Forrest Elliot responded promptly to our request for an estimate. He was thorough, professional and concise regarding his services and the product he would use. On installation day, he and his crew were prompt, courteous and very, very clean. Forrest supervised the entire process. His price was not the lowest bid we received, but we felt most comfortable with his professionalism and knowledge. The product he used is well-known and has an excellent warranty. If I had another house to insulate, I would most definitely call Rhino Energy Solutions. If I ever have a need for any of their other services, I will be calling them.

I called these guys based on a daily deal. They came over and discussed what the deal was but also my overall concerns. He walked around the house made some notes and emailed an estimate the next day. He followed up with a phone call and we scheduled for a SATURDAY!!! They came over with three other guys and knocked everything out within a few hours. Forrest was professional, friendly and explained everything step by step. I liked him a lot and felt comfortable with him and his crew in my home. I will DEFINITELY do business with him again.
Description of Work: Caulked the windows inside and out. Radiant barrier, insulation and sealed areas on the roof. They also ensured the tubing to the AC was attached and sealed.

The work done was entirely unsatisfactory. The workers arrived with rented equipment which they were in a hurry to return before they incurred charges for a full day on the equipment. Also they only brought with them a few bags of insulation. The partner, Forrest, who gave me the quote led me to believe that he would be on-site for the job, but he never showed up. He did, however, demand payment immediately because he was in a hurry to leave town for the weekend. When the job was checked by other contractors working in my unit, it was revealed that there was no insulation in most of my condo and where there was insulation, the areas were only about a quarter full. They also did not leave the roll of bat insulation called for in the quote and for which I was rushed to pay for. If I had not been doing a full remodel job on my unit, I would not have been alerted to the fact that I there was no insulation after Rhino had rushed in and rushed off the job. The 4-inch holes do not allow you to see what was not done. I will be filing a claim in small claims court. The Contractor, Forrest, came to the jobsite and met with me on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. I showed him the pictures I had taken of the work and explained the problem. He attempted to bully me, blame me, and threaten me. When he saw that I had a datasheet from the manufacturer, he tried to imply that the information on it could not be relied upon. However, he also claimed to have delivered 7 bags of product which the datasheet shows would have yielded insulation throughout my ceiling and not just a few spots as the pictures I took showed. He insisted that I did not call him to let him know there was a problem. But I did call him and I left a message despite the outgoing notice that the office was closed during that week. He expected me to hold up my job and to wait for him to decide to rectify the problem. I had many subs waiting to complete their work including sheet rocking, painting, tiling, and A/C work. In addition, I was paying living expenses on top of the mortgage. He said he would make restitution after speaking to his boss, and he never contacted me again. (I question his assertion that he needed to talk to the boss because his business card shows him as ?partner.?) After paying him $1,050.00, I was out an additional $2,293.45 in costs to repair the work that he did not do. This $2,293.45 breaks down as follows: $1,350.00 to pay for demo, haul away and additional sheet rock work; $843.45 for additional insulation and the labor to install the insulation; and $100.00 for a week?s delay in the job. In total the insulation job cost me $3,343.45 when I add what I paid him for work that wasn?t done. To summarize, I would not recommend that anyone use this contactor. He lies, his work is very inferior, and if there is a complaint he bullies he threatens to call the building inspector and CPS.
Description of Work: The estimate was for blown in insulation the ceiling between the floor joists throughout the entire condo sufficient to abate noise from the condo overhead, and 1 roll of bat insulation for use in the wall behind where a new bathtub was going to be installed. The insulation blown in the ceiling required 4-inch holes cut into the ceiling between each floor joist. Patching the holes was not part of the bid as I had already engaged a sheetrock contractor to handle the patching as well as other work.

Response from RHINO ENERGY SOLUTIONS LLC
This project included blowing insulation into existing spaces in between floors in a small condo. We have accomplished this successfully many times before. There is never a 100% way to make sure you fill all spaces because we are installing into a " blind " area. The crew calculated the sq. footage and blew the number of bags stated to fill cavities. Our goal is always to do the best possible job in the most cost effective way for the customer. I first learned of this customers dissatisfaction when it was posted on Angie's List on Jan 5th. We installed the job on Dec. 29 th, a day before the holiday weekend. Our office was closed until Jan 4th, as stated on our answering service. The customer stated that she called the office the day before New Yrs. and got a recording, but could not remember if she left a message. We had no message from her on any phones or through the answering service. We had people on call that could have immediately addressed her concerns, and all customers have our cell # in case of questions. She stated that she could not reach us and therefore had her contractor that was working on the condo re insulated the entire job over the holiday weekend with out giving us the chance to rectify the situation. I called and set up a meeting with this customer immediately after seeing her report and explained to her, as with any reputable contractor, we cannot guarantee that all jobs will go perfect 100% of the time. But, just as important as striving for superb quality the first time, is standing behind your work and correcting ANY concerns or quality issues there may be in a timely manner. We have always accomplished this. We did not have the opportunity to view or correct the work that was done at the condo. No after pictures were taken of the work done by the other contractor. We were told that all work was done and closed up over the holiday weekend . I agree with this customer that there were spaces that did not get insulated. We would have done whatever was needed to correct this. The customer stated that we rented equipment to install her job. This was correct, we rented a portable machine because we could not fit our large insulating truck into the complex. We did not collect any down payment from this customer and the check was happily given to the install crew when they were done. The customer stated that the reason for her contractor re doing our work is that she did not want a delay in the remodel project. But, we had been re scheduled 3 times because of delays with other contractors on this job. Unfortunately this is common with any large project. My goal is to be fair. I did meet with this customer and will offer a settlement for what she said she spent on materials to fill in gaps and re insulate. I have no way of knowing what really happened or to what extent was needed to correct. I do not feel that by placing one phone call, not leaving a message, and not providing at least one business day to correct the issues was providing a fair opportunity for a reputable company to correct any issues. As I stated, the first we learned of this was the report on this site on Jan 5th and a phone call was placed to the customer within minutes to schedule an appointment. We hope never to have to see a customer in court, but we run an honest, fair business and while we are willing to offer whatever it takes to be totally fair with a customer, we are protected by state laws that require a customer to give a company a "reasonable " opportunity to address issues. Which, we would have immediately. As with any situation like this, we will learn from it and strive to improve our services to prevent it in the future.

Showed up on time and went right to work. Blew insulation into the attic and then started blowing insulation into the exterior walls. They had cut 3 inch holes into the drywall to allow the insulation to be blown in, all cutouts were placed in the window sills so they wouldn't get lost. The crew of two did a very good job and cleaned up after themselves and you did not know they had been there. Super job.

It went great. Forrest came on time with his crew. Each worker had their own speciality; radiant barrier, insulation, attic stairs, soffit removal, and soffit replacement. They accessed the attic through the garage for most of the work and only used the access inside the house where they could not reach the other way. They took down all the pictures in the hallway so they would not get broken and put down paper to protect the rug. The soffit replacement took longer than expected so Eric came back the next day to complete the work. They did burn up one of their work lights and it caused the electrical outlet to die also. The one thing that they did wrong was leave the burned light up in the attic. Forrest took it with him when he came to replace the electrical socket.
Description of Work: Sprayed on radiant barrier, blew in 10" of insulation, replaced folding attic stairs, replaced all soffits.

Really well. They came over and did a free estimate, explained all the benefits and rebates we were eligible for first. We booked immediately after the price quote (we had really high quotes prior to this) and they came within ~2 weeks due to our busy schedule. The crew showed up on time (~8am), was well organized, and they layed out paper walkways to avoid getting the floor and carpet dirty. They cleaned up after themselves and were done before 12 noon. Within a few days, I was mailed all the CPS energy rebate paperwork already filled out and ready for my signature to submit. I was quite impressed.
Description of Work: Re-insulated the attic space up to a very high R-rating (38, I believe), applied radiant barrier and installed an electric attic fan to help cook down the space.

They came right on time, worked quickly and quietly. They laid paper on the floors where they had to walk, and cleaned up thoroughly when they left. Our home is approximately 3800 sf (2 story), and the job time was approximately 3 1/2 hours. Forrest and his whole crew are polite and considerate. They also are filling out the paperwork for the rebate given by CPS. I would use them again if needed, and highly recommend them to anyone considering upgrading their home's energy efficiency.

It went great. They arrived when they said they would and I am very happy with the work. My attic had very little ventilation and low insulation. My house was built in 1975. I had three companies come out to give estimates...Efficient Attic Systems, Radiant Barriers of Texas, and Rhino Insulation that we found off of Angie's List. Rhino gave us a very low estimate and it had an A rating on Angie's List so I went with them. For example, Rhino's estimate for everything was about the same price of what the other two companies would do the insulation and radiant barrier for. The owner of the companie, Forrest, comes out and gives the estimate and shows up with his crew on the day of the install. I would recommend them to anybody, AND they have a 10% discount if you say you found them on Angie's List!
Description of Work: We had insulation, radiant barrier, 25 soffet vents, and an electric roof fan put in. We had about 12 inches of insulation blown in.

The workmen were prompt, professional and courteous. The owner was there all the time. They finished quickly and cleaned up after themselves. The price was a tiny bit higher than estimates received from other companies but I chose Rhino because I believed that the products used by them were of better quality leading to the slightly greater cost. The 10% discount to Angie's List members was also a plus.I would definitely use this company again.

I called on a Friday to schedule an estimate and Forrest came the next day. He was very personable and professional, and answered all my questions clearly. There was no pressure to buy extras I didn't need and the quote was very reasonable. I got the work done one week from getting a quote at a time that was very convenient for me. Forrest and the tech showed up on time, completed the job within the time he told me it would take, and cleaned up after themselves. Forrest even offered to come back to paint the solar fans to match the roof if my picky HOA mentions anything. I was very pleased with the whole experience and have already recommended the company to two friends.

I would be glad to use this company in the future for other house repairs or construction.
Description of Work: I have a 56 year old house that desperately needed insulation in the attic. The Rhino Company sprayed a radiant barrier and sprayed fiber glass insulation in the attic to act as a deterrent to heat in the summer and cold air in the winter. From the initial presentation to the completion of the work, they were professional in every aspect. In comparison to two other insullation companies, Rhino was by far the least expensive. It took three hours to install the insulation and we are delighted with the results.

Received quotes from 3 different companies. We decided on Rhino due to presentation and Angie's List. Rhino didn't seem to need the "extra" things one company was pushing (which I was questioning). Rhino sprayed the Heat Block Attic Barrier and topped off my insulation. Rhino performed the work efficiently and expertly. The work was double checked after completion. They verified our canned lights were not covered and checked for any leaks in the air ducting. I was very comfortable with the crew at the house and the crew cleaned up the area after finishing the installation. I would not hesitate to recommend them or have them back to do other work.

Our home was built in 1994 and we have not added any additional insulation since then. We also felt that we could benefit from the HeatBloc-75 radiant barrier addition to our attic, so we called them for an estimate. Very punctual, professional and gave us a written estimate and we scheduled the work for the following week working with my schedule. They were here on time, did a very nice job, and followed up with Analiza bringing out the rebate paperwork all completed except for our information to forward to CPS for the rebates (even the envelope to CPS that was already stamped to send it in!) She went over the forms with us, ensured that we were pleased with the job, asked if there were any questions, and even gave us a lovely little "Rhinorita" gift basket! This kind of professional, personal service is VERY hard to come by these days, and we are thrilled with the services they have provided us. Although we have yet to see the savings in our CPS bill, we already feel the difference as our upstairs is MUCH cooler than before, and we can tell that the A/C unit is not running as often. Given the fact the CPS rebate on adding both the additional insulation and the radiant barrier total close to $400, this is an EXCEPTIONAL chance for us to fight of those ever increasing electric bills. I would STRONGLY ENDORSE this company for any energy savings needs. Their website explains all their different services. VERY pleased! Thanks Rhino!!!
