrote it down. But he still to this day has not gotten back to me on it. I went ahead and planted new plants myself. I think the follow-up is the killer with them, but they are phenomenal and expensive. I really liked the end result of what they did. Even if you stay with them, they still don't return your phone calls whenever you call them, but they are really good. They are proud of their product. When they do set up a time to meet with you, they are there. To me the follow-up is really customer service. I think the follow-up is the killer and the fact that they are expensive. As I said they do fantastic design and plans and it was great what they did. I would probably not use them in the future. I pretty much gave up on it. I did my own plant material. It's been over a year now. I just probably won't use them again.
Description of Work: Texas Allied Landscaping did some landscaping in my yard. I had them do the initial install plus doing the maintenance every six months down and cleaning up the yard.

I wanted to have flagstone layed between the house and deck and add a walkway from the front yard gate to the back deck. Also wanted a xeroscape type flower/plant bed in the front of the house to help conceal a utility box. Built about a 30 ft retaining wall behind the deck area ( we have very sloped back yard) using existing natural stone from our property. They created a design plan (to provide an estimate for bid) at no cost which became the work plan as well. They poured foundation, layed flagstone for our specific needs. The original project did not include an enclosed pation we have, but their work on the outside was so good we added over 200 sq ft of patio to make the total project over 600 sq ft. Also included sprinkler system valve locating and remulching all existing beds on property (a bunch). The workers were very professional, timely, dependable, and flexible. They also were able to prevent the escape of two golden retrievers during the project!
Description of Work: Landscape design plan; Poured foundation and layed flagstone walk and patio; built xeroscape bed; performed irrigation system remediation. I am not comfortable including the project cost, but will attest it was competively bid and reasonable.
