I haven't gotten any other quotes to compare. He came the day after I called. He returned my call the same day I left a message. I may use him in the future if I am satisfied.

 + 2 moreI interviewed a few companies, and he gave me the most reasonable price. John was always prompt for our appointments. He did a wonderful, beautiful job. He also supplied most of the materials. You would never know how bad our problem was looking at the ceiling now. All of the work only took him two days. He worked efficiently, professionally, and cleaned up after himself very well. Most importantly, his workmanship is phenomenal.
Description of Work: John has done a number of things for us over the years. Most recently, he fixed our bathroom ceiling. It had been leaking and was so bad we had to use an umbrella indoors during rainstorms. He also fixed our toilet, replaced a faucet, fixed a couple of light switches, and installed a new vent over the stove.

 + 1 moreThe man was pleasant and explained the problem so as I could understand it. He had to order a part, but returned the next day to make the repair. He cleaned up after himself and left the area as it was before he came.
Description of Work: The repairman came to my house as scheduled to repair my washing machine. He found the problem quickly. The brakes on the machine were screeching. He changed the brake and the machine works great now. No more noise.

He custom fit the bolts & water lines, and even travelled to the Home Depot to pick up a better wax seal & extended flex pipes. He cleaned up after the project, and was courteous & professional. His original price estimate on the phone was $125 + parts, and that is what I spent. $125 labor + $30 extra parts.
Description of Work: John Cook installed 2 bathroom faucets (which I had previously purchased); and installed a energy efficient toilet (which I also had purchased).taking out the old toilet & faucets.

 + -1 moreJohn originally met with us to see the plans, and walk the area where the new deck would be built. He gave us his suggestion for the decking material. We chose to use a composite material and John was comfortable working with it. We had steps down from the house to the deck that were at an angle. John was concerned about the design and met with us to confirm the plan for that part of the project. It turned out to be one of our favorite parts of the design. This is one example of how he worked with us throughout the project. he finished on time and right on the estimate, as he had on other smaller projects.
Description of Work: We have had John Cook, (Mr. Fix It) complete several other smaller jobs. We originally found him through Angie"s list. We had plans for a deck for several years before calling John to bid and then complete the project. He built the project true to the design. His suggestions were all positive and his carpentry is wonderful. We also appreciate that he self performs the work. He is prompt and kept us informed of his schedule each day. We will use him again and recommend to friends and family.

Mr. Cook kindly waited for me to return and proceeded to install the pet door. There was a minor problem with the pet door, but he persisted and finally installed it. Very gracious gentleman, I will call him again.

 + -1 moreEverything went well. Mr. Cook was punctual and provided an upfront estimate. His estimate for the materials was very good as we did not have hardly any crown molding left over, just small pieces. He usually started around 8:30 and stayed until 6:30, except on Monday, when he arrived around 3:30 due to some other job he was doing. He completed the job on Friday as forecasted. All work looks extremely good and we were pleased with his work and his easy going manner.
Description of Work: Constructed approximately 32 feet of wainscoating in breakfast area of kitchen using 1/4 inch Birch plywood attached to the wall to a height of 34 1/2 inches. Added decorative molding formed into rectangles on the plywood. Installed crown molding in the front bedroom, hallway to front bedroom, master bedroom and common areas of the house (kitchen, living room, dining room, etc.) Repaired drywall in hall bath, replaced damaged base trim in bath and living room and added trim to mirrors in the bathrooms. The price included all labor + materials for the wainscoating only. We purchased the crown molding separately and we painted.

Due to a booked schedule, Mr. Cook came on a Saturday to review the projects and provide an estimate and then scheduled a date when he was free. A neighbor saw the work he did on our gate and had him do the same on her gate that is joined to the same fence.
Description of Work: Mr. Cook replaced a gate, built a deck for gardening materials, and repaired a garage door.

 + -1 moreI wanted him to paint all the walls before I moved since it was going to be easier. We then talked about the color and finish, he then told me that the colors that I wanted would for sure cover the other paint. The paint was bought. Then the paint did not cover right. We had to buy more paint. So we then got it worked out with a different finish, but as time goes by I am seeing more and more flaws and missed spots. At the end I ended up spending six hundred more than the estimate was for.
